This KINDA turned into a rant. I APOLOGIZE. - BE WARNED, HIGHLY OPINIONATED. Dun yell at me. 1. Ranges from person to person, but normally in public RP it's kept to Say and emotes (/em), which allows other people to join in. However if the location is suuper crowded, be it with other RPers or just random people, some people go into party chat, or tells (If it's 1 on 1). Again, it ranges from person to person. I for one, try to keep most, if not -all- my RP to Say and Emote, due to the aspect of having other people join in. 2. Usually Custom emotes are used to depict an action, and most RPers draw it out with flowery words (More description = Paints a prettier picture). As for thoughts, it depends on RP style really. Personal preference and what not. Some people will say their thoughts, while others (Myself included) hold back on the thoughts, because the other person can't read minds! However, sometimes people incorperate thoughts into action. For example: "Koyu's eyes lull and glance elsewhere, oozing with his express lack of interest in the topic at hand." - The thought is incorperated with the action. Yet it's not like saying; "Koyu eyes the nearby plant. Oh how he hates plants, so so much." - The emote itself never actually says he even remotely looks like he hates plants. To the other person, he's just staring at it. LONG STORY SHORT: Ranges from person to person, but usually emotes are used to express actions with looong winded descriptions. Emotes drag on for paragraphs sometimes. 3. Again, depends on the RPer. Some people (Meee) use emotes nearly for everything, because it allows you the freedom of movement and action, adding more 'life' to the character. RP is about painting a picture with words, if I walk up and say "Hey.. Nice to see you again." - Well dats dat, but you can take it so much further and add so many layers of action with emotes. Example; (I'll make it short I promise) "Koyu elevates a palm to gently rest upon the crux of his shoulder. Rolling it within the confines of it's socket before tilting his skull off to a minute angle. Tossing a lethargic brow skywards. "Hey.... Nice to see you again." SEE WHAT YOU CAN CREATE?! OH IT'S GLORIO- Moving on. 4. Once more, depends on the person. Usually people who are part of Free Companies and Linkshells stick to formulated, and planned meetings and events. However, during the free time between them they'll ring up their friends and meet and 'freestyle' if you will. People without those connections, tend to constantly freestyle. Wandering around the areas and cities, searching for the bait to grab at the end of the hook so they can 'freestyle' RP, sometimes with people they've never seen or met! 5. Random walk ups! Walk around and search for those RPers. Or, if you're too shy (I know them feels) wait until you see an event. I know Gilgamesh is having an event.. Tomorrow I think? In Gridania, and on the 31st there's a big event on Balmung! And events are great for meeting new people and making those connections for more RP. And once you start making connections, all it takes is to seek out those people and hunt them down. 6. BLAND, but probably sweet the most. AGAIN, Apologies for the ranting and highly opinionated synopsis!

Ironically, I got kicked out of the game, and am now facing the infamous Error 3102 (Aka, Character is already logged in) when trying to transition towards a zone, because I was intent on hunting down, and screenshotting Felix. YOU WIN THIS DAY SIR. YOU WIN THIS DAY.

This is the first server issue I've had so far. I WAS HOPING FOR A CLEAN RUN OF UNHINDERED FUN. Now I must suffer with the masses for my insolence. ...I bet you it's revenge for taking up a character spot when all I did was sit on a fence.

Sadly yeah, yeah it is. Sometimes the NA / EU servers won't load. I usually just exit the entire client and reboot it and keep doing that till they show up. Unfortunately I just got kicked out during a zone change loading screen, and I can't log back in due to 'already being logged in'. CURSE YOU BETA SERVER ISSUES! Square is trying to give me more excuses to sleep, I swear.

Do you have an account with an activated beta thingy in it? If you already got the email with the beta code and stuff, and made your account then all you have to do is go into the forums and download the client and you're golden. If you haven't gotten the invite to the beta then you'll have to wait till you get that invite unfortunately... Least I think that's how it works.

Sorry! I was reffering to the people in specific who harassed the OP. As I said waay up dere^ I have no idea what the 4chan or Reddit communities are like, I've never interacted with either of them. To average idiot #3, aka me; Reputation is all we have to go off of. Weeeell, Koyu is the exact opposite of being a part of the 'C' tribe. He got kicked out of it! Essentially, he's got Narcolepsy and couldn't actually finish anything useful, failing his hunt, thus they sent him out. SO, I won't be part of the niche, but you're free to pick on him if you see him!

People here have astronomically differing backgrounds and interests, I'm sure a handful of people have an interest in Fighting Games. Well... My only idea would either be different roots of raising, like you said. Or perhaps influence from City States, maybe Kittycat didn't want to be a Hunter for the tribe when it grew up, it wanted to be a... Tin Can, because it always saw those big burly tanks of people in Ul'dah. Or maybe a Keeper took influence from the Elezen Lancers and was like "You know what would be more effective against those Trees that Hug back?! A SWORD." - Bam Paladin. Really, my solution would be to pick things down to their essentials and then feed off it from the ground up, but I'm pretty simple when it comes down to it... So I can't help you much with an in depth badass back story. After all, my character's trope is sleep. Whaddaya expect!?! Good luck though!

From my understanding, Gilgamesh is the 'Fresh start' unofficial RP server, and it's up to the community to cement the mold... Buuuut it maaay also be the chosen server of the Reddit and 4chan community... Sooo that might be what you ran into. I can't vouch for them, because I've never actually been on 4chan or Reddit, but their reputation isn't the best.. to say the least. However, there are a lot of RPers hiding on Gilgamesh, it's more the fact that it's Beta.. the first day for that matter, and most people are focusing on leveling and getting things set up. So most people aren't even RPing. I know that I spent the day getting to 20, and now that I'm set, I'm pretty much just sitting in Limsa Lominsa, just reading shoutchat and being alt tabbed, but I haven't seen any RP since Beta started actually. SHORT VERSION: It's Beta, soo it'll clear up with RP blossoming when we actually launch, or maybe tomorrow, we'll see!
