  4. Hello there, Vinos, welcome! The only way your choice of server will really limit you is in terms of the FC's you can join. Diabolos may not have as many options in RP FC's as Balmung or Mateus. Otherwise, you can just server visit to enjoy RP anywhere on the Crystal Data Center!
  5. Hello there, Bex, welcome! I think you should play whatever you find most appealing for RP! There are some Lalafell RPers out there and having more is always great! As you've read, you may run into some difficulty with players who do not take Lalafell characters seriously, or are primarily looking for romance RP/ERP and don't consider Lalafell for that, but they are the minority and are probably people you may want to avoid, anyhow. A lot of people take Lalafell as serious RP characters and even RP them themselves.
  6. - Make sure your RP event is on the FFXIV RP Calendar - You can add your event to the calendar here on the RPC as well as the events forum - You can also get listed on CrystalShouts - Check out some of the community Discord servers and advertise your event there in the appropriate channels - Consider advertising on tumblr and maybe twitter - Put up Party Finder ads in game - You can also advertise your event in /shout chat in major cities on your server and RP heavy servers (Mateus & Balmung) - Get out there and meet people IC. Invite them to your venue in RP! Aside from
  7. Hello there, Mika, welcome! As for what races are "fun" to RP, it comes down entirely to preference. I find Midlander fun because I have a lot of wiggle room to do what I want and essentially a blank slate to make my character's personality and motivations the spotlight rather than her racial customs or appearance. Other races are fun because their more specific lore can create unique and interesting stories and situations. It just comes down to what you prefer. As Teadrinker mentioned, RP groups that are themed around a specific race (or concept in general) aren't meant to exclude other
  8. Welcome back! I've been playing since ARR's launch and I haven't really seen a decline in the amount RP. You just have to look for it in different places than you might have a few years ago. Ul'dah pick-up RP has moved from the Quicksand to Pearl Lane right outside of it. RP events are still abundant--probably more abundant than ever. Sadly a lot of those newer events are "clubs" and "brothels" that tend to be light on RP especially of the non-ERP variety. The other RP events are still there; you just have to sift through the night clubs to find them. A lot of RP is arranged through FC's and D

  10. Hello there, Turtle, welcome! Overall, the RP etiquette here is similar here to anywhere else. Most players and FC's will be understanding if you are newer to RP and/or the game in general. I totally feel you on the anxiety--I still get it myself--but most folks are happy to have someone approach them for some RP! As for the short hand in some search infos... WU - walk-up MRP - mature RP DRP - dark RP ERP - erotic RP /c/ - Indicates the character has an f-list I think that wraps up the most common ones, but if you have any questions about anything at all, feel free t

On Thursday, June 3rd starting at 8:00 PM EDT on the Balmung server, Khuron Khan is hosting the finale to his current RP arc! Join in the conclusion of the story to put down all the foes we've faced thus far once more alongside our allies, and finally take on the Tribunus Lucian!
  13. A lot of "club" and brothel or otherwise 18+ RP events use the partyfinder for advertising. I hesitate to call a lot of them "RP events" because most are pretty light on the RP, ERP or otherwise, and seem to be more just hangouts for people to make their avatars dance around to some music before partnering off for some vaguely IC cyber hookups. As far as personals go, I also see a lot of what amounts to singles ads on partyfinder. I'm not saying you can't find actual RP on partyfinder (my own RP venue advertises there whenever we're open!), but generally it's not a place a lot of RPers go to l
  14. Hello there, welcome! There's not really any add-ons for RP. There are some plugins you can find that may be slightly useful for RP, like one for chat bubbles in game. But as Teadrinker mentioned, these are typically against the game's ToS, so I would use them cautiously and not talk about them in game. SE doesn't seem to do much about the use of third party software unless it's used for harassment or cheating, but the possibility is always there.
  15. A lot of people are playing adventurers or other characters a bit more larger than life than the average layperson, as is more or less what the game encourages us to RP--and as such, they have perfect excuses for their characters to travel the land to anywhere that might interest them, and the far east is expectedly enticing for a lot of folks. I do see an overwhelming amount of people playing far eastern characters, and on top of that, a lot of non-eastern characters who have found reason to spend a significant amount of time there (adventuring, business, joining eastern themed FC's, etc.). W
  16. It's entirely up to you. I'm the type to just dump everything on my carrd. There is some worry over people metagaming, but I suppose the way I see it is that just tips me off early who I don't want to RP with. That being said, I'm just kinda long-winded in general and don't many people do more than just skim my carrd if even that haha. So brevity is definitely not bad, either. If it helps, I oftentimes see sections with RP hooks set up like "If your character is (x), they might know (y)." It's a good way to get those hooks out there while establishing your limitations on the sort of character

    Hello, Katsugarry, welcome!
  20. Hey there! "All RP is ERP" is mostly just a stereotype spread by, ironically, people who don't RP. While there are a lot of people primarily interested in ERP (be it those who are straightforward and singular about it, or those who try to "hook" people in with seemingly normal RP first), the majority of the RP community is not ERP-focused.
