Yep... Balmung is where all the Legacy and 1.0 folks that want to keep their characters are going. They have no choice- they HAVE to go to a Legacy designated server. The rest of us... newbies to the game... can go where ever we want. A lot of us are also going to Balmung to take advantage of the rich RP history and resources offered by the Legacy/1.0 members IG. BUT... Not all. Some want to start totally fresh on a new server (Gilgamesh) and get their lore/RP info from the forums or by playing IG only. Either way, the RPC is here, to be used and the members very open and helpful to everyone. Including those that are not going to either Gilgamesh or Balmung... though our focus here will be those two. good luck getting a beta key! I -just- got mine the last day of the last beta... and was only able to play a few hours before shut down (stupid computer kept sleeping on me and stopping the DL! *grumble*) Be sure to keep an eye on the server forum sections- I believe Magellan (Balmung) and Rock (Gilgamesh) are organizing Meet and Greets for all interested new RPers (and members to RPC) to help folks get to know eachother before launch.

I totally understand. A character really doesn't come to life for me until I have a chance to derp around in the Character creation... then suddenly I'll find my character staring back at me going "Hello there..." And everything kinda falls into place. AND... I'm also a recent immigrant from GW2- in fact, my entire Linkshell is. The game was fun for a bit, but recently has become really.... disappointing. The time for my rant is not now regarding this- but very, very glad to see the direction ARR seems to be going as far as RP ops and 'world immersion.' Ahh.. well thing with the linkshells is this: Its just a way to chat and meet folks that seem like cool people. Nothing hardcore- you have be a part of 8 total. Rather like a focused chat room, as I understand it. Now... the Free Companies is the true "guild" where you're representing and gaining points and... well whatever ARR offers as guild perks. You can only join one. In the Linkshell area, there are a listing of both IC and OOC shells- some are even meant to NEVER be a Free Company, but just a way to network and/or keep in touch. The way I see it: cool way to meet people and know that if your guild is offline, you can always hop to another group you get on well with and find someone to chat or RP with. AND ... lastly... Your english is very good. Don't let that stress you out. Even if you get tonguetied in the middle of RP IG, we are cool folks and will be patient or help you find the word. No se preocupe, mi amigo!

Oh very good then! So... then... is there also a quest to get you started in gathering? Or do you just buy the tool? (I admit I got into this last Beta super late at night and really didn't get far to do anything more than char creation and test out the first 3 levels of fighting with each of the three main weapons/classes I'm considering for my main) AND... I was skipping a lot of the "!"s because I want to do them at launch/phase 4... when I can really get IC and out of "beta tester mode" LOL thanks for the quick response!

Hey Zizirimu- Not really one to speak on the canon and lore aspect- as I'm new to it myself and -really- don't know anything about Lala history (as I will not be playing one- but hope to gain a strong understanding of all the Eorzean cultures via RP and directed research)... But I found your storyline idea to be rather interesting and creative. My only concern would be a word of caution to not make A'zizi -too- good at everything that he becomes a Gary Lou (or whatever the male version of the Mary Sue is.. haha). I think linking a bio of him would be good- one that lists his strengths, weaknesses, etc- so that readers of the above could get a more complete understanding of who he is- not just the legend. If you DO plan to make him some sort of Bright One reborn... cool... but just make him relate-able too. Give him areas in which he can grow/develop, frailties and so forth. It seems from my reading of threads here, and the wiki, that the FF universe is quite large and forgiving of unique/unusual takes on things and events- so it =seems= your idea could work... especially if you have a good RP story to explain things and, as I said before, ensure he's not "Super Lala".

SWG and EQ2! *is giddy to make furniture for some reason* Crafting is definitely on the list to fiddle with next Beta.... Do you get started simply by buying the needed tool? or is there an intro quest to get you started? I talked to one Guild Master (LW, I think it was)... but he didn't offer me any starting quest or... direction as to how to start. (and didn't have enough gil at the time to buy any tool to try it out)

so in other words... The RP is wide open, however you choose to play it. And it may all just come out in the normal passage of time and rhythm of RP interactions. Good. I'm all about various types and interpretations of RP that adheres to accepted world lore. And seems... the canon lore here is pretty vague. Which gives us wiggle room in which to dance and create. Whereas vagueness can be very annoying (some of us want yes and no answers), some allows for us to let our minds expand into the realm of "oohh what if?" and "maybe..." Good stuff- the more valid RP avenues that can be explored to enhance RP overall, the better. But just so yanno... if I see a cadre of Twilight vamps/wolves 'transported' here by the Aether... or a Jedi that was 'drawn by the Force' to come help, etc... somehow 'pulled in' by Louisioux's spell... I'll choke someone. :evil:

Meh... just to clarify my 'rare' statement... I'm not saying WoL would be 1 in a million... I just mean relatively speaking. Out of 5k, 500 are WoL. That's still rare. Now if there were 2k WoL to 5k... I'd say 'ok.. just uncommon' :moogle:
