Back to Gridania (Open RP)

A soft chuckle escaped Clavier as the toad fell dead in the water at last, "That is one less problem.", his tone finding a quick shift from relieved to more troubled. As his fingers released the bow and allowed it to drop onto the floor with a soft thud.

"This'll be the next."

His words spoken out more silent as his eyes shifted up to his fellow travelers, drops of the toxin drips down from his fingertips. Seemingly an amount of the toxin being released from the toad had reached Clavier and covered most of his right arm and several drops on his face.

Lorielle cringed at the Hyur's sudden change in tone.  As much as she disliked being scolded, and would usually crumble beneath someone in apology, she kept her back straight and looked him dead in the eyes.

"I've no intention to be a hero," she said flatly, "But I would risk my life any day to save anyone else."

She realized after stating this, Tobias's expression and tone would falter back and forth, as if the real him was trying to get through whatever came over him.  His tense atmosphere won out in the end.  As he began to walk away from her, she started to follow, reaching out to stop him.  His wounds had to be healed if he intended to do anything, let alone search for the animal that wounded him.

But the driver approached him, his face red and the veins in his neck rising.  They began to argue heatedly.  Lorielle knew how this would end.  Her back became tense, her teething grinding together, until finally a punch was thrown and Tobias's head jerked.

Oh, how Lorielle wanted to step in.  She wanted to crane her staff over her head and pop the driver in the jaw.  She knew of course that she could not do that, and more violence wouldn't make anything better.  She stood releasing an angry breath in defeat, before taking in a ragged breath and holding it.

I suppose I can get to treating Tobias after I've checked on the others.  Lorielle looked around, her first thought being of Kieaira.  Before her eyes found her, though, she saw the archer drop his bow into the water.  He was sufficiently drenched in...oh no...

Lorielle ran forward to the Hyur, getting a better look at him.  He had been sprayed in the toad's toxin, his arm favored.  She began to take action immediately.  "Come with me," she said firmly, grabbing the man by his safe arm and trying to lead him further from where the toad had fallen.  Her plan was to find the cleanest water possible before any toxins spread to it, then rinsing the man's skin as much as she could.  Anything after that, she could hopefully heal.

The water directly around the toad were a dark murky colour, almost black as the toxins drained from the toad, tainted most of the water. However ... not far away was a small pool of water that was blocked off from the rest by a sand bank that would be clear as the sky.

Kieaira winced as she heard the two men arguing and she looked up watching as Tobias was hit and walked off to find the chocobos. This isn't going very well at all ... I should do .... something....

With a sigh she pulled herself up out of the sand, her navy blue clothing littered with little brown specs of sand, but she didn't bother to wipe it off, instead she rushed to catch up with the driver. "C-can I help?" She murmured gently placing a hand upon his arm.

The driver whipped around, nearly knocking Kieaira onto her behind, a scowl upon his face. "O-Oh!" He said suddenly startled. "It's you ... I'm sorry." He reached a hand out to help steady the Miqo'te, whose face was now a bright red, and a look of shame crossed her features. "Sorry ... I thought you were..." His sky-blue eyes shifted off in the direction Tobias had went. "Never mind... Here." He pulled out some gyshal greens and handed them to Kieaira. "Don't go far, keep the caravan in sight, just what we need is missing passengers." He smiled at her briefly, though it was clear he was still angered, and walked off trying to follow chocobo tracks.

Kieaira turned and walked back to the caravan, the greens in hand, trying to figure out how she could help if she couldn't go out of sight. Finally an idea struck her, she could, at the very least, pick up the cargo that had been spilled.

She went to work right away, picking up boxes and bags and placing them back into the cart, pausing for a moment to see what the others were up too.

His head tilted as his right hand rose up to be held in front of himself to examine the liquid slipping down along his hand and arm, his expression grim as he tried to keep up with the girl that pulled him along. His condition seemingly growing more fragile by the second as his pace becomes more of a quick staggering along.

His words sounding hushed, "Must've sprayed onto me when it leaped at me.", a faint smile forming on his lips as they reached an area of the water that wasn't yet covered with the blood of the toad. Shifting his arm from within her grasp he fell to his knees beside the pond and both hands into the water as a form of support. The toxins clearly taking it's affect on his physical state.

One ilm. The Midlander made no reaction after being struck across his jaw other than his head that recoils from the impact. He simply walks away, no insight to the events given, or even enabling an assumption to anyone of what his thoughts or emotions were, even if he were to stick around. With bushel of greens in hand, the slightly worse for wear Hyur treks through the sandy slopes of Thanalan in search of the run-away Chocobo. Tobias was soon out of both eyesight and earshot from the the caravan. Even the Miqo'te would have difficulty to see the distance he was at or pick up any sound that could be distinguished as his, despite keen senses. Thanks to the constant shifting sands, many of the tracks were becoming partially covered. He figures the bird could not have gone far due to their rearing since they were adorable yellow puffs, lest their trainers had failed. Still, he picks up into a light sprint, forgetting Lorielle's caution--or disregarding it, in sake of finding the beast sooner.

Two ilms. 'What an arse' the Blonde driver in thoughts as he follows the track of the other Chocobo, the sun beating down on bare broad back and muscled chest. 'He knew, I warned 'im' he keeps silent and goes about the business of finding the other lost Chocobo. 'The boy had no right to bring it up...he knew' a quick frown folds over as he attempts to focus on staying angered. Fortunately these tracks were still fairly unaffected by the rolling sands, but he still had to be hasty in the retrieval. 'He deserved it' the driver tries to convince himself as he begins to whistle for the Chocobo. The sound carries faintly back to the caravan. Hopefully there would be a sign.

Three ilms. The injury. It reopened as a tear rather than a cut, a bit more painful for starters. It was fortunate enough that at least it was not so deep when it was a puncture wound. On another bright note, Tobias found his target drinking merrily by a body of untainted water as if nothing had even happened. The Chocobo flings droplets of water from it's beak with an alert 'KWEH!' to the Hyur that approaches with a small smile and shake of his head. It quickly begins to consume the offering of gyshal greens before he opens one of his small pouches and sets to his next task.

Half an ilm. Flecks of mud, dirt, sand, and blood decorates the canvas of the Hyur that comes into view from the vantage point of the caravan, though the scarlet artistically saturates mostly his torso, tunic, and hands. If Tobias arrives before the Blonde-Blue driver, it was unknown to him as he had yet see the man. In one hand was the leash that leads the now calm Chocobo and the other placed 'strategically' over the wound with a swatch of cloth he tore from his tunic to cover it.

It might be a long shot for Tobias to continue on the trip without someone inquiring about the injury, but if by some chance it goes without notice, the stoic Midlander would go about business as per usual. However, he would reveal the current state of the shallow split of skin, though with slight reluctance.

The stitches looks as if it were done by a child who could not even tie his own shoes, but worse. Too many pierces, too little weaves, too much spacing between uneven distances, too little spacing between others. Even the knots to secure the skin in place barely held, only looking as if a simple double-knot was made; further for whatever reason, there were multiple ends poking out here and there where they should not have been in that jumbled mess. It was a wonder how the dirt or sand was not directly on the wound but yet sprinkled liberally on the surrounding area. The only other positive was that it stopped bleeding...mostly. About ninety five percent. At best. The 'surgeon' figures what tiny amount trickles out would eventually stop.

Tobias would only respond with an oblivious, "What?" if any were to gawk, guffaw, or otherwise look at him incredulously. He believes it was a passable job at the very least to patch things up-any other with an inkling of medical knowledge would have begged to differ. Scratch one possibility for the raven-haired being a medic!

Lorielle quickly began sweeping handfuls of clean water over the man's arm, rinsing his skin numerous times.  After a while of careful rinsing, she began using the sleeve of her tunic to soak in water and scrub the man's skin clean.  The toxin was taking effect quickly, and in just a few moments, he would faint.  If he wasn't treated soon, well, Lorielle wouldn't let that happen.

After rinsing and scrubbing his face clean as well, she ripped her satchel from her belt and dumped out its contents.  The small book of her sketches, a needle and thread, a pouch of what sounded like coins, and two small vials.  She scooped up one of the vials, removing the cork and grabbing Clavier's clean arm.  She doused the skin with the antidote, rubbing it in all over his arm, up to his neck, and along the side of his face.

She leaned back and sighed, the heat taking its toll as well as the sudden amount of work she had to do.  Her hair was falling from its braided halo, loose strands sticking to her face and neck.  She regathered her meager belongings into her satchel, tying it back onto her belt.  Then she stood up, scooping the man up from under his arms.  She was not nearly strong enough to carry him, but she wanted to get him back into the caravan where he would be safer.

She began to drag him, being careful not to scratch him across the sand.  She would pause in between pulling, catching her breath for the next bit if lugging.  When she made it to the caravan, she was uncertain how to get him up and into a seat.  Then she saw Tobias return, chocobo in hand.  She could have sighed, relieved, but she was far too tired and worried.

"Tobias," she called out softly, her word coming out in a tired breath, "Could you help me lift him into the cart?"  Her bright turquoise eyes looked different, as if the wild passion she had before was beginning to dim.  She still had her hands beneath the man's arms, trying to be as gentle as possible while not letting go.

Then she noticed the blood trickling from behind the black-haired Hyur's hand.  If she could catch a glimpse of what he had done to try and stop the bleeding, she would have possibly fainted.

"Tobias," she said again, but this time with extreme worry, and clear disappointment in herself.  She should have stopped him and healed him before he went out searching for the chocobo.  Now she feared what might be festering behind the soiled scrap of tunic he was using to shield it.

Kieaira had been busy repacking the cart, grunting softly .. she was unaware just how heavy some of the boxes were, but still she managed to get them all back into place, with only minimal bruising. When she had finished she raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her forehead, and smacked her lips together. Thirsty... One of the crates had been marked water ... would she get in trouble for opening it? She shook her head, she would risk it ... work it off if she couldn't pay for it. She cracked open the box just as Lorielle returned with Clavier, and Tobias as well.

A look of concern crossed her features, but she knew there was not much she could do.. "Water?" She asked, pulling a few vials of water from the box, holding them out if anyone wanted some, and taking one for herself. She popped the cork and raised the glass vial to her lips, closing her eyes as the liquid poured down her throat. She drained about half the bottle before pulling her head away in disgust. "Ugh ... it's warm.." She murmured, re-corking the bottle and slipping it into her pocket. Better than nothing...

Moving away from the back of the cart so Lorielle could tend to the others, she noticed green specs of something in the sand. Upon closer inspection the specs appeared to be bits of leaf... a very particular leaf ... The gyshal greens! She reached to her back pocket, they were in fact gone ... and there hidden by the cart stood one of the chocobos happily munching away. It gave a soft "kweh" as Kieaira slowly approached, hand out stretched, trying to show she was friendly.

Another "kweh" and the bird moved its' head, pushing it against Kieaira's hand, causing a small smile to form upon the young Miqo'te's lips. "Seems like she likes you." A smooth voice came from behind, startling the young girl as she quickly whipped around, the chocobo merely going back to its' munching.

"O-Oh!!" Redness touched her cheeks as she looked up into the sparkling blue eyes of the driver, it would seem his anger had subsided on his walk and he had found the chocobo as well, without anyone even noticing their return. "Sorry." She forced a nervous smile, bringing her hands together in front of her as she played with her fingers, unsure of what to say to the man, especially after his scene with Tobias earlier.

"You've nothing to be sorry for, lass." He smiled, placing a gentle hand upon her shoulder. "No need to be shy ... looks like our arrival in Gridania is going to be delayed, so may as well feel comfortable in your fellow travelers presence." Kieaira looked up at him and nodded, the blush still prominent on her face.

"W-wait... delayed?!" Her voice perked up a bit, as the driver turned around heading towards the back of the cart to address the others as well. "The water is tainted with the toads toxins ... we need to wait at least a day for it to disperse, we'll be setting up camp here."

Kieaira's ears wilted and she looked around. "H-Here?! With all the animals out there..." She whimpered softly.

"Aye, or you can walk back to Black Brush and catch the next cart to Gridania in a week, unless you can bribe someone else to take you, but they might be thieves, or ruffians." He smirked, winking at Kieaira, whose eyes had gone wide, and she looked around nervously. "Besides, these two are probably going to need some rest... and it is well past lunch time now." He raised a hand to block the light from his eyes as he looked up at the position of the sun. "Almost time for dinner..."

The driver looked back at the group, a serious expression on his face. "You all need to decide what you want to do, so I can give out tasks... we need to make a fire and find some shelter before nightfall."

Tobias looks over to Lorielle as she calls out his name. He releases the Chocobo's leash and heads over to Clavier and her. An arm slips under Clavier's as the dark-haired Hyur gives better support to the poisoned man, though his hold on the archer was more stable only due to the fact that Lorielle was petite in size and form.

Tobias escorts and guides Clavier to the back of the caravan as he passes a joke between the two, "We look like a couple of right heroes, aye?" a slight chuckle pressing past parted lips. If the wound hurt at all, the raven-haired man certainly made no signs of discomfort. As Kieaira comes into view, he notices the crate she had gotten into. A quick glance is put past her and towards the back corner of the caravan, underneath the seat Kieaira was during their travels. It was still there. His eyes close for a moment and looks back to the Miqo'te woman, declining the offer with a small shake of his head. The Midlander makes sure Clavier is securely resting against the caravan or sitting on it, giving a solid nod in respect before he moves to leave. Then Lorielle speaks his name again.

This time, however, his name was said in a different inflection, but he knew full well why. It was at least worth a shot to try and keep it hidden. However, that did not mean he would not try and dissuade her. The dark-haired Hyur turns to face the Elezen, a small smile ready on his lips. However, his expression turns to sympathy as the curl on his lips fade as he looks onto her visibly tired and exerted form. Before she can speak anything further to him about his wound, Tobias reaches out an delicately traces the back of his fingers along parts of her neck and face where the hair still clung to. He sweeps the loose brown tresses behind her ear with a ginger touch, not breaking gaze from the woman.

"Take a moment to yourself first. You did well." he speaks softly before he hears Kieaira whimper due to the driver's instructions. His chest inflated as he inhales deeply. It was not surprising that they had to stop their travels for now, but he had hoped, like many others, that their journey to Gridania would be met without incident. A foolish notion.

With a light shake of his head, Clavier tried to keep both of them to fully drag him but take sluggish steps and clearly on the verge of losing consciousness due to weakness caused by the earlier toxins. His words sounding weak as his gaze rests on Tobias from the corner of his eyes.

"Heroes? More like two guys who took a beating by a single toad. Atleast she didn't get hurt."

After finishing his sentence his gaze shifts in Kieara's direction with a relieved expression, as he was rested against the cart. Both his hands rest beside him in the sand to prevent him from falling to his side.

As Clavier is loaded onto the caravan, Lorielle stands up to further adjust how he sat.  She ignored his teasing, certain that he was grateful for their help, or so she would force herself to believe.  She looked hesitant, but after a moment unbuckled her belt and removed her tunic.  Beneath it was a light brown cotton corset, although it covered her more like a modest chemise.  She folded the tunic, shaping it into a sort of pillow before setting it behind the Hyur's head.

As she began to buckle her belt back, Kieaira offered her a drink.  She smiled and nodded gratefully, taking a light sip before corking it and putting the rest in her satchel.  She then hopped from the caravan, coming to Tobias to finally treat his wound.  He paused her, though, brushing back the loose strands of her hair, telling her to first take care of herself.

She flushed crimson, waiting for him to turn away before lowering her head and clutching her arm in embarrassment.  She had no wounds to treat herself, but she did have a few things to take care of.  She turned to Kieaira, looking her up and down shortly before holding her gaze. "Are you alright staying the night here?" She asked, her eyes bright and impassioned again.  "I plan on staying, but if it worries you too greatly, I might escort you back.  After I tend to everyone's wounds, of course."

She truly did not mind staying.  She felt much safer in her current company than she did travelling alone.  She was also their only healer, to her knowledge, and felt she should not leave their sides.  Especially not now, during the aftermath.  Even if Kieaira did want to return, Lorielle would return here shortly after, if she could make it in time.

She turned her head, meeting eyes with the driver.  "I'll stay," she said, letting him know ahead of time so that he could give her whatever chores she could do.  She was eager to get everything set up and out of the way.  Her mind was constantly thinking of that wound Tobias has.  She wouldn't rest until it was healed.

Kieaira turns to Lorielle and nods her head. "I'm staying as well ... I need to get to Gridania." She glanced back up the path, she -did- need to get to Gridania, but she also didn't want to wander off down the path, she felt safer with the entire group, males and all.

"Very well." The driver's smooth voice spoke once more. "Kieaira, think you can manage gathering some firewood without blushing?" He teased once more, giving a playful wink. She nodded and as she turned around, the drivers hand came down upon her behind in a playful smack.

Kieaira turned bright red, and couldn't even muster a response, she merely took off to find said wood, leaving before anyone could say anything. Her mind reeling with questions. Why did he do that?! Is he some sort of pervert? Oh gods, I am not sleeping tonight... nope ... nope ... nope.

The driver turned back to the others. "Fix him up and then go help her." The driver told Lorielle, a glare being flashed at the raven-haired Hyur.

"Who said anything about a toad?" Tobias inquires with a small jest present again in his voice, "You were fortunate enough to do battle with a giant slimy creature that would do foul to our company," he lets out a small laugh almost as if too embarrassed to admit it to himself, "I, on the other hand, was lanced by a Chocobo."

Turns his attention from Clavier to Kieaira as he hears a bit of skin to skin contact of sorts. By the time the youthful looking Hyur peers at Kieaira her face was already the color of hot flames. He stifles a grin as he knew exactly what had happened without having to have seen it. However, he does not turn away as the driver glares at him, instead retorting to him in his orders to Lorielle.

"I said I will keep." Tobias states matter-of-factly.

"And I said for her to patch you up." Blondie-Blue replies flatly.

"You have no authority over her."

"Sure as the Seven I have it over you." he takes a bit of an authoritative tone as he steps closer to the black-crowned man.

"For now." he simply replies and stands his ground.

"You want to do this right now?"

"You do not your spear if you want to." he says with a slight cant of his head.

"Don't need it, boy." jaw clenches with his words.

"Enough. We have more important things to deal with."

"...aye. We will finish this later." the driver agrees as he steps back, eyes narrowed still before moving away.

Tobias looks back to Lorielle a sigh on his lips before he says to her, "I will be near. Seek me after you do what else is necessary. Please." With that he goes to secure both Chocobo's.

Even Lorielle blushed at the playful smack, just seeing it was enough to make her turn her head and pretend she had seen nothing of it.  The chore she was given wasn't so much a chore as something she had been waiting to finish.  She began to approach Tobias again when the two started fighting again.  If a punch was thrown this time, Lorielle would have had a hand in it.

However, the driver just turned and walked away, leaving Tobias be.  He approached Lorielle, telling her where to find him.  Before he could take a single full step away from her, she grabbed his arm firmly.  "I tire of chasing you around," she said matter-of-factly, her voice a peculiar mix of humor and serious concern.  "I tend to your wound. Now."

Before he could object, not that she thought he would, she took his hand and gently but rather swiftly moved it away from the wound.  She cringed at what she saw, moving her hand back involuntarily in shock. She looked back at the wound, the blood dried, and the stitching enough to make her stomach churn.  She looked up into Tobias's dark eyes with sincere disbelief and worry.

"Tobias," she muttered, lowering her head and shaking it slightly.  "Why didn't you come to me."  Her brows bowed with overwhelming sadness as she softly and somewhat absent-mindedly touched near the stitching.  "We have to fix this right away," she said, more to herself than to Tobias.

She withdrew her hand, grabbing her staff from over her shoulder.  "You might want to find a comfortable place to sit for a while," she said.  "I'm not letting you move around very much until you heal."  The thought of the driver flashed through her mind for just a brief moment.  If he ordered him to do something, she would stuff the head of her staff between his teeth.

"Interesting", a man spoke with a husky voice as he surveyed the scene below from a crouched posture, resting the weight of his upper body on his knee. His position gave a clear view of the caravan and its occupants below, though was far enough away to ensure that he would not be detected. The gentle evening breeze brushed through his short, greasy, black hair as he continued observing them in another moment's silence, his narrow eyes focusing and analyzing everything carefully.

"What is it, Tarquin?" a hooded highlander called out to the man from behind, eyeing him with curiosity as he rested the shaft of his great axe over his shoulder casually. He was accompanied by slightly shorter, red-headed highlander female. She took a couple of steps forward to stand alongside the highlander in silent interest as they both awaited an answer from their leader.

Tarquin continued observing the unsuspecting travelers below for a brief moment before smiling wryly to himself and offering a response to his larger comrade.

"Easy prey" he answered cockily as he took to his feet and retreated from the cliff face.

A look of curiosity crossed the highlander's face as he stepped towards the cliff edge to inspect Tarquin's discovery for himself. His eyes followed the curvature of the cliff face before falling upon the idle target residing in the valley below. He grunted in uncertainty as he studied the scene for a moment before turning to look back at the midlander.

"Its just a small caravan though, and the people there are armed. Is it even worth the effort?" the highlander enquired in his naturally rough tone, shifting his gaze to their female associate briefly as if trying to interpret her own impression. She was, however, silent and unreadable as always.

Tarquin met his ally's gaze, offering him a confident look.

"Worry not, Amadi. You can't see it from this angle but they are, with narry a doubt, carrying cargo"

He turned away from his comrades as he adjusted his gauntlets by firmly tightening their laces before rolling his shoulders around in their sockets lazily in attempt to loosen up his joints, tossing his head from one side to the other to stretch his neck muscles simultaneously.

"Anyroad, should the cargo 'not be worth the effort' in the end, there are still two females down there that we could sell off for some decent coin".

Reaching towards a longsword that had been thrusted firmly into the soft and brittle dirt, he withdrew it cleanly, placing it carefully back into its holster by his left hip. He glanced back over his shoulder to address the two highlanders, his expression turning more serious as he did so.

"We'll strike at nightfall" he declared decisively, allowing both highlanders to nod in understanding before he turned to face forward once again, vacating the area with his comrades following closely and obediently behind him.

Kieaira's face was slowly loosing the redness as she wandered away from the caravan, picking up small twigs and sticks that could at least be used as a starter for the fire. She was still trying to figure out why the driver had been so .... affectionate ... was the word she would choose to describe the playful smack to her rear.

"Maybe this trip was a bad idea..." She started talking to herself, as she searched for more wood, walking further from the cart, she was worried about possibly being attacked by a beast, but she wanted time for the incident to leave everyones mind.

"No ... No ... I need to go back ... I just hope he's not still there..." She sighed, bending down to pick up a larger stick, placing it in the pile in her arms, but a slight movement drew her attention.

Walking along the stick was a little black beetle ... a harmless creature but with the way Kieaira let out a loud scream you would think she had been shot. She screamed loud enough for it to be heard back at the cart, dropping the sticks and twigs and brushing at her clothes as she whimpered. BUGS! UGH! WHY?!?!

He had forced himself up onto his feet although in his weak condition he had tried to control the trembling after effect in his hand caused by the toxin. Taking slow steps around the encampment as he watched the driver give a tap on Kieaira's behind and her red face as she moved off alone. His right hand resting on a small hilt at his thigh as a sort of mental support.

Moving closer to her as he suddenly heard her scream, a pained expression forming on his face as he took more hurried steps closer with the small blade unsheated he reached her, "Kie, you okay?" he managed to bring out before nearly succumbing to his own weak condition.

Tobias goes with only a tiny amount of playful hesitation. A mischievously mirthful ring to his words as Lorielle grabs him by the arm, "But Lady Elezen, chasing is half the fun!" She was right in the fact that he would not actually resist any of her commands and doings, simply letting the Elezen Conjurer do what she was trained to do.

Of course, Lorielle was the first to naturally receive the oblivious shrug from Tobias gives as she finally sees the...handiwork of the Hyur. "What?" he makes another shrug, "Most of the bleeding has already stopped. No need to make a fuss, aye?" He already knew what her answer would be. Well most likely, unless she decided to give him a 'thwap' with her staff in response. Definitely would not expect that.

He looks about to find a suitable place to sit and spots a bit of grass that patches around one of the sparsely remaining trees in Thanalan. "That should do then." he lets her head over over before he follows behind. As he looks about while moving to the spot, he casts a glance over to the cliff faces.

Tobias was at least thankful that there was no danger to the caravan, the respite being welcomed entirely as the group would definitely need it. He sits down in a shaded area and allows Lorielle to work as he continues to casually look around the usual scenery, other than the group of travelers and caravan, nothing out of the ordinary was seen from the Hyur.

Then Kiearia screams. "Ah Seven..." he mutters before he attempts to get Lorielle to stop, "we can finish this later."

Kieaira let out a slow breath, she was visibly shaking but shook her head 'No' in response to Clavier. "You should be resting!" She looked back towards the cart, before reaching down to pick up the fallen wood. "Come on." She said, starting to walk back towards the others.

The driver led the chocobos over to the shade of a nearby tree and secured them, dropping a few gyshal greens on the ground to keep them satisfied until he could get their feed from the cart, which was nearby, just off to the side of the road.

"There's some sleeping bags and I think a tent in one of the crates ... find them." He waved his hand dismissively towards Lorielle, since she was among one of the only ones not injured and responsive. His blue eyed gaze shifting towards Kieaira and Clavier as they made their way back over.

The driver huffed and began to walk off once more, clearly annoyed ... from the unexpected stop? Or perhaps his tiff with Tobias? It was unclear, but Kieaira knew better than to try and find out ... she didn't want to be near him alone at the very least.

She dropped the wood on the ground near the tree. "I can't make a fire ... but here..." She looked towards Tobias, hoping he would know what to do.

"Atleast sit with me, please. I don't think I want to sleep or sit alone at the moment." a light smile forcing itself onto his lips as he walked beside her in the direction of the cart. Even in his weakened condition he seemed strong willed enough to keep up with her pace and his posture remaining somewhat straightened out as if being a sort of bodyguard.

As they reached the cart he sat back down near the cart, a faint sigh escaping him as he retracted his arms from within the wet sleeves of the leather jacket and rested it beside him spread out on the ground, looking at Tobias and Lorielle with a smirk.

X'ahce had stepped away from the Caravan crew once the toad had died and everyone began talking amongst themselves and fighting innately. With little interest but to get to Gridania, he had chosen to detatch himself from the scenario

Walking off to the side along the river, he'd sit where the water was clear from the Toad's remains. Checking himself briefly for poison that would intel danger, he'd nod his head with approval. Waiting for some time to pass, his ear would flicker once the driver spoke of a delay, which was expected in his own mind.

As the day grew on and the bickering and playfulness kindled back and forth, he'd continue fletching more wood and keeping to himself silently to his thoughts.

Kieaira left the wood with Tobias and walked back towards the cart nearby, close enough that she could still speak with Tobias if need be. She pulls herself up onto the side of the cart, pushing one of the crates back so she could sit comfortably without being too close to Clavier.

She glances towards X'ahce whom had been rather quiet lately ... it didn't sit well with her, and should he look her way he might notice the slight wrinkling of her nose in distaste, before she would hastily look away.

"I wonder if there's any food in these boxes..." she murmured, raising her head to look for any labels, since the driver had gone off somewhere on his own. She gave a small shrug, and figured she would ask when he returns, turning her attention back to the Hyur male. "How are you feeling?" She said softly, brushing the ivory locks from her face.

His body shifted to side against the cart rather then away from it, keeping a somewhat decent talking distance from Kieara. "I feel weak. Makes me wonder if it was the wisest decision to go so close to that toad even with a bow which is now gone." - both green irises concealed as his eyes fall shut, the hempen shirt he wears hangs open at his chest only for a small portion but enough to reveal a black mark of a snake visible just not reaching his shoulder. "Atleast you are fine." he'd utter out softly.

Kieaira's cheeks flushed lightly. "Ah ... well ... I wasn't really in any danger ... I was keeping back." She shifted her spot on the cart. "I'm not a fighter ... so best to stay out of the way." She let forth a soft, nervous laugh, and looked around.

"I guess this isn't the worst place to spend the night..." She moved again, this time crawling back into the cart to start looking through the crates. "Wonder if I can find---"

"Oi!" Her words were cut off by the drivers sudden return. "What are you doing?"

"Oh ... I was hoping there was some food or a tent or something."

"Here." He said throwing a bagged tent that landed at the bottom of the cart, before passing over a basket of food. "I ran back to Black Brush to pick up some things." He offered a brief explanation for his absence. "Do what you want with it." Once more the driver wandered off, leaving the travelers to put together a temporary camp.

"Well ... I can cook if nothing else." She muttered to herself, looking back towards Tobias. "Can you start a fire? And someone will need to set up the tent... Err ... X'ahce?" She bit down on her lower lip, seeming very nervous to be speaking to the otherwise quiet Seeker.

X'ahce had been keeping to himself for the most part, letting his mind wander and drift to departure or not. He looked up once his name was spoken, and diverted his attention to the shy miqo'te that he'd least expect to speak up. He perked his eyebrow with curiosity at the question before speaking, "Do we need just one large tent or a number of tents?"

Lorielle looked at Tobias with narrow, gleaming eyes. They looked harsh, as if she was being pushed to her very edge.

"I swear, if I have to tie you down to heal you, I will."  She bit her lower lip, brushing back some loose strands of dark hair that fell into her eyes.  "You can go gallivanting about after I've fixed this.  Unless you want this to be painful, I suggest you sit still for a few minutes."

Her gaze relaxed, her face becoming less tense as she breathed in and looked down from Tobias's eyes to his wound.  She released her held breath, setting her staff on the ground at her side and dusting her hands on one another.  She reached down to his mediocre stitching, grabbing one end of the already unraveling thread between two of her finger nails.

She visibly cringed as she began gently and slowly pulling the stitches back out of the skin.  Her brows narrowed and her face became tense.  Watching the bloodied thread pull the skin as it slipped out from the tears made her stomach churn, but she could not look away during the delicate procedure.  The wound began to bleed again slightly, and after the thread was almost fully removed, she could see that the wound had not closed at all.  The thread was merely holding the open ends of the wound together.

Once the thread was removed, Lorielle dropped it into the small patch of grass they sat in.  She swallowed hard, audibly choking down something that had risen in her throat.  She gave a short, quick glance up at Tobias, her eyes showing sympathy rather than the anger they held several minutes before.  She reached for her staff again, holding it tightly and placing her free hand over the wound.  She began healing, as she had before, but slowly in a more relaxed atmosphere.

Although it took a longer time to close the wound and heal the flesh, it was done.  In place of the wound was a light scar with several small branching scars from the stitching before.  The scar was shallow, hardly visible apart from the lighter shade.  Lorielle ran her fingertips over the scar, feeling no bump or rise in the skin.  It was fully closed, and any movement on Tobias's part would not reopen it.

Lorielle untucked her legs, which she had been sitting on for the past ten minutes or so.  She stretched them out to the side, leaning back on her hands looking winded.  Almost as soon as she finished, she heard their driver call out to her to start looking for sleeping bags and a tent.  She nodded shortly, breathing in and running her hands across her head to push back all of the hair that had fallen.

Looking a bit annoyed, and with a sudden flourish, she reached back and ripped out her hair clip, the loose remnants of her braid falling against her back.  She secured the hair clip to the top of her chemise, using her staff to get her to her feet.  Her hair fell to her waist in many small waves, the braid fully unraveling as she began walking to the caravan to begin her next duty.  She looked exhausted, but determined enough to do what she must.
