I went out and got me a PS4 recently because there was a good deal on it, and I got me FFXV as well. I'm not big on console games usually, and I haven't played the other FF-games that weren't FFXIV. So I'm very much a beginner when it comes to FFXV. But I actually really like it. I wasn't terribly convinced that I would like it as much as I do, but it really seems to hit the same notes with me as Witcher 3 did. I'm about ten hours into the game, and there's been a little bit of a learning curve but I haven't exactly got stuck anywhere. I quite like all of the small side quests that pop up, and the main story seems interesting - though I've not got terribly far into it. And then it's a really pretty game. I kinda think it is like it is with a lot of things, if you have huge expectations for a game then you might end up getting disappointed, I never really paid attention to the game or it's news before it came out. For a first experience with a single player game in the series, I'm quite happy with it ^^

According to the lore book in my lap: Racial Distrubution: Highlander Hyur: 60 %, Hellsguard Roegadyn: 10%, Midlander Hyur: 10%, Seeker of the Sun Miqote: 10%, Other: 10% So yes, there was definitely a presence of the other races in Ala Mhigo. There's also several people here on the RPC that roleplays Miqo'te's with such a background, and it's certainly an interesting starting point I think. Go for it

Take a look at the upcoming auctions! #1 Name: Rei Oshora (OOC Name: Talorathor Del'mor) Type of date desired: Friendly Brief description of your character: Rei is a woman still young by most standards, only beginning to enter her mid-20's. The young woman is especially strong-willed and independent while doing her best to keep a friendly air about herself. Being a Doman refugee she has seen her fair share of hard times and has faced them with a smile and the willingness to help those who need it. In recent times since arriving in Eorzea she has traveled north upon the tales of Astrologians willing to teach. While she's no where near skilled with the device, she ism more than willing to use it's cards to read someone's future if they so asked. #2 Name: Khunbish Adarkim Type of date desired: Romantic - If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character: A shaman who migrated to Eorzea from the Steppes of Othard, now he primarily spends his time as a fisherman, and healer. #3 Name: Zigovali Rigovali Type of date desired: Service Brief description of your character or character's service: Eorzea's self-proclaimed "Oratory Virtuoso", Zigovali is a man of many talents, and of many faces. His services are diverse and directed for the most dedicated and discerning demographics. For this Date Auction, he offers: - Freelance Consultation: Zigovali boasts a wide array of knowledge (if not all that deep), and has a knack for creative, often unorthodox, solutions. Anyone with a problem of any kind will likely find an answer from him, or at least a well-intentioned suggestion. - Diplomatic Services: Negotiating contracts and agreements, meeting with dignitaries and delegations, or even simply resolving disputes of any size in a peaceful manner. Zigovali prides his diplomatic skill highly. - Magickal Might: While still a student, Zigovali's aetherical ability is potent, and for the right price, he's willing to lend his strength to the right cause. - Discreet Solutions: If you have to ask what he means, it's likely not meant for you. Zigovali offers this service to more discerning parties. You know who you are. #4 Name: Lucilynn Faust Type of date desired: Romance. -If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character: Lovable, naive, a little bit shy, and hopelessly romantic, these are but some of the traits that make up Lucilynn Faust, a foreigner from the coasts of Othard. An amateur author featuring tales of love, loss, and adventure, Miss Faust is an ambitious bookwyrm with a desire for something more! Given her bashful nature she likely would not have been here... If it had not been for her foster mother's meddling. #5 Name: Koen Stone Type of date desired: Friendly Brief description of your character: Koen was told to sign up for the event by a very old friend who figured he could do with knowing more people. He looks to be in his mid-50s, but that could well be from stress and an excessive amount of frowning. Despite his harsh features and how heavily armed he usually is, he's a friendly man and enjoys conversations about almost anything he or the other person is interested in. He's willing to at least try out new things, even if he tends to stick to what he's used to. A list of some of the subjects Koen could talk about with a decent enough level of knowledge to hold a conversation: mining, warfare, armour and weapon design, armed (swords, axes and polearms, mainly) and unarmed combat, parenting, marriage, Warriors, Abalathia's Spine, Gyr Abania, and sewing. He's traveled a lot and has dipped his fingers in a lot of different things, and would gladly chat about most of his travels with anyone curious. Don't ask him to cook or sing, though! #6 Name: D'laika Type of Date: Friendly Description: D'laika is a playful Desert Catte always down for a drink and conversation. Tanned skin, Strawberry blonde hair, golden eyes. #7 Name: W'gahr Lupercal Type of date desired: Romantic - If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character or character's service: Trickster, tinkerer, friend. Those would be some of the most accurate ways of describing the miqo'te that is known as Luper. He is always there to put a smile on someone's face, spend some time talking about everything and nothing, and is always up to something! A Machinist by trade, Luper do love to entertain people in his free time. A big fan of song and dance, if you catch him in a good mood ( which is most of the time ) it is easy to convince him to do most anything! #8 Name: Quri Ayaala Type of date desired: Romantic - If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character or character's service: A tribal Xaela from the wilds of Othard, Quri prides herself on both hunting prowess and ability to inspire through song. She may struggle with the Eorzean language at times but this Au Ra is clever in her own right and won't fail to entertain. #9: Name: Vincent Sarkoza Type of date: Romantic. - Preference: Female Vincent is a chef working at the Bismark in Limsa Lominsa. He is most known as Vincent the traveling chef, as he frequently travels the land recording data of flora and fauna in his leather bound journals ( he has many). His passion for cooking and traveling motivated this venture and the information he's found has been a great boon to his career (and the Bismark) as a gourmet chef. While traveling, Vincent has a habit of working part time at the restaurants and inns he passes by or cooking for others he meets on the road. To this day he still continues this practice. He tends to frequent the city of Uldah and Limsa Lominsa. #10 Name: Indranilsar Oronir - “Indra” Type of date desired: Service Brief description of your character's service: Hunting and/or cooking - A skilled hunter of the Oronir tribe from the Azim Steppe in Othard, having traveled to Eorzea within the last three years. She has taken down beasts of many sorts with her bow and daggers. She hunts twice daily for her meals, and no part of a creature goes to waste that she kills. She is a talented cook, having learned many Eorzean dishes as well as keeping more traditional ones from her heritage. She makes her own alcoholic beasts’ milk, known as airag or kumis, based on the methods of her tribe. Her services are perfect for those that need or want a beast taken down in as swift and humane manner as possible, as well as for those interested in the cultural customs and cuisine of this particular Xaela’s tribe. She is also willing to teach others to hunt and cook during the service date, if desired. #11 Name: Emreg Belthen Type of date desired: Romantic Brief description of your character: Emreg is a rough and rugged rogue, working as a mercenary in the Thanalan region he spends most of his time out working. The tall Midlander enjoys nothing more than a good drink however (a bit too much!) and a gamble of dice in the taverns of Eorzea. Emreg is mischievous and devious, always looking for new ways to frustrate and surprise people. He is a playful flirt at the best of times - Fair warning! #12 Name: L'dhala Tia Type of date desired: Romantic - If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character: A mature Seeker native to the sands of Thanalan, Dhala is an experienced adventurer, hunter and tracker with plenty of scars to speak for his experience. Taking out anything from voidsent to bandits takes its toll however and this sun-kissed male is always happy to find ways to enjoy his life outside of the ever-present dangers of adventure. A timid girl who enjoys drinking spiced rum, baking Rolanberry cheesecake and bubble chocolate: she'll win you over with her child-like and naive nature. Plus she's terrible at telling jokes #15 Name: Hibari Shirogane Type of Service: Romantic Gender Preference: Happy with either. Brief Description of the Character: Hibari, still in her early twenties, has spent most of the last six years training herself, with the aid of members of the Conjurer's guild, and a team of Doman refugees, in both the arts of Conjury and Rogueship/ninjitsu. Unfortunately, during this time she hasn't had the opportunity to meet the one! This Starlight, she wants to meet a new friend, and see what happens. #16 Name: Reza'to Jinjahl (Zansetsu Ishiku) Type of date desired: Romantic, - If romantic, gender preference: Female Brief description of your character: Za'to is a shroud cat, and damn proud about it. If he's not out hunting, chances are.. he's thinking of what to hunt when he gets hungrier. Can be a bit of a grump but only if you're hyur.. or elezen.. or a popoto. He probably dislikes you if you are an au ra to. And while he might sound like a sullen and morose character, that's only til you get to know him. Then he'll get snarky too. #17 Name: Yuni Mihata Type of date desired: Friendly! Brief description of your character: Dubbed as the little cherry blossom by her friends back in Doma, Yuni is a very kind and sweet girl much like her namesake. Yuni grew up in the heart of the city with her adopted hyurian mother who had a bustling medical practice. Yuni learned the art of herbal healing and massage therapy from her mother, which inspired her to open a massage parlor near her childhood home. When the Garleans razed Doma, Yuni and her mother became refugees and were forced to move to Mor Dhona for a short period of time. While her mother stayed in Mor Dhona and became a medic for the wandering adventurers that came into Revenant's Toll, Yuni wanted to explore the world. Much to her mother's dismay, Yuni left to explore Eorzea. Unfortunately work was very limited for the massage therapist, which forced her into not so honorable work, but eventually caught a break when she was hired on as a barmaid in the Lominsan Star as well as Plains and Dunes - a lalafell targeted tavern. Now adays, Yuni continues to work as a barmaid as well as studies under the Coco brothers in the Thaumaturge's Guild in Ul'dah. This highlander is roughly 20 years old and eager to get out and market her skills so she might help her brother provide for the home they share together. She is always up for learning new skills so she might achieve those ends. Saoirse, or Cici as her brother calls her, is quite friendly, eager to laugh and lighten the moods of those around her. She offers services within cooking, cleaning, healing, advice, fishing and playing pranks. #21 Name: Madison Brookstone Type: Friendly Description: Madison is a pious woman who grew up living above a successful Alchimist's shop in the Jeweled Crozier. For many years, she hid the fact she was a daughter of Sharlayan refugees who sought to stay in Eorzea after the abandonment of the Dravanian colony. Ishgard wasn't kind to the different 20 years ago, nor did they accept her mother's art of Astromancy which was passed on to Madison in secret. Now at 23 years of age, she finds herself spending a lot of her time as a co-leader of The Pathfinders Free Company. Most of her free time is taken either by this or her ongoing novice studies in Thaumaturgy, but today she's here to try and meet new people and make new friends! Due to her upbringing, she is well mannered and well spoken. She has a penchant for the piano and musical theatre. As comes with the territory of her job, she won't shy away from an adventure but she'll probably pack a few changes of clothes and a couple pairs of shoes first. Her knowledge in Astromancy makes her an adept healer but her offensive skills have seen plenty of use. #22 Name: Star Type of Date: Yes! Why settle when you could have a friendly, romantic date on a boat! Gender Preference: Girlies! Fellas! Mammets! Brief Description of the Character: Mayhaps loud and outspoken, a little provoking, you won't be heartbroken Whether it's for a nice spar, you will go far, by throwing your coin on your very own Star! A protective fist-fighter to have at your back or merely a friendly game of tag. A lover of the open-road and plenty of sea-shanties this quirky adventurer is eager to please!

I know that we have an explanation for it but.. I'd just really wish that the highlander men get the option to have eyebrows. You know, since we're going to Ala Mhigo and such. They could just keep not having eyebrows as an option too.

I would not put slice-of-life/bar-rp down to being just a filler, it really depends in what kind of roleplayer you are and what you expect to get out of your roleplay of course - but character meaningful development of your character doesn't exclusively come from dramatic plots and the likes. I find that most characters can get meaningful development from various slice-of-life situations, playing off the traits you've put in the character that aren't just related to battle etc. There's some cliché examples like a cold-butt soldier meeting a person that softens his heart, the interactions between those two people don't have to involve anything other than the daily day in order to have some development that could end up affecting the soldier next time he's in a fight. It *does* mean though, that you have to be willing to follow through and not just leave a tavern encounter to being a tavern encounter. Don't just talk about the weather, get into the juicy bits (over time/several encounters perhaps) - if you say your character is loyal, of a kind heart, or something negative like being intolerant towards lalafells (sorry lalafell!) then test it. Figure out how far that loyalty stretches, just exactly when does the kindness stop, and are all lalafell actually bad or was it just a few. At one point or another it may have some effects on how your character acts in the next plot-arch, going into this endless loop of consequences of consequences. And I would also say that for fresh characters, getting some exposure to tavern RP and events where you take on the social aspect is rather important. I find the grindstone to be a good example of how you have an event where the main focus is on fighting, but have you seen how many spectators it draws in? Personally, it's been a great place for my character to get some exposure, meet some people and establish friendships. It is those connections that are going to and already have dragged her right into plots and dramatic moments, where there's even more development to be had. But on the scale of meaningful, both kinds are just as meaningful. At least for what I am concerned, things have to be in a balance - if I get too much drama, plot and shenanigans I end up disinterested, and vice versa.

I think there's more to it than people always being out doing other RP - what my thoughts gets lead to is the timing of those kinds of questions. If someone is asking a lot, but the questions always come right in the "prime time" then indeed, a whole bunch of people might already be occupied or at events because of prior arrangements. So if you ask earlier, you may be able to catch people before they arrange something - or even with enough time for them to be able to work you into whatever they're getting up to. I also think that asking, "Hey, anyone want to RP?" can be a bit too open-ended of a question, whilst of course it doesn't take long to do something on a whim, some might not be comfortable with that? So if you instead re-word the question and put in some hooks like, "Hey, my character is doing (X) at (This location) in a little while, would anyone like to pop along for a bit of RP?" it could help inspire people a bit more, give them something to go on. Being proactive is one of the best ways to find RP, and you're already taking a big first step by asking - putting some more bait on your hooks might help. Also, semi related I would also say to avoid assuming that people are always busy. Of course there are some who tend to plan ahead a lot, but my impression is that most people don't exactly have their whole week booked. And -even- then, I don't know anyone who'd get insulted over being asked, if they -are- busy then you can always plan to set off some time in the near future.

We have this interview wherein some people from the localization team state that the fantasia is, at large, treated as a meta item - and that is why there's very little reasoning for the item outside of it's flavor text. It all comes down to how you see the lore and how willing you are to bend it, using greyzones and questionable things. If you can find a headcanon that works for you, then it isn't like the world is going to end - but you should be aware that some people might opt to simply assume your character always were whatever race/gender you change them into as they might not be on board with a headcanon or fantasia use at all. You can get around that by simply not sharing the information easily, and if you feel like it is something that would naturally come up in conversation, you can always oocly whisper people first and ask if they're alright with you mentioning it. Don't take a no as a disapproval of your character - it's just really one of those subjects that split the waters so to speak.

discussion Things Your Character Believes That Are Wrong
Maril replied to Verad's topic in Character Workshop
Nailah has always been iffy about magitek - She sees it as a great evil that helped Ala Mhigo's undoing come along, to such an end that she genuinely thinks that if magitek did not exist, then Ala Mhigo would have remained free. She isn't entirely oblivious to the political troubles, the king of ruin and all the chaos that already existed, but I think she has grown to put that as a minor factor because she so desperately wants to believe in the highlanders and the plans to set Ala Mhigo free again. That dream of rebuilding a shattered people, and to feel like she belongs. So because of that she has been if not out right dismissive of then at least very tense in the presence of people that e.g have magitek limbs, use magitek weaponry and otherwise tries to mess with it to invent something new (even if it is "harmless"), with very very few exceptions (and even then, it's more tolerance than acknowledgement). To her, nothing good can come of it. How wrong that is, is obviously subjective - it depends a lot on other characters world view. She's met a few people who have tried to convince her, but it has been without success. As for if people bring it up oocly, I simply explain it's an IC opinion and not something that is necessarily factually correct. It'll be interesting to see how the expansion and their fusion of magitek and old architecture is going to pan out, and how it might influence her if/when I take her out of her hiatus. As for my other characters, there's some level of ignorance-based wrongs, such as my au ra not being entirely convinced that all ishgardians aren't still thinking he is part dragon and would want to kill him. He's also not entirely sure about this whole "twelve" business. Things like that tend to either evolve or get smoothed out as my characters meet more people and gain more experiences.
