Dravus Posted August 10, 2014 Share #1 Posted August 10, 2014 I've been having a lot of fun over the last few days indulging in role-play on my Miqo'te, though I figured it'd be worthwhile creating a thread in order to scratch a particular itch that is unlikely to be sated easily. There's no shortage of Miqo'te being role-played on Balmung. There is, however, a shortage of Miqo'te that don't simply act and speak like Hyur. It's rather difficult to explain exactly what I mean by that and it is by no means meant in a overwhelmingly negative manner. I come from a WoW background where role-play is concerned and I made it a point to go that extra mile to portray my blood elf as something more than a handsome human-with-long-ears. I'm looking to do the same with my Miqo'te, though for the sort of stuff I have in mind it'd be easier to team up with like-minded folk instead of relying solely on random encounters. My Miqo'te is the grim and serious sort which doesn't really make him all that suitable for hanging out in a tavern and having a friendly chat over a couple of drinks. He's a hunter-gatherer who would prefer to bond with another character (of any race) over the tracking and slaying of a boar out in the wilds. He's polite, reasonably friendly and reserved - though as he essentially lives on the outskirts of Eorzean society he struggles to adhere to societal norms and can be hilariously blunt and confusing at times! So if this sort of thing sounds interesting to anyone out there then I'd love to team up and get some long term role-play going with a heavy focus on character development, travelling throughout Eorzea. This would be on foot, ideally - though the use of boats and airships are an option too where land travel would not make sense. I'm also looking for someone to be a long term antagonist. A Garlean could tie into this rather easily as he has a bone to pick with their kind but I'm open to other types of villains and anti-heroes as well! At any rate, I hope this thread makes sense - it's currently 4am here but I figured I'd toss it up anyway to see if there's much interest in this sort of thing. I've deliberately left the exact details vague as I prefer to keep an element of intrigue and mystery that is often shattered when each and every last bit of information is revealed about a character in advance. You're welcome to reply here, contact me over PM or even just toss me a message in-game to discuss matters further! Link to comment
Faye Posted August 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2014 Hello there! I'm always glad to make some new friends and RP buddies. I have a couple Seekers who've left their tribes and thus become a little lost on their culture, but they do still retain a lot of tribal traits (speech especially). I also have a Garlean character (granted, he's undercover, so it may take some work to find a feasible reason to pick a bone with him), and perhaps I have a couple other potential antagonists among my characters! Kailia Posted August 10, 2014 Share #3 Posted August 10, 2014 My character K'ailia, was exiled from her tribe a while back. However, she still has much to learn about outsider culture. For example, she's honest to a major fault, and blunt, much to the annoyance of a friend that plays an Elezen lol. So if your char hangs out in the shroud, or even lavender beds, well look me up! Yune Posted August 10, 2014 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2014 My main character, Yune, is a Keeper Miqo who was raised by lalafell parents but possesses a deep curiosity of traditional Miqo'te society and those who come from it, as she wants to find some insight about the culture her real family might have come from. She may not be exactly what you were advertising for, but perhaps it might make for some interesting interactions if they ever became acquainted? Link to comment
111 Posted August 10, 2014 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2014 If you ever need an antagonist Nat is pretty good at that role. Link to comment
FreelanceWizard Posted August 10, 2014 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2014 If you want an social antagonist who will happily go off on tirades about how horrible tribal miqo'te culture is, L'yhta may be a great character to meet. Alternatively, if you want your character to meet someone where that can be a source of tension while they interact and bond over adventure, she can fill that role, too. She's pretty cosmopolitan, but her background and behavior are heavily informed by tribal culture (since that's where she grew up). Link to comment
Zhavi Posted August 10, 2014 Share #7 Posted August 10, 2014 Haha, Zhi could make a good antag for stuff in the city, but I'm guessing she's one of the ones you feel is too hyur-like (which was, admittedly, my intent with her -- she's totally lost the ethnicity of her people by growing up in a big port city). But more than that -- I definitely encourage you to check out the tribal groups. I can't remember the names right now, but there should be a FC or two focused on that sort of lifestyle. There's also a very long thread regarding the K tribe in Town Square. Good luck with your search! Link to comment
Mayumi Shiro Posted August 10, 2014 Share #8 Posted August 10, 2014 Your character sounds like the lost half of my character! Rather the male half. My toon (Don't use the wiki here that char is dead), is a tribal huntress from the L tribe trying to figure out how to function outside of her familiar surroundings. She's a bit of a bitch, fair warning. Though a ton of fun and at her most relaxed and at ease when she's out away from "civilization" Send me a /tell sometime if you wana meet up. Link to comment
Dravus Posted August 11, 2014 Author Share #9 Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks for the responses, everyone! I've spoken to a few of you already in-game and had some brilliant role-play as well! If I haven't managed to catch some of you online yet then feel free to poke me whenever it's convenient and we can set something up! Link to comment
Jilan Posted August 13, 2014 Share #10 Posted August 13, 2014 Hihi! I have a Keeper from the Shroud who's a bandit in (pretty much) exile. Of her tribe, the ones who aren't dead are locked up for banditry, so she's in the market for a new posse to run with. Link to comment
WanderingWordsmith Posted August 16, 2014 Share #11 Posted August 16, 2014 Yours sounds like a very interesting character. I'd be more than happy to get in touch and sort some form of contact out, if you're still looking for people to RP with! Link to comment
Umi Posted August 20, 2014 Share #12 Posted August 20, 2014 Hello! Not sure if this is still open but my character at the moment is sorta new, honestly it is mostly because I am not sure where to start in bringing her out of her FC. However, if this is still open I would gladly RP with you! Link to comment
