K'yohko Nuhn is the official RP protagonist.

Liadan MTed me the most steamy stuff I've ever seen. I dare not repeat it here due to its graphic content. For shame, Liadan. For shame. You too? @@ ;;;;

I may be just a dummy, but I am not aware of "handily available IG travel times". Can someone tell me where to look up that information? If there are cannon or widely agreed upon IG travel times then I would gladly go by those. However, I was not aware, so I've been making my best guesses about travel time. I never ICly use airships, nor do I ICly use aetherytes. This is because my character is currently poor, and does not have authorization to use them because she is not a citizen of any city. That said, if a person is wealthy, a powerful wizard or a government authorized diplomat or scholar then I see no reason why they can't ICly use the crystals or airships. Edit: ROFL, Tobias. By that I meant non-rp necessity. Having to travel with neither airships nor teleporting for the entire game would be a massive burden and its only natural that our characters are given such a liberty in-game. I don't believe my(nor my friends') interpretation of travel times to be best for everyone and I wouldn't dare imply so. I was simply asking to find out how many people take serious consideration into in-game distances and travel. Personally, I believe distances to be far greater than they are represented in-game. Its only natural that they would be kept as such, since non-rp'ers normally won't appreciate vast areas of sheer nothingness. I mean, if travel between Gridania and Ul'dah was really only five to ten minutes by Chocobo then just think about how realistically, miniscule that is and how it would affect things in-game from both a lore and logical perspective. Its not as though I am critizing ANYONE who uses such methods, I just wonder if many people are taking (non-RP) in-game privileges for granted and applying it to their characters without much thought. That's only because I am of the same opinion as Naunet, however; that airship travel is HEAVILY limited(city at least, in the case of a personal airship then that seems totally fine).

I noticed a lot of random RP'ers seem to utilize airships and not put much weight on IG travel times and privileges that are handily available to our PCs for typical gaming reasons, whereas people like myself and most in my tribe treat terrain with a lot more significance than it would normally appear. i.e Traveling from Forgotten Springs to Ul'dah takes 2-3 days. Traveling from the dead Goobue in Eastern Thanalan to the Amalj'aa encampment in the same map takes about a day. I was just wondering how most people tend to lean in this regard since I logged in briefly to check on my retainers and heard people in Gridania casually mention about going to Costa, which then reminded me of other times I heard people ICly referencing using airships. Thoughts?

A cocked eyebrow was K'nahli's response to the nuhn's intuitive proposal. Her brow furrowed as she turned to face toward K'yohko, unsure of what to discern from his words. "She needs me?" K'nahli retorted mockingly; her stance displayed no subtlety towards her defensive state. "If my sister needed me then I would not still be standing here to hear you suggest so, nuhn" she scoffed while allowing her arms to fall free by her sides before making her towards K'yohko. The sound of the soft, sun-baked sand displacing underfoot was the only noise that could be heard for the brief moment it took for the young archer to make her way as far as the target of her harsh words. Her maroon eyes locked with her fathers' for a brief moment, her features failing to conceal her agitation while K'yohko's on the other hand, remained emotionless and neutral... as they always had. Her lips parted slightly as though she had something further to say, though as he continued to retain his gaze upon her she soon found herself defeated and instead directed her eyes toward the ground submissively, almost as if they had shared in a sudden, unarranged staring competition. K'nahli could often display her fierce personality and she certainly wasn't one to back down when challenged, though Kyohko, her father; he was one of very few people who could drive her into a state of surrender. It was neither because he was intimidating nor because he could be just as stubborn as her, but rather because: when those magneta eyes peered into hers, it was as though he could see her as she truly was, where she was weak and helpless. The longer she tried try to persevere, the more she would feel as though she had been in the wrong. Vibrant eyes hesitantly turned upon K'ile now as his earlier request returned to mind. He seemed naturally disinterested in her and more affixed upon her father whom he had always displayed some form of envy toward. "Mayhap another day, K'ile..." she finally spoke, watching him for a moment before returning her glance towards the camp and proceeding forward. "I'll inform the rest to come and help salvage the carcass" she added gloomily as she slowly departed the scene, leaving the two men alone to their business.

As to the second letter being added to a clan, that is in referance to a Tia who goes off and founds their own Tribe. They would use the original Tribe letter(but because they did not earn their own branch tribe) They would have to add a second letter to their name to signify the NEW tribe. So if say Y'shtola tia wanted to become a nuhn and didn't want to do the hard work of securing a new hunting ground they could split off with any willing females and start their own tribe. This tribe would then have two letters in front of their name starting with Y and the letter of the new Nuhn's choosing. So, Say Y'shtola really likes the letter U (for whatever odd reason you can think of) they would then pick to have their new tribe be named Yu'xxxxx. However, if the Tia (Y'shtola) does some exemplary work and gains control of a new hunting ground for the Tribe they would be granted Nuhn status and the rights to that land for their own sub-set of the tribe. This would mean that they get to have their own tribe AND get to keep their name as is without adding a second letter. Another important point from the Lore forums is that these new tribes are often very short lived. So while they may stick around for a generation or two, they generally dye off before they can become large enough to continue the new double letter line. (My theory on this is that even if the females do stick around, the low male birth rate may mean that the new Nuhn never has a male heir, and thus the clan dies with them. Or they have one male heir, but that male never has a male child. ) Ohh, I see. Thank you for clarifying that for me.

Might be slightly off-topic, but as a K' named player, how would I go about .. registering(?) myself as being from/previously part of an already formed clan? I've yet to work up the courage to /actually/ RP (I'm such a wuss! ), but I'd like to have some history to work with once I get the ball rolling. There's no process involved ^^ If you'd like I can ask Naunet for you and we can help you work out a story for you to fit into the tribe, unless you have one in mind yourself.
-
We've been treating it as though there can be multiple tribes that can claim themselves as a 'K' clan(or any other for that matter) without having any association to us. After all, there are a number of miqo'te with K in their names that we don't know at all. I also recall a game master or someone saying some that some tribes can even adopt a second letter in the case of sub-clans. For example; Y'shtola could become Ya'shtola or something. I'm not sure what you would be looking for in terms of traits, but we have a set law and sanction system that everyone usually abides by. That and its assumed that most of the tribe is proficient with spears, though not everyone of course. My character favours archery for example, while K'ILE IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS AND ISN'T WORTHY ENOUGH TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH K'THALEN'S BLOODLINE. *cough* Anywho, I'm sure Naunet or Twinflame will come along at some point and tell you everything you'd like to know. We also have a member who kept track of dates and records so that there is a solid timeline for pre-RP events and RP events themselves.
-
Oddly, that never occurred to me but is a very good point. All miqo'te(as far as I am aware) follow conventions despite living and (presumably) having even been born in the cities/towns/villages away from their traditional settlements.
-
Hahahaha. Though I agree with Faye. Many people enjoy being the exception or breaking away from lore and as a result, traditional naming methods in fact become the minority. Thats not to say that anyone not following the conventions were wrong in any way, its just a bit unfortunate that so many avoid it.

K'nahli breathed a soft, sigh of relief as the two men succeeded in subduing the persistent beast. Her ruby eyes rose to glance upon K'yohko, studying him intently as thoughts of appreciation briefly crossed her mind. Her initial reluctance towards jumping in to aid K'ile had been concealed by his valiant efforts at least, and hopefully the tia hadn't noticed. It wasn't long before her expression had quickly grown into something more of discontentment, however. She had not forgotten about the brief conversation she had shared with her younger sister before both men had intruded upon their secluded spot; of course not, how could she? With that in mind, she removed her gaze from her father and instead turned it upon the small and silent form that had seemingly had at some point strayed from behind the protective barrier that her older sister's body had provided. K'nahli's lips parted as if to address her sister. However, she was stopped in her tracks by K'mih herself. ".....!" Before she had the chance to speak, K'mih had nervously spluttered her words of thanks to K'yohko right before excusing herself and speeding off into the distance in the direction of their camp. "K'mih..!" K'nahli called out towards her sister while extending an arm out as if to grab her. Her glimmering eyes revealed nothing short of worry for her fleeting sister, though there seemed to be little point in pursuing her - as would otherwise be her natural reaction. She simply needed to get away from the uncomfortable situation that K'yohko's presence had imparted upon them both. The young archer's hand slowly dropped back down by her side reluctantly. She watched as her sister's small form slowly fleeted further and further from the group while remaining lost in her own world of eternal concern for the pink-haired miqo'te. K'nahli blinked a number of times before turning her focus back on K'yohko; her expression had grown noticeably more agitated as she looked upon his athletic form. She glared at him fiercely, her piercing eyes of deep crimson glowing alight with that rather common, fiery gaze which she was never shy to display when someone had successfully earned her agitation. "I would thank you not to chase your quarry so mindlessly in our direction in the future, K'yohko" the girl spoke sharply as she folded her arms across her chest, running her eyes over his form in distaste before snapping head head away to face off into the distance.

I don't have the quote for this either, but I believe they said that player housing would come out no less than 6 months after 2.1, as they want to see how people handle the FC housing. They've also been toying with the idea of having personal rooms in the FC housing, in one for or another, in a future update/ I'm sorry..... what?

Oh good lord, I am in love with that ERP'ers poetic style of writing. I really felt the emotion and soul-binding passion in his words. It nearly drove me to tears of happiness.

Andre quickly let out a hearty laugh in response. That was certainly the first time he had ever received such a comment but he almost immediately felt he understood why. In hindsight, as natural and insignificant as his gestures had appeared to himself, he realised that he was probably overstepping boundaries that would naturally be determined in the outside world. The realisation was almost enough to further embarrass the hyur. "Ahah, my apologies" he began with a soft chuckle while turning his focus back on the girl. "Would I be correct in assuming that my behaviour seems.. mayhap a little over the top?" he inquired warmly, unsure of how to best word his thoughts. His gaze then turned away to face the river flowing swiftly further downstream where it gracefully met with a placid pool of water which hugged against a beautifully, mossy-green cliff face as he thought a little further on the matter before continuing. "I was brought up in... let us say 'fortunate' circumstances. My family could afford me the more exclusive luxuries in life and as such, I was taught to show quite a degree of etiquette" he explained melancholically before turning to look at the girl once more. "I quickly came to learn that such gestures were not as widely seen in the outside world... though old habits tend not to yield so easily" he added softly with a tender smile while appearing mildly bashful. A small breeze gently caught against his hair, allowing it to sway lightly across the tops of his eyes as a final thought crossed his mind. "A prince is typically a hero-like character, one whom is truly noble and any other would pale in comparison to. Unfortunately, I am not without my faults" he continued after a short pause in a more serious tone as his gaze broke towards the ground for another brief moment of thought before returning to meet with Clover's striking, emerald eyes. His expression suddenly lit up in a moment of inspiration as he chose to use the chance to find out something about the girl, as subtly as he felt he could. "And what about you?" he began, speaking in a casual yet friendly manner. What kind of character from a tale would you compare yourself to?"

Andre recoiled slightly in surprise upon hearing the young girl's guilt-ridden voice. As ever, she appeared almost emotionless as she spoke, though the sudden arrival of such a topic was clue enough that the girl was still thinking upon the matter, perhaps a little too heavily. He turned his head away slightly, scanning the ground around him aimlessly as he relived the events of that day. It was of course, as she said, quite a painful experience to say the least. The aftermath particularly so, once the adrenaline in his blood had thinned out. His hand drew closer to his chest and came to rest atop where he had been wounded at the time, absent-mindedly, as he lingered momentarily, lost within his own thoughts. Thinking upon it now, he was secretly grateful that she had left before that. Being that Clover was still a young and somewhat innocent girl, he'd have blamed himself had she have been exposed to such a sight which would only have led to her finding more reason to feel somehow responsible. After a very brief moment of silence, Andre flicked his gaze back to the girl, trying his best to give a reassuring smile to her even though she had yet to look in his direction. "Such things happen... and I am no stranger to it. You need not find reason to burden your mind with such thoughts" he spoke with a pleasant voice to try and help reinforce his opinion by conveying his own state of mind on the matter. He gingerly reached out towards her again, this time his eyes focused on her hand as he boldly picked it up in his own, gently supporting the tips of her fingers with a light grip. "It was you, Clover, who saved me that day. Truth be told, had I even survived long enough to see another conjurer within the gates I'd certainly not have been in a well enough state to be walking around this day" his gaze remained fixated on her delicate fingers as he spoke solemnly before finally removing them to meet with her enchanting eyes of jade. His grip on her softened as he released his thumb and instead let her fingers merely rest atop his until she would withdraw them on her own whim. "Anyroad... it was more than worth it to make your acquaintance, Clover" he added with a smile as he retracted away from her slightly and lay himself back against the tree. "For a quiet girl you really are an interesting piece of work" he chuckled quietly in brief contemplation of what he had come to learn about the girl, resting his arms behind his head to serve as a cushion as he lay comfortably against the mossy, tree trunk.

That's... rather ridiculous, but admittedly I'd get pretty annoyed if I saw a ton of people abusing a kneel or lying down emote in hindsight. I doubt it would happen but still. Just let people get banned for it then "normal", paying customers will avoid such things in public >.> I assume it has to do with visible imagery that can be shared more easily =/ -
I have a hyur that currently resides in Gridania if you'd care to some occasional, casual encounters ^^/ Hes not the most interesting of people though so I don't know if he could add anything towards a plot for you.

I'm sorry, but Yoshi-P came out himself and said the reason there was no /sleep or /laydown emote at launch because he was worried about players using it "inappropriate" which I think is hilarious with how much adult content there is in the game, from prostitution to talking about getting STD's. I will see if I can find the exact quote for you. What the hell is this about? I've seen a number of people mention it in this thread. People are always going to muck about with animations(I'm thinking of you, t-baggers) but why the emphasis on inappropriate images? Is this something that is abundantly done with this game? I ask because I look out for FF screenshots regularly on tumblr and only once have I ever come across such cases and even then it was someone who linked it to me.
