It's not really a point of which fate it is. Any of them get mobbed with players because they camp areas waiting for them to spawn and then rush in. They are hardly ever up long enough to really be enjoyed. And i see this has turned into the same regurgitated nonsense about why FFXIII was bad. "Too linear" ALL the games are linear. FF has never been very open apart from in MMO form and even then it's not really open either. The Japanese don't make games with much in the way of exploration instead going for tight storylines. There is very little difference between XIII and VII or VIII apart from the fact many people played them when they were young and it has the nostalgia factor.

Oh i didn't mind the whole no cutscenes thing personally. You have the option to watch them later if you really want to see them most are just random nonsense anyway. More fun to finish a story quest in like 20 minutes .

Toughest overall dungeon and boss fight?
Moondoggie replied to Moondoggie's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Well you were right. Tried again with a new group and had a much easier time. Did most of the dungeon with one tank while waiting for a second to join. Amazing how easy things are when you have a solid group. Also did my first Ifrit hard mode which wasn't really hard at all managed to not die even though i made a couple of mistakes. And got my weapon at the first time . The conjurer weapon seems common in there. -
Toughest overall dungeon and boss fight?

Aurum Vale seems to depend on the party set up. Had problems with some line ups then i got a PuG with two BLM's in it and we basically face rolled the last boss. Still have Praetorium to finish tried today but we ran out of time because of the maintenance. Got up to Ultima phase 1. One thing i noticed about this is that people really do refuse to dodge some simple AoE's even after i tried explaining you just have to do the opposite of the first one for the second one and people just stand in the second one and expect to be healed each time. And the boss with the hand adds lol. Never have i felt more motion sickness. Bounced around all over. -
Or at least have cross class skills that are more useful. I think for White Mage there is only one cross class skill that is anything worth while which is the Swiftcast skill which seems basically needed at endgame because you get so little time to do a rez spell it takes like 8 seconds and in that time a ton of AoE's can show up and make you move and cancel. The rest of the cross class skills you get are basically worthless.

It's very much like nothing i played before in the AoE department. I'm used to the whole if you are out the area when the skill hits you are fine not having to panic and watch skills being charged to know if i am safe. Some charge incredibly quick for the size of the area you need to dodge. The combat system in all i find okay for an old school tab targeting game. Though after Tera every combat system seems more boring. The main thing i hate is the whole global CD when using a skill it makes skill using very slow and monotonous. When i know a fight i can literally play one handed it's so slow all while i drink my coffee.

Toughest overall dungeon and boss fight?

I have those last two story dungeons coming up. They seem a lovely mess of AoE spam especially The Praetorium. It makes me laugh how they don't really bother to make the bosses tougher half the time they just fill it with loads of AoE's to dodge instead and the boss itself is nothing. AoE's are only a challenge until you know the pattern and then it's just a case of doing the exact same thing over and over and occasionally still being hit from lag >.<. So first runs i'll probably die on something and get yelled at by the people who farm it several times a day. And also yelled at for wanting to enjoy the cut scenes . -
I'm still fleshing this character out especially now i've hit lvl 50 and got the white mage robe i wanted for RP purposes so i can relax and work on a character more. But let's see... Because of Konan's lack of contact with people outside her tribal group until recently she is still scared of the other races and finds it incredibly difficult to talk to people. She's also somewhat immature and very naive which makes her easy to lie to and manipulate. She's a magic user but physically very weak and pretty much useless in weapon combat. She has a fear of very crowded places and anybody who is much taller than her and since she is very short and scrawny that is nearly everyone who isn't a Lalafell not that she trusts them much either...They could sneak up on you and before you know it they have ripped your toes out and....Yeah. She also dislikes physical confrontation. Hunting fauna for food is one thing but a confrontation with one of the many races of Eorzea can send her into a panic of running and random healing spells.

Toughest overall dungeon and boss fight?

Aurum Vale is a funny one. Only had one group who bothered to get to the last boss. The first two bosses were not that hard just about knowing what to do and when . The second boss i actually found hilarious because of the amount of running around i had to do when the thing kept chasing me . The last boss i just wish the tank was not allergic to using stun on the bad breath AoE it does because every 5 seconds he was being stacked with debuffs and the DPS had too much trouble downing adds. Titan HM i'm probably going to hate the normal version was irritating enough with it's zero window to actually dodge anything and having attacks zoom in on me even when i was a mile outside the area. Prefered Garuda it was at least a fair fight. If you die it's because you made a mistake/ -

Do you have regen? I always find that skill great for kiting because you can use it while moving so can just spam it on yourself and the party keeping everyone alive and constantly drawing aggro. Oh I did, but when the tank doesn't want to pull anything from the miniture lala running around screaming with an ant latched to his head, I can't really do much more than that ^^; Tank shouldn't need to focus on anything but the boss. If tank and both DPS focus on the boss while you run around screaming and healing yourself should be over in a couple of minutes. Pop sprint if you want to get some distance and use the above walkways and run around posts to block them attacking you. Once you get used to it then it's just kind of funny to do that boss. -

That knock back move is kind of annoying. The window to move out of the area is so small and even if you move out half the time it's too late and the attack just zooms in on you. Somehow i found running forwards after running out the box helped me survive the knock back when it kept counting the attack even when i was out the box. A lot of the time the attack itself won't kill you just the falling off the platform. Having a static is obviously going to be better for all fights since you can communicate and know each others play styles really quickly. With a PuG it's a lot of new people and personally i try to explain every mechanic as best i can. Some go better than others. Being patient and constructive with people tends to work better than getting angry. Had a few people be really horrible with me if i make a mistake in a new dungeon like i should just know everything first time. Just doesn't always go that way. Patient seemed to work on Garuda anyway finished it in 3 tries with a group with 2 people who have never done it before. I think seeing the way people treat me has made me think about myself when i've been angry with people in PuG's for not getting it so i've been working on a more patient approach. If people get pissy with me i'm just like "Why should i care if these guys get to finish or not?" -
Just curious what people think about dungeons and boss fights so far in the game and which was the toughest? Not really found one that was mind blowingly difficult yet it's just about learning each rotation as it comes. I say this as i've not finished Garuda yet but still working out the last part with the Vortex where to stand without her constantly hitting me as the healer . Will probably finish it later if i have a group who can pick it up fast enough. She does the exact same things every time so i find her less annoying than Titan with his random forward AoE that can kill you even if you are way out of it. Dungeon wise not hit any sort of wall yet. Last one i did was Stone Vigil. Second boss was probably the most annoying as a healer unless somebody knows how to use canons. Edit: And i just realised i put this in "RP Discussion" derp.

Everyone only RP's in their own groups. Open RP is super rare. You might see a couple of people doing it now and again but not often. Not really seen any particular locations for it.

Category A: You, OOCLY 1. Are there any any races you particularly love the opposite (or same) gender of? The models, the history, the lore, anything. I like most of them in some way or another. Especially Hyur Males, Elezen females despite their necks bugging me a bit and of course Miqo'te of both genders look cool. 2. How do you view interracial couples in -game-? Specifically, let's not get into a debate about whether or not it's 'gross' to you as a person or if there are too many people doing it. The same way i view them in the real world. Love doesn't have boundries so even if i see a Roegadyn male and a Lalafell female i'll not bat an eyelid. 3. Do your OOC feelings towards a particular race make you more open or affect what your character is looking for when they're either flirting around, pursuing romance, or just, in general, acting differently towards those individuals. Nope. My character and me are different entities so what she thinks and what i think are very different. Category B: Your character 1. Does your character seek friends or partners based predominantly on race? Friends she would be open to anyone she finds interesting regardless of race. She's kind of shy and nervous due to only fairly recently meeting a lot more people of other races but will open up to just about anyone with the right amount of prompting. Partners she is a traditionalist so only other Miqo'te especially Keepers. 2. How does your character view interracial pairings and are their feelings different from your own? I suppose she doesn't care that much unless it's Miqo'te with partners of other races. She can't understand the idea of pairing other than to further the strength of the tribe so the idea of pairing with a non Miqo'te is alien to her. For people of other races she likely won't get irritated by it but she might question the logic or find it weird.

Recent Maintenance Updates and Dungeon Mechanics Changed!
Moondoggie replied to Aleister's topic in FFXIV Discussion
When it comes to pre boss cut scenes if there is plenty of time i don't see the need to rush or to expect others to rush. Sometimes it helps to establish you are new to a dungeon so people will expect you to watch the cut scenes. Not encountered too many people who are jerks about this i will normally purposely not cross the purple line before the cut scene is done if i want to watch it so if they want to be healed they will just have to wait. Had a couple of "go go go!" Tanks still who charge in without a healer and i just have to wait for them to wipe and waste time while they run back more so than would have been wasted waiting a couple of minutes for me to watch a storyline scene. -

Not sure how stopping people skipping trash mobs is going to stop people being mean but okay. I think there is a huge difference between people who want to cut out pointless parts of runs and people who are jerks. Also really can't see the point of them having an AFK timer now. I doubt anyone is bothering to keep logged in now since there are rarely queues or errors. -
What i mean is how the NPC's are represented. Like 90% of Miqo'te women are either prostitutes, slaves, erotic dancers or just all three. There is even a fate where you escort a Miqo'te prostitute to her customer who then shows his pleasure with a rude gesture. Does anyone else find it a little...I dunno annoying?

They wouldn't be "half breed" technically since they are both the same race. They just have different religious beliefs. They have some differences due to evolution through their lifestyles. From what i can find lore wise they don't have any particular dislike for each other. I'm sure it';s entirely possible for people from Sun and Moon tribes to breed together. It even seems to be suggested that cross species relations happen in the world so different tribes breeding is the least of the problems.

Fairly large. But i always like to think of the big picture when it comes to these places. The whole area is rather vast or if your character is born in a place they would be running into family members every two minutes .

You know the whole "Tank is god" think is not helped by certain Tanks who really act like they are god. I think the worst one i encountered i forget the name but i remember it being a lore one and that they are on Balmung. I can only assume they are an endgamer and have done Titan a bunch of times yet expected people who were new to the fight to be as good as them. After two wipes they yelled and rage quit. I also had this ridiculous fight with a Tank and what i can only assume was his Girlfriend who is a DPS and kept butting in when i was trying to explain things in Brayflox. When i first entered she mouthed off about how the last healer couldn't heal so i knew exactly what was coming. I always think that the Tank and Healer should have good communication the best runs i've had are when i'm really getting along with the Tank and we are looking after each other. For a new Dungeon i'll often follow the Tank and hope they know the route . If i know the place though i have no problems taking charge and just telling the Tank how to do mobs and bosses if they are new. Tank and Healer really have the same base requirement in that you need to have thick skin and be able to work under pressure. It's very stressful when things have not been going well after a couple of wipes and the rage really starts. It's at a point where if i get something wrong i apologise even if nobody got mad . Translation for when you ask why they have been wiping entering a group in progress: "Tank can't hold aggro" = "We kept stealing mobs and then the healer got aggro from them when healing the tank" "Healer can't heal" = "We are taking stupid damage and overwhelming the healer who is desperately trying to focus on the tank while chain healing the DPS" Feel free to add more translations

Well it's pretty common for DPS to have long waits because everyone plays DPS classes. They are the fastest to level and easiest to pick up and play. I think for the most part this game is a bit strange though. Until endgame people just don't really want to do anything. Fate grinding is so effective that basically all people do all day is camp an area and repeat the same fates. The LFG requests are almost all for Fate farming parties and for Endgame groups. I enjoy dungeons in general so i often spam them and its hard to find groups sometimes.

Would need details about hardware your computer has. Also if you use any overclocking and boost programs for your graphics card. For what it's worth i've noticed a couple of crashes related to certain elements. Might be that some stuff needs updating to work with the engine will do some research on that. It appears to be definitely more on their end though as far as a programming error. Maybe they'll solve it soon.

And jobs it has to be said are changeable and removable if needed. When you get the lvl 30 and lvl 15 secondary class requirements you do a quest that gives you a job crystal. Slotting this makes you a Bard and unslotting an Archer. However as people said you'll still be an Archer as a Bard it's the same thing as all job classes are just more powerful versions of your main class that gets like 5 new skills. You will love Bard trust me and people will love you. Especially healers since healing is so much less pressure if you can get the mana song going for them. The new skills you get for your job class are also much better like for example i started as a Conjurer and then leveled Arcanist to 15 to get my White Mage job. This gives me several helpful new skills like a more powerful group heal and a regen skill which lets me use a spell to regen health and waste less mana on periodic heals for the DPS. You should probably have a read about classes because you don't seem to quite understand what it all means for you and reading the stats and skills will really help you in the long run. There are also cross class skills so if you level certain classes you can use their skills on your main class. These cross skills can prove very useful not all of them are particularly good but you might get one or two that are great. Like if i level Thaumaturge did i spell that right? But yeah if i level that i can use their Swiftcast skill which is good for raising people fast since raise normally is a long cast which means people need to hold out without me healing them. With Swiftcast i can raise instantly.
