A Walk In The Shroud or Maybe Not...((Open to All))
K'nahli replied to Keru / E'ir's topic in Town Square (IC)
Andre casually glanced backwards, taking a turn looking over each shoulder, to inspect the source of what he could only assume was a chocobo and possibly it's rider. A large tree and some low-lying shrubbery, however, obscured his view, preventing him from spotting the woman and her frisky mount. He smiled gently, finding humour in the way the female chose to scold her steed before he slowly reached down towards the trickling water with his cupped hands to take one final, relaxing sip of water. Hello, and welcome! I'm sure you will come to love the community here. Everyone has always been very helpful and welcoming, particularly to newcomers. I hope you enjoy the forums and once again, welcome ^^/

On behalf of the Sunseeking, Hipparion Tribe, I highly condemn all thoughts towards coaxing our leader towards running a Moonkeeper tribe in addition to our own. No sharing! Get your own! *hiss* *hissssssss*

K'nahli nodded in response to the Elezen, her gaze still facing off into the dunes as she did so. Her ears twitched minutely and pricked up as she recognised K'mihs voice. She turned to look in her direction only to notice that she was talking to the male miqo'te. K'nahli immediately took a step forward, extending an arm out towards her sister, her mouth opening slightly to call out to K'mih, albeit, no sound made it past her lips. ("Stop it... shes fine, she doesn't need you") she tried to reassure herself but was unable to help but to lament her own thoughts for being something of truth. She threw her head off to the side once again as she looked away sulking, feeling mild contempt for the male that had stolen her attention. Her annoyance was evident through her narrowed eyes, though no-one would have been in a position to see them. She found herself unable to sympathise with the male, as discomforting as his words otherwise sounded. What was wrong with her? Was she cautious? Suspicous? Jealous? She shook her head as she silently tried to dismiss her own thoughts, seeking to distract herself from them by engaging in conversation with the eccentric elezen, the silent female still out of view behind her and almost entirely forgotten at this point. "What village is it that you are seeking out?" K'nahli asked, with her maroon-coloured eyes finally meeting his and peering out through the short tips of her steel blue hair that, almost shyly, dipped across her eyes. "Mayhap I can point you in the right direction..." she added as her gaze drifted slightly upwards towards the dark sky, a heavy indication of how late it had become.

"Interesting", a man spoke with a husky voice as he surveyed the scene below from a crouched posture, resting the weight of his upper body on his knee. His position gave a clear view of the caravan and its occupants below, though was far enough away to ensure that he would not be detected. The gentle evening breeze brushed through his short, greasy, black hair as he continued observing them in another moment's silence, his narrow eyes focusing and analyzing everything carefully. "What is it, Tarquin?" a hooded highlander called out to the man from behind, eyeing him with curiosity as he rested the shaft of his great axe over his shoulder casually. He was accompanied by slightly shorter, red-headed highlander female. She took a couple of steps forward to stand alongside the highlander in silent interest as they both awaited an answer from their leader. Tarquin continued observing the unsuspecting travelers below for a brief moment before smiling wryly to himself and offering a response to his larger comrade. "Easy prey" he answered cockily as he took to his feet and retreated from the cliff face. A look of curiosity crossed the highlander's face as he stepped towards the cliff edge to inspect Tarquin's discovery for himself. His eyes followed the curvature of the cliff face before falling upon the idle target residing in the valley below. He grunted in uncertainty as he studied the scene for a moment before turning to look back at the midlander. "Its just a small caravan though, and the people there are armed. Is it even worth the effort?" the highlander enquired in his naturally rough tone, shifting his gaze to their female associate briefly as if trying to interpret her own impression. She was, however, silent and unreadable as always. Tarquin met his ally's gaze, offering him a confident look. "Worry not, Amadi. You can't see it from this angle but they are, with narry a doubt, carrying cargo" He turned away from his comrades as he adjusted his gauntlets by firmly tightening their laces before rolling his shoulders around in their sockets lazily in attempt to loosen up his joints, tossing his head from one side to the other to stretch his neck muscles simultaneously. "Anyroad, should the cargo 'not be worth the effort' in the end, there are still two females down there that we could sell off for some decent coin". Reaching towards a longsword that had been thrusted firmly into the soft and brittle dirt, he withdrew it cleanly, placing it carefully back into its holster by his left hip. He glanced back over his shoulder to address the two highlanders, his expression turning more serious as he did so. "We'll strike at nightfall" he declared decisively, allowing both highlanders to nod in understanding before he turned to face forward once again, vacating the area with his comrades following closely and obediently behind him.

My character's "nobility" was born solely from family wealth but I never really considered it to be a term linked solely with a distinguished bloodline. His family is simply high class and therefore influential, albeit I don't see this ever making an appearance in my RP unless someone chooses to recognise my families name and say: "Oh, from the xxxxxx family of Ul'dah?" ..or something. I'd like to see people who paid more attention to the political side branding together like you are implying with your linkshell, sharing ideas and perhaps moderating the RP a bit. If it is interesting and everyone can agree that your opinions and actions are influential among the Ul'dahn people and not actually authoritative then I'm sure I can get on board with any ideas you might have, should I ever be in a position that they negatively or positively affect my character. However, I won't rule some form of authority out either, but do share your thoughts ^^
-
Thats a very interesting plot actually if you don't mind me saying ^^

One of my hy'urs plays as the son of a wealthy family so he is considered noble, yes. His father even used his connections and wealth to guarantee him a place among the Sultansworn once he reached the appropriate age and completed sufficient training and time as a simple Immortal Flame. I didn't want to delve too much into the details though so it didn't tamper with any lore or other RP. I figured Ul'dah would have many rich families so it wouldn't be highly rare. He was also set up for a "sort of" arranged marriage with the daughter of another wealthy family, again, someone I didn't go into much information with but might RP at some point. Albeit, that was before he disappeared.

Honestly, this is kind of the impression I get of the different Intermission LSes. How is that? I heard a story about a particular linkshell I am in but I hardly pay attention to the chats enough to know about it myself. (Don't name and shame though, of course).

K'nahli let out a large, dissatisfied-sounding sigh as she finally lowered her guard, allowing her bow to fall down haltingly by her side. "Go-Goo-....Good evening..." she finally spoke, her gaze turned away from the two males as she looked nowhere in particular. A mild flush occupied her youthful face as she returned the greeting, feeling both embarrassment from her actions and simply from the fact that her words served as an admittance of her mistake. Her maroon eyes fell back penitently to the elezen as he remained low on the ground in submission to K'nahli's previous behaviour. She slowly began walking towards him, alien to the fact that her sister, K'mih, had also began walking - in the other direction towards the male miqo'te. She calmly returned her arrow to it's quiver before bringing her bow up and over her head and then slowly pulling it down over herself, allowing it to sit snugly across her body. She extended a hand to the elezen in a gesture of aid as she came to a stop shortly before him. "I'm.... sorry... for pulling a weapon on you" she muttered to the man, still unable to find the nerve to make eye contact with him. Her words were tainted with reluctance and embarrassment as she sought his pardon

As unappealing as it is, I don't think having high standards or being very exclusive is necessarily elitist either so long as you don't look down on other styles of RP and believe them to be worse. It all falls back to taste and elitism to me, is what Cuideag stated - a state of mind and attitude towards something rather than an actual quantity of talent or skill that categorizes you as "superior" to others in that field.
-
I'm confused, are you saying that elitists are simply people who are more knowledgeable and experienced who share and encourage the use of their own concepts? I won't share my view in case I misunderstood but I will say that I don't see anything wrong with people having varying standards of roleplay and people deciding they don't want to interact with certain styles or personalities. There's nothing wrong with that at all. The method of which you use to get this message across on the other hand is a different story. Edit: Fast replies... my opinion is exactly that of Lament's.
-
All of your characters sound very interesting! Unfortunately I get the impression that I would be unable to meet with any of them and your long experience with RP'ing leaves me a little nervous in any case, eheh. Good luck with finding a partner and your stories in general though! I am particularly interested in finding out what will come of Ethne and Maliqa and very curious to see how Elissa's story progresses. I hope you're not totally against forum RP or only do it very rarely >w< I'd love to read them.

A Walk In The Shroud or Maybe Not...((Open to All))
K'nahli replied to Keru / E'ir's topic in Town Square (IC)
The trickling stream glistened magnificently as the sun's rays gently caressed its surface and illuminated the shallow riverbed, revealing numerous, small fish that slowly followed the gentle current as they basked in the penetrating warmth of the day. A gentle, rolling breeze created a sweet and soothing melody as it brushed against the leaves of the forest, added to, only occasionally, by the soft groaning of the tremendous branches from the interlocking canopies overhead. Andre cupped his hands once more as he reached down into the stream from a hunkered position, collecting a small, swirling pool of fresh, river water. He slowly brought his hands up to his face to take a refreshing sip before repeating the process once again only to this time, use the water to moisten and cool his face. He gently massaged his features before slowly lacing both hands together nimbly with his fingers and dragging his still-wet hands through his bleach, blonde hair. "..phew.." he sighed in contentment to himself as he gazed across the body of water, enjoying the beautiful scenery around him. It was another simple walk for him around the Shroud, but he would not soon grow tired of the fantastic sights it had to offer. Turning his glance to the left, he noticed a miqo'te male, seemingly also indulging himself in the beauty of the forest, crouched by the stream a little further up from him. Were he to look Andre's way, he would offer a casual wave as greeting along with a modest nod before returning to his own solitude in the moment. -
"Making Waves" - How to create a little conflict?
K'nahli replied to E'irawen's topic in RP Discussion
There's nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. Just finding people who want to place themselves under his/her influence will be the tricky part, particularly if they aren't friends of yours already or anything. You'd need to elaborate and describe the scenario more clearly so people can get an idea of what they're getting into. -
Knahli's poised stature became more limp and she lowered her bow partially, tilting her head ever so slightly as she analyzed their Elezen guest. Her expression had grown less serious and hinted a look more similar to that of disbelief. His grovelling pleas for mercy were genuine, not a trait one would expect of a bandit or otherwise. Regardless, her arrow remained mostly drawn and bow ready to be aimed towards her next target until she could fully decipher the bizarre situation. K'mihs pacifying words helped soothe her alarmed, older sister somewhat, her delicate touch aiding her sister with lowering her weapon. A voice of reason and assurance that all was, and would be, well. K'nahli had not completely lowered her guard, however, her focus remained fixed on the elezen.. choosing, still, to not formerly acknowledge the approaching, male miqo'te, though keeping him within her peripheral vision. "Pardon me.." a third, unfamiliar voice now called out from her left. K'nahlis eyes widened slightly in disbelief as she exhaled sharply, unsure of what to make of the situation. How is it that these people all happened to stumble upon her and K'mih? The Sagoli is hardly a frequently trafficked area, she was very unused to encounters out here, let alone so many at once. Knahli quickly passed a gaze towards the feminine voice that had politely called out to them, her brow still furrowed in suspicion. As would have been assumed from the placid tone of the woman's voice, she appeared harmless and otherwise alien to the encounter with the two males. It seemed safe to assume that she was in no way associated with them. In spite of K'mih cowering from the newly arrived female, K'nahli nudged her with her body in such a way to direct her towards the woman, all while keeping her bow armed and ready. Keeping K'mih close behind her, K'nahli turned her back completely on the female, slowly taking a number of steps as she reversed towards her, with K'mih still hugging her back, as she pulled the two males into direct sight before her. "My sister and I are returning home. Nothing more. What business would any of you have with us?" Knahli spoke cleanly, addressing the miqo'te at last, her voice still defensive.
-
K'nahli's brow furrowed as she heard the first voice call out to them from the distance. Though the male announced his presence, she was not one to quickly let her guard down. She only wished that she could possess the same trusting and naive nature of her little sister, but her heart would never allow such carelessness for she felt she had everything to lose, and the challenge to defend it could arise at any moment, especially when she least suspected it. It certainly had before. She chose to ignore the voice. Should he genuinely pose no harm then he wouldn't pursue the matter any further than he already had. What business could he possibly have with them? Even were he to be completely harmless she'd rather be rude than caught with her guard lowered, especially with K'mih around. Suddenly however, another voice called out to them, nearer this time. She whipped her head around to her flank to see a large figure quickly approaching them from atop a dune, skidding towards them through the sand as he did so, causing distinct disturbances along previously flawless, wind-carved, sand sculpture. ("What is this?!") she asked herself both anxiously and angrily as her expression turned to one of defiance, quick to take her nimble, bow-wielding posture that had long been second nature to her just as quickly as she drew it out before her. She was cynical in such matters. Everything was suspicious, everything dangerous. To her, the initial call announcing regret for scaring them suddenly appeared to be that of a cocky assailant trying to taunt them with false pleas declaring no harm. And the second? Another arrogant appearance of a larger male, serving as the first encounter before his companions chose to emerge. Was this some form of bandit ambush? Was she naive to assume that no-one else would be out here? K'nahli raised her bow, quickly drawing an arrow back past her cheek as she locked on to the nearer male who had nearly concluded his skidding approach. Her eyes focused on him with intent as her body reacted almost as if it had a mind of its own, ready to deliver certain death to the mysterious visitor. "Not another step further!" she hissed steadily. The aggression in her voice was as clear as the night sky above as she slowly positioned herself more accordingly before her sister, K'mih, offering herself as much cover as possible to any attack that could come from the encounter.
-
"....?!" K'nahli came to an abrupt stop, turning on the spot to investigate the source of the sound. She narrowed her eyes scornfully as she scanned the dark horizon, looking for tell-tale signs of the possible unexpected guest... or guests. (Are we being watched..?) she asked herself silently as she continued to look around, roughly pinpointing the origin of the sound but unable to detect anything while her eyes were still adjusting to the dark. It sounded like a chocobo but she wasn't entirely sure. It'd be unlikely for any aggressors to be this far out into the desert at night, unless they were amalj'aa, but even then it wouldn't explain the chocobo-like sound. "....let us not tarry, K'mih.." K'nahli finally spoke, her tone hinting defensive aggresion as she gripped her sister's hand firmly once more before continuing homeward. K'mih was well-capable of handling herself, but K'nahli had always been over-protective. OOC Note:
-
K'nahli's eyes drifted to the side as if trying to observe her sister for a brief moment without turning her head. "Hm... aren't I just being my usual grumpy self?" K'nahli responded inquisitively. Her voice was casual, though her own words carried an unexpected weight that caused a stinging sensation to radiate out from her chest. She was unsure of what the feeling was, but it was almost as though she had spoken more than she had intended. Her heart began to ache and yet she knew not why it did so. Regardless, she attempted to ignore it. Failing to understand herself was not something she was unused to.
-
K'nahli had remained silent since had they departed from the small, miqo'te gathering, though her hand remained firmly linked with that of her sister's as she towed her along through the silent, sea of sand as if holding on to a cluster of small, felled game. The twinkling sky above dimly illuminated the landscapea round them, providing just enough light for them to navigate their way home until their sunseeker eyes would adapt better to the darkness. "K'nahli..." Her sister's voice called out to her from behind. Up until now she had been absentmindedly hauling her home along with her without even thinking to release her grip. K'nahli blinked twice before turning her glance over her shoulder to look towards her sister. Her expression was one of innocence and concern. Perhaps that was to be expected, her brief departure and forceful kidnapping of K'mih would naturally give cause for concern. "S-sorry..." K'nahli spoke silently, her voice somewhat hoarse. She withdrew her hand carefully as she turned to face forward once more, continuing pacing ahead to lead the way home. "Did I hurt you?" she asked softly. Her question was genuine, though she felt that that was not the reason her sister had called out to her.

My puppies(not literally, but I call them that sometimes n.n)! Female golden retriever and a male cocker spaniel ~
-
K'nahli's eyes widened in disbelief, though her expression would likely have gone completely unnoticed by the others as she remained seated by the railing, head lowered towards the gritty floor and concealed slightly by her fringe. She drew in a deep breath as she attempted to control her irritation that began festering within her once again like a bubbling cauldron no sooner than it had subsided. "Did....-" K'nahli began to speak, lifting her head upwards to face K'ailias innocent expression of contentment before halting herself, deciding against continuing with her sentence. Briefly pressing her fingers against her temple, she paused for a moment before slipping an insincere giggle as she hopped to her feet and briskly made her way towards her younger sister, K'mih. "It sounds perfect, sister. I'm glad we could meet at an agreement" K'nahli spoke in a joyous tone as she addressed K'ailia while grabbing K'mih's hand firmly in her own. "Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to the camp so I can nap for a moon or two" she continued, while leading her younger sister away hastily as if taking her against her will. "Do not tarry much longer, sisters. The sands continue to shift and I will not be coming back out looking for you should you lose your way in the night" she announced cutely back towards the remaining miqo'te, K'nahli's way of offering departing words for the evening.

Nono, I wasn't referencing anything at all. It just occurred to me and I wanted to ask ahead of time just in case ^^
-
If no-one minds by the way, could any possible garlean/story-related spoilers be kept in the appropriate tags? I, among others I am sure, have yet to complete the main storyline ^^" I only ask should people have an idea that involves content that hasn't been experienced by the rest of us and decides to share it here.

Opinions on the V.O. for This Game
K'nahli replied to Tobias Nightbringer's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Haha, unfortunately I am very bad at describing things(*indirectly scares away all potential RP meetings with this declaration*). I don't mean to say that every dialogue piece should make me go; "Wooow! This acting is amazing!" Not at all ;; Rather I mean pretty much what you said. I need the acting to sound believable and true to the character they are portraying so that I can take it even remotely seriously. I can't comment on those other voices you mentioned since I haven't heard them but to reflect on the one thing that comes to mind when I think about the 'tone' of the voice, then it'd be in that same cutscene. Minfillia meets you for the first time. She was enthusiastic about meeting you and came off as very friendly in the written dialogue, whereas I don't feel the English VA did that justice at all. She just sounded.. plain really. In any case, its down to taste as you say and I just rarely find myself supporting English VAs in these types of games. (And Theo, you made a very valid point I think ^^)
