Found a bit of information regarding this issue on Reddit. Someone called the support line and actually got to talk to someone! Here's their answer: Looks like there's not much to be done except wait for a server reset. Which hopefully should be before they open the flood gates for the rest of the world tomorrow.
-
I've tried making another character on the same account but it doesn't let me log into that either. I've been surfing around the internet though and it looks like it'll either straighten itself out on its own for you OR you'll have to wait for a server reset. Mine has been down for nearly 3 hours so I'm guessing I'll have to wait for that reset.
-
It's been an hour for me and I still can't get in. Sigh. Thanks guys. Maybe I'll just let it sit for 20 minutes and try again.
-
Siiiiigh. Well. Thanks. At least I know I'm not alone. All the info I found on Google is from 2010.

Is anyone else getting the error 3102? Something about still being logged into the game and to wait for your account to log back out? I disconnected, now I can't get back in! D: It's been this way for about half an hour now. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Welcome to the club! Your character's story seems to have a few things in common with both Eve's and Anselm's. Maybe we can do an IC group therapy session or something, bahah! Also, woot! Gotta show love for the GW2 crowd! \o/ Glad you're with us and I'll see you around I'm sure.

Interesting! Thanks guys! My main reason for making this thread is to sort of toy with my characters' last names. Eve Nightingale and Anselm Greyrider. Nightingale is definitely a stretch when it comes to last names, but I had always intended for her to have given it to herself. I was just curious as to whether or not that was a common occurrence in Highlander society or not. That does make sense. It's sort of what I was thinking. Either a last name or Erikson/Erikdottir or whatever, then if they earn their own name then so be it! Ah! That's what I was looking for. NPC examples. I've not played in any of the previous betas and was wondering what the Highlanders in the game go by. Aldynn is very much a traditional sounding surname in the way we're used to hearing them, so that's interesting. That's an interesting take. I knew that their first names were very Germanic sounding, but the examples given to us on the official naming conventions sticky didn't have last names that sounded particularly German. Again, I've not been in the game itself yet so that was just my interpretation but your Ruben -> Raubahn sounds legit!

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about Highlander family names outside of the little tidbit we got from the lore sticky on the official forums. The bolded bit made me wonder if they don't really have family names as we know them. I know that they're based off Germanic and Normadic roots, but do they inherit a last name from their parents or do they establish their own last name? Names like Erikson (Son of Erik) or, as the quote says, titles earned in battle? Or not necessarily even battle. Just things they're known for? Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had seen anything in the game itself or knew something that could shed some light on this topic!

Awesome thread! I'm totally interested in making loose connections to build relationships off of and stuff! Eve is a mercenary mender that hangs out around Ul'dah. She never coordinates her own groups though, she sort of scavenges off pre-formed companies with the whole "Hey, give me 10% of whatever you find and I'll make sure you get out of there in one piece." angle. So! If your character is a bounty hunter or a treasure hunter or anything like that, then we could possibly say that Eve and your character did a job together some time Also, Anselm Greyrider is a sleezy pirate so ladies feel free to slap him if you see him.
-
What a cool idea! You might know Eve from... Anywhere in/around Ul'dah. If you're eyeing a posted bounty with intent on going out after it, she might propose a partnership. (This is her main form of finding work, so if you'd like to say we did do a job together at one time then that's fine!) Once in a while she'll pop down to Limsa Lominsa, but the last time she went was before the Calamity. She studied briefly at Gridania and sometimes revisits to check in on friends.

I have been on a baking rampage for the past few weeks. The best thing? Betty Crocker Super Moist cake mix + a couple of tablespoons of cooking oil + 2 eggs = Delicious, easy cookies. I'm talking funfetti cookies, vanilla, chocolate, carrot, spice. Oh yeah! Here's a flippin' awesome easy recipe for everyone! Take the spice cake mix, make the cookie batter I explained above. Then take some granny smith apples, chop them up into tiny pieces and throw them in. Mix it up, plop cookie-sized portions onto a baking sheet, bake at 350 until golden brown. Then take vanilla icing (the cheap kind you buy at the store) and put a little bit in a cup. Microwave it for 15-30 seconds until it's runny and then drizzle it over the cookies. I #%@($ love easy baking.

Welcome Vaux! Good to have you with us! And gosh, if English isn't your strongest point then I feel a little uncertain about my own grasp of the dang language. Hope you enjoy your time here. ^^ I was an avid GW2 roleplayer since launch, but only recently dropped it once I got all hyped up over FFXIV. And yes, your experience with Tera roleplay pretty much lines up with mine lol. I think I roleplayed a handful of times with guild mates and then maybe a bit of casual tavern roleplay but...that was it. Shame! Such a great looking game and a neat story. Anywho. Hope to see you in the game!

I just wanna say that me and my roommate in college used to get the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies all the time. One night we decided we wanted cookies at like...pft, 8:30 at night. So we swing through the drive-thru and order like 4 of them. The guy gave us about a dozen because they were going to throw them out since it was almost closing time. I still love that man.

Hmm, I haven't. I've been mostly inactive for the past two months though. There are quite a few of us TCers here though so you should feel right at home!
-
Welcome! Wow, you've got a pretty long list of games there. And woohoo! More Guild Wars 2 people! \o/ If you came in from Tarnished Coast, I'd love to be your friend. I mean I'd love to be your friend anyway but TC'ers are my interweb family! Hope to see you in the game!
-
Welcome aboard! More WoW transfers, heh. That game will always have a special place in my heart, but I'm too flippin' excited for FFXIV to play anything right now. I just stare at the forums and comb through my characters' biographies and stuff. Anyway! I hope you enjoy your time here on the RPC and I'll catch ya on Balmung!

Welcome Jove! I think everyone can appreciate that style of roleplaying, so I doubt you'll have a difficult time finding friends. Who doesn't love immersion?! Enjoy your time here and hope to see you in the game!

What a neat thing to think about! I think Eve would smell like sweat and/or smoke! She sits around in taverns and tries to pick up work there, so yeah. I imagine she enjoys sitting around fireplaces and then of course there's pipe smoke. She bathes at least somewhat regularly though, so I can't see her smelling terribly pungent. More often than not, she likely has little to no discernible odor. Anselm smells like booze and the sea. Always.

A new Dev Blog about the Unicorn Mount is up

Awww yea. Never been happier to be a White Mage. \o/ -
Oh, I think everyone here is in the same boat as far as agreeing that it should be allowed. And hey, not everyone has to fight these small fights. I personally don't have the time or money to actively fight the big fights in real life (I have my own problems), so these smaller ones are kind of my way of showing my support. I don't really feel the need to show that much respect for a discriminatory tradition. At least not the level of respect required to be okay with it in any sense (even on a video game level). Just because the culture we're discussing is on the other side of the planet doesn't mean it doesn't affect people over there. :]

That is really disheartening to hear, Ashren. If this were any lesser issue, I would say we should just..lol. Deal with it. But this is a bit more than that. I hope people do continue to pester them on this subject. I know I'll support any efforts to see same sex marriages implemented!
-
LOL Ohmygod I didn't want to say anything before but I thought of the SAME THING! Sorry Ashren, now I have to jump in on this :love:fabulous David Bowie train!

I agree and disagree! Individual posts within locked threads may become lost in the heebie jeebies of things, but they still count towards the total "Threads About X Issue". They may not be as productive as civil discussion, but I'm definitely not going to invalidate them since it's such a touchy subject to everyone and every little bit helps! I think we all agree that we want to see same sex marriages in the game, which is great. I just also think that people who get upset and angry have a right to! We all get frustrated and annoyed and offended at times. Normally, I'm more of the mind of "If you ain't got nothin' nice to say, don't say it at all!" but when it comes to things like this? I think people are justified in getting their knickers all twisted sometimes.
-
I agree wholeheartedly that discussion has a time and place (and is even necessary!) but I can totally see how this is so upsetting to so many people. I'm super glad that the world is thinking of stepping forward on this topic but it's still horribly frustrating to see it dragging along. And even if those threads get locked, it doesn't mean they don't contribute to their cause. Being locked does mean that they're being noticed. Even if only in passing.

That's definitely not cool. I'm all for raising a bit of ruckus then. People rarely listen to calm and collected when it comes to stuff like this. And even if they did, it still doesn't mean people shouldn't get super upset over this. Extremes are (unfortunately) often a necessity. Either by screaming and yelling and pitching a fit or by putting your money where your mouth is and hitting em where it hurts the most: their wallet.
