Do you have any preference as to K'yohko's family history, or can I just connect him to whoever? Ooh if you have stuff, do provide! And I will get them in. It's easy to move stuff around to make room for more people because I've got everything on its own layer in PSE10 haha.
-
Okay, a very rough draft of a tentative family tree - photos included where I could find them. R'aqsha would fit in the same generation as K'airi, K'airos, and K'aijeen, and would be the second nunh alongside K'yohko (who sired Wolf and Clover's characters). These are miqo'te in their 20s or 30s. There are a lot of gaps where I'm not sure where we want to connect characters and/or fill in places with additional PCs/NPCs. R'aqsha, I'd very much appreciate input regarding your character's family history as it could fit into this tree! Also, anyone else please provide feedback.

Awesome!! :3 I'm getting super excited about this. What generation line do you think they would fall into (so I can place them in the tree properly)?
-
I have not! So far, the tree looks roughly like this: Older generations | K'jhanhi Nunh Displaced Nunh + K'deiki Nhyt + Keeper lady | | K'piru Jhanhi Sister **Nunh + Tias** Half-Keeper Daughter + K'thalen Nunh + some mate | | K'airi K'airos K'aijeen **2 Nunhs + Tias** Khaze'to | New (teenage and younger) generation I'm making an actual graphic to represent the family tree, but I think this quick little thing is good enough to get a rough idea, yea? There are a lot of gaps where there's room for folk to fill in. Though the two nunhs from Antimony's parents' generation are filled, there is a gap where a second nunh from another player could come in alongside K'thalen, who was Antimony's mate. A character in this generational spot would be in their 40s or 50s right now. There are also two available nunh spots from the generation after that (those in their 20s or 30s) where I haven't come up with any characters, nor has someone else volunteered for the role. Likewise, there are so far no tias currently being played by anyone, so those are up for grabs! And of course, there are a lot of other women in the tribe who could fit in any generation and who could have mated with any of the nunhs (or not mated, depending on one's preference). [edit] I'm not sure if this properly clarified things. Let me know if I missed something haha.

Ooo, happily! :3 We're hoping to post a bit of a blurb on our LS within the next few days (just gotta hammer out a few details), so keep an eye out and perhaps we can start brewing something up!
-
Awesome! :3 If you think of a name, let me know - for now I'll just put him in as "displaced nunh" or something and branch your character from there. Gah, I want that offline character creater NOW so I can continue making pictures for the family tree.

Fantastic idea. Pre-Calamity - Anyone who wants to be involved in the K tribe myself and others are loosely building may have known my character (see thread here for more info). Post-Calamity - Antimony works in assets management and assessment, often as an auditor. If your character has a business, they may be familiar with her employer and/or recognize her. Depending on how well-connected your character is business-wise, they may be familiar with a few rumors surrounding her and her employer - primarily, that clients her employer sends her out to audit can often end up "missing". - Some time around the game's release, Antimony will begin employ at a new organization, the Commerce Regulation Agency, carrying out similar auditing and management tasks that she's done in the past. Again, for characters involved in a business, they may know her and/or the organization in passing. - Some may recognize her as a common fixture hanging around outside the arcanist guild in Limsa Lominsa, though she doesn't often actually step inside.

That's fine! His grandfather, whoever you want him to be, could have definitely been the second nunh alongside my own character's father (who, in case your curious, is pictured here). Do you have a name for him so I can include him in the family tree?
-
Fantastic guide, and as someone entirely new to FF crafting, this was immensely helpful. One thing I'm still not sure of is how one gets HQ items. Do you have to fill the bottom bar up entirely? Also, do you mind if I cross-post this onto my FC's page with credit and linking to your post? I feel like it would be really useful.

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Naunet replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
Is swearing not allowed in the other chat or something? I didn't ask about the presence of a skype chat because I was suspicious about any goings on or anything, though, to be clear. I just had no clue there was a community chat. Not sure how comfortable I am giving out my real name, though, as that's what my Skype account uses. I'll think about it. -
Physical advantages of the races of Eorzia
Naunet replied to Khaze'to Zhwan's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Having roleplayed characters in the past who belonged to races with lore-supported "super senses" so to speak, I've found that including such things into one's RP can be great fun. For example, elves in TERA are said to have such great hearing that their archers can triangulate the precise position of a target from seemingly impossible distances. For one of my characters, this wasn't something that came up (rather the opposite, as I roleplayed her as having rather poor hearing when it came to elves), but for another I really played it up when I could, even giving her a magitech-crafted earpiece that she could use to enhance her hearing further when needed. She was a scout and an information gatherer, so this skill synergized well with her roleplay. The /say range in TERA is fairly long, so I generally roleplayed that it was possible for her to hear something as long as I could see it in chat. To avoid accusations of god-moding (which is not something I partake in), I generally only applied it when my character was specifically listening to someone. If they said something to another person a whisper, I would /w them and ask if I could get a repeat of what they said because my character could hear them (elven hearing and all). Usually this was met amiably. I fully intend to make use of such traits when appropriate in ARR roleplay. They can be great fun! -
Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view

So... ... is there some kind of community skype chat or something? o.0 -
Seeker tribes are capable of branching off one another. For example if a tia from some K' tribe decided to take over new territory to become a nunh, he'd probably bring along several females and they would start their own K' tribe. They would technically all be distantly related, but it's entirely possible that children born into one branch would never have met those of another branch in the K' tribe. Is this something you'd be interested in including into your RP? Either as part of this tribe, or as a member of a branch - or, if you wanted, my character's tribe could be the branch and your character could belong to the "source" tribe so to speak (the one that the tia came from when setting out to start a new tribe in new territory).
-
Cool, I can totally work that into things. If he's your character's grandfather... how old is your character? I'm thinking he would have then been the other nunh alongside my own character's father (as the tribe has 1-2 nunhs per generation gap), but this is assuming your character is significantly older than my own (who is in her mid 50s ).
-
That would be fine! Excellent, even! By displaced, do you mean simply ursurped by a new, younger and more virile Nunh, or do you mean he was exiled for doing something bad? Either one could be possible considering the image I have in my head is a tribe that's fairly traditionally structured. I'm going to try to construct a "family tree" of sorts for the K' tribe over the next week or so to tie in my characters and other people's characters in a more visual map.

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Naunet replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
As a member of TERA's RP community, I should resent that. xP The focus for me, in topics like this, isn't the mating per se but the culture and societal structure as a whole (gender roles or lackthereof, tribal stratification, duties and activities and how these are distributed on an individual and group level). But that's just me. -
SO HAPPY!!!!!
-
Definitely! If the idea of tracking down missing people appeals to you, we could work with that for some fun times. I think there are lots of ways to finagle the roleplay in a way that won't make you feel alone - especially if I can recruit more folk into the K' tribe fold. >:3 That, indeed, would be awesome - so if there's anyone else out there who wants to make a character involved in this tribe, please feel free to speak up and do so! I'd love for it to become an organic thing all on its own.

I helped set up and proliferate regular storytelling events in WoW and TERA, as well as attended a few in Aion and Rift, and enjoyed them very much, so I would wholly support seeing such a thing in ARR. I think the amphitheatre in Gridania would be an excellent location, to be honest, but then I am not one to shy away from roleplaying out in the open. Not really a fan of hiding in holes.

Are you kidding me? The blood is the best part! It's fun to read what other folk are doing with their loot tables, though I feel a little silly now with mine. Oh well.

Miqo’te Mating Strategies Explored: a biologist’s point of view
Naunet replied to Myxie Tryxle's topic in Lore Discussion
Bah, c'mon, NK. This is a lot different than TERA's erp-fest. Also, hello there. -
As an ardent Forsaken player for many, many years, I could go on a rant for so long about this!
-
The more notable fact surrounding this phenomenon is that their worth as characters is not dependent on some male companion/lover/mentor/friend/whatever.
-
Sure! It's a fairly traditional Seeker tribe. They're nomads of the Sagolii desert, so they're on the move across the dunes a lot. During the brief rainy seasons, there's a danger of flash floods, so they sometimes take shelter in the cliffs along the edge of the desert, though that becomes an act of balancing the risks of flood with the risks of landslide. There's probably 20-30ish miqo'te in the tribe, with a couple Nunhs that tend to change for each generation of members and half a dozen or so Tias. Hunting is largely the duty of the females of the tribe, with some exceptions, while the Tias typically stay with the too old or too young and deal with handling the meat and other supplies the hunters bring back. It's a very communal situation, both in terms of raising children and just in day-to-day survival. Right before the Calamity, a lot of the tribe left to attend the battle at Carteneau, feeling an obligation to defend Eorzea. This included a number of the males as well (including the Nunh who was my character's mate). My own character, Antimony (formerly K'piru), has no current contact with the tribe, though it's possible that could change in the future via RP. The situation with her three daughters (K'airi, K'airos, and K'aijeen - all played by other people) is complex. All of them were around the tribe long enough that, if you wanted, your own character could have known any of them fairly well. If you want, you can read my character's bio, which could give you insight into the interactions within the tribe. Anyway, there's a lot of room for you to make your own mark on the tribe, if you so want. ^^

Urgh. I am so bad at things. Can't figure out the wiki thing, and apparently can't figure out how to copy and paste properly!
