New to XIV RP, pls halp.

Hello! /wave I'm Versailles Cota~

I'm new to Roleplaying on FFXIV, and would love to see some examples of how people RP. I'm currently a Seeker of the Sun Mi'qote female, and would love to learn more about the lore. I'm willing to make friends, participate in plots, etc. 

 

I'm pretty shy to approach people ; ; 

 

--MMORPG background // FFXIV is my first MMO, and I've been playing for almost a year. 

--RP experience // I've roleplayed on forums. 

--Character ideas/info // I'm still trying to figure out a story for her, but I would like her to resemble my real self personality wise, but living a different adventure. Maybe a barmaid in Ul'dah, but an undercover rogue for hire. 

--How did you learn about the coalition? Well I'm on Balmung... so..... 

--What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? // Medium, since I enjoy raiding as well. 

--Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) // Soon to be college student. Mainly just like to chit-chat to people on XIV when given the chance, and play other games.

If you're wanting help, send me a PM I've been RPing on MMOs for years, I can give you some help, first thing you want to do is figure out some basics for your character, who they are, what they want and such.

If you ever see me around Ul'dah, feel free to strike up some RP! I, myself, need to get out of this closed shell and do some more open roleplay. I'm also not as well versed on Miqo'te lore as many others here, but I've done a fair amount of research in my attempt to flesh Nina out, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The biggest issue I have is the name changing stuff... I don't necessarily wish to change my name to fit some of the Miqo lore, and I'm afraid that will keep people from RPing with me. :l

Honestly, it could bring some interesting RP about, and Miqo'te 'common names' are called 'common' for a reason, but blending of cultures, and adoption, can lead to different names

The people who have hangups about your name are, more often than not, are people who are going to have hangups on every little detail and are the kind of people who might end up making RP on the un-fun side. 

 

That's not to say I don't advocate at least pondering what your character's tribal name might be, even if you decide to never use it.

Seriously though you'll be fine. RP in MMOs is like RPing on a forum board only the posts are really short. You'll be good. If you want someone to show you around, I'd be happy to!

i had this same problem my char name is Jebus Krist but my rp name is lore friendly but people look past it I promise.

I'm a pretty experienced rper. But extremely laid back. I do my best to rp with people new to it because I'm not going to worry if everything isn't perfect!

 

So feel free to rp with me, I can only show you what I do. But if it helps you get an idea of your own character and methods then yay!
