I haven't touched Coil either. I'm glad to know this one is a step behind! Not really fond of the armours so far, but I might like them more once I find a better view ^^
-
What children? (Just in case my point hasn't been made clear, I'm not against nor in favour of the /doze emote. I just don't care. If Square Enix does, it's very fine with me, I understand).
-
I think that any adult theme that the game might imply is easily surpassed by what the community does. As you said, people are even doing those things with normal emotes; even more reason for them to believe that adding the /doze emote will only be worse. Of course, it'd be great if we could make our characters sleep anywhere. It's especially good for RP scenes of battles where a character faints. But I'm not stupid and I know what that emote will be mostly used for; if this future situation is a problem for Square Enix, then I can understand they don't want that to happen. Because it's going to happen, let's be honest *laughs*. I foresee that people who would use the /doze emote with innocent purposes are a minority. So, while I won't use it with those purposes, I understand if Square Enix wants to prevent kids from doing that. It's not our fault, but we have to deal with the fact that online games are full of people who do act like kids.

Hahaha, their explanation is funny, and I can understand it. I don't think they're focusing on ERPers but on random people who will surely find a new tool for weird screenshots (or for harassing others). As if the current emotes hadn't been enough for them, it's clear what many if not most people would use the doze emote for ^^; You have to treat the online communities as if they were little kids, because in the end that's how many of them will act. If the company doesn't want people to join FFXIV for the "sexy possibilities", then it's only normal they'll try to protect the game's image *shrugs*. I personally don't care.

It's entirely possible that many miqo'te living in the cities are maintaining their family tribe dynamics simultaneously. Remember, "tribe" doesn't automatically imply some isolated group of individuals far out in the wilderness. Perhaps that N' or K' or W' or whatever prefix miqo'te NPC you see in town is just one of a whole family who live and make a living in the city as a unit. I know Twinflame has got a sort of mafia-esque dynamic going with one of his miqo'te's tribe. Food for thought! Just cause a miqo'te is in the city, doesn't mean they've forsaken their tribe's way of life! Ah, that's true. I had assumed that Miqo'tes were either living in the deserts/forests like good tribes, or had completely abandoned the tribal life to embrace the city customs, in which case their names could be just anything (except Japanese names, as there's no way to justify them within the lore that I know of (?) ). But yes, this game doesn't seem to display any Miqo'te who doesn't have a proper Miqo'te name, so it's either they're still a part of a tribe as you say, or they simply maintain their roots even if they abandon the tribal life itself to mix with other cultures. I don't know and I'm glad I'm not playing a city Miqo'te; it's suddenly sounding too complicated to figure out ^^;

As it was stated, I'm also okay with it so long as the other person has an explanation for their character's name, which tends to be the case. However, if this kind of "special" situation happens more often than not and becomes the norm, I have to completely, 100% agree with Faye. The lore itself would change and the races would lose their identity. I like experiencing the original lore, so I'd naturally be bothered by this. In any case, I haven't played with many people myself, so I haven't experienced this kind of problem. In the Miqo'te's case, most of the Miqo'te NPCs we see in game aren't even tribal, so seeing a city Miqo'te is a very normal occurrence. No idea about other races, as I've only RPed with Hyurs and Miqo'tes so far, and I don't remember any of them being out of the norm. Edit: I didn't notice this, but I've been pointed out that even city Miqo'te NPCs still have tribal names... In that case, I guess that being a Miqo'te and not having a Miqo'te name is indeed rare, no matter if you're from a tribe or from a city. I've mostly RPed with the Miqo'tes from the K tribe, so I don't really know how many Miqo'te characters are actually ignoring the lore naming system.

With the colossal worm dead on the ground, the peaceful song of the wind could be heard again. For K’mih, however, a new battle seemed to commence when she raised her eyes to the distant figure of her father, stoic and victorious after the fall of the giant. It was odd. It was… … like seeing him for the first time. Her eyelids opened wide, only to quickly fall down to the ground. She didn’t quite know what was wrong or why his image was making her so nervous now; it was fear, maybe. Fear for his eyes to look at her in the same way her mother and K’nahli had. K’ile would likely tell him, or he’d find out just by looking at her. Ah, but what was he going to find out? What had she done wrong? Why was she suddenly feeling so guilty? She gripped the piece of arrow she was holding. “T-thank you, f-father…” Her voice trembled, her gaze still on the ground. The world was spinning around her and there seemed to be no way to make it stop. It wouldn’t stop, she just didn’t know yet. “I… E-excuse me!” Without waiting for any reply, the young Miqo’te started running away, as fast and as far as she could. Whatever was wrong inside her, her father would find out; she didn’t want to be there when that happened.

Mannequins and airships?! @_@ You can even change the background music! I'm looking forward to all this. I wish 2.1 came with player houses as well.

((OOC: As a reply to an awesome PM I received today. For some reason, I can't send any PM back, so this will do.)) In the morning, Clover is confused when she's told that someone left a gift for her. She takes no time to start reading the mysterious letter, hoping to find a clue as to who it could be from. The words she finds written there, however, are far from shedding light into the matter. Her eyes open wider, her mind races. The Echo? Grandpa told her about it on some occasions, but it’s the first time she’s gotten the chance to actually see its effects. What’s clear is that someone has managed to take a look inside her mind, an unknown person who could be just anyone. Scary as the thought might be, she can’t help the rush of interest and curiosity to learn more. The first thing she does is ask around the guild if anyone has seen the person who left the gift there, but no one seems to know anything about the matter. “I must let that person know that I’m looking for them,” she decides next, and starts trying to send mental messages to whoever can hear them. (“Who are you?”) Her thoughts keep asking as the day goes on, no matter where she is. (“Why are you hiding?”)

With the image of Xydane’s back in mind, Clover could barely sleep that night. Dear grandpa. In this world, some of the things that break can’t be fixed again. Or perhaps they just need the right circumstances to be fixed. I've noticed that some people can’t be reached, can’t be saved. Not by me. Dear grandpa, I wonder how many failures you’ve had to endure, and how you dealt with each of them. It’s hard to imagine you in such situations, but life is long, and no mornings come without their nights. I hope something good will happen tomorrow. It’s the way most of us live, I guess.

If Andre had been hoping for a reaction, he got it when he broke the girl's invisible barrier to take her hand. Clover blinked and raised her head, eyes open and lips slightly parted. His words merely registered then; she just knew he was being kind, too kind as he always was, with that smile surrounded by some sort of charming magic. Andre was a strange person. One of his kind. Her head followed him when he sat down beside her, her eyes staring at him like they did to Alana some years ago. Andre made himself comfortable against the tree as he offered more nicely coloured words, and all Clover could say this time seemed completely unrelated to the previous topic. Her voice, which still didn't raise much, had a tint of surprise and discovery on it. "Andre, somehow... you are like a prince taken from a tale." The hyur didn’t tend to share her observations about people, mostly because she didn’t consider them important for anyone else. However, Andre was a different case. She’d seen him lost into nature’s beauty, into the music it played for him; it was as if he was living in a different world. He might understand her view, perhaps.

Clover's face remained slightly down, even when her eyes had opened. She didn't look at him, didn't emit any sort of movement, not even when he reached out to remove a small leaf from her hair. The contact, brief as it was, left a soft and tickling feeling on her head. Her grandpa would stroke her hair sometimes; it was something she'd always loved. "I'm sorry." She finally said, still not moving from her position, as if her whole body had become too heavy for her to even try. Regardless of her guilt, Andre's music had lulled her into a relaxed state. "That time, you had to fight for us. You had to experience the pain of steel piercing through your flesh, and the fear of losing everything in a matter of seconds." Her voice was soft and almost toneless, as if she was half asleep. Or perhaps it was the guilt turning her tone into a weak sound. "It must have been painful."

I like the pose, it's very cute, but it killed the chances for Miqo'te females to actually sleep outside the inn ;_; (I wonder how it'll be for female Midlanders). I'd also love the emote for laying down anywhere (not just in beds). It'd be useful in RP, especially if characters are knocked down in combat. Maybe in the future!

My life in Mabinogi:Heroes, until FFXIV rescued me from that game. Overall, I'm happy with the way FFXIV handles end-game content so far, even if farming Garuda with randoms is quite the impossible task.

Family Matters [A Hipparion Tribe Discussion Thread]
Clover replied to Torvhan's topic in RP Discussion
K'nahli and K'mih are staying at the Sagolii desert for the time being, wherever the tribe is located. I'd like them to make another short trip to Ul'dah for the sake of RP, but perhaps they should wait for the search party to come back. -
I'm a PC gamer too. I would never try a MMORPG in any console, and the few single player games I like are even more enjoyable if they're modded. My PC is my life!

("Will you let me listen to your music someday?") The first time, he'd been the brave, blood stained warrior who risked his life to save the caravan during her trip back to Gridania. The second time, he'd been a peaceful, harmless nature lover she found in the forest, near the river. The third time, he would be a gentle bard, a boy whose hands would rather not know of destruction for as long as the tune played. His name was Andre; in Clover's mind, a warrior who knew many kinds of sounds, from the most painful to the most beautiful, being the latter the only ones he seemed to seek and embrace. His music could be heard from the distance, perfectly mixed together with the birds and the flow of water, as if it was a part of nature itself. She walked slowly in direction to the tree by the river, where he'd promised to play his lute. And he did. Clover didn't speak, didn't interrupt him. Couldn't interrupt him. Silently, she simply sat down against the other side of the tree and closed her eyes, losing herself to the soothing melody. It felt like listening to a kind voice, one which wanted to share many stories with her. The sensation didn't last long, however, for her thoughts were interrupted by a pang of guilt. This gentle music... it wasn't the Andre she met in the path to Gridania. It troubled her.

It was raining that sun, so the magic shop remained closed for the time being. Clover and her grandpa were enjoying the sound of the rain from inside, having some of the special tea that she liked so much. “Tell me, Clover,” he asked, smiling as always. “You’re always imagining tales about different people, yet you haven’t written any about yourself. If you were a character from your stories, who would you be?” The girl seemed to take a few seconds to consider this. Her reply, however, was firm, with no doubts slipping through her tone. “I’d be the ghost of a bard.” “A ghost?” She nodded. “That way, I could observe everything without being seen, and then I could write songs about all the things I witnessed.” “Ho ho ho, not bad. So, who would I be?” “You’d be a savior!” This new reply didn’t take a single second to leave her lips, as if she’d known the answer all along. “A savior, uh?” He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Don’t you find it magical enough if I’m still a crazy inventor who owns a shop of wonders?” Clover was left in thought for another small moment, before she nodded to his words. "You're right…” she admitted, and turned her head to her tea. The next bit was said with a small voice and a slight smile. “But you’d still save me.”

This isn't even the only thread they've made like this. I assume they're copy/pasting real posts from other users, perhaps from the official forums, just to add their actual purpose at the end line. Ban. It's not coming fast enough!

Free company leaders meeting (pol to have one or not)

And this is one of the reasons why server split sucks so much. People will miss out many nice things from one side and the other. Hopefully, Balmung will get its own plays as well in due time!

Eager to listen to her sister's lessons, K'mih stood up from the rock she'd been sitting on. For now, she limited herself to watch the other two Miqo'tes, hoping to learn something valuable from them before trying it herself. It wouldn't be the first time she used a bow, but her skills were close to non existent and she feared to perform very badly. ("Try not to shoot your father.") There was a painful twitch in K'mih's stomach at the mention of K'yohko. Confused eyes opened wider, hands traveling up near her chest as she looked in the direction K'ile's arrow was pointing at. Was her father nearby? Could he have heard what shouldn't be pronounced again...? It was then that she started noticing a strange sound accompanied by a growing temblor under their feet. The now feared K'yohko's voice had just registered in her mind when the sands seemed to implode right next to them, making K'mih clumsily fall back onto the ground. "Ah!" For one, two seconds, her eyes remained shut from the fall and the first wave of sand, arms in front of her head to protect herself. Shock filled her features when she finally rose her gaze, just to meet with a monstrous figure towering over them, so enormous to K'mih's perception that she could have sworn that the creature's shadow was covering the sun itself. Traumatic images from her adulthood trial reappeared in her mind, albeit this time she happened to be completely unarmed, unable to have predicted that the daily training would meet such an outcome. "K'ile!" She helplessly shouted when the worm managed to grab the Tia and toss him away with no effort. One of his arrows landed somewhere near her; using the chance that she was already on the ground, K'mih threw herself towards it and grabbed it as fast as possible. Perhaps there wasn't much she could do with such a petite edge, but she wanted to have claws in case of being grabbed as well. Her wide open eyes travelled then around the scene. To K'ile who ran towards the giant worm with surprising and outstanding courage. To the monster which turned its head, furious, towards her father. Her lips parted widely as if they wanted to shout a name, but no voice came out of them. Instead, it was the sound of a deadly arrow impacting inside the monster's throat.

Has a time been finally decided? ^^ Just in case, I'll log in shortly to check and do some RP in the temple.

This would be awesome. I'm hoping to join a Twin Adders group myself, and I sure will respect the player officers as such. Likewise, I'd like to know if other groups are unofficially playing the other companies, just to know who is in charge. Granted, it could happen that someone else might want to RP the high officers in the future as well, but I believe it's better if all the players who have interest in any of the three companies joined the unofficial FC/LS for them. Otherwise, I'll personally apply the rule of first-come, first choice. For a community to work united, players have to compromise.

These things have to happen when my computer is half broken. orz If there's such an event (and if I still have my comp at home at the end of the day), I'll try to install FFXIV again just for this. Unless it happens at a very late hour for me. In any case, it's a very awesome idea, for such an event concerns every character.
