  1. ((Courtesy of FF14News.com)) update 1: The 30FPS cap has been lifted. People are reporting getting 75FPS in game. Beta phase 3 is about to begin. Reports of the betas changes should start coming in from testers over the coming hours. But first Square Enix has released some more details about what has changed in this new phase of the beta. Check it out after the break. One quick note before diving into the version update details. The FFXIV Configuration Utility (old one here) has been updated to include a few more options. One of the notable changes is the addition of Gamepad configuration for Macro (ALT) and (CTRL), so it sounds like weâll have a macro system similar to FFXI. [Event-related] "Linkshells" have been added. Linkshells are community groups that can be created by any player using an item also known as a linkshell, which can be purchased from the NPC A'shakkal at the Drowning Wench, the Adventurers' Guild in Limsa Lominsa. When you have equipped a linkpearl (the communication device created by a linkshell), the corresponding linkshell crest will be displayed beside your display name. The following adjustments and additions have been made to the guildleve system: * New regional guildleves have been added. * Adjustments have been made to the difficulty level and rewards for regional levequests. * The amount of skill points that characters gain through levequests will be far more than what they gain through attacking monsters on the field. * Local levequests have been reinstated. * With the reinstatement of local levequests, the NPC T'mokkri has returned to her post at the Drowning Wench. * New local guildleves have been added. * Players will now obtain "guild marks" upon a successful completion of a levequest. * Each class will receive guild marks corresponding to their class. This currency can then be traded to a specific NPCs for various types of rewards. * The amount of guild marks players currently possess can be verified via the "Currency" option located within the Inventory menu. * A message and sound effect will now play upon a successful completion of a quest. A section for completed quests has been added to the Journal. The cast timer for Return and Teleport has been removed. Players will now be immediately teleported once they select their destination. The countdown timer for logging out has been removed. Players will now log out immediately once they select the "Log Out" option. [battle-related] The following classes have been added: * Disciple of the Land - Fisher * Disciple of the Hand - Armorer, Goldsmith, Alchemist, and Culinarian The following changes have been made to the how characters toggle between Passive / Active modes: * Characters will automatically toggle to Active mode if they attack an enemy while in Passive mode * Characters will automatically toggle to Passive mode if they speak to an NPC while in Active mode New abilities and spells have been added. Players will be able to select either a single target or an area effect when casting certain spells. An animation effect will now be displayed when a character's physical level increases. Changes have been made to the attack animations and the animation effect for when an attack successfully lands on a character. The KO penalty has been decreased from 5 minutes to 3 minutes. [item-related] The following additions have been made to the synthesis system: * New abilities have been added. * New recipes have been added. The following changes and additions have been made to the gathering system: * The fisher class will be able to use the actions "Fish" and "Spearfish." * New abilities have been added. * New gathering points have been added and locations of existing gathering points have been adjusted. * New pieces of equipment have been added. Various new items have been added. The goods stocked by vendor NPCs have been adjusted. [system-related] New options have been added to the character creation process. The main menu can now be opened by clicking on the system menu icon. Page scrolling has been added to the Inventory menu. Additional icons that represent moon phases and the weather have been added to the server latency widget. Certain NPCs have been given a unique chat window. The following changes and additions have been made to the party recruitment system: * Players will be able to join a party without changing classes, as long as they meet the recruitment conditions. * Players will be able to send party invites to a player in another area, as long as they are in the same region. The following changes and additions have been made to the map feature: * The scrolling speed of the map has been improved. * "Eorzea" has been added to the map list. "Macros" has been added to the Configuration sub-menu. With macros, players will be able to execute multiple actions with one command. Text commands have been added. Entering a text command starting with the "/" key allows players to change equipment, use abilities, and perform other various actions. During the Beta Test, "/action" will execute the specified action, "/equipaction" will equip the action in the specified slot, and "/equip" will equip the item in the specified gear slot. The auto-translate feature has been added. Players can utilize this feature by pushing the Tab key while in chat mode. The tool will automatically complete a partially input word, as well as translate the word to the language indicated in the viewing playerâs language settings. The chat modes "/linkshell" and "/echo" has been added. * Any message input in the linkshelll chat mode can be seen only by a linkshell member. * Any message input in the echo chat mode can be seen only by the player entering the command. Players will now be able to switch their default chat mode. Players can switch their chat mode by entering the text command "/chatmode," followed by the corresponding chat mode. Certain changes have been made to keyboard and mouse controls.
  2. EDIT: Added character names next to the chapter titles on Ch. 1-9. If I couldn't find a character name in any of the posts for the member, I just left it as is. When a new thread is started in the Town Square, if you could OOC'ly list the characters you're going to be RP'ing with in the first post, that'd be really helpful to me in making this list as accurate as possible. Even if you don't know ahead of time who you are going to RP, you can always edit the first post later. Not necessary though, just a request on my behalf. Please let me know if any of the character names listed are in error.
  3. Looks good. Nice work brotha'! ^.^-b
  4. Go go PS3! I need more friends on PS Home to hang out with
  5. I've already tried to add you in the past you loon! I'm Trizzip on Skype
  6. Then why haven't you added me yet I have Skype on my phone so that I can talk to some of my friends without burning minutes up.
  7. ((Below is a list of every character involved in a Town Square RP thread. Chapters are in order by date of creation, with the first chapter being the oldest thread and the last chapter being the most recent. Chapters count down in the list, so most recent threads are at top below each character name. If the character started the thread, this is noted by the Chapter being shown in BOLD. Characters are in order alphabetically. I am planning to add more content in the future, such as denoting the actual character RP'd on each chapter, as I realize that some individuals RP more than one character in FFXIV. If you find any discrepancies, please let me know via a seperate thread in the appropriate section of the forums, that way I don't have different people PM'ing me the same error. I hope this helps the community in easier access when it comes to your interest in the background of a particular character that you enjoy reading about.)) 8. Post your Skype name here if you so desire to. ^.^ ((ORIGINAL POST: Now that I have my new comp. at my house, I'm finally able to partake in voice chat with old and new friends alike. I know some online gamers aren't really down for the whole 'get to know you IRL' thing, but I love it. I love making new friends and getting to know each of them more and more. So.....I'd think it'd be pretty bombastic if the RPC had an official voice chat prog. set up (TS, Vent, Skype, etc.). I know some have preferances for various voice chat progs, but I don't really care either way. Whatever the general population decides to use for voice chat, that's what I'll use. Thoughts? Opinions? Feedback? :?))
  9. lol, well if my ex hadn't caused me to be so tight with money I'd just get the PC version then get the PS3 version when it came out. Unfortunatly, while I'm paying a mortgage all on my lonesome, I have no money left over for such pleasentries.
  10. I've played XI both on PC and on PS2....overall I enjoyed my PS2 experiance much better. So, seeing how I am primarly a console gamer anyway, I'll be waiting for the PS3 release. Not an easy thing to do, but patience is a virtue.
  11. I love RP romances (as long as they come about naturally and organically without being forced). I do very well at keeping a very strict wall betweeen my IC and OOC life. I look at RP'ing in MMOs as being an actor in theater. When I am IC, I am all the way in and act accordingly to how my character would act. The only thing I plan out for my character is his or her backstory, after that.....I just go with the flow. This is how I am able to do RP romances. In FFXI, my character fell in love with a mithra. IRL the mithra was controlled by a guy (however, there are many times in theater where a man will play the role of a woman, so I have no issue with this) IRL when it comes to my sexuality, I am straight as an arrow, however, when I RP'd, I didn't see a guy playing a mithra, it was just my character interacting organically with this mithra. We even went as far as getting married and having a child together. Now, when it comes to the intimate part of the relationship, I keep it on the same level that you would see in a theater. I don't care for getting all into the whole nasty gritty and overly descriptive part of doing the deed (really no need for it). Instead, I like to keep things to a more 'romantic' level and settle for the ocassional kisses and hugs. None of these things we planned out in OOC either. Like I said, the only thing I plan OOC is the backstory of my character. After that, I do not plan for my character to do anything. He or she will act accordingly how the character is expected to act based on the foundation that I have created for him or her. I hate planning RP out in OOC....it kills the fun and suprises. I'm not here to run the story, I want the story to run me....in a sense, I guess.
  12. awww...that's too bad Kefka was my fav antagonist in any FF. Although, I am a sort of FF6 fanboy, so meh....whatever
  13. lol, I'm gonna have to use that for future referance, that is outstanding! I'd say a combination of both of ya'll's post. Mentally broken with mommy issues. I actually felt bad for what he went through and would have liked to have seen some peace of mind go his way to calm his soul. The true antangonist IMO was Jenovoa....but even 'it' wasn't what I would consider evil. The alien was just doing what it was created to do I'm sure. When I eat cows, birds, pigs, and other various animals, I don't consider what I'm doing evil. I'm just doing what I was created to do. Eat meat!

    My Art

I am a sucker for dragons, hence, I am in LOVE with your artwork. It is magnificant! Keep up the great work....I look forward to seeing more. ^.^
  15. Meh....a human being is a subjective creature by nature. Whether we like it or not, we all see the world through different eyes. Hence, it is impossible (in my opinion) to have an objective view on morality. Morality itself is in the eyes of the beholder. If it wasn't, all philosophers would be on the same page instead of having constant discussions since the beginning of time on what is right and what is wrong. There are no facts when it comes to ethics (like 2+2=4), it all just feelings and usually a lot more complicated then you think. The only good thing from arguing ethical behavior is that you can learn something new from the perspective of another. However, if you argue for the sake that "you're wrong and I'm right" sort of attitude, then it's kind of a waste of time. Good and evil is an interpretation, not by a society, but by an individual. At least, in a society such as ours which is not interdependent. We have strayed from the 'community' type role and (in my opinion) most americans seem to prefer an independent state of mind with his/her own view points on the world. Where in other countries, interdependence sort of dictates an overall (this is how you should act) type society. I don't think someone is evil, good, selfish, selfless, vain, pitiful, great, etc. based on what society dictates. I do so based on my own interpretation. A lot of folks get angry at me cause they can't stand that I disagree with them when they have that (2+2=4) mindset. I just tell 'em that they probably shouldn't waste their emotional energy in trying to change me, because I am who I am and if I want to interpret something in my own way, there is nothing anyone can do to stop. For the record, I never considered Sephiroth to be evil. There world isn't black and white.
  16. Not only that, but also having the day and night move at the same time that GMT does. One thing that annoyed me in-game was that many NPCs would make referances to past events that happened 'x'-amount of years ago. Since they always said the same amount of time had passed, as far the NPCs were concerned, time didn't even move forward at all. All in all, the whole concept of time in FFXI is a joke. But oh well.....everything can't be perfect.
  17. Yea, I'm a huge fan of the 'End of the World' guys. I had wished they would do more FFXI episodes. That stuff was gold.
  18. A note off the beta forums by Nobuaki Komoto.
  19. I decent deal of griefing went on in Quetz in XI. It was never a big deal to me, as I don't care how folks percieve me. I enjoy RP'ing and nobody is going to take that joy away from me. Plus, if it ever got too bad, I'd just '/blist' the player. Although, most RP'ers on Quetz just stuck to RP'ing only in /party chat and refused to RP in /say. Didn't bother me, although when I was out on my own, I'd still go ahead and RP in /say just to see if there would be any unknown RP'er who would get interested and join in.
  20. May you have a Merry Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary!
  21. Yar....I remember that fella'. Good guy
