I mean, the fact that Nybeth exists in the world means sure, necromancers exist.. but he is probably the most experienced at his craft in the world and even he could only essentially reanimate people as mindless husks or dolls. I'm not aware of any other ways to make your character as old as you're likely thinking, at least not without bending or breaking the lore. I personally would avoid something like this if you didn't have a dedicated group of people to RP with who were okay with the idea, but you do you, just don't be surprised if people don't play along.

Hey guys! So I've finally got my character all caught up on content and have grabbed all of the current PVP event mounts and am looking to just relax, settle into a routine gameplay wise and start really getting into the RP side of things. I'm already part of a great FC, but real life commitments and my bizarre sleep schedule keep me from taking part in too many events so I figured I'd poke my head in here to see if any morning-midday or late night players in the EST timezone were interested, in particular. Not to say I'd be wholly unavailable outside of those times, but it's rare for me to find time to sit down and really commit to something in-game outside of those periods. RP via Skype or other messenger (which I am also totally up for!) where posts can be made whenever one has time are different entirely. My character is Elijah Ballard, a somewhat cocky midlander adventurer and huntsman from a tiny hamlet in the Twelveswood. Since leaving home he's made it something of a goal to see as much of Eorzea as possible so it shouldn't be too difficult to arrange meetings or prior acquaintances, and I'm more than happy to hash out details of a possible meetup via PMs or something. There's more information about him in the wiki page linked in my signature, though it's very much a work in progress. So yeah, I look forward to hearing from folks, and thanks for taking the time to read this!

Just a small bump for this community, OP is a friend of mine and while they've left Balmung I can't recommend them enough for those who want to RP on Mateus or are unable to get on Balmung. Very cool RPer, very sweet and dedicated individual. Good luck with your project!

Welcome to the community. I'm also on Balmung, but I've heard good things about Gilgamesh's RP community from friends so I'm sure you'll be fine over there. Hope you enjoy the game, it's easily the best MMO on the market right now.

As someone with social phobia and actually cooping with it (because honestly, you will never get 'over it'), that is exactly what needs to be told to people: that they need to stop fucking hiding and get out there. Not everyone is out there to get you. You ain't going to achieve jack shit in roleplay, or in real life, if you're going to be coddled constantly. The fact people bring this up and use it an excuse for people to hide behind is utterly disgusting to me, and in fact you're just enabling their social anxiety by stating this nonsense. Privileged lens? C'mon man, every person has issues. Is it harsh to say? Yes, but it is better then constantly enabling and talking their behaviour 'right'. There's a difference in acknowledging it, and enabling it. Stop enabling social anxiety and social phobia. It's very harmful to those people and you're really not helping by letting them use it as an excuse and not a reason. Edit: Also my excuses if this was not your intention to come across, I'm getting slightly drunk, English is not my native language, and I'm just generally sick and tired by people using any disorder as an excuse and not a reason. People handle anxiety and disorders in different ways and unless you're a medical professional shouldn't tell them they're doing it wrong. I'll agree that the OP came in frustrated and somewhat accusatory, but she likely just needed to vent and things weren't helped by your post on the first page that came off -way- more aggressive than anyone else or was necessary. You talked about how threads like this are damaging to community, but I feel that people chasing others away for legitimate concerns is more damaging, even if you're 'sick of hearing them'. You can just not read the threads.

Elijah will overeat if people keep putting food in front of him, having been raised in a family where not a crumb could go to waste. Thankfully he's got a metabolism to match his go-go-go attitude and has trouble putting on any weight, though this includes the muscle definition he'd so love to build up. Perpetually lean.

Glad there's no new race. Always annoying to see a huge influx of people playing the new thing and then the sharp drop off. Would rather they flesh out what we have (and not by adding playable children/childlike bodies like some people are creepily obsessed with.

It's frustrating, but all you can do is get out there over and over. Posting ads in this and other forums helps too, as does joining an FC and LS. I don't know you, OP, so I can't talk in specifics but there's really no end all be all way to meet people and all you can do is keep trying. There are cool people out there and I'd be happy to RP with you if you get in touch. That being said, people who claim the community isn't cliquey/can't possibly be insular and hard to breach are usually the ones with already massive followings and networks of connections, usually the same 10-20 people who post here every day and sometimes come off as holier than thou. It's not hard for 'celebrities' to meet new people, not even on alts, but for someone who's an unknown it's a different story. Try to be more kind, some of the first few replies were needlessly vicious.

I think they should be limited to someone who's already cleared the story at least once on their account, but that's just me.
