  1. Eventually to become my main, I didn't think I'd actually like Au Ra as much as I did. Quite happy with how unique I was able to make him... cause who even likes Green? =|
  2. I got a loading screen, then the game quit due to lobby error, and now I can't find the NA / EU servers... Damn it Square! I had it perfectly planned! I was getting my full Darklight Set tonight and you ruuuuined it!
  3. Oh pfft you livestreamed it?! I wish I was paying more attention rather than sleeping sometimes... EITHER WAY. OTL This is sooo great~ I love his eyes, could get lost in those oceans forever. (I totally describe them as 'oceans of saphire' because I'm pompous like that.) SPANKS FOX  I'm smacking it on my Wiki... I should probably write that too... Huh.
  4. Hrnnngh -Switches to Red Chakra- I CAN DO THIS. But yeah, chucking rocks at things even with Cleric stance is horribly tedious and takes ages. And Dots might actually be perfect if I can just insta cast all over like 5 things and watch them die. Considering I'm looking for this purely to farm mobs, as I don't have any intention of using it in raids unless, of course they need me to. (Who am I kidding I'll be RPing.) SO I think Summoner might be perfect... Minus the tacky outfit. -Huffs-
  5. Question. I play a healer but recently I've been wanting to start as a DPS because I want it to be easier to farm mob drops for crafting. Now, I'm leaning towards Summoner because I'm sitting on high level Conj and a level 15 Arcanist. Essentially I'm lazy! SO DPSers, I was wondering how Summoner's damage was. And is it worth it to level it, or should I start from scratch with something like a Lancer?
  6. Ecch, I'm not a fan of RPing in cities at all, let alone the smack dead middle of the adventurer's guild. Where everyone plonks down to craft by leve masters and spams your chat with goldsellers and sounds and sparkles and 'synth' status. Not to mention everyone turning in story quests or starting new characters. I'd suggest moving to one of the side starting towns outside the cities.. As we learned already, the Bobbing Cork in Fallgourd Float in the North Shroud where the Gala was held is quite an awesome spot. It's rather dead, save the occasional quest turn in. There's an Aetheryte for easy access. It's within walking distance of Gridania, so even a level 1 could get there easily. Alternatively you could go for the other places, such as Hawthorne, and Black Brush. Though, both of those are usually quite bustling. Moraby Drydocks is usually quite deserted. Camp Bronze Lake is probably one of my favourite spots, because it's pretty much a hotspring with tables and chairs and a completely vacated bar. But that's in the level 30s so it's a bit more difficult to make THAT a hub. Long story short. My vote is with Fallgourd Float.
  7. Yeah don't worry about it. It's free after all! Why would we badger you for stuff you intended to make on the side anyways. =P Take your tiiime, don't worry about us.
  8. you CAN discard them. I accidentally grab the wrong one at the start(just went down the list too fast clicking buy) and all I had to do was right click discard and it went poof. Reeeeally? I wasn't able to at all. It was greyed out, completely unclickable. I wonder why~
  9. For all those wanting to get rid of these things if you bought the wrong one or something. You may not be able to discard them, or sell or trade. HOWEVER! THERE IS HOPE! Enter the Inn at one of the three adventuring guilds and put it into the Armoire! That thing only accepts a few random items such as seasonal stuff, and it -DOES- take the swim gear~ This will unclog your inventories!
  10. Alllll of this. I'm certainly more focused on crafting right now than I am on RPing... I suspect I'll probably wind up maxing all the crafts to 50 before I start actively -searching- for RP. But, I'll never turn it down if it crops up!
  11. This. I am 100% with this! I personally haven't found any abuse or hate or trolling at all on Balmung. In fact, I was RPing a rather mushy gooey 'D'aw dats adorable' scene on a rock in the North Shroud. And some guy actually whispered me, cause he was leveling Botany, and was within range of our emotes and pretty much said. "That was an extremely sweet read, thank you for making this so much better." My experiences are obviously not like everyone elses, but if we smack a 'RP' server label on Balmung / Gilgamesh. I just view it as more of a target for trolls. Our community is -massive- as we've seen with the Gala, and I'm sure there's a bunch more that couldn't make it, or didn't even know! We don't need a label, because we've established a footing and gotten comfy here already. In personal opinion, if they opened up new server, specifically for RP. I wouldn't move at all. I'd keep my butt firmly cemented to Balmung, we've spent months prior to launch tip toeing around the server subject. My feet are in the water. I ain't moving!
  12. I'd certainly be willing to RP with you C'vah~ It's quite possible Koyu was part of your original Tribe. He was originally part of the Coeurl tribe, but he was kicked out and stripped of the name. BUT As onto the topic of 'can't find RP' it's extremely true. Most of the RP I've done has been between a select handful of people and we usually keep it to party chat (Mainly because I'm too busy weaving to move.) Occasionally we fan out, but we often try to go off the beaten track. It's extremely rare for me to RP in Major Cities, namely because I don't enjoy spamming other people's chat who might not even know what RP is! POINT IN FACT; Walk up RP is extremely hard to come by right now, so I'd suggest making friends, or slapping yourself in Linkshells! And this thread is a step in the right direction! ...But yeah I'm Koyu Tia. Poke me if you're bored~ :sleepy:
  13. Runs to the hills before the debate of sexualization in video games erupts. In seriousness, I'm not really one to talk considering I'm a man, and of all things my sexuality is astronomically unfitting to even talk on it. However, the way I usually view it is from a lore perspective. It's true it could just be fan service, in fact it's most likely it is! But in this 'world' and 'time period' I guess it's just part of their society. To my understanding, Miqo'te tribes are few and far between, so the ones who live in cities, maaybe are shunned by race? And are left to the streets and stuff. I think it's based on the idea that Miqo'te as a race aren't as publicly accepted as the rest, and they've been denied employment and such. Of course I have absolutely nooo idea and haven't really read lore to support that. That's just what I assume.
  14. Frankly, I don't see the issue with this at all. If we're going to get into that whole debacle. MOST people 'get their rocks off' constantly, females and males alike do it, if they want to do it by immersing themselves in a fantasy scenario. More power to them in my opinion. Of course, keep it out of public chat, but that's pretty standard. I usually keep even just kissing and such in private chats, because I don't enjoy being stared down at.
  15. QUICK, EVERYONE SHUN THE ERPER- Wait what's that you say?! Most of the entire roleplay community secretly has a underbelly life, where most people secretly ERP but are too ashamed to admit it?! Nonsense! On a serious note, Romantic RP is pretty much all I do. Usually I keep it private, because I've never enjoyed having to watch other people swap spit in front of me. So I'm not going to make people read my snuggling and kissy lovey dovey emotes either. I've often found myself just keeping everything to party chat, even if it's nothing even remotely 'naughty', just because it gives us the flexibility we want without having to worry about upsetting other people. BUT YEAH, I'm totally the "Puppy Love" one. I have a knack and love for making everything stupidly adorable. Very nice article~
  16. I'm a one trick pony! I've been a healer for yeaars across many MMOs. Played a Holy Priest in WoW, I even said "Screw you Anet" to GW2 and rolled a Water Elementalist and was the closest thing to a healer, even though they insisted on not having slots like that. But yes, I play a White Mage, I leveled Arcanist to 15 specifically to unlock WHM and never touched it again, nor will I ever. Nor, do I roll alts. SO, WHM to max, that's it.
  17. You can open your social tab and click to where you'd see the party roster, there you can click on your own character name and it will say "View Search Info" and the other option is "Edit Search Info" Smack whatever you want in there, and when people click on your name and view your info it'll show up. However I'm not sure if it shows up when you 'examine' someone. So you can just put "Looking for RP" in there, or smack like "Cutest Roleplayer ever, obviously" (That last one is totally not mine at all. Nope.)
  18. Wait, I'm lost. Wasn't a maintenance going to take place today for many hours? @_@ Or has it been done already and I completely misunderstood? I'll be very happy if servers are finally working! It's been finished. It started 9 hours ago, it was supposed to be done in 10minutes but they finished about 30minutes early.
  19. I didn't want to post a new thread, cause I'm awkward like that, buuuuuut. There's a 1027mb patch that was released about an hour ago. So people MIGHT wana go download that if you plan on staying up for the maintenance to end! ...Also this is the 666th post in this thread, and it's about a patch. ...Half life 3 Confirmed
  20. Hey-o~ Welcome to the RPC and Roleplaying in general, the lore is pretty simple to pick up. In most MMOs it's not very relevant in RP besides your connection to things, such as the Aether, or the Gods. Getting super deep into the lore will more or less sate your own tastes for story, but I don't see it as -too- relevant. I haven't run into any more thumps in my time RPing. Onto the questions! 1) Completely up to you from a personal standpoint. Due to ARR's character models and base gear, I'd say it's perfectly possible to jump right in because you already look awesome enough to do it! But I'm extremely fashion orientated, I worry about my clothes more than my level. Not that I want the prettiest dress or the shinest armor, I simply want something that reflects my character. If you wish to jump in at level 1, you totally can. It's up to you weather you want to go out and find the perfect outfit first or not. 2) Background are completely up to you. Most people don't judge on backstories, and some people don't flesh them out at all. They prefer to grow the character 'organically' which means they develop things through roleplay itself, or maybe make something up on the spot with their history. The fact that you have such a fleshed out history is impressive! It's completely average to have that level of depth, a simple backstory as to how he got to where he is now. Some people go into detail, past friends, branching out into the personalities and qualities of their deceased relaitives, etc etc. -All- of that is totally up to you, and if you want a place to flesh it out and write it all down. You could make a wiki page on the website about your character! 3) Again, you can jump in instantly after the tutorial, or you can wait it out. It's perfectly accepted to jump in, just as it is perfectly acceptable to not touch RP till max level. Personally I don't public RP at all till I'm max level, just because I enjoy playing the actual game way too much, and I want to look pretty, but again. Completely subjective! 4) Both styles are completely fine and accepted, usually they alter depending on circumstance. For exmaple if you're in a populated area you might want to stick to /say and just regular emotes such as /grin. Simply because it causes less clog and the RP can roll faster. However, most people view the other way as bog standard, the majority of RPers in my personal experience and personal use, lean towards emoting in as much detail as possible, some going as far to post paragraphs of detail for simple actions. - Adding the layers of detail make the picture more painted in your mind, in my opinion. So, I'd personally say lean towards detailed custom emotes. (For a side note you can type '/em' and it will start an emote, so you can write out your action.) 5) Again this is up to you, but my opinion would be on the lower scale. I try to avoid them as much as possible. Even if the animations are fun to watch, usually they don't display what I'm trying to get off, and on top of that each one fills up a line in your chat box. Using them constantly would start to flood your chat. However, if you enjoy using the animations and such I say the more power to you! 6) Usually you simply walk up and start roleplaying. I've never been asked OOCly if it's okay, nor have I asked permission... If it's obvious they're roleplaying at the moment then I'd assume they wouldn't mind getting some roleplay, right? So I'd say walk up and initiate conversation, as you would in real life. Are you going to lean over, whisper in the hot guy's ear and say "Hey... Want to talk?" or are you going to just talk to him?.... Okay if you're super nervous about it I supoo- LOOK. You can walk up, RPers don't bite! Annnd if you don't know what to say, just try to think of the reason you want to talk to them in the first place. If worst comes to worst, walk up, tug up your belt and say "I am bored. I wish to chit chat, would you indulge me?" Hope these helped, Good luck getting on one of the servers!
  21. I'm a Narcolep... wana be sleepless buddies?! - Er, that came out wrong... Anyways, welcome to the RPC! I see you've played a plethora of MMOs, and have copious amounts of RP experience. Not to mention your views on the whole 'light to heavy' ordeal pretty much mirrors most of ours. I mean, I RP to meet new people! Course I want to chit chat OOCly, but sometimes I wind up RPing for a day straight and wonder what happened to the sun. ...Anime as a hobbie? Oh yeah, you'll fit in perfectly!
  22. Brayflox is level 32, and your main story quest will take you there, as it did with most of the other dungeons. And transfering from WHM to CNJ only gives you one extra ability, so there isn't some drastic change between the two! But to actually get your job you have to fulfill the class prerequisties (15 Arcanist / 30 Conjurer for WHM) and then the quest for it will pop up in your class guild (WHM one being the Conjurer's guild.) But yea, you get jobs completely seperately from the storyline, you just need to get your classes to the right levels to get the quest. However, jobs don't seem to really do much right off the bat, the only thing it changed for me, I believe was a base stats boost and the addition of the WHM spell "Presence of Mind" Which is an activated cooldown which increases cast speed for a short time. As for yooou Ms.Clover. It depends on playstyle. Personally I usually heal everyone individually with a cure to save mana, unless I -know- there's another AoE coming soon that could actually kill the DPS. Because they shouldn't be taking damage anyways! But that's just me.
  23. ...I like you, you can stay. And on the Medica debate, I personally -rarely- use it. I rarely enough AoE damage unless everyone stands in the giant red circle to excuse it's mana cost. Medica costs an arm and a leg, I would only use it in an emergency. ...However, that is also the appeal of it, isn't it! It was very useful during the Brayflox final boss fight where everyone stands in the goo.
