  1. Welcome, Wyrmies! I understand your frustrations and you don’t even have to go into detail about it, but I do still catch myself going back now and then (I still have 10 days left and wanna work on my first Alliance, dang it), but that means I’ll have to redownload and reconfigure my addons, so.. it helps me from not staying too long.. ANYWAY.. I don’t see it breaking the lore, either! With XIV, the lore is a lot more open than Azeroth and its counterparts, where we can be pretty much whatever we want to be without people jumping down our throats about it I hope your time in Eorzea is great and you have a lot of fun~
  2. So you can chalk most of my post up to irrelevant wine talk, but as someone who RPs, and knows others who RP straight women, I am going to have to disagree. Again, we’re out there. I’ve seen so many. We’re not unicorns, there are just more people feeling open and more comfortable enough about who they are and who they love (even if that’s something only able to be expressed through RP) so there are different kinds of love out there. That’s beautiful to me, not disappointing. We’re both speaking from the other side of a fence neither of us will cross. You’ll continue to talk about how it’s difficult to find straight women in RP while I’ll continue to be a creeper in the Steps who reads search infos and Carrds about straight men and women.
  3. I may have hit the “do not post on public forums” limit of red wine so forgive me if I overstep or completely miss the point here, but what does the person behind the character matter if you’re roleplaying? Nobody is forcing you to roleplay with anyone you don’t want to roleplay with. I can guarantee you that there are straight women out there who RP straight female characters. I can guarantee there are straight MEN out there roleplaying straight female characters. The world is absolutely beautiful nowadays where people can love who they want and be who they want. Let them. But don’t you say that there is “no love” for them. Also, remember that OOC//IC are two completely different things (:
  4. Well, I know I'm a few days late, but welcome back! I hope that whatever you decide to do brings you a bunch of happiness and you're both sucked (back) into the game and get all the RP and game wholesomeness
  5. I. Basic Info Character: Remi Dhen. I'm boring and this is my only character~ Linkshells: I've been "playing" the game on and off for a couple years and I still don't know what these actually are. Primary RP linkshell: Nope Part of the Black Griffin Adventuring Company now! II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I was heavy, but life and anxiety (I guess that counts as life?) got in the way and had me curl up in a ball for a while, focusing strictly on work and trying to manage everything. Nowadays, I'm light/medium because.. well.. anxiety is still here and with me not having RP'd in what feels like a lifetime, I'm afraid of falling on my face and having people laugh at me. Views on RP combat and injuries: I play as mainly an AST/White Mage. I'm a healing/nurturing type IRL and it translates well to my RP. I've never played a character that's been injured or personally done any combat RP because I've just.. never done it. I avoid conflict because I'm a pushover and will agree with people when push comes to shove.. if it even gets that far. Views on IC romance: As long as IC stays IC and doesn't bleed into OOC and it doesn't mentally/physically hurt anyone, I'm okay with it. If our characters mesh, they mesh. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Hey, look! Something else I've never done! I'm not opposed to them.. I just.. haven't done them. Views on lore: I'm not entirely sure that I know anything about the lore, but what I do know, I like to stick to. Then again, I RP Remi as a former member of a caravanserai. While she's seen a lot of the world and interacted with a bunch of people, she hasn't been anywhere long enough to know a lot about them or their cultures. I'm willing to learn, though. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'd say it depends on where we are. If it's a crowded place, maybe being in a party would be better? Usually, I'm in quiet places with things I've set up with folks and we're in /say, but never say never, right? III. Other Info Country: United States Timezone: Eastern Discord - Kirakira#8994 I am on here, the RPC, too! https://remidhen.carrd.co/ And I'm almost always available in game. I work two jobs now, though.. and sometimes things get busy, so if I miss your message in game, please message me here or even Discord to let me know I missed you and I'll do my best to make it up to you~
  6. Hi hi! Welcome to the RPC and to FFXIV RP! I hope that you have a wonderful time :)
  7. Welcome to the RPC and to the RP side of FFXIV! Have you had any RP happen since you posted? I'm curious how it went :)
  8. I'm sorry that I can't be of literally any help, because this is a situation I know absolutely nothing about. The only thing that's come to my mind is asking in game and/or checking the FC list on here, but I am sure you've already done both of those and my comment is just a waste of time. So, I hope you find what you're looking for and am once again sorry that I am of no help ._.
  9. Welcome to the RPC~ I believe the community here is fantastic and I hope you continue to enjoy your time here. i still log in to WrA though.
  10. Hey there~ And we are very happy to have you. I hope you've been having fun~ I find myself playing both WoW and this.. though, it hasn't been much of either lately. Just kinda been.. here, if that makes sense. I've kind of been in a special place for a while but this isn't the place .. I always ran Holy though. Disc scared me . I liked Resto Druid, and I'll get around to Resto Shammy.. eventually.. I think ESO is the one game I haven't tried. I've seen some gameplay, though! It looks like something where anybody with any class can do any role, which kind of throws me for a loop because I'm not sure what I'd even do. Too many options puts me in a small panic state and I get a super flustered, lol. I can't imagine what it's like in dungeons or raids~ If it's not Famfrit, Balmung or Mateus, I'm not familiar with it. How is it over there so far? Are there nice people over there in EU? I get what you're going for in terms of characters, though! I like to nurture and have alwaysalwaysalways RP'd and.. well.. been more of a supporting character than a leader. Don't lose that pride ;D - in terms of alts, though.. I'm not sure what you mean by this game being not alt friendly and I'm sorry. There may be some things out there that could stop you from wanting to create a supporting character to your supportive character (glamour, maybe?) but I'm not super sure and I am so sorry. I believe there are some super helpful topics in the lore discussion area of the site. If what you're looking for isn't covered, ask! We don't bite here. I don't think. https://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum/37-lore-discussion/ The main point is your enjoyment. There are some super informative folks here that can help you find your way. I hope that the combination of you looking for answers to your questions and finding people to accompany you on your journey lead to you settling into a place you can happily call home (there are plots open now and again, but I'm always thinking I'm being smart and am greeted by what I could swear is the entire server and I honestly have -100% idea what I'm doing anyway so I just attempt to play it off). So, please, get yourself a nice cup of your favorite beverage, feel encouraged to cruise through the RPC, and meet some more folks!
  11. Hey, Damian! Probably the most least qualified person to respond, here~ I thought I was anxious around people before, but now that I have almost no contact with anyone outside of those I work with, I swear it's gotten 12 times worse. I get the intimidation, even if it is over a completely different reason. My experiences have led me to the belief that the people in FFXIV are very, very fun to be around. There are a lot of great people out there, and they're nothing to be afraid of. With the lore being how it is, you can practically make your character whoever you want them to be. There's a lot of freedom out there, and there's absolutely no rush in getting it all sorted out. It's your pace. In regards to what? There are a looooot of people out there that are into all sorts of different things, and I think it's unfair to judge off of what you read instead of what you experience. Like I said, I've met a lot of nice people on here (AND I'm on Balmung!). I know people are still doing content. We don't all run at the same pace, right? Maybe check with a few more folks and check party finder and whatnot. One of my friends is constantly in and out of raids (and she's on Balmung!). I'm definitely not qualified to speak further here, but I feel that if she's able to find people to run content with, then there are folks to run content with. I couldn't tell you how many times I told myself I'd level crafting but.. never did. It's definitely doable, and I'm sure you could do it. You can visit other servers in the same data center, yes. You're not sure if it's worth a loading screen to go hang out somewhere else? I don't understand this bit. So don't pick a small empty server! Are there even any of those? I'm only really familiar with Famfrit, Mateus and Balmung.. all of which I've met some fantastic people (broken record, sorry..) and had some wonderful experiences. Ultimately, and this is obvious, you should pick what makes you happy. You could always just work on an alt somewhere you were curious about and get to know the server yourself. Run the content. See if you like it. You can listen to other people and how they feel about things all the time, but how will you know if it doesn't fit what you're looking for unless you try it yourself, right? What's the worst that could happen here? You lose a couple hours of time?
  12. Hey there! Welcome to the RPC! There's a loooooot of freedom when it comes to writing about your character. You can go in just about any direction you want to! For example, I went with being picked up by a theatre troupe and now I do tarot readings I hope you're enjoying your time with FFXIV and hope that you're able to get a ton of enjoyment out of it.
  13. When I think forum RP, I just imagine it like.. this. All text. Clearly I’m wrong and just.. dumb! Two events?! That’s more than I’ve been to all month .. Did you have fun? What are your first impressions compared to forum RP? Even though you’re not 100%, I’m glad to hear you went with the flow! That can lead to some fun times, and I think it makes things just feel kinda natural. The rest will come, I promise! I work off Amazon WorkSpaces from home so if it’s not super busy then I can play, but even then I’m pretty limited as to what I can do.. just in case we do get busy. So, no Roulettes for me (it’s taken me like two weeks to get my Dancer to 66 ._.).. I also have an obsession with seeing people’s art since I have zero skill in it myself so let us know when you get that done
