He did have to battle for his Nunh status, in 1565. But I do think you're right, that his act of taking a single bride would reduce his status to Tia. And his status as Nunh didn't dictate his leadership status. His father imparted it upon him. Upon his father's death, instead of holding a tribunal to elect a new leader, someone simply took it upon himself to challenge Caden to take his place. Wether or not that would have held up to a tribunal is unknown. I didn't mean to make it seem like Nunh was a status of leadership. I will make the proper adjustments to correct that. And I do see what you're saying with the clan thing, I did get that mixed up with tribe. There are 26 different tribes, the clan being Seekers of the sun. I will also make that proper adjustment. So I suppose it would be a community with different tribes all gathered together. I was thinking it this way because of the devastation they had to escape from in Ala Mhigo that there weren't many of the tribes left so they formed a community? I don't think that's so far fetched. Also, because Ala Mhigo has historically been a sort of...unstable place, that over the years in that area, tribal structure for some Seekers of the Sun tribes would change, alter slightly. I'm sort of basing Caden's tribal structure around that. That would partially attribute to not everyone having the same clan letter assigned to their name, such as Caden's mate, as she's from a different tribe. And his father did mate outside of his tribe. Unless you think that once mated, the female becomes a member of the tribe she marries into. For example, Caden's mate, C’meina, is of the Coeurl tribe; once mated to Caden she would adopt the Wolf so her name would be W'meina? Good points all around Aysun, thank you for your input. This was all put together rather hastily for me and isn't entirely. It's helped me immensely to flesh out those aspects. And again, this is still in the experimental stages. Everything is subject to change or to be thrown in the trash. OH, height! Forgot about that part. I actually changed Isaac's height when that study came out. I gathered from it that Miqo'te males are tall? Eh, just as well. I didn't like him being so tall anyway. I have re-adjusted his height to what it was before.

I've been thinking a lot recently about how my characters have failed, seem godmoding and all together lore breakers, and I wanted to change that. I wanted a character that I liked, keeping some of what I had created while adhering to the game's lore and sense of time. I believe I have done just that. Over the past 5 hours, I have been studying the lore of the game; the games timeline, the way time works in the game, events and Miqo'te naming conventions as well as clan structure for Keepers of the Sun. I am happy to say that I am personally pleased with what I've done, however I would like to get some input from the various awesome people from the RPC community; to see what you guys think and to possibly point out inconsistencies with the lore I may have made or overlooked. So without further ado, let me introduce you all to Caden Vadoma. (AKA: Isaac Vadoma) Biography: History - Timeline format: In keeping with naming conventions: *wipes the sweat from his brow* ~whew! With all that said, and again I'm very happy, I'd like to get your guy's input on what you think. I'm absolutely adamant on roll playing this time around and I will do whatever I have to to make that happen! Nothing here is 100% complete and is obviously open to change and alterations. Thanks for reading~!

Does anyone have any information -lore- on Little Ala Mhigo? I remember having to go there for the storyline in 1.0, but silly me I don't remember what I read and I can't seem to find anything online. What I'm specifically looking for is when it was founded, or a general idea. The Garlean's occupied Ala Mhigo in 1557, so the refugee's fled to the twelveswood shortly thereafter. Was Little Ala Mhigo founded later that year, or is it a new incarnation closer to 1572? (present day before the fall of Dalamud) Thanks in advance to whosoever has the answer.

I've been having those for a while now, lol. Characters in the order they appeared: Nedral Crenl Aixa Eternal Darkness / D'vislian'l Ailith Vadoma (three different versions of her since I created her, two of which were only mentioned on these forums and since then all data regarding the original has been erased.) Isaac Vadoma. All of which, I should mention, are Miqo'te. Because of v1.0, the first three are female, Isaac being the only male character I've created. I'm starting to kinda not like him, however I still like Ailith. But now that I've been reading more and more on lore, I want to stay as close to the games lore as humanly possible at this point. Which means my naming conventions for Isaac and Ailith are waaaaaaaayyyy~ off. I'm still unsure...but I have ideas roaming around in my head. Three years on these forums and I'm not established in game or any RP or linkshells with anyone else here, and that's my fault.

Well, therein lies the problem. As Yssen stated, and this is true, nearly all of the Empire's soldiers are brainwashed conscripts. It mentions that somewhere...in the game I think? I can't remember exactly where, but it is a fact, so the likelihood of your character living in a city state that is under invasion of the Empire, being picked up by a Garlean soldier and living is extremely slim to none. One of my previous incarnations of a character was a member of the Garlean empire who had overcome her brainwashing with the aide of someone, but it doesn't really fit and I considered it lore breaking, so I dropped that character. (I've had a few identify crisis issues in my 3 years on these forums, and I'm still having one atm). I'm not saying it's not feasible to spend time or reside in Garlemald after being picked up by a soldier, but it's highly unlikely. You're more likely to make drinking buddies with Odin and play D&D with Ifrit while having tea with Garuda. Ok, ignore that part. ;p

Well yes, all of that, but that wasn't my point. I was merely saying that you'll find Miqo'te just about everywhere -as per the original question-, including the Garlean forces. I didn't mean to imply they were there willingly. From other tid bits on lore I've read about Ala Mhigo, the primary inhabitants are Highland Hyur's. But that doesn't mean there weren't other races residing in Ala Mhigo. Ala Mhigo was also the most technologically advanced city state, which, aside from it being closest to the Empire, made it a prime target for conquest. The Empire has only been occupying the former city state for about 15 years (prior to the fall of Dalamud) if I remember correctly, give or take a couple years. So it's feasible that a character can be born there, live through and escape the invasion with the other peoples that were able to flee Ala Mhigo into the Twelves Wood. What I'm saying is, don't plan your character's time in Ala Mhigo too heavily because we still know next to nothing about it.

My two characters, Isaac and his twin sister Ailith, were both born in the foothills of Gyn Abania though lived most their early lives in Ala Mihgo and went through the Garlean invasion. Beyond that, I haven't written any of their early childhood around Ala Migho -I think they were between the ages of 9-12 when the invasion happned?-. There's not too much lore based around Ala Mihgo, at least none that we're privy too, so I thought it was safer just to say "Yeah, they're from Ala Mihgo, but beyond that I can't tell you because I don't know." I think it's relatively safe to say that, yeah, your character is from Ala Mihgo and he was part of something or other, but to be safe and to keep away from lore breaking, I would keep it open and be willing to change things to suit the actual lore once we know. Also, from what I remember, somewhere in my brain recalls this, Ala Mihgo was a city state just like any other, though much larger than the rest. It was home to all sorts of people, so I don't believe it would be all that uncommon to find Miqo'te there. Hell, you'll find Miqo'te in the Garlean army, conscripts and what-not. **edit Also forgot to note, that Ala Mihgo was a Monarchy before the invasion. Also, in case you don't have it, this is the best place for lore: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/491-Lore

I've waited three years to learn more about Ishgard, and I'm still waiting. Patiently, mind you. But if I remember correctly, Ishgard won't be open at ARR launch either. Yoshi-P said something about it being opened in a later -large scale?- patch. The first character I ever created, her back story was in Ishgard, but then when I realized that nothing has really been revealed about it, I had to scrub it. So I'm as eager as the next person about Ishgard! -smells a possible siege quest?-

I took this challenge a step further and used the trackpad on my Macbook Pro! I came up with this super, duper realistic rendering of Isaac shooting a bow. I spent most of my time on the background, took a lot of rendering to blend all the colors to get the snow in the snowstorm correct.

Isaac is unemployed. Not sure of the Grand Companies count as employment, but he's been neglecting his duties anyway. Ailith, however, is employed.

Awesome! More options, more diversity. Although I still feel a color wheel would have been a little more beneficial, those swabs do seem to have more color options than before. And those hair styles! Awesome! Can't wait to play with the character creation!

What I meant by Isaac's MO, is he was a member of a group that hunted down baddies and countered dark and vile magicks, but it turned out that the group he was in was mostly Lambs of Dalamud in disguise trying to collect the black magick. So while Isaac would most definitely NOT be a member of the Seven Devils, he could definitely be one of the good guys. And I've got a couple characters that I don't play as, side characters, that could be a perfect fit into this evil organization.

I love forums sites that have chat rooms and I think it's a really good idea to incorporate one, -always kinda wondered why the RPC didn't have one from the start- and it would be good to have it, especially for newer members/players or for those people who haven't established themselves in any kind of RP group or linkshell. And like Eva said, sharing stories or RPing or any other myriad things. I also agree with Eva that it might not get so much use, especially after launch, and it might not be cost effective. I personally would like to see some sort of chat feature implemented or even a shout box maybe? Either way, when the time rolls around for either this chat feature, or the annual donations, I only have one thing to say to the RPC admin and all the other staffers:
-
Hah! Take that blizzard! *some faith in humanity restored!*
-
Perhaps I should do this... There's a lot of Isaac to tell that I haven't found a suitable outlet for and I'm not involved in any active RP's with him either. I recently figured out, mostly, what he's been doing in the 5 years since the fall of Dalamud. *plots*
-
*raises and waves his hand frantically* Ooh ooh ooh! This sounds really cool! I'm in and all for it. Besides, it kinda fits Isaac's MO anyway. All about helping and furthering this one.

Massive content for Phase 3 you say? Only a portion of the content that will be available upon release you say!? WTF are you waiting for!? Gimmieh game naow!!!

Yes indeed, it is all fixed sir. Thank you! and I deleted my cookies for you T^T
-
Alrighty! So we have an announcement on the next phase of beta and a general release date of summer 2013! And some other goodies! :3 Read the entire letter here

Just bumping this to check on it's status as I'm overly curious and I nearly forgot this was going on. It is still going, isn't it?
-
I'll take Chimera for $2,000 Alex.

Copy that. It's an issue with firefox on mac, still had the same issue after deleting cookies and refreshing/restarting several times. I'm using Safari now and it's working perfectly fine. **edit Yeah, firefox is having a bunch of issues. That's ok though, site is working perfectly in safari and chrome. 2/3 isn't bad ;p Again, thanks for all the hard work Kylin and the admins!

Thanks for all the hard work! Glad our home away from home is back up and running. Also, not sure if this is a bug or not, but the -I guess- pull down menu that gives me the links for User CP, Edit Profile, Change Avatar etc., is constantly down and won't collapse, even when I click on it or any of the options.

Well that makes me happy. I don't have to loose my Goobbue mount! :bouncy:
