Curious about your character's powers....

Recommended Posts

Zarek's 'powers' come from inheriting/learning it combined with living life. Most people tend to overlook that for the 'average' person life can be fairly dangerous even within the walls of the city states.

His mother (a highlander) while not a monk of Rhalgr knew enough to teach some of the basic forms and such (little lore bending plus 'daww' moments of mother + son training together) to him early on in life. She was also a Brass Blade so I like to think that before she died she passed on tidbits about how to take care of oneself in Ul'dah.

Due to his father's connections and work for the Syndicate, a buddy of his kind of halfheartedly started to look after the then parentless Zarek and thus got him started in a life of 'organized crime' so to speak. Bouncing, throwing fights, collecting money...all those plus managing to live through everything else that happens on back streets in Ul'dah is what gave Zarek his powers.

T'rahnu's parents were both former adventurers, so that helps quite a bit. She's also quite talented, with an extremely high 'physical intelligence' and an aptitude for manipulating her own personal aether. This, in combination with her numbness to physical hardship, makes her extremely good at pretty much any form of melee combat once she's got some training in.

And then there's the Echo on top of it. She can see actions occurring a scant few seconds into the future, allowing her to react accordingly... which, frankly, is just a ridiculously OP power to have. However, due to her relatively passive nature, this generally just makes her really hard to kill, rather than giving her the ability to slay someone on a whim.

Why does she have it? Well, why does anyone have the Echo? I can't answer that, because no one else really can. We know that both those blessed by Hydaelyn and those chosen by Zodiark (the Ascians) can possess it, yet the Blessing of Light and Dark are both orthogonal to the Echo, as the Warrior of Light stand-in still possesses the latter despite having the former stripped from him by you-know-who. So that's just one of those things I handwave, at least until we have more concrete lore on the ability.

Work for the military.... get all the toys man.

Last time I tried to work for the military, Zero Division rejected me. >.>

That aside, I gripe but Chao's battlesuit visor has practically-identical functions to your eye. Maybe they can compare notes and she can pilfer the workings of the rest of your goodies just by looking at it when she comes looking for information about Amalj'aa summonings.

Come find me.

Lacey was born in (un-named country) on the continent Ilsabard. She was taken by the Empire and conscripted when she was eight. She was sent to Doma to be trained as a ninja and assassin for the Empire and was also experimented on by a particularly cruel Garlean scientist and as such has a moderate healing factor.

Yep.

oh, if we're talking bits and pieces then we also have the following, along with the 32 years of combat/aetheric training:

Formshaper Mask:

Appearing as an Ash Mask with a crystal embedded into it, nako can manipulate the Aether within it to appear as another creature of roughly the same mass. He needs to constantly keep it topped up to maintain the glamour, and if it ever depletes, then the glamour drops.

Shadow Visor:

A Visor that acts in a similar manner to the VISR system from Halo 3: ODST. It enhances the current field of view between background and foreground, reads and catalouges individual Aether Signatures allowing for easy recognition, even if glamoured, and due to the way Aether works within people, can pick up changes to it, such as corruption by the Void, Ascians, or just someone starting to channel it ala Warrior/Monk.

Hah, Chao's visors are also VISR with the serial numbers filed off.

First of all, yay Sailor Moon fan! Let's be friends!  Anyway, character wise (in other MMOs as I am still learning FFXIV's lore)...

I have had characters whose powers awaken, for instance a fire Elementalist whose home was attacked and she and one other person were inside, and that frightening situation awakened her and she scared off the attackers.

I have also had characters who were born with their powers, for instance a Mesmer who summoned the illusion of pretty glowing flowers as a small girl, and as she got older, she studied and practiced until she could do much, much more.

My character Jhu'lie, my FFXIV main, is a Lancer and doesn't really have any powers right now. Her skills are purely psychical for the moment.

Sure! I love Sm! Seen the new anime? I've got an idea for my character that I'm very curious to write out!

Kestlona doesn't really have any special powers.  Most of her training came from her Pa with daggers and with her fist from her teacher Alex.  Limsa being a seaport also let me play around with different accents and learning another language directed her into trying to understand the Beast Tribes own spoken language.  Alex just used those raw talents to start her training as a spy.

John is highly aether sensitive, sensing it through his finger.  He so sensitive that it has made him postcognitive, but terrified of using it because he views it as a curse since he can't shut if off and has to wear gloves to keep from being overwhelm by the past.  He's also train in aetheric healing, with his carbuncle, Kit help with the worst injures that happen at the Grindstone.

Oskwell's speed and mobility doesn't come from any real devices other than his wind-aspected spear, which allows him greater jump control. During his two-eyed prime, he had no problem peforming jumps from any angle, side-angle jumps to cross distances fast, jumping off the ceiling, off of people onto other people, etc etc. Extended hiatus from Ishgard has since dulled his jumping skills, but he's on the road to retraining them in the hopes of getting them back where they once were.

Asmodean has no special powers unique to himself, but his Warrior Soulstone has a long history on his mother's side for his family making unique compared to other warrior stones. Unlike other Soulstones, it has black marking through out the stone, making it clearly different to the normal ruby soulstone.  The marking is a sign that the original holder of the soulstone is trapped within it and is still active.

While I haven't RP with anyone enough show this part of Asmodean story, the basic idea is should he over use the stone, Asmodean will be replaced by the trapped soul in battle. The different in fighting style is clear, Asmodean would let wounded surrender or retreat as he isn't overly bloody thirsty killer. Moridin, the trapped soul, makes Conan  the Barbarian look like a nice guy. There is no retreat, no surrender of the old soul. Death is the only thing he knows, he takes much enjoyment from ending lives or dragging out the pain one can suffer. Part of the story is meant to be Asmodean learning about Moridin and hopefully being able to cleanse him from the soulstone but with roleplay as it is, there is always the possibly of Asmo needing Moridin for when he can't bring himself to do what has to be done.

May be common but lacking skill with magic, I needed something to make him stand out a bit.

Wart's just a clever guy with some determination. Not the best fighter so I wouldn't consider them "powers". His real prowess lies in his cunning and ability to see the bigger picture.

>Extensive study into Arcanima, (ten years and counting) and more than a passing interest in Thaumaturgy and Conjury as well.

>Garlean Nanomachine injection, which her metabolism has since formed a symbiosis with.

>Void resonance from playing around with planar fissures.

>Harsh relentless physical training under her mentor in order to learn to grasp true 'control'

>Augmented Physiology due to muddling around with Fantasia

>Glasses

The Lore's probably a pretzel by this point.

Can learn musical instruments really fast - this is just a talent of hers I used to punch up an otherwise underwhelming character in a world full of specials.

Excellent Aim - but slow draw.

Has money - she doesn't think about it.

Has had some experience with Aether manipulation and training from being a priestess, but only using it as a force itself - she can't use magic as she lacks control when she tries

Can Read? Does that count? As a priestess she had to learn how to read and write.

That's... all I got.
