Maril Posted March 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted March 25, 2015 Do you ever listen to something that isn't in your native language or English? I've got a few bands/artists I like listening to even though I have no idea what they are singing about (unless I've looked up a translated version of the lyrics). One of the bands I listen to like this is Oomph: I really like their music. I do know a /bit/ of German, but it's extremely rusty and more like "Hey that's a word I know. Nice word! Yeah!". They've redone some of their songs in English but I vastly prefer them in German. Link to comment
Domri Blackblade Posted March 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted March 25, 2015 Does it count if I'm fluent in the other language? Here are a few! [video=youtube] [video=youtube] [video=youtube] (And my guilty pleasure of KPOP. /shameless) [video=youtube] 2 Link to comment
cuideag Posted March 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted March 25, 2015 Gonna skip the Japanese stuff since it's not really a foreign language in my house [video=youtube] [video=youtube]https://youtu.be/TiN_YTyaNtI [video=youtube] [video=youtube] EDIT: I LIED I have to share Nujabes. Tokki Posted March 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted March 25, 2015 I love Korean pop music. <3 Epic ballads can be epic. Some of my characters 'theme songs' happen to be kpop songs. I also love jrock/pop. Link to comment
Darien Cadell Posted March 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2015 [video=youtube] [video=youtube] French doesn't really count as foreign here, either. They did this one in English, but I prefer the Franglais version. [video=youtube] 1 Link to comment
Roen Posted March 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted March 25, 2015 The reason why attached Shakira to Brynnalia so many years ago. But likely this is not such a foreign language for many. Edit: one more! I used this song to write a post for Roen long ago. It's more her style. 1 Link to comment
Marisa Posted March 26, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 26, 2015 Well, despite the fact that most of the bands I listen to are European, almost all power metal is done in English. However, a couple of them like to do songs in their native languages. odSADfSNdvg GVKeNGpRyzg And of course, it would be unjust of me to not mention Rhapsody. t0R7nWk8v8M Link to comment

Raih Nelhah Posted March 26, 2015 Share #10 Posted March 26, 2015 I think I'll add Oomph! to my list of bands to listen to... For foreign languages, I prefer them over my native language because I can completely ignore the lyrical aspect and just get engrossed in the sound. I'm not one for the meaning behind lyrics and just love getting a 'feel' for the music through instrumental alone. (Which is why my mainstay for music is mostly electronic) Not understanding the words they're speaking kinda adds to that in a way. [video=youtube] Link to comment

Aya Posted March 28, 2015 Share #13 Posted March 28, 2015 Soooo often. I love music in any language. This is one of my fave non-English sounds (though sadly most of their music these days is in English). [Gaelic... Finnish.. German, French, Russian, Japanese.. I love music in so many different languages! ) 1 Link to comment
Erik Mynhier Posted March 28, 2015 Share #14 Posted March 28, 2015 I like Icelandic, sometimes German and French. I guess as per the op, stating "music not in your native language" I guess music in english would count too. Link to comment

allgivenover Posted March 28, 2015 Share #21 Posted March 28, 2015 I moved to Japan when I was 11 and didn't leave until I was 16, so when I first "discovered" music it was mostly mid/late 90s japanese visual kei and pop rock. As a result stuff like this will always resonate with me. r1qe56Zhlg8 Knowing so much about the jrock scene in the early 00's was super "cool", but now all the kids care about is kpop.
