LF FC on Balmung

Recommended Posts

I browsed the Free Company directory but couldn't seem to tell which ones were active or not, and also the difference between a FC and a linkshell. lol

But really I am looking for a friendly FC with like medium RP maybe? I have a lot going on in my life - in school for holistic nutrition, soon to also be in yoga teaching school, and I work full time as a massage therapist. And my three cats keep me on my toes, too. xD So I don't get to play a whole lot. My main focus now is leveling and storyline. I RP in my head a lot but don't plan to do text-based RP too frequently until I'm higher level.

Browsing through the directory seemed daunting. A lot of FCs seemed to be pretty heavy RP. But I just want some company as I journey through Eorzea. Preferably with chill people who RP some and doesn't mind that I don't have a lot of time for serious commitment?

:D

The linkshell listings on here have recently been culled for inactivity, so the majority you find there should still be active. A free company is your guild--you can join only one, and within your FC you get ranks, earn points, receive buffs bought with those points, potentially have an FC house, etc. Linkshells are just chat channels. You can join up to eight linkshells.

Yes - means it is a FC

Dualistic - means it is a FC and LS

No - means it is just a LS

All should be active, but I would suggest checking any website as a good way to tell and get a feel.

What is holistic nutrition?

I would guess getting fed through a hole... but I am most likely wrong.

Google and 30 seconds netting me: http://www.holisticnutrition.com/

"Proper Nutrition is the basis for optimum health and well being. Holistic nutrition is the modern natural approach to developing a healthy balanced diet while taking into account the person as whole. Holistic nutrition is considered to be part of holistic health."

It just sounds like something pseudosciencey, so I was curious if I was wrong.

That 30 seconds on google also netted me multiple references to education programs in holistic nutrition, including Master's Degree programs.  So, it may sound pseudosciencey, but I guess that at least some schools are offering it as an accredited course of study.

This discussion is going fairly off track, but its an interesting one.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything though, Chiropractic is a pseudoscience, as is Reiki and Reflexology, and plenty of other things. All those have degrees and courses of study.

I'm just curious, is all. I'm not trying to call out the OP for spreading pseudo science, just had never heard of it before.

I've heard of "holistic medicine" before...on a House Hunters episode (my guilty pleasure).  Had not heard of holistic nutrition before.

BTW, Joromarr is a sweetheart and someone should invite him to their guild.

Okay, that helps out some! Thanks! Now I can actually navigate that page and understand it. xD

What is holistic nutrition?

Utilizing whole, natural foods as a form of medicine. Pseudoscience? Maybe? More and more research studies are proving the benefits. Just changing what goes into my body has drastically helped my bipolar and major depressive disorder, helped me lose weight, stopped my joints from creaking and aching, and more. Hippocrates said it some two thousand years ago - "Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food."

I am a massage therapist, which a couple decades ago was pseudoscience. Now it's a respected field in healthcare. It is utilized in hospitals, hospice care, sports teams, and more. Massage therapy is amazing. Even as a massage therapist I thought chiropractic care was iffy. Then I went to get adjusted once when I felt like a rib head had popped out of place (turns out I was right). It's good stuff.

Same with yoga. More research is being done on yoga and the benefits of it not only for mind, but body as well. Oh, and when I was in massage school, we had a Reiki energy work course. I scoffed, and (rudely...) laughed at the teacher once (I couldn't contain it, the ideas she was saying were just so ridiculous). But now I am a reiki practitioner and feel not only the energy around me, but the energy of others. And I use that energy for healing (sometimes. I do tend to be more clinical focused). But even science is proving the existence of energetic fields!

So I mean, I dunno. I guess you can call it all pseudoscience. But to me, if it works, and if it works not just for me but for multiple people, then that's all I need. I love how science is finally, after so many years, backing up the health and wellness claims of holistic living. Too many things these days are processed. Too many pills prescribed. And too few people are aware of their own body.

Placebo effect is a hell of a drug.

Thanks for the info though, interesting stuff.
