  1. I'd say that all good things come to an end, but it's not really an end, is it? The RPC has played such in integral and indispensable role in the creation and life of FFXIV's RP community that, in a way, it will always be a part of whatever our community goes on to do and become. Although I haven't been active here in a long time, the RPC has been a huge part of my journey in FFXIV and I will always think fondly of it. I have warm memories of those first days of planning and organising back before the launch of 1.0. Being a roleplayer back in FFXI was often a lonely experience, so the idea that we could gather together and build a community right from the launch of FFXIV was so exciting. In the years that followed, the RPC would grow into something remarkable that helped to keep the heart of RP in FFXIV beating. So I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone who played a part in it and made it the special place that it was - it was an incredible project and a much-needed tool, and certainly something to be proud of. See you in Hydaelyn! Brynhilde Wulf (Balmung), Jakih Ishtari (Besaid - 1.0), Solemn Dawn (Omega)
  2. Hullo! I regret to inform those of you who knew me before that I'm back in Hydaelyn after a long hiatus tanking the RL raid boss. I mean, I've been back for a few weeks. But thought I'd make it official and what-not. It'd be wonderful to hang out with old friends! The rub is, I don't have the time to play that I used to, so I'm restricted to purely UK time, usually in the evenings. It'd be great to talk to any EU LSes and RPers, so please don't hesitate to hmu. Rhalgr clear your path, Brynhilde Wulf
  3. APPEARS IN A STRIKE OF LIGHTNING AND MIGHTY CLAP OF THUNDER, AS IF SUMMONED SOMEHOW. hi guys
  4. Hi Khaidyr, Feel free to swing by Cliffperch any time.
  5. Highlanders have less lore than Roegadyn, considering that Roegadyn have their own racial language and explicitly-stated origins. We can't claim the story of Ala Mhigo as 'Highlander Lore' in the same sense, as Ala Mhigo was a nation state comprised of varying races. While it's probably(but still speculation) that AM's population was mostly Highlander, we have next to no lore on the race itself. But if we're honest, the lore behind all of the races is very lacking, and it saddens me constantly.
  6. See, I wouldn't agree with any of that. There's nothing 'bestial' about Miqo'te; they're small, slim humans with some cat features. After the Lalafell, they're the 'cutesy' race. Highlanders may be very built, but they're simply 'athletic' at a push; they're still within realistic human proportions, so they don't fill the 'Big Smash' type. It all comes down to one simple factor; the cultural ideal of beauty. Roegadyns' exaggerated bodily proportions place them outside of this ideal moreso than the other races, with the exception of the Lalafell. And as we can see, Lalas are rather on the rarer side, too. Most people want to play a character they find attractive, and role-players are no exception to this. While I personally find Roegadyn hot as all hells, I accept that their physique is a bit too 'out there' for most peoples' tastes.
  7. What sort of thing were you looking for?
  8. Welcome back! I'll drop by sometime.
  9. Yeah, it can. Just change, "She goes to the store" to: "She turns to head for the store." "She begins heading for the store." Both are present tense, both state intention while leaving an opening for intervention from a secondary party. Personally, future tense has always struck me as a lack of confidence in writing, somewhat like the passive voice. More often than not, it's lead to me sat at my desk and wondering aloud; "Wait... He would do that? Does... That mean he doesn't? Is there something stopping him?" It often leaves the situation unclear, and clarity should always be a writer's (and RPer's) primary concern.
  10. I've always used quotation marks. Not only because it just looks 'proper' to my eye as a reader and amateur writer, but because it clearly denotes to the reader that I am RPing.
  11. If you're already friends with folks in the FC, feel free to swing by the house. Also keep an eye on our site; events logged with the [O] tag are free for all to attend, and [R] can be attended with permission of the event host.
  12. Aeon FC will be closing recruitment once more tomorrow (Friday 18th Sept) at 12PM EST. Be sure to get your application in before then if you want to join!
  13. Hi Seina! We received your app. Don't worry about doing things out of order, just come hang out with us and keep an eye on your app notifications for updates.
  14. I can do it tonight. I'm in the UK though, so within the next 4 hours would be preferable. Otherwise, tomorrow is good.
