Gegenji Posted February 25, 2015 Share #51 Posted February 25, 2015 The only problem with privately-queued chocobo races is that you can't spectate a race. Ah, true. Hrm. Well, at least it'd be simple enough to see the results even if you can't spectate it - someone can just screenshot the results page at the end. So you'd have that at least for doing things like bets and such. Just losing out on ICly shouting at whatever bird you bid on to run faster or grab that powerup or whatever. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted February 25, 2015 Share #52 Posted February 25, 2015 I understand how the plus rule works and I can't figure out setups to beat the King. Granted, I'm going in with a heavily edited deck and the disparities between the figures doesn't help. I'm also trash at this game in general (not just TT) so w/e. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted February 25, 2015 Share #53 Posted February 25, 2015 Here's the simple breakdown: Use the starting deck of coeurl, dodo, bomb, mandragora, and sabotender. Get first move. If he gets it, odds of losing go up substantially. Put dodo in bottom right corner. He will almost always put Godbert above it. Put mandragora in top left corner. He will almost always put Titan or Greg to the right of it. Put coeurl in bottom left corner. I forget what he puts to take it. Here you can either cinch the win or gamble a bit. If you want to gamble, put sabotender in top right corner and pray he doesn't put anything in the middle. If he does, you lose. Put bomb in middle. Watch everything flip. Profit! Link to comment

Either my Eorzea's worst luck is kicking me in the dick for the 9001th time or it's just not that valid. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted February 26, 2015 Share #55 Posted February 26, 2015 The key is him putting his cards where they need to be. If Godbert doesn't go into middle right and Titan/Greg into top center, you gotta basically play it by ear and pray. Link to comment
Spethah Posted February 26, 2015 Share #56 Posted February 26, 2015 Guess I'm stuck to punching Greg for a ponytail. Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted February 26, 2015 Share #57 Posted February 26, 2015 Chocobo races are at least entertaining and have an okay payout. I don't think you have to pay to do them either. Link to comment
Kage Posted February 26, 2015 Share #58 Posted February 26, 2015 Choco races are 10 MGP each Link to comment
Chris Ganale Posted February 26, 2015 Share #59 Posted February 26, 2015 Ah. Still, that's pocket change when you get like 50+ even if you don't win. Link to comment

If Godbert doesn't go into middle right and Titan/Greg into top center, you gotta basically play it by ear and pray. Playing it by ear is how I managed to Plus-wreck other characters. I'll just re-do the starter and go with that, then. Proof of that, I've gotten more wins over the King tonight when HE started. Urianger WRECKS this strat hard because he has plus against that set-up - if your choices are bottom center, center and top right, you NEED to put the Sabo in top right or else you're eating Urianger to the face. Chris Ganale Posted February 26, 2015 Share #61 Posted February 26, 2015 I have a fairly even win/loss rate doing that. My girlfriend can quick-math in her head so she wrecks him a lot even when he goes first or plays cards funny. Link to comment
Kellach Woods Posted February 26, 2015 Share #62 Posted February 26, 2015 Just have to remember that most times your last play will Plus and will be either Cactuar or Bomb, so anything with difference 1 or even will plus in center square. Link to comment
Caspar Posted February 26, 2015 Share #63 Posted February 26, 2015 My character needs to find something to do leisure wise at some point, since suddenly she must confront the specter of "free time" every once in a while. Making a TT deck might be a good way to show that. I feel like chocobo racing would probably be too high end and expensive a hobby for her, sadly. (I like that minigame.) Also TT uses very little luck, whereas other presumed existing card games do. (<-1 luck stat.) Link to comment
