Magellan's RP madness!* (*madness not guaranteed)

I support the contents of this thread. -
Beautiful, beautiful work...

*nods* I mean as far as game lore... or are all players considered to have been 'taken from the past'? I know Legacy get neck tats to signify their status...was wondering if it was more than that. That that tat 'marked' those taken from the past... whereas the rest of us survived and are "five years older"? Edit: Xenedra posted as I did. Thanks for the clarification!

This might have been answered before, but I honestly don't know where to look, so... real quick: I'm working under the assumption that ONLY Legacy players were 'sent from the fall of Dalamud to now' and the rest of us are just survivors of the Fall. Is that correct? If so (or even if not)... do we have any details as to how the dragon was defeated and why... Eorzea still exists and is not a blackened wasteland? I mean... if the 12 gods couldn't stop Bahamut, how was he locked up or killed? How is it 'we' survived when clearly, it was expected that no one would (ergo the "hero rapture")?

Love this idea! I hope it spawns similar ideas in others and we could end up with a complete IC marketplace... Maybe even some other player-run businesses. (hotels, zoos, clubs, gardens, offices for various things... etc) Adding content to pre-existing IG content makes the game even better- especially if you're dealing with PC's vs NPC's. The more IC contact, the more networking, the better the RP ops. I support this! And shall look you up when I need armor and supplies... and pass the word around. What do you think you will call your shop?

Wow, thanks for the replies guys! Seems there is still a lot of speculation about it though, which- to me- means 'possibilities' and no risk of breaking canon. Not that I needed 'upper echelon' info on the Empire for my purposes, just a general "Hm... I wonder...." But it would be very telling as far as the overall state of the Empire. Great discussion... So good. Until, like Shippuu says, we see a clear-cut Lala or Miqo 'in charge' we can't be CERTAIN... but then again, we can't dismiss the chance Roe or Elezan could be up there either. Or... the possibility that Elezan and Roe could be 'seen' differently than Miqo or Lala. I mean... if the Garleans hate beastmen so, it seems possible they might see Miqo as a lower 'being' than the more 'human' races. ESPECIALLY if the Garlean are known to be very intelligent- and the Miqo are not as educated. Anyway... its enough to play with for my purposes. thanks again- but feel free to continue the discussion. I'm very interested to hear your thoughts! ((Not that I am promoting any sort of specieism or racism here- I'm not. But just trying to think this out in terms of... well... conquering nations IRL. And how those that are different from 'you' are often seen))

Welcome to the party!

Welcome, welcome! Also a FF newbie here amidst giants, so *comfort/support hugs*

Hi, welcome! I'm in the same boat- still poking about some in GW2, but bored overall. Missing the great, indepth RP and a wonderful community. And... haha... more than a bit nervous putting myself out here in a world where I'm -totally- unfamiliar among those that eat, sleep and breathe FF... But... *fist to the sky* I will endure! .... even if I fall on my face to the amusement of all... *coughs* Anyway... I look forward to meeting you in Eoreza.... and getting to know you here

Welcome from another newcomer!

Thanks all Glad to be here & looking forward to meeting you all! Yes... SDCC was really fun. But gah, was I nervous! hahaaha... never been to anything like that before, and not really a comic guru and went there solo. BUT... It was crazy fun. Sure, you saw the kinda scarily dressed folks (yanno those whose outfit did NOT compliment their physique... ), but also saw some really phenomenally dressed folks, people IC (I think there was a WoD battle there at one time: vamps vs wolves)... and all that- but everyone was just having fun. And that was all that mattered hehe ... it was also where I first learned of Twilight... and my ear-drums are still recovering... haha. And... where I got to watch the red-carpet premiere of Continuum with the cast of SG-1 (*geek squee* I loved the original crew of SG-1). Super cool to be able to 'meet' folks you normally see only on TV or movies- and get their take. Would love to be there for a Firefly panel (I hear Weadon & Nathan Fillion and crew are working towards rights for a new Firefly series *crosses fingers*). Hm... a lot of energy, a lot of fun. People dressed up and no one thinking you're weird for doing so... hehehe good stuff. And LOTS of really cool comics, authors and artists all over!!! I'd like to go back, this time for more than a day Thanks Scarlet and Xenedra. Great to know I'm among like-minded company! hehe Quality, exciting, creative, incorporating RP is priceless! *grins* ooh... cupcake! Thanks! *noms*

I am really, really desirous of solid canon and lore info. I've read Endemerrin's synopsis and seen his YouTube montage (great job! :moogle: thank you!) and been poking about the wikis... so am pretty up on what lead up to the Fall of Dalamud... but, I'm a culture/lore geek. And I'm behind the 8 ball as far as each unique culture, language, relations, and... well all that 'picky' stuff that makes our characters unique and awesome. One question in particular I had was (and mention it here as several have mentioned having extensive info on Garlamond): I know the Garlean Empire is primarily Hyur- but they take over areas, so... I'd assume other races are assimilated. But are they assimilated and held to the same scale (aka work hard, advance...) or are they seen as 'lesser'? Or are they ousted from their homelands to keep the Garlean's "pure"?

So first off- hello and welcome to all the new people that are... well still less new than me. But still... tis nice thing to do. Secondly, Hi. I'm new to FF, old to RP and MMO's. Never did PnP or LARPing- not because it doesn't sound like fun, but because never had the friends and opportunity. I -did- go to Comic Con one year in San Diego- and it was AWESOME! haha 'Course didn't dress up, because I'm just not that cool.. <_< Well... maybe not, maybe I just didn't have time to make an outfit, but we'll just move on.... Played a lot of the MMORPGs out there, first MMORPG was SWG. Fond memories of the old game, frustrated memories of the same... Still miss the great RPers and RP I encountered there (and the still-unbeatable-RP ops it offered), don't miss the fiasco and problems it had. Loved the fact that even in full Composite, I could recognize my RP buddy in a crowd... Miss having an entire universe to explore without boundaries... Am very much looking forward to the possibilities and, frankly, BEAUTIFUL world of FFXIV... and the RP community that really seems to be not only active, but thriving, creative, motivated... and diverse. I cannot wait to get IG and start interacting and letting my character live! Hm. I'm usually a lot more creative with my intros... but it's early, been up all night and my creative spark is quite dim. Forgive me.... *hangs head in shame & offers pie as a peace offering* Edit: Yeah ok... So decided to drop my RP data here (for those that wanna know) and keep the mentor thing shorter. RP history...

Hey, welcome! I'm also an Old RPer, but new and trying to learn the ropes of FFXIV... at least you're in Beta and can get a bit of a look-see. Ah well, soon enough, soon enough. (I'd probably spend the entire time in the Character Creation anyway... hehe) Hope to see/meet you IG sometime!

We must save the crystals or orbs or the moon—whatever.

hehe welcome from a fellow newbie. You know... this place could do with a pie protector... either that, or make more than one! Or maybe just a really big one that can't be easily lifted and toted off. Hm... -
Greetings! I'm in the same boat as you, Dehqon: Old to RP, new to FF. And yeah, been burned in the past, disappointed, frustrated, etc. I'm a -huge- supporter of the 'Web Theory' of RP. No, I'm not talking about spiders or other creepy crawlies... I mean this: My story/adventure or your story/adventure stimulates more RP interactions with *hopefully* others, who, in turn have their RP take directions they didn't necessarily plan, and others get involved. Maybe it rolls back to me, or you... or maybe it doesn't immediately (or ever), but other stuff grows from what we started. Like a ripple in a pond... but I like the web allegory better since it makes us all entwined in a way... not concentric circles that might never interact again. Also, I think romantic RP has its place, but... if it gets to the point where other RP interactions suffer, or is so inclusive that no one else can participate in adventures with you, it is too much. I like romantic RP as much as the next person- but, just like in RL, you don't 'live' in the honeymoon phase all the time. Gotta interact, be social and involve others in your life. And this goes for the exclusive RP interactions too- hey, I'm guilty of liking to RP with people I know, trust and feel comfortable with. But there are also a lot of really awesome RPers out there people never meet if they keep things 'closed doors'. And it is really off-setting when you're the really motivated RPer with a lot to offer- and are shut down at the gate. So yeah, totally understand. It's not negative to want a thriving, interactive RP community. I've been in some nasty ones.. but, like Aehtel said, you just brush off the crap and move on and try again. Their loss, IMHO. I've met some really great people and RPers in MMOs... and I'm very much looking forward to meeting more here!

Hello everyone New to FF, experienced RPer. Basically, I'd like a mentor to help me weed through the culture/lore and... when I eventually get IG.. hopefully help me integrate? And thanks for being so welcoming to the new people that will be joining you 'Legacies'. Oh lastly... I've not received a Beta key yet, but my friend is in Beta and says that Phase 4 will be "Open" so... I should get in *eventually* before launch. I don't know enough right now to ask a specific person to mentor me... and, I'm kinda shy... haha... so anyway. If anyone is interested, most of my info is on the intro thread...
