I should work on my char background....but ended up just messing with the char creator for a good 4hrs after I got home from work. Which...led me to find a new look I might like better. I already prepped Phae'ra with 3 classes to lvl 20 so he could just head toward monk the moment the game is out, so not sure what to do now....arg why do I do this to myself D:

Yeah, that would be what I was curious about. Since some people seem to be able to do all of the above while never having paid nor played the prev ver of the game.

You can only have one character per world in the Beta unless you're Legacy. Erase any other characters on Balmung and try again. If it still doesn't work, restart the game. Same thing happened to me. Isn;t legacy only for people who played 1.0, I know some people who can make multiple char and never played it before No, if you read the message at the top of the website you will see that is for all characters, new and old. No no, I don't mean Legacy servers being for only Legacy players. I mean the amount of chars you can make restriction he was implying.

Yes, can't log in, its sucks yadyadya. But look at it from another viewpoint, caps will get raised and such, the good thing about this is the amount of interest shown by players. Makes the games future look really promising if a good amount of those players stick around.

Currently spending my time on Aion with a bit of Tera here and there. Uninstalled GW2 the moment FFXIV:ARR started its betas. Tried or retried various other MMOs but those two are the only ones mildly keeping my attention till early release.

I played Drums, Bass and electric guitar between high school and college. Ended up settling on guitar and played small clubs during my college years. Sadly, my Warlock is now collecting dust, I haven't touched it in years.

Phae'ra is supposed to be a agile melee fighter, so Pugilist was the obvious choice for him. If they ever add theif (I expect all the original classic classes to appear at some point), that will probably be his secondary class.

I can't help but respect all you Legacy players for making it through the horrible mess 1.0 was. I sure as hell couldn't, I really wanted to but it was just too painful to play. Even when they decided there would be no cost, I just couldn't. Maybe if I had met the right people at the time it would have been different, but sadly I didn't. But! My love for the Final Fantasy universe is still strong so here I am again, hopefully this time I'll get to meet some of you people. My ranting aside, thanks for sharing a bit of what the game used to be with the new players, knowing how much work has been put into the game since the new team took over helps people appreciate a lot more how the game now looks and feels.

Hello and welcome to RPC! Don't worry if you find it a bit hard to get all the lore right away, you have plenty of time to learn. Besides, learning is part of the fun. A good starting point would be checking the post by Merri here, while it doesn't explain everything about the world, it sure gives you a good resume of everything that happened prior to ARR. That said, if there is anything you are unsure about, be it lore or character ideas, feel free to ask, the community here is quite nice and will be glad to help.

I'm on GMT-4 AND a night time player so I tend to share that worry. I'd deff be interested if people would be around during my play time.

Welcome! As Koninbeor said, the main this is to have fun. There are plenty of people that will welcome new/rusty people back into RP. If you need help with anything, simply ask, myself or many others will be glad to help.

Sounds about right, open world PvP wouldn't be very fitting in a game like this. Besides, this way it can coexist better with PvE and RP without getting in the way of either. Saves people from forced interaction the kind of PvPers that genre brings. PvP subject aside, I do hope there will be quite a few late night players to be found, being someone who works the graveyard shift, that's always been a pain for me in the past.

Well, this convinced me. Phae'ra it is! I needed to fix his look a little so this is as good a time as any to go ahead and do that. Thanks for the helpful links. *Goes off to make Vega style Miqo'ti*

I like the idea of taking an old name and converting it to fit the naming rules, adds an interesting twist to it while still keeping the roots. Luckily my Miqo'te is indeed a keeper of the moon which should make it a bit easier. Phae'ra Nireath doesn't sound bad, would be a rare case though since they hardly get that many sons, but a good start! I will have to look into this further.

I've kinda gotten used to my own handful of names I've been using over the years, but I'm strongly considering doing this...soon as I figure out Miqo'te naming rules better. As for what I think of it, I believe it would be great is the community as a whole decided to go ahead and follow them, would make it easy to recognize each other quickly and add extra flavor to the world. That said, I know some people are attached to names they've used for years and asking them to drop them can be a bit much.
