I recommend taking a screen shot with the Prt Scr/SysRq key, and then opening paint up and pasting the screen shot into it. Afterwards you can use crop, crop the table and then right click and copy the crop. Re-open a new paint, paste the newly copied image. Save and upload to w/e the site you use (photobucket for me), then insert the image in a spoiler. That way people won't have to download your table to view it. Sounds a lot more complicating than it actually is. I recommend that everyone does this to make it much easier to view eachother's tables, as some people are not comfortable with downloading files from a bunch of people due to possible virus'. Read your table, though. Looks interesting.

Well, to continue with the train of character-development threads and the like.. I decided to start this one. One of my favorite RPG Character-creation guides is Ash's :moogle:.. And here I will be posting a trait table from the one that is offered on the guide's website. I edited/tweaked it a bit to fit more in-line with what I was looking for. Feel free to take this guide and place your own information into it if you would like. I am attaching the word file to make it easier for you all, just take erase my entries and fill in your own! Left side is the categories, right side is where you put your entries in. All I did to get it as a picture image was screenshot my screen, open it in paint and crop it to a reasonable size. Looking forward to seeing everyone's write ups! To fill out the table yourself, make sure you follow along with the website where it lists options to choose from to give you an idea as to what should be typed in. Mine can also be found on my character's wiki. Enjoy! Website for the guide. Remember, use it to follow along when you fill in your table! rpg.ashami.com EDIT: Sorry I should have noted that this table is only for part 1 of Ash's guide, not the background part. I suppose that is self-explanatory but I didn't want people to get confused. ;P

I never played 1.0.. But this pretty much took the words from my mouth. I remember always wanting more RP. New RP. New Stories. New connections. That is why I am going to Balmung, because I crave the biggest RP community possible so the stories will never grow stale and boring. It might sound selfish or ignorant, but smaller RP communities just don't float my boat. So for me, and for my friend, we are going to Balmung. Besides, there is a certain level of satisfaction and exhilaration that comes from carving your way into a community and leaving your footprint. It's fun to see how you, and your character, influence the community. It has been a very long time since I've had some good role play, and I have high hopes and high expectations for Balmung and this RP community as a whole. I love you guys, the community has been very welcoming and a great support to the many newly arriving players. I am greatly looking forward to meeting a lot of people and enjoying a lot of good role play. I guess, coming back from my ranting, to answer your question.. I personally suggest going to Balmung, as that is where the larger community will be. Also, considering you do not want to be pushed into a leadership role again(correct me if I am wrong), it might profit you more to be around a more established community. Another nice thing is, as Aysun explained so well, even the 1.0 players are "starting over" in one way or another, whether it be leveling a different class, re-making their Role Play, or starting from scratch all-together. In the end this is just my opinion, but for me, Balmung is already my home and I don't even have a character made on it. Bringing 10 more players(i think thats what you said?) to Balmung looking for role play, raiding and just generally a place to call home would certainly fit right in, or at least be able to merge or start a new place. If you want to establish a power-house of a LS/FC and build from the ground-up that would likely be easier on Gig., but I don't think it is impossible on Balmung either. Also, you must weight it. Do you value establishing a LS/FC and raiding more, or do you value established role play and far more role play opportunity more? If you don't want to be the one(s) starting role play events and bringing together the community or trying to build a LS/FC up, then Balmung might be the place for you. Sorry, I'm not that good at articulating myself. Let me know if you need clarifications. >.<

...My only response: O_o Not knocking it..My brain just..cannot..Wat.. Where did you come up with that?

Not that I agree or promote stealing or anything of the like. In fact, I hate how society's standards and morals have plummeted, but this isn't real life. You have to remember that part of good role play is having people willing to play the bad guys. The BEST role play i've had so far was during Wrath of the Lich King on WoW. The reason for this was because there was TONS of cultist movements, cultist guilds, people role playing that plague outbreaks were starting and all of that kind of thing. What did I rp? An informant/infiltrator. It was amazing for me because I would hunt/track down people for some of the guilds. I'd gather information on some cultists and fence it to people. It was very fun and gave me, and my character, a very interactive role in the entire community's role play. But in the end, the role play(In my opinion), died down and became very boring when everyone started the casual style of role play. Now, most people do some casual small-talk RP and it makes me sad because my character simply did not fit into it. Which was one of the few reasons as to why I quit playing WoW. So, remember, ooc=/=IC. People role playing bad/evil characters, usually their characters do not reflect their personal morals or beliefs, but they are willing to play such a character to make the community role play a little more interesting. Some don't mind doing the morally-questionable thing. But either way, a good role play community has -BOTH- good and bad characters. You need a balance in all things. You can't appreciate all of the paladins/knights/guards that role play protecting the people if they don't have murderers/thief/cultists/etc to protect them from. Just saw your other posts correcting what you meant. Should have read more before I posted. My point still stands, though.. As for inconsistent characters and characters who role play in two directions(good and bad).. That can be a good thing. Let me paint a picture for you. So, Inconsistent characters can be caught in lies, adding possible drama to role play. Drama is needed to keep things interesting. It is very easy for role play to become stale and tasteless if there isn't anything to push characters out of their comfort zones, even if that is someone spilling a drink on a character in a tavern. Drama is needed to change the direction and flow of role play and allow characters opportunity to grow in ways you as the creator might not have thought about. Characters who are both good or bad? Imagine a police chief in real life being caught stealing/robbing people. Imagine a senitor being caught doing some sort of injustice. These things happen, and what happens to these people when these things happen? It seems all of society comes down upon them and in the end they are(usually) charged for their crimes in some way. And if they aren't legally charged, they have the entirety of society looking at them in a very different light. Bad quality role play is frustrating, and I can totally connect with you on that. That is one of the reasons, as I said earlier, as to why I quit WoW. But, not everyone is a good role player or a veteran in it either. I guess what I mean in the end is that all we can really do as a community is to make the best of the cards we are dealt and try to make the community a good place for everyone.

Just turned 22 in may, for me. Nothing exciting to say, though. Pretty regular guy.

The bar had mostly cleared out aside from a few remaining gentlemen sitting at a table, who just ordered their last round, and the two Miqo'te conversing. After cleaning up the various tables and chairs, the Miqo'te siblings locked up the ale for the night and began to close up. The Miqo'te woman sat down upon the bar and bounced her legs gently, her brother went off upstairs to the private quarters. It was closing time, one in the morning, although she didn't have the heart to ask anyone to leave. Today, the tavern made quite a profit, and she wasn't tired. The fireplace had gone out, only smoldering with the occasional crack of coal. It was fairly dark now, only a few candles lit around the customers to keep them comfortable.

Even in 1.0 you could main tank all endgame content as a Warrior. There were some fights that Warrior excelled in main tanking over Paladin even. I think a lot of people forget that Paladin was actually the underdog tank in 1.0. There were many who believe that they were horrible tanks and didn't hold a candle to Warriors. So saying that Warrior has always been an off tank is a little inaccurate. Most people just didn't understand the dynamic between the two tank styles. Which thankfully, carries over to ARR. Not to the extremes as it did in 1.0 (thankfully the classes are balanced now) but the essence of that dynamic remains. The second part I have to disagree with. Paladins and Warriors can both AoE tank well in ARR. The difference is that Paladins hold AoE hate while Warriors hold AoE hate while assisting in the killing of the adds. Basically meaning that a Paladin can AoE tank, but he/she doesn't do a lot to help crowd control those adds. Warrior holds hate by thinning out adds so that Warrior doesn't have to hold the adds as long. Which works well considering Warrior's playstyle. Paladins can sit there with a boss and a couple dozen adds all day and mitigate the damage until DDs take care of adds. Thanks for correcting me. I don't know much about either of the classes other than what I have heard/theory-crafted through seeing them being played. The last thing I want is to mislead people. I also didn't play 1.0 so I should probably have done some deeper research before giving advice about it. My apologies.

Well, I'm a guy.. so I also prefer to play male characters.. But Male Roegadyn? Too big for me. I don't like giant characters. I always lean towards the more human-esque or elven races. In WoW I couldn't bring myself to RP on Draenei/Orc/Tauren, but I did on both of the elven races, humans and forsaken. -shrug- That is just me, anyway.

Laughed, shaking his head. "Oh no, I just do this as a pass-time. These are just a few songs someone taught me. I'm certainly no bard." He smiled, canting his head, "I'll leave the theater to the professionals." Felix bowed his head after that, accepting the compliment regardless. "Well, then.. If that is all," He spoke softly as he slung his quiver over his back, along with his pack and bow and then pulled his hood up to conceal most of his face. "I'll be heading to bed."
-
Felix nodded, shaking his hand firmly. "Thats right, Felix. It's a pleasure." He said with a friendly tone, "I'm glad to know someone enjoys my music. Although I must retire soon myself. Never was much of a night owl." Felix said with a smirk. He began putting his satchel belt back on, and the beautifully crafted pan-pipe was placed in a leather case, which was then placed in his pack. "Was there anything else I could help you with?" Felix stopped what he was doing, turning to face the man. Felix looked at the coin pouch and bowed his head, smiling. "That isn't necessary.. thank you very much. I'm glad I could be of some help. Enjoy your night, may it bring you peace."
-
Nodded at Alex, "They offer rooms here.. But if you want somewhere a little more peaceful, there should be an inn just outside of town. Follow the road west." He nodded again as his eyes trailed off and visually confirmed his directions in his mind. Felix looked over to the approaching man, nodding. "I'm happy to play, as long as it isn't a bother." He said jokingly, "Sadly I only know a few songs."
-
Felix had sat back down at his spot, looking at the approaching man. He gave him a friendly nod and extended a hand, "Evening sir." He said with a smile. "Is there anything I can help you with?" He pulled placed his belt of satchels upon the table and awaited his answer. Eyes absently inspected where the ale had spilt.
-
Felix finished up his song and placed his pan-pipe carefully beside him, taking up his drink to take a small sip. The tavern seemed to grow quiet after the small scene, everyone talking quietly amongst themselves. The last thing they wanted at this time of night was the woodwailer's attention. Felix raised his drink up, nodding his head at Kevaraan as he walked over to help the Miqo'te. The glow of the fire started to die down and it caught Felix's gaze, which in turn brought him to place another timber upon the fire. It would be just enough to last until midnight, which was when the tavern closed the bar. "Summer nights and I can almost smell autumn." He said, mostly to himself. A small grunt of a laugh escaping his lips before his cup was brought to its desired place.
-
This song lasted a bit longer than the previous, and Felix seemed to sway back and forth as he lost himself in his performing. He enjoyed playing at the taverns, and did so for free. Watching people move to the music, or become inspired or cheered up by his little efforts became, over time, something very soothing to him. Although despite this, he would likely have to be dragged, possibly quite literally, to play in a large crowd. Various folk had come and gone, new faces appearing as the night-life took hold of their usual seats in the tavern. The male bar-keep looked around the room before making his way over to the far corner, opening a window. It created a gentle draft which carried some of the now-building muggy air out of the room. His sister seemed to have spilled another drink as she made a frusterated grumble and her tail went swishing each and every way. Hurried hands fumbling around and she tried to clean up her mess. Felix seemed mostly unphased by the rough housing in the back, his eyes watching the scene. It was a usual thing, spilt blood often followed spilt drinks, even in Gridania. The woodwailers did a good job of keeping the peace, or rather, enforcing it. His eyes followed Alex as he made for the door, a slight frown tugging at his lips as he played. He never liked not being able to improve someone's mood.
-
"An odd thing. A honeyed lemon-apple combination. I don't suggest it if you don't have a sweet tooth.. Although the lemon adds a tart twist, so it isn't too overpowering. I've never been much of an ale-drinker though." Felix confessed, laughing lightly at himself. "Hmm.. Well, I suppose I could offer up another tune or two. Somethin' a little more relaxing for the gentlemen in the back." Felix paused a moment, watching the woman briefly before his eyes glazed over in thought. After a few moments time he raised the pan-pipe to his lips and closed his eyes. Following a deep, relaxing breath and sigh, he began. His hand followed what might be taken as tradition and raised into the air, gesturing to the bar-keep to bring him a refill. With that, he winked to L'yhta in thanks for the drink.
-
Looked over to Kevaraan, his head bowing in thanks. Felix was happy to make others happy, and knowing that someone enjoyed his song satisfied him. His eyes soon adjusted to the lively Miqo'te who stationed herself nearby. Lips tugging into a smile as his head canted, "Hello there. Ooohh? A round of drinks on you?" He teased, eyes looking over the woman. "Well then. I'll surely have to take that offer. I can't get enough of this juice." With that said, Felix took a drink. Afterwards he placed the empty wooden cup upon the table and drummed his fingers on his knee. "Felix, it is a pleasure, L'yhta. You seemed to enjoy the music, have any requests? Otherwise I have another in mind." Felix stood, rolling his shoulders and stretching. His neck cracked a few times before he sat back down and adjusted himself into a comfortable position. The warm fire caressed those around it, sending their shadows dancing along the walls behind them.
-
Rolled his eyes, his song continued for a few more minutes before it gradually came to a close, quickly taking a drink of the sweet drink beside him. Felix glanced over to the woman besides him and smiled, a hand extending, "Felix. Does my new partner have a name?" Teasing at her, his eyes glanced at her make-shift drum. "Not bad use of that, either." Felix looked around the room and sat quietly for a moment, letting people digest the music before thinking about what song he should play next. He noticed the two men in the distance, eyes peering over their features as he flicked to the usual tavern-goers as well.
-
Felix grew a smirk and pursed his lips, "Well then! I suppose I will have to put you to the test, won't I?" He winked to her, a shoulder bumping her own in a friendly manner. With that said, he wasted little time before pulling the pan-pipe to his lips again, beginning his next song. The gentle melody started off slow and gradually picked up the pace as his eyes set upon his new-found partner in music to see if she could catch the flow. A hand raised and gestured to the bar as he played. Not long after the young Miqo'te woman came over with a bounce of a gait and placed a mug beside Felix, filled with what was likely to be a juice of some kind, as it gave off a sweet scent.
-
Felix finished his song before giving the scholarly Miqo'te woman the attention she diserved. His head canted and he bowed it lightly "Good evening!" He exclaimed with a friendly gresture of his hand. His fingers drumming on his pan-pipe as he lowered it into his lap. The man was sitting on a table with one foot in a chair, the other hanging freely. From the judge of this, he was likely to be on the taller end for midlanders. "Do you have a request, hun?" Felix gained a broad smile and watched L'yhta, shaking his head. "That's what I like to see! I can't play much on this old thing, but if you ladies have requests I will try to accommodate. Otherwise.. I have another in mind that will get those feet moving."

Welcome welcome welcome! It is always nice to have another in the community. If you need anything, feel free to ask! There is a lot of helpful people around here. (That might not include me as I am relatively new too!)
