Edda Posted May 1, 2015 Share #26 Posted May 1, 2015 Edda only has a few precious trinkets that can't actually be replaced. The first is her family ring with her initials inscribed on the inner band. There are four others that are exactly like it that have been re-purposed throughout generations of her family. It is essentially priceless. Second is a small herb satchel made by her brother for her 16th nameday, with her middle initial sewn on it. Worthless, but high sentimental value. Third is a pearl bracelet made to fit a child's wrist. A gift from her brother from when he visited Limsa Lominsa, shortly after she was forbid from leaving home. None of these items are currently in her possession. RIP. 1 Link to comment
TheLastCandle Posted May 1, 2015 Share #27 Posted May 1, 2015 Yvelont has his brother's signet ring, which he carries with him at all times. He also has a preserved lily that he bears in a pendant, given to him by someone very important, symbolizing their house. That's about it, really. At least until he reclaims the family sword. Erik Mynhier Posted May 1, 2015 Share #28 Posted May 1, 2015 Erik keeps with him a small children's storybook. The book was a scholastic copy of the book and so each page of story is followed by a blank page for notes. The book is almost a hundred years old and the blank pages have acted as journal for three generations. The book holds thoughts, events, secrets, and special knowledge, as well as his favorite childhood story. Link to comment
ArmachiA Posted May 1, 2015 Share #29 Posted May 1, 2015 Oh goodness, Armi is so sentimental... Let's see, she doesn't have a trinket per say but a lot of different objects that she keeps... some of these things are gone now from a fire, but she managed to keep most of them. A page of a book of Miqote folk songs - Lost in the fire, it was a book of Miqote folk songs from the X tribe, handwritten, bound, and given to her by a dear friend of hers - someone she considers her best friend though their relationship is... complicated. The person who gave her the book, in essence, no longer exists, though he still lives and, before the fire, it used to be a reminder of who he was. She only managed to find one page in the ashes, it now resides in her journal. Bookmark - Safely tucked in an old book of different plants, it was given to her by her ex-boyfriend and now sometimes friend (Depending on the day). She had thought she lost it but found it after the fire stashed away in the book she saved. Armi misses the person she used to know, and she keeps the bookmark as a reminder. She has thought to ask to give it back, but she's worried he would take it offensively. "Alo" - It's a book. An old book. An old book about plants. And it's falling apart and ratty as hell. And it has a name. It's name is Alo. It's the first thing she saved in the fire and a constant reminder of the first time she ever really fell in love. It isn't hers. Not really. Just like him. It was never hers. She's just taking care of it for now. Burned Up Sword Handle - It was a sword, but the fire melted it and the blade fell off, with nothing but a handle remaining. She couldn't bring herself to throw it away, she isn't sure why. There's flashes of a person when she looks at it. Someone she remembers, but someone that feels like a stranger at the same time. The memories are there, but it feels like it happened to someone else, like she's completely detached from them. There's a dullness to the ache, but the ache is there none the less. She can't throw it away. She... can't. She cried once when she tried, so she stopped. She doesn't know why she cried, but she does... She's pretty sure she misses them. But it's static in her head. These are only for past memories, this isn't even the list of current objects she has of people she's still close to. Link to comment
ShoggMommy Posted May 1, 2015 Share #30 Posted May 1, 2015 C'sien has a few little things. She doesn't keep a lot of personal items, being an adventurer and what not. -A pair of glasses with little magnifiers; this has actually gotten her nicknamed "Goggles" by old friends- so she cherishes them pretty closely.. -Monocle mostly because she thinks it's cute, even if she does need both eyes. Nothing very sentimental about this piece, other than she likely was mimicking her teacher. -Bomb plushie that Lakin got her at the last summer festival. Pretty sentimental to her even if it's just a little plush, considering her friendship with him. -Various alchemical bits and bobs, containers, vials, etc usually on her person. They used to belong to her teacher, mentor; they were passed down to her. She keeps tomes, books, those sorts of things but they're not always on her person so I wouldn't consider them trinkets. But that's about it I think. There might be one or two more things but I can't recall right off hand. She does not, however, keep any sort of trinket from her immediate family-tribe as she left them years back. Link to comment
Viola Posted July 11, 2015 Share #31 Posted July 11, 2015 Viola wears a simple brooch attached to a collar around her neck at all times. This brooch means practically everything to her, and she almost never removes it (unless out of necessity, like bathing). The only one she'll trust touching it, ever, is her "father", who taught her everything from how to act to how to fight. While everything she has is from the Dark Knight who raised her, she holds the brooch above all else. Link to comment
Jerciex Posted July 11, 2015 Share #32 Posted July 11, 2015 Ring in necklace. It is totally normal and plain brass ring. It is memento about promise and someone important to him. Jerciex was supposed to tell his feelings for other person after Battle of Cartenau, as promise they will come back alive, but this person went missing during battle. Only thing left behind was this ring and promise... Link to comment
Arelian Solin Posted July 11, 2015 Share #33 Posted July 11, 2015 Kaiten wears a ring--specifically a silver and mythril-wrought band--on his left ring finger. It's a wedding band he received when he and his wife were betrothed to one-another during their younger years. Having had it since his early adolescence means it's been reshaped and re-sized several times and it holds no small amount of sentimental value. It's incredibly unlikely to see him without it. Klynzahr Posted July 11, 2015 Share #34 Posted July 11, 2015 I guess that I missed this it's first time round... While it is not technically a trinket, Klynzahr is extremely attached to the poorly fitted maelstrom sargent's coat that she carries on her journeys. Klynzahr is not a member of the Maelstrom and has no intention to join them. The coat actually belonged to her stepmother, who was a particularly small and feisty Sea Wolf marauder. Thanks to some alterations made before the birth of her youngest half-brother, Klynzahr is now able to fit into her stepmother's old coat, although it's still too short for her. One of the coat's pockets always holds a carved wooden glasses case. The other one holds a small charcoal sketch in a cracked bronze frame. The drawing depicts a particularly skinny ten year old version of Klyn seated next to a tiny Hyuran boy, while the glasses case shows a sailing ship etched above the name Eyritrachen. Some people have noted Klynzahr's apparent attachment to her old falchion blade. However her connection of the sword is far more practical. Since it was the primary weapon used during her gladiator career, it has saved her life and the lives of her friends more times than she cares to count. She hates what the blade stands for, yet feels immeasurably safer with it by her side. Link to comment
Asmodean Posted July 12, 2015 Share #35 Posted July 12, 2015 Asmodean carrys a number of items his mother once owned, a locket, a sliver sword and a old leather bound tome. Locket: A simple sliver locket kept on a steel chain around his neck, hidden by his heavy armor. He has never shown the item off as he has never felt close to anyone enough before to really feel comfortable to. Sword: A seemingly simple sliver blade of a standard arming sword length. Asmodean carries the weapon on his belt and rarely uses the weapon having relied on his ax for combat. Well kept and clearly cleaned and polished on a near daily basics. Tome: His mother's old journal written in a odd runic text save for the final ten or so pages. Is far older then what it seems, Asmodean has been seem from time to time in the local bar trying to translate what he can. Link to comment
Bontee Posted July 12, 2015 Share #36 Posted July 12, 2015 Dren always carries a chipped, rusty dagger with him. He never uses it to fight, it would likely break anyway, it just has meaning to him... It was used (by pirates) to kill his parents, and is all he has to remember them by. Link to comment
Jean L Posted July 13, 2015 Share #37 Posted July 13, 2015 Jade has his wedding ring. I think the symbolism is pretty self explanatory lmao. There's also the green clip he has on his ear that he wears because of his name. Nekhii holds any gift he gets dearly. He was given a ring in Ul'Dah as a reward and to him it means the world because it's a symbol of being accepted and wanted by others. Link to comment
Lekka Meyren Posted July 13, 2015 Share #38 Posted July 13, 2015 Lekka has a home-made deck of cards. They're time-worn and very used, hand crafted by her mother; and they remind her of just being a little family, in a land where everyone wasn't so tiny. Link to comment
Enla Posted July 13, 2015 Share #39 Posted July 13, 2015 Enla wears three separate trinkets, though only two of them hold any sort of meaning. An orange crystal with a long string of leather looped through a hole cut at the top. A present from her late father that she only recently came into possession of; the crystal holds no special powers or any deeper meaning beyond being one of the first true possessions her father ever possessed after leaving his tribe after his majority. She wears it whenever she leaves the apartments she shares with her beau, and it's rarely out of arms reach. A simple pendant with the images of a conjurer's cane and a lance etched into the relief. As present from Nicholas it too is one of her most dear possessions, and unlike her father's pendant she almost never removes it. Though part of that is due to the fact that the pendant, unlike the crystal, isn't liable to jab her with any sharp edges in the middle of the night. A simple leather eyepatch that she wears to cover the now empty socket that her right eye once called home. The only time this is ever removed is during sleep and when she wishes to make a production out of making someone lose their lunch. Link to comment
Hammersmith Posted July 13, 2015 Share #40 Posted July 13, 2015 Hammer's got a few things: A set of brass earrings with a story behind them. He's wearing them most of the time. A lockbox with paper-lantern making material. Refer to "Letters Home" as to why that's important. Knives. So many knives. These in particular because they've been lifted off of bodies, the result of one on one fights or corpses on a specific battlefield. A brass lantern with a lot of writing on the bottom, also noted in "Letters Home" The key to his planned retirement home. You know. The one under 6 feet of ocean after the moon dropped. A pipe recently made for him by his current free company. Link to comment
Banquo Viaquo Posted July 15, 2015 Share #41 Posted July 15, 2015 North carries his lapel pin; the metallic maple leaf that marks his prior service to the Aerstorn family. It's doubtful if Banquo possesses anything you could assign sentimental value to. Still, he's rarely seen without his golden sunglasses, through which all of Eorzea gleams like gil. Link to comment
Oli! Posted July 15, 2015 Share #42 Posted July 15, 2015 Flynt has a bottle of his father's finest cologne hidden in his room to remember him by. Oh is that what that was? I used that last week. My bad. Link to comment
Jancis Posted July 15, 2015 Share #43 Posted July 15, 2015 Jancis has been blessed by her close friends with trinkets, but she did have some starting ones: Seashell Charm Bracelet: A small scalloped-shaped silver charm had the engraving "L.F." upon it. The bracelet itself was also silver and meant for a toddler's wrist. The item was given to Jancis' first love and lost somewhere, possibly in the snowy mountains of Coerthas. Map of the Black Shroud: Now just disassembled pieces of paper from the amount of times it's been folded and re-folded, this old map is outdated and written over, erased, and written over again. A random assortment of 'landmarks' and notes are on it to determine where Jancis was raised. Coverless Book: Her favorite book, the binding is worn out and it's carefully kept in a handkerchief to keep from losing pages. It's where she chose her name from and inspired her to fight for freedom which brought her to where she is today. It's basically based off of The Renegades of Pern if she references it with dragons and nomads and discovering what life could be. Link to comment
Threndual Posted July 15, 2015 Share #44 Posted July 15, 2015 Baatu has just one important one. Basically I decided to make him a little odd and gave him a few family customs and this is one of them. The trinket is basically made from the first scale that ever fell off of his body, hanging around his neck by a simple chain. The idea is that no matter where he ends up in life he will always have that reminder that at some point he was a young, helpless child and that there are others like that out there that need the same sort of guidance he received when he was young. Roen Posted July 21, 2015 Share #45 Posted July 21, 2015 Roen now wears a thin silver chain around her neck that has a pair of amethyst earrings set in elaborate filigrees of silver and gold hanging from it. It would jingling with movement but she keeps it mostly hidden under her armor and shirt. It reminds her of her first love and her greatest regret. She also has a few other things kept tucked away in a box and out of sight; it has two stuffed dolls, a white beret with a feather, sparring gloves, a book, water painting set, a raptorskin ring, and a strange instrument she does not know how to play. 1 Link to comment
RiniKett Posted July 22, 2015 Share #46 Posted July 22, 2015 Rini's earring is a memento from her mother. Rini thinks it as nothing more than a cheap jewel, but it was created from a very old materia; she rarely goes anywhere without it. Link to comment
Sig Posted July 22, 2015 Share #47 Posted July 22, 2015 Sig possesses a matching flask and pipe set he carved from one of the remaining barrels that aged Bacchus wine. However, Sig does not carry it on his person very often, as they are irreplaceable, and offer only diminishing returns when compared to similar flasks and pipes he has made from more common materials. Sigil.9054 Posted July 22, 2015 Share #48 Posted July 22, 2015 There's a reason Seldi is the kind who would absolutely keep little trinkets to remember others by, and yet she has no such things. Link to comment
