  1. Totally agreed with Freelance here. Sadly this is what happened to me with my character concept. I was very interested in it because it appealed to me greatly, however upon learning that it would be impossible to do I did scrap the entire character mid-way through his storyline. Just the only difference is that I didn't restart because my motivation suffered a crippling blow that I couldn't recover from.
  2. Hmm Crispin Freeman was always my first pick. He is famous for doing the voices of characters such as: Alucard - Hellsing Siegfried - Soul Calibur III Mathias Cronqvist - Castlevania Lament of Innocence Male Wizard - Diablo III Grazel - White Knight Chronicles Kirei Kotomine - Fate/Zero Hideki - Chobits (that one caught me off guard) Fuuma Monou - X/1999 Here is a nice clip of "The Many Voices of Crispin Freeman" to give you an idea. lEjEmpOhU2Q I've toyed with the idea of giving him the voice of George Newbern the guy who voices Sephiroth but I realized Artorias is not the "I hate the world and everyone needs to die" type. I've also considered Simon Templeman the guy who did the voice of Kain from the Legacy of Kain series but again he sounds too dark and too old.
  3. This has been stuck in my head for a while now. Btw I LOVE this show! spUOHX0aRWc
  4. No no, please don't say such horrible things. In all honesty I hope such a thing never comes to pass....ever. I loved my DK class because it was a plated DPS not tank. Besides they already ruined dragoons for me with making horrible lore for them. So I pray to whatever powers are listening that they don't kill the game for me with destroying the last class I'm putting all of my hopes on. There are plenty of other class types that can fill the tank lore, just leave my DK alone. As for the ninja, I will definitely try it out. They might be the favored melee dps for boss fights with the added speed to help dodge attacks.
  5. I'm actually in the same boat at the moment. What I'm doing is taking a break from RP and just doing something different (I'm giving X Rebirth another go) until the need to RP comes back. Sometimes a bit of a break is in order so you can recharge your energies and when you come back all refreshed you will be surprised on what kind of masterpiece you can create.
  6. The answer for me at least is quite simple. I do it or rather I intended to RP a Job class because I was interested in RPing a dragoon and not some second rate lancer. Actually that class/job was the sole reason why I came to play since it is my favorite one in the Final Fantasy games. Unfortunately I found out the lore behind that class was very poorly done.
  7. I myself am playing TESO at the moment. I can't say I've done any RP because honestly I dunno, maybe I'm just burning out from it. Lately I've been feeling a lot of the "been there done that" bug so I haven't been seeking it or trying to start anything. Either way I can say I'm enjoying it so far, but then again I've always loved the series ever since Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. I went Ebonheart Pact though for various reasons, so who knows, one day we might meet on the battlefield. Ingame you can find me playing as the Imperial Arius Draconis and Asavar Heartfang, my Nord soon to be werewolf. ID tag is @Izzoroth:)
  8. aww sure what the hell I joined too.
  9. I totally agree with you Ildur. Squenix really shit the bed on the lore for the classes in this game. That lore may have worked for a single player game, which would be ok, but they totally messed up with the fact that there are going to be many dragoons as opposed to one. In all honesty I can't see myself RPing a dragoon without being able to use the powers they come with, that's like playing a Black Mage who can't cast offensive spells, a Summoner who cannot summon or a White Mage who can't heal. In my opinion that's just plain stupid. I for one am definitely taking your suggestion on this. I have it that my Artorias draws power from a dragon, but it's not Nidhogg. Whoever wrote lore on the classes should be slapped upside the head and fired
  10. heh they are very similar to Jedi in the sense that they have to be mindful of their emotions or fall to the dark side. On the topic of the Azure Dragoon, I'm not sure if he has been given more power than any of the other Dragoons. I always thought that it was just a title and that he was just better skilled than the others. At least that's the way I was portraying it.
  11. I totally just did only because you posted this
  12. I'm interested in this as well, I'd like to toss my dragoon Artorias Rivendare into it. He is not Ishgardian per se, but he is posing as a Lord of a vassal house to hide his Garlean background. Besides, I honestly want to get involved with some knightly order for once. Even if it's made up of exiles and deserters. I'm mostly on at nights let's say 7pm or so. Feel free to fire an invite my way! Or send me a PM here to set up a specific time.
  13. That's no problem at all. For now I'd just like to get anyone who plays a dragoon together so we can keep in touch and discuss all sorts of things related to Dragoons, whether they hail from Ishgard or not. To be honest the linkshell would be open to any nationality/race.
  14. You know, it would be pretty sweet if we started a Dragoon linkshell to get all of the RPers who play the class together. That way we could brainstorm on all different ideas and share lore that we find to help us with our histories/RP/stories. I know there is one for people who play Miqo'tes, so why not create one for Dragoons? It could also possibly turn into an RP group of sorts, like an order of knights that let's say decided to band together because of the inability to enter Ishgard due to their isolation from the rest of Eorzea. I for one wouldn't mind seeing an entire army of dragoons in their traditional armor just show up at a public event one day and make their presence known. I dunno, what do you guys think? Could we use this as a way to keep in touch regardless of where we are in Eorzea? Would you guys give "Ordo Draconis" a go? Possible LS logo below:
  15. Ha! Polar opposite! Nice. Oddly enough, his story is more similiar with Roen's. (What, I have two Garleans who are not really Garleans) I would love to meet other Ishgardians! Not sure if *Rae* would want to meet other Ishgardians. She would despise most of them. But I am keeping a track of characters mentioned here, in case she might know -of- them. Like House Rivendare. ('I thought the last of that house had no heir...') Yup that's no problem, I actually made a bit of lore about them as I made them a Crusader House with a small history of their own. Just let me know and I'll send it to you.
  16. Heh oddly enough my character Artorias is the opposite of yours in some ways. He was a Garlean soldier, but after witnessing the Calamity he lost faith in the Empire because instead of destroying the primals and saving the world(which he truly believed the Empire was doing) they did the opposite. He deserted and took it upon himself to find and destroy Bahamut, even if it costs him his own life. It is his twisted way of atoning for the atrocities he committed when he was with the Legions. His decision to become a Dragoon came from hearing stories that these knights specialized in fighting and destroying dragons so the believes those skills will aid him greatly in his quest. As for becoming a dragoon he ended up being trained by an old Hyur who was the last remaining member of House Rivendare(a minor house of Ishgard, or if there are no minor houses they'd be a vassal house of one of the four major ones.) The old man taught him everything he could about being a dragoon before passing away form a wasting disease caused by his dragon soul. He was also made Lord of the said house with the promise to keep the Rivendare legacy alive as his mentor had no children left alive who shared his bloodline. The thing is Artorias has no real interest in being an Ishgardian, to him gaining the power of a dragoon and title of Lord of House Rivendare is a means to an end, which is to find and destroy Bahamut. If anything he uses his Ishgardian title to hide his Garlean origins.
  17. that sucks, I was really hoping there would be some sort of balance to counter this. I guess this means we're just a vanity class? We look good but that's about it. =/ Well in that case here is hoping that the Dark Knight class will be more promising if it comes out sometime in the future. Not that it will stop me from playing a Dragoon, I still love my RP with him
  18. Hmmm....honestly, I have no idea what to say about Dragoons. I'd say we get better with gear, but then I went and looked you up on the lodestone and you're more geared than I am. I'm still working on my AF+1 stuff and as for raids, I haven't done anything major like coil. I dunno, I too had a feeling that we aren't a popular class but I figured if we weren't meant for PVE/Raids like let's say BRD and BLM I thought Squenix would have made us monsters in PVP to counter that. I will admit I have yet to try it out to see if my hypothesis is true.
  19. @OP there is nothing wrong with your name, half of the time people won't even know if it's from somewhere anyway. I know I didn't recognize it. Either way I too have a name that might or may not be well known but from the RP nobody hassled me about it. Sometimes they would call me Abysswalker (reference to Artorias from Dark Souls) or Baron Rivendare (reference to a character from WoW), but it's all just OOC jokes.
  20. Happy new year from SK, Canada! I hope it's a good one for all of you whether you're partying it up, spending time with family or working!
