How our events work IC Contracts are chosen and handed out by our NPC tavern owner, Herald, via personal offering or via one of the many bulletin boards around her establishment (Lavender Beds Ward 12, plot 16). You touch it, you take it and be careful, she's always got eyes on those parchments. Find your job, find your party, get it done, get paid. It's that simple. OOC While a contract will likely be “pick up groups” made by someone shouting in the tavern or over one of the pearls Herald's regulars get to see if anyone wants to join in on the work- OOCly they will still likely be scheduled via our discord. Post a synopsis of your job (including the date and time you plan to run the event) into the #contracts channel and let folks react to join your party. Events (contracts/leves) can be posted by anyone. Unless there's a possible lore issue, don't expect moderation of your group. If you post it, you lead it. While there won’t be many, if any, overarching story lines as they wouldn’t make much sense for this type of /fc, players are welcome to weave their webs how they'd like!

FAQ Where's the Tavern located? Ward 12, plot 16 of the Lavender Beds What's the joining process like? Find Seda Riley (ShayRei#9850) or Dacien Cimeaurant (Dacien#1573) in-game or via discord and we'll get you an invite to the discord where you can copy/paste the application pinned in the #application channel and fill it out before submitting it there in a reply. Someone will get back with you to chat within 24 hours and if all looks good, we'll poke you in game to go over any OOC matters and then toss an invite your way (to the FC and/or the CWLS). Do I have to join FC to participate? No. We will make use of the ooc CWLS to try and bridge the gap for non FC and CW players. Discord will be relied on heavily to help here also so keep your notifications on for important channels such as #announcements #contracts or #linkpearl . Is there an IC interview? There is no IC interview*, after all, it’s just a tavern and you’re not working for the tavern itself, but the clients that hand out the contracts. *Unless you are applying to work as one of the tavern staff (barkeep, general staff, attendant to the gambling hall upstairs...) then we'll work out a little scenarios to work your character in. Nothing daunting. If you want an introductory RP with Herald/in general we can certainly work that out too! How did my character hear of this tavern/Herald? Lots of ways! Word of mouth or flyers with information about a place to find work, just another establishment that offers rooms for rent, a tavern in need of staff, searching for some lucky card tables... Does being one rank mean I can't do stuff the other ranks do? Not at all! You'll be assigned the rank that best suits your character (according to your answer on the application) but of course you're welcome to do other things. More jobs mean more pay, right? Do we have a roll system? Not currently! Everyone is welcome to run their events how they see fit. We ask that you explain how that might be in the contract that you post (Free RP, /random rolls, character sheets, modifiers etc). More often than not we just use /random to work out rolls and drop either the first or last digit to make it a roll from 0-100. We also have ideas for simple modifiers that we could use in the future if the need or interest is there. You're also welcome to use one of the bots in discord to roll a specific set of dice. Peak times? In game- 6pm-11pm CST Discord is pretty active most times of the day.

Our Premise (IC) After a lucrative run in Ul'dah, a Hellsguard hustler known by the angelic moniker "Herald" found an opportunity to expand the small bar scene she had built into a much larger tavern operation. She packed up shop in the desert and bought property in the Lavender Beds where she's now the owner and purveyor of the Seraph's Den- heavenly harbor to travelers, hunters, and anyone eager to try their hand at doubling the coins in their purses. Those that come to Herald are here for one of three things- work, rest, or gambling. Herald and her Cherubs have a knack for finding lucrative work for those with the skills to get jobs done regardless of their... moral compass. Doling out bounties, contracts, and leves alike, there's a job for just about anyone that comes looking, so long as you can prove your worth. Not a fighter? Not a problem- she's always in need of staff for the tavern, keepers for the rooms and attendants to the tables upstairs.

What to expect of us and what we'll expect of you. Don't be a dick. We’re adults, act like it. We don't police or parent people here- we do enough of that outside of our limited game time. Your political, sexual, personal, etc preferences make no difference here. Treat each other like you want to be treated. There is nothing wrong with civil discussions, but if it turns into a debate or someone prefers it not be discussed, it should stop immediately or get taken to a private channel to continue. If you can't get along with people or work things out should differences arise, then this isn't the place for you. Enough said. Age Policy Because we don’t police or moderate more than we have to we ask that you be over 18 years of age to join. The founding members are in their early/mid 30s- if you prefer not to play with old fogies, we understand. About Us Casual OOC We've created this FC and accompanying cross-world linkshell in an attempt to find other like-minded individuals to RP with. We're looking to create a community of folks that may want or need a more casual approach to finding RP (or PvE), but also want a certain level of lore adherence. We’ve all had our share of FC leadership that turned into a stressful second job- this time around we’re trying to keep things super simple and stress free. We’re not going to hunt people down to run or join in events. If there are events posted that interest you during a time you can participate- join in! If you’re having scheduling troubles, post and run your own and see who can do things during your times. We may post PvE events (such as maps, extremes, casual raiding, etc) and like the rest of the events with limited spots they’ll fill in with a first come first serve organization. So jump in when you can! We’re just here to have fun and find some enjoyment in the game during content patches and between- however that manifests. Down to earth characters and RP We prefer to see ordinary people do extraordinary things. Simply put, if your character is too OP we don’t want it. It’s no fun playing with people/characters that hog the spotlight and having a character that is a master of all things, never gets hurt, etc, can do just that. In general our RP is not about stopping the end of the world or taking down some big evil villain that plans to enslave all of Ul'dah. Bounty hunting, mercenary, slice of life (tavern RP), and adventuring work (leves) will make up most of our events. Lore Abiding Hand in hand with our non- WoL toons, we prefer to stick to the established lore as much as possible, bending into plausibility only as necessary for the sake of storytelling.

Either they're going to be a coolly coordinated pair who know what they're doing and can carry any party, OR... ...more likely... they're going to be the worst players you've ever met, who reassure each other constantly that their incompetence is meaningless, and probably even have party chat turned off because what do the other 2-6 people in the party matter when they have ♥♥EACH OTHER♥♥. Euugghh. I went into AV once to help out free company members. They were a catgirl love couple. They had to hug before and after every. single. pull. My wife and I are trash. We embrace it. Just save yourself the headache and take the debuff should you end up in a group with a Blackstone in it. Honestly, though, I've not run into a bad couple yet, with regards to PvE anyway... >.> Maybe my standards are low... maybe I am in a bad couple... oh god! I'm going into a crisis! On a more serious note, did SE buff the fuck out of enemy health in the two dungeons or has the dps I've run with honestly been that low...? Pffft. I carry you.

With our first payday under our belts, we're ready to start the next cycle of events for July! We've gotten a few more faces added to our rosters and while our doors are currently open for recruiting we're only going to leave them open for a few more applicants. January Update Happy new year! We look forward to seeing what the new year brings! RP: Of course we're continuing our weekly events! Whether it's a DM'd event, a simple pub crawl to relax, clearing out some baddies to protect some civilians, FATE inspired RP or the newly (or soon to be) added hunt RP, we're busy with something! We have plans for our "company story arc" to conclude this month. Schemes are already in the works for the next. We've begun to expand the ways we work to help Eorzea and her citizens! The Arbiters have added the rank of "Ward" to their rosters and will now serve as a place for citizens in need to be housed and safe. Looking for a family? Don't think you fit into the adventure mold? Let us offer you a place to call home! We're still in need of artisan (crafting and gathering) type characters as well as those types interested in research and development of any type. If you feel your character fits the bill and is the type of person to help Eorzea and her citizens, perhaps you should consider joining us. Characters skilled in the medical arts (both physical and aetherical) as well as those fighty types are still welcome to apply and join we can NEVER have too many skilled combatants. PvE: As a company, we strive to help each other as best we can with every PvE need. Be that running through MSQ dungeons and trials, tome farming, or even trying to get a group together for extremes and raids. We also do a bit of "retroraiding" from time to time, going back to outdated content to not only see it, but farm it for glamors and such. We're looking for people that are willing and wanting to run current content as a company. Our company has an OOC rank for those that don't wish to be ICly tied to us for one reason or another, for those that don't RP at all, and for friends of current members. She sat at the desk with the journal in hand and looked over her lists of to-dos needing planned. The boards were now empty, save one last retreat, the work had been done, each job now complete. Turning the page, she looked over her list, It was important, of course, that no one be missed. Remi and Lilly, Lazulle and Tieve, Sol and Artoria, Kaz and Suzume, Reina, Khal, Kyo, and Etienne Mialyre and Ulrich and Sedalyn Idris and Ulric, Sen and Eavan “Reina, my love, it's nearly seven.” Reina looked up from her counting and nodded, but she wasn't quite ready from her thoughts to be parted. Applications and interviews, invites and linkpearls It was enough to make just about anyone's head twirl. And then a frown worked to sober her bliss as she remembered those gone, some she dearly did miss. On their reasons for leaving she did not dwell But took a moment to hope they were all doing well. She moved through the house to finish packing her bags, her mind still moving through a list of their brags. The numbers of citizens helped by their hands, the threats they put down to better these lands. They stood against mages, beastmen and plights to judge and make certain wrongs were set right. Injuries occurred and their skills would be tested But they never gave up, they wouldn't be bested. Though, their guardians and healers were not the only heroes The generosity of their craftsmen and merchants did also overflow. Gathering materials for days to craft into quality goods which were given away to those with harder livelihoods. Refugees and workers, new adventurers too Their goal was to fill needs and they always followed through. As the company grew and the needs began to vary, The research and development team did not tarry. Small explosions and smoke from their basement workshop Through scoldings and evacuations progress wouldn't stop. She chuckled and shook her head as she mounted her bird patting its head as he turned his neck and then purred. After the festivities they'd have jobs to be done Contracts to finalize in just a few suns. She looked over the house as she rode off with her mate meetings with grand companies couldn't just wait. As she rode through the Goblet her mind did churn, What fate lies in store for the Arbiters this Heavensturn?

October Update! Sorry this is a bit late; the first week of the month has been busy and exhausting! Throughout September we gained some pretty great members and we’re excited to see who will come along to join us this month! RP: Our weekly events continued successfully and we made the first steps in our company story arch which will continue to evolve over the coming months. Keep your eye on the bulletin board, journal and our Great Hall (forum RP and stories!) for more information regarding that story, our past adventures and more! This month, we’re doing things a bit differently. We love to have our members involved as possible and in an effort to pull some people into the creative limelight, we’re leaving our calendar largely open for member (rather than leadership) lead events!! From what I hear we have some interesting things being planned! October will bring with it our community outreach event! Sunday October 18 at 2pm (CST) AoE will be gathering in Ul’dah at the Gate of Thal on Sapphire Avenue to give away high quality gear sets to civilians and adventurers in need of items. PvE: Though we took the last half of September off from our bi-weekly retroraids in favor of RP and members continuing to level, we will be continuing the runs this month for those that need EX-Primal clears or a chance at some pony mounts! Our fourth airship is up and running and we've FINALLY completed the final set of parts to gear our capped ships. Mmm, wooow. Sharp, yes. Quite sharp. Anywho... I'm not familiar with the server, as I'm on Balmung, but I would still suggest posting on the Gilgamesh centered forums, they might point you a few directions that you weren't aware of. Outside of that, my best solution for finding RP on slow days is just RPing by myself and at people until someone takes the bait and engages with me. Might seem a bit silly but I've had good results!

In an effort to give back to and engage the community we work with, the Arbiters of Eorzea free company is hosting a clothing and gear give away to benefit those trying to make a name for themselves in the world. In a fortnight's time at the fourteeth bell, our company will be gathering at the Gate of Thal to begin the distribution of goods to those in need. A hot meal will be also be provided also. Our crafters, gatherers, and adventurers have been working tirelessly to amass donations and high quality equipment to suit anyone's needs. The day had been long but the satchel on her hip was finally empty as she tacked up the notice on yet another bulletin board. A week of travel and she'd finally moved from city-state to city-state tacking up the notice anywhere she was allowed. "If this doesn't find someone to whip 'em into shape I'm gonna pull m' hair out..." She stuck the tack hammer back into her bag and started for home, eager to see the results of her efforts.

Reina watched as the man proudly held out his prize, turning at Miryn's voice only to just notice she'd fallen back to her rear once more and shook her head, "Nah, love y' fine. Not as though I did much!" She offered the woman her hand once more and smiled. Her gaze moved between the polite woman and the proud fool for a moment or two before her gaze narrowed on the man. Fishing pole still in hand she stepped toward him and swatted at the man, aiming to 'wap' him on the upper arm in a gentle but firm flick of the hand, "An' you! A fine job, m'arse!" Her hands moved to her hips as she scolded him, "The hells' wrong with you? Shovin' that pole int' the lass' hand! Y' coulda pulled her right under with that wee beast fightin' as it were." She barked out laugh, "Y' may owe th' lass a meal, lad!"

Reina's jaw gaped slightly at the situation before her. The pole being shoved into the stranger's hands as the lad bounded of into the water. If that fish didn't kill him she would certainly be happy to give him a swat or two. "-help!" Shaking herself from her thoughts she moved into the water with Miryn and attempted to remove the pole from her hand, "I got this, get outta the water." If allowed to hold the pole, she'd brace herself, taking a firm grip as whatever was on the end of the line fought to free itself of its tether. "Son.. of... a Sea Wolf! What'd he hook?"

Have I ever felt bad about something I've made my character do that falls in to how my character should and would behave? No. I have, however, been pissed off because something my character has said or done has driven someone from RP with me because that IC/OOC bleed starts for the other player and SometimesRudeBluntCharacterABC is now somehow Shannon. I understand that if a character is offended or bullied by another they're going to distance themselves from the offending character. Being around abrasive people isn't fun, I really do get that. Your character doesn't like being around a character that's so fluent in foul language, great! Be offended ICly and act accordingly, I'm fine with the IC consequences. However when the player refuses to let said offended character, or other alts, interact with an alt (of mine) because, "I'm in a bad place because you make my characters sad, I'd rather not involve myself with you." and then just completely ignores me and any interaction...screw you buddy, take the drama elsewhere. I'm an actor on a screen. Hate the character that's fine, don't hate -me-. If something my character has done or has brought up something within yourself that you have issues with, that's something your character needs to deal with ICly how they would. You could even take the route of sending a tell along the lines of, "Hey I know you're not aware, but I'm not really comfortable with jokes about dead parents, it's a little too real for me." While I can't say my character will be polite to yours she'll at least pull from another topic and we can go from there. Plus, I'll be happy to talk with you and look! Maybe we've made new friends OOCly!
