You have nothing on me in that department, Soren, but I had an awesome time. I can't wait to have fun with you all in game! Thanks for having me on the show!

>.> I'm just now seeing this. Okay, I've never done a podcast or been on one, so can someone tell me what I need? I have an earpiece/mic that I use for Teamspeak. In terms of information, I'll try to scramble some stuff together for you.

Here are the site badges I prepared. I can do more of varying sizes. These are just the ones I've done.

Congratulations to the two of you. My luck is trashed yet again.

I'm still disappointed that Ishgard isn't a starting city. That would have been my choice.

That's rather large for a button and won't fit in the margins of most websites. I'm working on some buttons myself, and I suppose I will present them at the meeting.

Do we vote here? Mine is also for Aguacatin

These are the definitions as I have used in the past:

Day progression! Right. Ha. Forgot about that.

Doesn't FFXI go Fire-Water-Wind-Earth-Lightning-Ice? This one goes Fire-Earth-Water-Wind-Ice-Lightning

In fact, so is mine. Very strange.

(Forgive me if someone has said this before and I missed it.) Since there have been hints that we will be able to choose a birthday or 'nameday' for our characters, and that it might possibly influence statistics, I got to thinking about the Eorzean zodiac. When information was released about the Twelve, and each was given a different moon, this kind of clicked into place for me. Like the Zodiac signs, it is my assumption that each of the Twelve will rule over a zodiacal sign as well. It makes sense, since their moons all go in an elemental pattern: Azeyma - First Moon - Fire Nophica - Second Moon - Earth Thaliak - Third Moon - Water Llymlaen - Fourth Moon - Wind Halone - Fifth Moon - Ice Byregot - Sixth Moon - Lightning Nald'thal - Seventh Moon - Fire Althyk - Eighth Moon - Earth Nymeia - Ninth Moon - Water Oschon - Tenth Moon - Wind Menphina - Eleventh Moon - Ice Rhalgr - Twelfth Moon - Lightning I think this might give us an insight into a little bit about our characters' horoscopes, should we wish to play around with that, especially given the specialties of each of the Twelve. For example, it might be fortuitous for a seamstress to be born in the ninth moon of the year, given that Nymeia is a weaver. It also may mean that we are assigned a certain element depending when in the year our character is born. Like, if you were born in the twelfth month, you might have good defense against lightning. Please note that this is all conjecture.

I think that the attributes probably relate to elements rather than actual stats. Like if your attributes lean you toward a fire aura, or an ice aura, being able to have certain defenses against these sorts of things. But that's just my guess.

A little leaked information. I do not reveal my sources on this and it may be altered during the course of testing, so treat as rumor only. When you create your character, as well as being able to choose race, gender, looks, job class, and starting city-state, you can also choose your nameday (birthday), and guardian (primary deity), and it is hinted that all of these factors may affect your attributes in the game.

LostBoys on Leviathan is on an indefinite hiatus. We may attempt to kick back up again, but at this point are not active.

I'm having a little trouble with the camera angle, it makes me a little seasick if I move around too fast, but I'll probably be glued to it all tonight.

The more I review this thread, the more I feel as though we're simply stifling our own creativity with all of these examples. Of course, we have all had the people who go a little over the top in order to draw attention only to them, and in those situations, it just serves to make role-play less fun for everyone else. But on the whole, I think that many of these 'cliche elements' can be and will be role-played successfully. Many of our own characters are surely going to use elements from each of these things. And while we may not play through a two-week pregnancy, I'm sure many of you can admit that playing a nine-month one is pretty hardcore. Which isn't to say I don't respect anyone who attempted such, but if I had a female character attempting to storyline a pregnancy, I'm not sure I could do it for nine months! The point being - some role-players are more hardcore than others, and while we may all play differently, I'm not sure that our differences lessen each others' experiences and stories. I think, as a successful coalition, we need to accept that some things are cliche because they're popular avenues for story, and have been used again and again throughout many of the books, comics, and movies we love - even things that may not be quite realistic in real life. We will all run into role-players whose stories and actions we won't entirely agree with, but again, by frowning upon certain aspects of role-play, we're simply stifling another person's creativity - someone that may actually end up creating a rich and powerful story. I'm not saying that this thread isn't useful, but at the same time, I think we need to keep in mind that while these things may have been used a lot in stories before, they are going to be used again because they have worked for others in the past.

A few things that didn't go over real well on Leviathan: [*]Mixed Breeds (An Elvaan with furry ears and a tail) [*]Off-planet arrivals; aliens. [*]Historical/Famous persons[/list:u] We did approve the following, as long as they were done tastefully: [*]Past lives with non-Galka characters [*]Long-life (Since we don't know how long certain races lived, some Elvaan or Galka claimed to be over 100.) [*]Prison-breakouts [*]Spies/Assassins [*]Nobility[/list:u] And I agree that it could be construed that this thread was simply intended to gossip about others. Above, I simply listed what was accepted in my guild and what we had a hard time accepting.

It's between two schools of thought. Script and Story role-playing. In script role-playing you would most likely always type in present tense, use action marks to describe actions, and may type your name before the action (If you're on a forum and not in the actual game.) Ex: Regan: ::pants for breath, reaching into her backpack for a glass of water:: I thought you said it was only a few miles? In story role-playing, you may speak in present or past tense, use quotations for speaking, and type in the form of paragraphs describing the actions and surroundings instead of using the action marks. Ex: Regan panted for breath, reaching into her backpack for a glass of water. "I thought this was only a few miles?" or Ex: Regan pants for breath, reaching into her backpack for a glass of water. "I thought this was only a few miles?" Over a linkpearl or other chat device, role-play is most likely to be almost entirely audio-based, which would favor the script style of role-playing. However, in person, whether walking through the woods of Eorzea together or bumping into one another in town, it would favor using emotes to aid you in creating a story based role-play encounter.

I agree that the most common usages I have seen have been: [*]::__:: or *__* for actions [*]~__~ for sing-song or singing [*]/__/ or CAPS for emphasis (/__/ sometimes for telepathy, if you're into that kind of thing.) [*]((__)) or (__) for Out-of-Character[/list:u]

For the most part, I agree and abide by everything that Jakky expressed. I couldn't have said it better myself. Now, on the issue of IC vs. OOC. Several things. [*]I would really like to see a universal system for expressing Out-Of-Character in the RPC. As many of you have said, many role-players have a different means of expressing "mun bubbles." If we can vote on and approve a system, such as ((__)), I think it may help clear up several misunderstandings ahead of time. [*]As Jakky said, there are times when role-players may drop character completely in the game when it is deemed inappropriate. On our own servers, when we were all split up, that happened more often than not, because many people do not accept role-playing as party-friendly. My own guild recommended against it, because most people get annoyed at emotes screwing up the tactics of a party. I'm not sure how much this is going to change on a role-play friendly server, but perhaps we should set aside some things to think about for role-players to respect non-role-players and their ability to have fun in the game. Because let's face it. We're not the only ones who have a style of play that they enjoy and don't want to be trampled on. [*]On the website, it is listed that guilds will be organized by casual to hardcore role-play ratings. I think that our guidelines on casual vs. hardcore play should coincide with those references, so as not to confuse people.[/list:u]

Might as well put in the things I've done for myself and my crew. Avatars: For two linkshell members: My first signatures for Keir: Hell for a Heaven signature series: For my secondary character:
