I Hope everyone's New Year's celebrations were fun and enjoyable! Keeping up with The Lodestone, there is a new post from Yoshi-P, thanking everyone for their support of the game and for those who have stuck with the game for the last two years. There's no direct link to the post, as it's not a Letter From the Producer, so I'll quote it here so it doesn't get lost in future posts from The Lodestone. So what are your thoughts on January 7th? Could it be the day we get a Benchmark for ARR?

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! Be safe and be responsible but above all else, have fun! See you all in the new year!

Isaac ran a hand through his black, wavy hair as he watched the exchanges of the others in the group. He sighed slightly, feeling somewhat out of place. Though he would continue on the quest and accompany them into the Tam Tara Deepcroft, he had never spent much time with a group of people he hardly knew and was a little uneasy. His left ear twitched as he heard a rustle in the bushes again. He looked over the camp, at the different people gathered, idly gripping the knock of an arrow between the knuckles of his index and middle finger, allowing his bow to slide off his left shoulder and into his hand. Isaac was slightly on edge and his scar burned slightly. He shook off the bad feeling he had and re-slung his bow over his shoulder. He rubbed his left arm trying to subdue the burning sensation and stepped away from the gate. They were close. He untied the small leather thong that held his tail around his waist, letting his tail out to its full length which oddly seemed just slightly too short for his height. Isaac tilted his head back, raising his face to the sky, closed his eyes and took a deep breath basking in the sun light.

As Kylin said, it's a made up NPC that plays a part in Isaac's story, though she may become a side character that I'll roll play. Also, to my surprise, there's an NPC in the game named Ailith. I had no idea when I made her until I got the quest lol Also, I want a Bomb and I want a baby Chocobo Pet :bomb: :chocobo:

It does seem that way doesn't it? Lol Isaac keeps his tail wrapped up like that because when he was a child, Melfina would tug on his tail anytime he lost his balance or footing while she was training him. It annoyed him greatly so he solved the problem by wrapping his tail around his waist. So now he has excellent balance without his tail. His balance still isn't top notch with his tail unwrapped, but he will use it to steady himself when shooting an arrow at long distances.

It would be interesting if you could hide your tail, like the way you can hide your helmet. That would be perfect for Isaac seeing as he keeps his tail wrapped around his waist most of the time.

Apparently, the development team did a live stream on Nico Nico Douga. During this live stream, they benchmarked A Realm Reborn on four different PC's: low, mid and high spec as well as a Windows 8 Touch tablet computer. But the more interesting note is the screen shot that's on the Developers blog. It features six different characters, two of which are a male Miqo'te and a female Roegadyn. It would also seem there is a tail-less Miqo'te. From what I know, this is the first look at the female Roe aside from the art work. The picture also shows off some new armor and two possible pets? Anyway, here's the image but feel free to check out the Developers Blog for yourself.

Merry Christmas! To avoid sounding to clichè; have a holly jolly Christmas, it's the best time of the year!

I made a test account on the test forums and at first, the navigation threw me off, but I was able to pick it up in no time. It's definitely more sleek and stylish and I like it. Keep up the good work! Also, something to consider, but maybe we should look into getting an IRC channel if we don't already have one. People can RP that way as well, with private pm's and chats. and it's a way to get in touch with everyone if you're away from your computer or can't log into the game. I'm a moderator in an IRC channel and I have what I like to call my "IRC Server" that stays on all the time, so if you want to give it a try I can run a channel for you. Just food for thought.

Isaac places a reassuring hand on Genevieve's shoulder and smiles up to her. "Relax, we're not under attack," He looks over to the newcomer in time to see Hope landing on the ground, proffering up first a rebuke, then an introduction. He too was curious about this new, disheveled arrival. He made a mental note of how manny arrows he had left; he had only used two since refilling the quiver the other day. He looked back up at Genevieve. "Save your energy and your wits for the deep croft." He smiled once again up at her and walked over to the fence Endemerrin sat upon and leaned against it, folding his arms across his chess. His sharp, green eyes scanning the surrounding trees and brush. "I would rather not dally too much longer," he said to Endermerrin without breaking his gaze from the forest. "It's easy to loose track of time in the Deepcroft and it's not exactly a place I fancy spending the night."

Truer words have not been spoken. I sincerely hope I've hit the nail on the head, or at least close to it, with Isaac. I'm still working out some kinks, but I'm not going to give up on him. I've altered his story a little in the the past couple of days to accommodate him more into the game's lore instead of things I had created in the past. I have forsaken everything about my past characters and started anew. I'm really trying >.

While I full heartedly agree with you on this, I'm still a little apprehensive. If you remember, I was under fire about Eternal Darkness' original manifestation. While not all complaints were totally unwarranted, she was picked apart before I could explain her entire story. That hit me pretty hard and ever since I've second, even triple, guessed myself on characters that I've created and while I persevere and stick around, I've felt like kind of an outcast because of that. I'm positive that feeling that way is entirely my fault. All I've wanted was to just be part of the group and have a good time.

That would be spectacular if they allowed us to do that. I do so like my Goobbue mount.

I figure that if Square were smart and wanted to accommodate the Roll Player community, they would make whatever official RP server the one that we've already designated as the Non-Official roll play server, aka Balamug. With that being said, I will go along with whatever everyone else chooses to do. Seeing as my new main character is male Miqo'te, I have no choice but to re-roll anyway. Though I'd rather not loose what I have on Ailith, to me personally it is an acceptable loss as I'm not even sure she's still alive, but I do fully comprehend everyone else's apprehension regarding the server issue. I'm sure Square won't let us down in this matter.

Look no further than my third character, Melfina "Night Mage" Windsor. I haven't unveiled her completely yet, as I'm still not 100% sure of the Lambs of Dalamud's lore, but she is definitely a member. If you read Isaac's bio on the wiki, or look at my latest post in Under Blue Skies, Melfina is responsible for the dark magic that caused the scar on Isaac's arm and I haven't finished writing his biography yet, but it's unsure if Melfina killed Isaac's sister Ailith. Yssen: Thank you for all that feedback, I appreciate it and don't take it as judgement. I had no idea that the Empire brainwashed their military subjects. And you're right about the bug, it would be better if it killed fairly quickly, if not instantly. As for Kali, I was thinking more along the lines that she was born in the empire and volunteered to be in the military so maybe volunteer's get special treatment when joining, but again I suppose that there's still so little known about the empire in that respect that I can't create a solid story to back her up. She's not integral to Isaac's main background or story, so she's still up for development. I will mull all this over and make changes accordingly. Again I appreciate your feed back. I have another question; Isaac and Ailith were born in Ala Mihgo, they were both 6 years old when the Empire attacked. They managed to escape with the help of Melfina. Is that something that's plausible, or am I again missing something?

Isaac raised an eye brow as he watches Hope fly off into the tree's, impressed at her keen acrobatic skills. He heard a slight rustle from the forest after Hope had settled on a branch, staring off at something, and pretended to ignore it. He unslung his bow from his shoulder then removed his cloak, revealing a quiver of arrows that rested against his waist, presumably attacked to his double banded black leather belt that had various pouches. Isaac moved is way up to Genevieve as he folded up his cloak. He smiled up at her reassuringly. "Not to worry lass," he said pointing off into the distant trees. "Hope is perched just up there, scouting ahead most likely." He reached into a burlap sack slung over his right shoulder and pulled out a pair of gloves, the right glove only having sleeves for the thumb, ring and pinky fingers, then place the folded cloak inside. "And don't worry about being nervous, it's perfectly natural. None of us will allow anything bad to happen." After slipping his hands inside his gloves, he removed the sleeve from his left arm, revealing the gnarled, twisting scar running up and around his arm like a myriad of lightening bolts, disappearing under his black and gold trimmed sleeveless doublet, then stuffed the sleeve into his bag.

On December 31st, Square will be shutting down the current version of Final Fantasy XIV forever. So if you've still a mind for adventure and want to get in a few more hours, get it done now because in 13 days you won't be able to! Chocoback in Black There was a new post to the developers blog displaying black chocobo armor that looks rather like... behemoth?

Isaac scooted back his chair back and stood up. He made sure his bow was secure around his shoulders and made his way up the stairs and out of the adventurer's guild, keeping pace with the rest of the group. He looked to the north east over his shoulder, in the direction of the conjurer's guild, a private thought crossing through his mind. After a moment, he turned his focus back to the task at hand. He reached under the sleeve over his left arm and scratched idly, partially revealing a gnarled scar trailing up his arm from his wrist. It looked almost black against his skin. He was rather excited for this little venture, even if it was random and out of the blue. Nothing better than to waste time taking care of Voidsent and the Lambs of Dalamud. He grinned to himself as they exited Gridania.

Ahh, sorry for the late notice, I only recently started following the FFXIV twitter, but yesterday, December 10th, the following was posted: So keep an eye on your inboxes tomorrow if you haven't already gotten an invite, like myself. Also, a new post was made to the Developers' Blog show casing the SE building, approximately where Yoshi-P's office is in relation to the front of the building and... this little guy: Could Tonberries be making their FFXIV debut in ARR!?
-
The developers blog has officially gone live, but I remember seeing this before... I think someone else posted a link to this particular page. But, it's official on the Lodestone now; The Developers Blog It's got some pictures of the ARR benchmark test and a nice little blurb about the game.

Dan is my name and I'm probably one of the most generic, typical white guy here. I live in San Diego California, I have a bachelors degree in digital film and video production that isn't doing a damn thing for me out here. I'm unemployed, but when I do work I generally make around $350/day. Oh, I work in tv/film doing lighting and grip work. My main goal, and passion, is to be an editor. I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm rather good at it and I've had my first editing gig a little over two weeks ago. They liked what I did and will probably call me back. Anyway, my hobbies include: writing, playing the guitar (not so much now-a-days), i like to draw but I get frustrated with it because I don't think I'm any good and if it doesn't look exactly how I want it I stop after a while. I also love to play, and watch, Street Fighter. Cammy is my character and she's tattooed on my right leg. I also have a Zero (from mega man x) tattooed on the underside of my left forearm and, of course, the blue bomber him self, Mega Man X on my right forearm. As far as role playing goes, i love it to little tiny bits so I can nom nom on their savory goodness. Sadly, I haven't done much RP'ing in the last two years since launch, or even in open beta for that matter, I've had character issues... But that's all changed and I'm gunna RP the heck outta ARR! I'm also, apparently, really shy. Last time I RP'd, in a story telling session in gridania, it took me almost a half hour to work up the courage to finally say something and join in the fun. I missed out on a few things because I was too chicken to say anything I dunno why.
