Calling all Yellowjackets (Brainstorming and Discussion)
Shayrei replied to Melodia's topic in RP Discussion
Omg I have the perfect character for thiiiiiis. Madeline Rhett: got into the jackets just to prove that any idiot can do it. ... Wait... Hehe ..... But I'm so invested in Daphine and Andy right now I'm not sureI'd have proper time for her. Let me know how this pans out. I can always alt-play while on my main in an LS and hop over when applicable. Good luck, Ruru! -

The Quicksand is buzzing; Bodies fill the tables, conversations rumble on as the servers navigate the crowds carefully to ferry drinks and food to the patrons there tonight. A large fellow moves from one of the bulletin boards, waving a paper at one of the groups huddled at a table. "Ya' hear Thatcher is havin' another gathering?" "Oh? Nah, haven't. What's it this time?" "Flyer calls for booze and bets, heh." "Her girls gonna' be there? "Sea swallow et ef I know. You comin'?" "To take money from Grace. Oh aye, I'll be there. Gods know she has enough of my coin to spare." Everyone is welcome! We'll be using Roll20.net to deal the cards, so anyone interested in joining the table will need an account there (it's free). I'll post the URL to players when we start the games. We'll be playing poker, "Hydaelyn (Texas) Hold 'Em". Simple: no blinds, no burning of cards. Don't be afraid if you've never played! It's really easy to catch on! All the gil used in the bets and such is all IC. No real money needs to be traded between players. If you would like to help out please let us know, we can always use an extra set of hands! A bartender... other entertainment, whatever! I hope to see you all there, if you have any questions, let me know!:bouncy: ==================================================

Hi guys! Look, look! A ball! And now that I have your attention! Let's play cards! Andralyn is a bit of a gambler and she needs a place to hunker down for some Hydaelyn Hold 'em! The way we've played in the past is to use http://roll20.net/ to create a room and deal out cards then kinda flip back and forth to RP the bets and such. It's a bit "gah" because it takes you out of the game just a bit, but still enjoyable, I think. Would anyone be interested in joining in on something like this? Is there an event like this already established in Limsa? If there's not, does someone have a house they're willing to open for a night of gambling...I promise Andralyn will leave the 'companions' at home.

Blood on the Sands Episodic rp event (Rules for Event 2 in first post)
Shayrei replied to Askier's topic in Chronicled Events
I'm going to just throw this in here, ignore it or not. First, let me say that I have no ill intent or will toward Askier, Osric, Kahna or anyone else involved in these large schemes RPs. Hell, I'm part of my own. Besides that, I do thoroughly enjoy these characters' players (...and the toons themselves I suppose. ) I've been watching this plot develop from the outside on this forum and from the glimpses I've gathered in game. Save from a short bit of RP that I had last night with Askier, I am not involved. Nor am I up to 100% of the information (even within this thread, as I've just been checking on it as I can, I'm sure to have missed something). I can see where the concern is and I'm honestly a bit taken back by the guff that Aya (and others.. iPads don't make for the best places to reply) got when she spoke up. However, for now I'm going to step away from the consequences those involved should be held to because honestly, that's just something for me to handle ICly. Relationships will change, grudges will be held, just as they would with any situation where an outcome or verdict didn't match what an individual predicted or thought they should be. Daphine thinks Askier should have had stricter consequences when he threatened the city with a bomb many moons ago.. but it didn't happen. I don't know the workings of his situation ICly so I play with what Daphine knows. She feels sorry for him and the situation he was put into...but that's a man she can't trust despite the friends he has in his corner. It's just how it's worked out. I don't fault anyone, and as I've said, I still like the players.. it's all IC (He should be imprisoned! Not guilty?! WHAT!? STUPID GOVERNMENT RAWRAWRAWR... Canada... ) My question lies here. What are we supposed to do if we're not involved in this RP? If we didn't actively sign up to participate in this? Am just supposed to agree that the city has been attacked? That this event that has poisoned the city's supply of water, something that I would think would be news worthy and panic inducing (regardless of the type of news sources we have. Criers on the street would just as well as a city wide facebook or news channel 4). Or am I supposed to let this duality begin? That my character, who is played as a doctor under contract for the Flames, curiously received no patients dying within 24 hours (or what have you). Or a resident who bathed the next morning not knowing of anything. Touched by the twelve and saved to live another day? Am I missing something that gives me an out? I'm not one to completely shut down another person's RP. If you walk up to me spouting a strange tongue and calling yourself the high prince of Calcutta, I'll RP with you.. that doesn't mean I agree with what you're RPing, but you should be allowed to do what makes you happy. However, I think the reach that which this event took place may have stretched a bit far (at least for my preference) as it's has the possibility of effecting everyone's immersion that plays within the walls of the city. I'm fortunate that Daphine has reason not to have been in the city for some time and can work out all the "wibbly wobbly let's make this all fit and make sense" bits with little interruption to my own RP, but now that she's back in the city and has been made aware of this ICly I can see where this might get a bit sticky. (Though the RP with Raandal and Daphine bickering over their duty to the city over their preference to a certain Miqo was an interesting twist to the night because I honestly didn't see it getting shut down like that!) Anywho, I'm sure I've prattled on enough nonsense, just thought I'd toss in my two cents since that's what the internet is for after all. Good luck with the trials! Hope you all can get to some sort of resolution for all involved! -

Tiergan's Thread of Shameless Self-Promotion [No Commissions. Apologies.]
Shayrei replied to Tiergan's topic in Artisan House
I'm so jealous I think I'm turning green. You are a fantastic artist. -
Personal Profile Character Name: Andralyn Thatcher (Sophia Grace Lavoy) Gender: Female Race: Hyur; Highlander Domestic Profile Civil Status: Resident, Business owner Place of Residence: Long term lease on a suite in the Mizzenmast Occupation: Matchmaker, procurer (Dame of Heaven's Gate: Prostitution Ring) Free Company: Heaven's Gate Social Profile Andralyn is a twenty-five-year old, relatively short, (by highlander standards) boisterous, red haired highlander woman who enjoys instigating situations just to see what happens. She knows no stranger and will go out of her way to make sure people stay loyal to her by just about any means necessary. Known almost exclusively by Grace, very few people know her as Andralyn, though some may be familiar with her as "Thatcher" after a short (and probably seen as random) stint as the captain of the vessel the Aegis. She's been operating Heaven's Gate for nearly seven years and has successfully extended the previous owner's ring to include business in Ul'dah and (now legally) in Limsa Lominsa. Her "matchmaking" services are highly recommended and come with a quality in service and discretion that is nearly unparalleled. Vylbrand is her home, and aside from the short stints of business she has to conduct in Ul'dah she's almost exclusively found at one port or the next in La Noscea. Meta Profile Andy can be a bit much to handle at times. She's not one to hold her punches and while she's usually the life of the party she can quickly turn fierce and drop the friendly, professional front in favor of a more no-nonsense sailor with a biting tongue. This character is an alt, but I adore playing her! If you have any need for her to be used in any RP please let me know!

Character creation is usually open very early in the mornings. I know for me I'm able to make characters anywhere from 3am to 8am (CST).

Welcome to the RPC! I know it can be a little daunting to walk in on, but stick around and pop into a forum here or there! You'll find plenty of friendly faces to help you through things here. Which server did you go with? Regardless, the linkshell hall is a great place to start looking through recruiting companies! The "Making Connections" forum is also a good place to start finding stories to fit into. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask, there are always plenty of people willing to lend a hand. If you find me in game (Balmung server), please say hello!

balmung Recent xfers looking for LS/FC/RP
Shayrei replied to Ari Kagon's topic in Chronicled Connections
Welcome to Balmung! We've got plenty of FCs to choose from it'll just take some time to get through them to find the right fit for you. If you haven't yet, make sure you take a look at the Company/Linkshell forums here on the RPC. Hope to see you around! Happy hunting! -
Thank you, I didn't clarify that enough in my post, but yes, this is what I was touching on. The level of skill and work necessary to complete a task like that would be difficult. I play Daphine as a doctor more than a healer. She's a physicker, she knows how to heal with the arcanum, but she's first and foremost a medic, prefering to use alchemy and more traditional 'doctoring'. Get them stable with magic, get them back for surgery. ... then follow up again the next day. I'd be lying if I said it didn't bug me to see someone get riddled with arrows, have Daphine patch them up and then see them out starting fights again the next day. >.<
-
My two cents on the matter: I accept that there is magical healing in the game. It's there, why wouldn't I? This is used to expedite the healing process. It can stop most bleeding and begin the process of mending bone/tissue/muscle etc, but it will rarely ever completely and fully heal an ailment/injury in one shot. The exceptions to this, I feel, would be small (see very minor; 'bandaid') injuries and instances where a healer has really given themselves entirely to the task to the point of nearly injuring themselves in order to heal another. If you took a blow and were healed, it's still going to hurt in the morning. You're going to bruise. If you were run through, it'll take a day to get right again. You're not going to have a sword poking through your gut one night and get out for training the next... and if you do you should be playing out the pain. Broke your leg? You've got a limp. Dislocated your knee for the fourth time this month? That puppy is now a trick knee, congratulations Achilles you have a weak spot! I may be a bit extreme in my thinking, but I honestly enjoy the thought of not everyone being untouchable heroes. We're good, but we're not perfect. Let your character develop a bit through the combat and injury they sustain. I usually do no less than a week (earth time) to play an injury ( think the last I did, was a character getting jumped: busted a knee, messed up a hip, bumps and bruises), more if it was really severe, less if it was negligible, but I figure one earth day is like a bajillion Eorzean days so, it works out in the wash. ... I think I answered the topic in there somewhere... >.> :bouncy:

"Ul'dah? more like Ul' NAH!" *drops the mic* *Ahem* *picks up the mic* *taps* --Edits for semi answering of Ruru's query <3 *drags back the eyepatchy lala*-- I prefer Vylbrand because Thanalan is a desert, yuck and I assume the Shroud to be full of insects that want to kill me. Yuck, but if I'm there, I RP. *Especially* when I see another RPer start strolling by. (It makes me sad when a nodded greeting or some such subtle, look, I RP too is ignored, though) In my experience major city just tend to become hubs. They're convenient. It'll be rare to find large scale RP outside of a major city without reason (see episodic RP events). It's nice to see people making use of places outside the cities, but it's just not something you can expect to see. That said I make sure my toons (OMG I USED THE WORD TOON) travel. They enjoy it. Andy grew up on a ship and Daphine just likes to pretend she has an adventuring spirit. Rhysa and Kedi'ra vacation away from the shroud to Costa del Sol every so often if she can be tortured to spend the coin. I RP everywhere. When leveling Daphine and Andralyn I was IC throughout the world. It's tapered off now that I'm not questing, but I enjoy Eorzea as a whole.
-
Grace smiled at his approach, allowing the touch and the distance to close between them. Her smile broadened as she moved to join him in the venture, her hand moving to his cheek. She lifted to her toes slightly pressing close to him. Her lips hovered over his as she went in for the kiss, moving at the last moment to brush his cheek and whisper past his ear, "I wouldn't want you to drink spoiled wine, Desmond." She grinned as she came back down to her feet, taunting him with the smirk. She took a step back and turned slowly walking away as she began to pull the cloak over her again, "I look forward to hearing what you have to offer..."
-
She smiled at the touch and watched him pull away. A favor. A small price to pay... She didn't like it. A favor was anything but a small price and she knew it. Nothing in this world came with out great sacrifice. One hand taking from another. No, money was her answer to problems. Heaps of it tossed at her problems until they worked themselves away. Not favors. Favors meant debt. Favors meant tethers. Andralyn did not like being tethered. She watched him, the smile not faltering as she weighed her need with the price. Finally she nodded, "A favor, a small price indeed." She shifted her weight casually from one foot to the other, "Do not take this challenge lightly. The men.. man.. Tabart works for is dangerous, and Tabart is desperate making him just as serious a threat. Tread lightly. Come out with your life." The concerned warning was sincere, its intent, perhaps not so. She was hardly concerned with his life, but concerned that the information he could get would be lost if he failed.
-
Grace barked out a laugh at the notion that she was spoiled wine, her head canted back with the amused sound. She brought her hand to her mouth as she giggled away the titter of laughter, "Mm. You forget, love, I employed those you slept with. I know which of us has soured grapes." She brought her fingers together in measure, eyeing him up and down with a teasing glance. "Just because you like to make your lovers drink doesn't mean they don't remember, " she chuckled a breathy sigh and shook her head, bringing her free hand up in a wave to dismiss the banter. She took another step, this time to the side as she would if she was going to circle him again. "Just as before, my rewards are not yours to reap. Though, I'll be happy to set you up again." Her finger drew to her chin tapping it lightly as she looked around the overlook, "Who was it you favored.... Rose? No.., " she grinned, "Yes... just after she changed her hair..." She moved a hand through her locks casually as she continued her languid stroll around him, looking back over her shoulder after tossing the hair from her way, "I bet you thought of me... " She gave a quick wink and continued before he was able to quip back. "The challenge I offer you is this: As Zhavi mentioned, I need someone to infiltrate a rival business for me. Someone that can play a woman's heartstrings like a harp." She lifted a shoulder as she came around full circle and stopped before him, "Your love of women is not a secret, nor is your ability to woo and coo your way into their arms. I want you to work your way into the hearts of the staff, pull the secrets from their lips, as it were." The time for games was coming to an end, and Grace watched him closely, "The target is Tabart proprietor of Jaded, a whoremonger in Ul'dah. I need information. Find out what they're up to: money lines, string pulling, clientele. I need an in on the hand they're playing against me." She moved her other hand under the cloak on her arm, letting both hands rest in front of her at her waist, waiting for his reply.
-
Andralyn snorted, lifting her drink in a salute toward the familiar lalafell and then the female roe before motioning toward the rest, "T'family, aye?" She chuckled, tossing back her head with the laugh.
-
Andralyn turned to face the growing crowd, her drink moving from her lips to settle back down on the bar, "My mother selling me at fourteen to the highest bidder. A girl's first time shouldn't be with some dirty geezer with grubby hands and deep pockets...and it certainly shouldn't be facilitated by her mother...." She shook her head, offering a sigh, "Guess she knew best though. Knew how to make an heir of me..." She lifted a shoulder and took another drink. "The bitch..."
-
The woman laughed softly and turned to face him again. Lost to time... That's a steamy pile a' tuco-shit if I've ever heard one... She donned a frown as she looked up at him, "I'm sorry to hear that..." then pulled her lips up to one side in a smirk, "you haven't lost your taste for women, have you?"
-
There are plenty out there that's for sure! In case you haven't found it, this will take you to a list of free companies and link shells on Balmung. Happy hunting! I hope you find one that suits your needs!
