Welcome to the final fantasy role play community! I'm relatively new as well, used to play WoW on Moon Guard(ick I know) and guild wars 2 on tarnished coast as well. So far the community has been awesome, the forums are always pretty active. Open-IC RP threads are always bouncing around(I have one open atm as well) and various things. So, I am sure you'll feel right at home!

I think it is the shadows. Notice it on her left shoulder by the leather strap? The shadows look kinda goofy too. It might just be the creation kit as I never noticed it in-game, but I did notice it when I was making a character during beta-3.

So.. I just made a pb&j. BUT.. instead of bread.. I used.. This is quite possibly one of the best things I have ever eaten. And so it brings to my attention that I am not the only weird person out there.. so what do you all do/add to your PB&J? I could also be the only weird person in the world that does this to a PB&J sandwich, too..

Considering blocking someone doesn't block them on the emote channel... yeah. If we're worrying about griefers, our attention would be better spent petitioning Squee to fix it so that blocking works across all channels. That is a good point. Maybe I will add that into the suggestion of making another emote list with "hold" in it, to hold the position, or makign them last-till-cancled. Good idea!

Also, feel free to emote for the bar-keeps/various possible NPCs within the tavern. I will only be role playing my character after this initial post. Location: A tavern in Gridania (I'm not 100% sure if there is an actual tavern or inn in Gridania, but for sake of role play, and the fact that the world is likely bigger than the actual In-game version, lets say there is.) located nearby the market district. I'm not the best at writing scenes, but I wanna RP and I am sure many of you do, too.. Soo here goes nothing! Scene: The sun was beginning to set, sending flickers of light dancing behind the tree-tops. It was the usual quiet night in the Black Shroud, except for the tavern nearby. Shopkeepers often looked to the tavern after closing up their displays with a sigh of relief, what better way to end a day than some sweet mead? The Tavern was weathered and worn, an old building that showed its age. Charred support beams and walls covered the north side by the enterance, it was a miracle the building survived the Calamity. Inside, laughter and shouts could be heard, along with music and singing. As one enters, the smell of mead would rush out carried by a warm front. The Black Shroud's cooler nights around this season were no match for a packed taverns climate. Comments could be heard around the bar and various tables about people's daily events. Merchants arguing over who profited more in the day, mercenaries shooting glances around in search of a client, men trying in vain to lull a woman into coming home with them. It was your typical tavern. The bar-keep was a pretty little thing, a Miqo'te woman standing at barely four and a half feet. She'd smile with a cheeky grin as you arive, her hands occupied with wiping spilt mead off of the counter. Her brother beside her passing teasing comments at her clumsiness. He stood slightly taller than his sister and maintained an attractive appearance. They certainly knew what would sell a drink, and often had one ready before people arrived to the bar. In the corner by the fireplace, a young man would be found with a few merchants sitting around him laughing and joking as they usually would. This was Felix Sideris, a midlander who seemed to be in his mid twenties at best. The only thing that stopped him from having a baby face was his facial hair, which ran down his cheeks and into a neatly groomed goatee. His attire was that of a ranger's; dark, woodland colors. Felix's cloak was a pine-green, and wrapped around his shoulders, held together in the front by a simple clasp. He had lowered his hood, and his eyes were closed with a smile pursed upon his lips as he played his pan-pipe. The song Felix is playing as you enter:

I'm relatively new to the community so I haven't gotten into any Free Companies or Linkshells yet. So we'll see! I kinda wanted to find one ICly instead of just joining one that seems good and making an IC reason for my character to join, you know? It shoots myself in the foot at the same time, though. I'm in RP withdrawl. Personally I think its a pretty cool idea! Would be nice to see more FC's/LS's recruit ICly, rather than OOCly world shouts. In the meantime, you could always start a bunch of Open RP threads here on the RPC! I think there is an RPC RP Skype channel too, but I could be wrong I'm used to IC guild recruitment because of World of Warcraft. A lot of guides there advertised OOCly, but the recruitment was largely done ICly and usually you would have to do some kind of application on their guide website. It was pretty fun, I used to be a recruiter for my friend's guild and I would spend some days just sitting in a tavern interviewing people like crazy. And.. That is a good idea! Maybe I should start an open RP thread. Hmmm...

Dude. Felix? That is an awesome name. I'm not sure how well any of it follows Hyur naming conventions, but both names seem plenty Hyurish to me! 10/10 A'eyshn Demiir, my Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te. She was originally just "Aysun," but about a month after launch I began to notice all the Seekers had apostrophes in their names, so I made up a Seekerish name for her, and made it hard to pronounce correctly, thus she goes by Aysun. This seems to be a common thing for Miqo'te these days, but back then no one else did it at least.. ^^ Aysun is actually a Turkish name, as is Demir, if you're wondering where I yoinked that from. Thanks! Hyur midlander names, maybe it's hyur in general. Usually germanic I'm pretty sure.. or something around that. And yeah, I've always loved your charater's name. Looking forward to running into you in RP!

I like this when it comes to adding quirks/oddities/habits/hobbies. Take a look, it might help further or give ideas for more! Yaein Mayweather - 9/10. I usually like names that flow really well and your's does. Yaein is stronger sounding and totally fits the highlander style, and the Mayweather adds a cute touch so in the end it results in a really womanly sounding name. I like it. Sasha Vas Godspeed - 8/10 I like the name Sasha, and the Vas is the Garlean touch, but personally I try to avoid the two-words-put-together last names because they are so commonly used in MMORPGs when it comes to roleplay.. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing. In the end, it is a good name regardless of my personal preference. My Hyur Bard's name is Felix Sideris(Sider-is).

Exactly! The thing with trolls is that, lets say they don't give a persistent /dance.. Well, people who grief and troll are going to grief and troll, and they will just use something else to do so. Such as jumping up and down on your character or spaming /kneel or something else. I agree that something like this would be more of a positive addition to the over-all community than something that we would get frusterated over. As soon as phase 4 starts I am going to do a post just like this original one on the suggestion forums and lets really hope they see it. Everyone who posted here or has at least looked at this thread should definitely support the idea if they feel the same.

o_O I've never seen people troll before with /dance. If the dance was made fluid where it could flow seamlessly then I don't think it would be a problem. And I'm not sure what odd stuff you're talking about. Either way, some of the emotes like /kneel /grovel and maybe even /salute could use it. Or maybe add another style of emotes like /grovelhold where they hold the position until influenced otherwise.

Thanks for your opinion. I always like bouncing ideas around and receiving feedback from people. The green hair is pretty cool on your Miqo'te. Normally I don't care for funky hair colors but it looks good. I think you should try silverish eyes, or maybe a shade or two paler/lighter yellow. The yellow looks fine, but I prefer it on Sunseekers over Moonkeepers. I think silver/white or blue or greens look better for moonkeepers. That is my opinion, anyway.

So, I have two different appearances I am stuck between for my character, Felix Sideris. I also have a Miqo'te version if I for some reason choose to make him Miqo'te instead. Felix is going to be a bard. Outgoing and friendly, but struggling with some things from his past, to put his story very simply. Let me know what you all think! Hopefully we can gain a good amount of support together so this can be brought to pass. More often than not, game directors and producers along with forum moderators direct their attention towards the community's more popular suggestions. Not to say that they don't pay attention to the little guy, but I feel like the more support we get for this the better chance we will have of seeing it come to life.

Of course. Plus, it just plain won't work: Emotes like "/pray" and "/kneel" will start over from the beginning which looks even more ridiculous than just doing the emote once. I just wanted to explain the "motion" thing since Shizu wasn't aware of it! I gotchya. I really hope we can get them to pass this, though. It would be such an amazing addition to the game in terms of role play.

You can suppress the text by adding "motion" after your emote, e.g. "/pose motion". This will just display the animation and won't crowd the chat! Yeah the main thing is that constantly doing /pose motion would be a pain, as Shizu said. Even if it doesn't spam the chat log, it is still a major incovience.
