Wiki editor has been changed from this: [spoil][/spoil] To this: [spoil][/spoil] Please take note of the red square I made in the 2nd picture. You must log in and click that once before the new editor will load for you. After that, it should auto-load for all future editing purposes. You can switch back to the old editor by clicking it again. The old editor is the super old one since the slightly newer one wasn't compatible with this new editor. Also note that the new editor has limited options for some styles. For example, only Red and Blue Titles are an option under the Styles menu in order to save room. However, by clicking "Source" or by returning to the old editor, you can easily change the color through manual input to just about any color in existence ^^. Hope this update makes it even easier for the coding challenged to make their wiki pages! The new editor allows you to view your changes in real time without having to preview changes as well!

I remember you! Welcome back :cheer:

Sorry for the double post but forgot to mention more about the wiki editor I'm looking into. If you love/hate it, please let me know now. Here's a fully functional demo of the editor I'm looking into. Feel free to play around with it and let me know what you think. Also note that some of those buttons will be completely removed if this editor is used (such as "print, save, new page" and a couple other unneeded buttons). http://ckeditor.com/demo

Another update to the wiki. Most regular BBCodes will now work on it! That means a lot of the forum codes used here are now compatible with the wiki. Codes such as: [b]Bold text[/b] [u]Underline[/u] [color=#800000]Colored text[/color] [color=Red]Colored text[/color] While these kinds of codes were accomplished beforehand, they required a lot more complicated codes. For instance, to color text required this type of coding originally: Insert text here So now, editing wiki pages should be a bit simpler ^^. You can type your formatting on most forums and simply copy it over to the wiki. Please note that not all BBCodes are supported at this time (such as the regular forum image tag for example). But coloring and formatting text should be much easier now. Regular wiki formatting is still usable as well. Still looking into ways to redo the actual editor itself in the future.

SE has released an official alpha video showcasing the new Gridania. Take a peek for yourself!

Holy crap! It's a wild Tadir! ::Throws pokeball without hesitating:: Did I get 'em?!! Welcome back ^^. Yeah, we're all on Balmung now. Whether that remains true with A Realm Reborn remains to be seen though. The game's final save was on the 1st, which means nothing matters anymore. The 7th Umbral Era has begun (monsters attacking cities, eerie background field music, Garleans attacking, Dalamud closer than ever, etc). The official end is this upcoming Saturday. Alpha testing for ARR is currently underway as well.

The Mog Log from Massively Looks at FFXIV RP Community
Kylin replied to SamusKnight2K's topic in FFXIV News
All publicity is good publicity I suppose. I certainly don't agree with a couple points (especially how things went down--RP "etiquette" never equated to "universal standards" to be enforced, merely guides on a variety of topics). But it is what is. It's been over 2 years after all, so most of us don't remember or don't care to remember the details of that far back since things have changed drastically over that time frame and most of us have moved on. Regardless of what happens, we'll just carry on doing what matters most: RPing. I for one have been having more fun than ever this past year or so by making that the primary focus ^^ Aside from my disagreements with a couple things, good article. -
Broken Links in Gallery and Bazaar Tabs

Thank you for pointing this out! I never noticed it >.>. It has been fixed :cheer: -
Welcome! Just to let you know, the wiki profile you linked is on the OLD wiki. We've since moved it to an updated version. The wiki link in the top navigation bar is the new wiki. The old wiki is still listed in the drop down menu though if needed. I went ahead and transferred your profile to the new wiki. It just needs the picture re-uploaded. Just make sure all future edits are done on the NEW wiki ^^

Since everyone requested links to the various music used for the gala, here they all are~. These are all the YouTube links rather than the mp3s that were used since listing mp3s would be more difficult to do here. Lacking Deirdre's song but will add it to the list once she posts it. Listed in no particular order... 1. Terra's Theme (FF6, orchestra version): 2. Radical Dreamers (Chrono Cross, instrumental): 3. Answers (FFXIV, guitar solo): 4. Kokoro instrumental (Xenosaga): 5. Last of the Wilds (Nightwish): 6. Criminal instrumental (Britney Spears): 7. Alejandro instrumental (Lady Gaga): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZNqrLgLnjU 8. Thanks to everyone who came out! The event was a huuuge success. Also thanks to Deir for handling the live stream for music and thanks to Eva for handling the prayer session. And thanks to everyone else who helped make this event so smooth, despite the walls of texts everywhere. You all rocked! If anyone has any pictures/text logs/etc, don't hesitate to post them. Here's to more awesome RP in A Realm Reborn!

((OOC: Exactly like the Dalamud Cometh thread. Please feel free to post the aftermath of the Full Cold Moon event here ^^. For some, this may be their official exit story until ARR. For others, it could be a pre-exit story.)) Somewhere in Coerthas, under a cloudy sky where Dalamud lingers ominously⦠Kylin remained unconscious, sprawled out on the grassy field with slightly tattered clothes. Some blood covered his face and even more, not necessarily his own, covered his shredded clothing. A chocobo caravan slowly approached the injured hyur, the occupant in the back of the carriage leaping off before it even reached the young man. âMy darling son!â Cartius wasted no time running to his sonâs unconscious side, cradling him in his arms. He didnât seem bothered by his son's blood getting onto his own elegant red and white robes. The Felstar patriarch began to weep softly as he rocked his son back and forth in his arms, unwavering to the dirt beneath him which only further dirtied his expensive robes. The driver of the carriage and a single other occupant, obviously an attendant, rushed to their masterâs side. The two hyur stood in shock at the scene. Cartius gently stroked his sonâs bloodied face, tears streaming down the patriarchâs cheeks. âHow could this have happened. Oh, my darling boy. Donât die on me. You deserve the world. I shouldnât have waited so long for us to leave this gods-forsaken land. You deserve a better father. Iâm going to be a better father. So donât leave me.â One of the attendants glanced over his shoulder as a small group, three in number, of Garlean soldiers slowly approached the caravan. Their eyes widened in terror. They wasted no time dashing off in the direction of Ishgard, showing no regard for their master or his fallen son. Cartius issued a quick glare at the two men, shouting at them. âCome back! Help my son you cowards!â Cartius returned his attention to his son as the Garleans approached the two. The Felstar patriarch continued gazing lovingly at his unconscious son, the manâs ruby ring beginning to glisten faintly as the Garleans slowly approached⦠================================== Vertigo dashed quickly through Coerthas, following the caravanâs trail. The masked miqoâte had seen the meteor strike near the galaâs location and feared the worst. She hadnât even had time to stop Cartius from heading in that direction as soon as he learned that Garleans were spotted marching toward the area. In the distance, she could spot the stopped caravan. She dashed with more determination toward it. As she approached it, Cartius came into view. Along with him, she could see Kylin lying on the ground, seemingly unconscious. A sense of dread overcame the miqoâte as she hurried to them. The small pile of dead Garleans, their bodies seeming scorched badly, made her stop in her tracks, unsure how to react at first. Shaking off the surprise, she approached her masters. âLord Cartius! Is heâ¦?â Cartius carefully scooped his son into his arms and carried him to the caravan, gently placing him into the carriage as he spoke. âHeâll survive. My boy needs proper medical attention quickly though. Can you drive us back to Ishgard?â Vertigo nodded, quickly hopping up into the driverâs seat as Cartius climbed into the back with his son. The carriage began itâs journey back to the city, leaving behind the Garlean bodies. Kylin stirred faintly, muttering in an almost inaudible and weary voice. ââ¦Gerikâ¦â âRest my son,â Cartius spoke in as soothing a voice he could muster. âWhen you awake, weâll be somewhere safe. Vertigo, when we get to the cityâ¦gather the family and prepare the ship. We leave Eorzea immediately.â

Public reminder: This is tomorrow!!! Please be sure to read the OP and the pre-event notes I posted above this post to help set the scene. Please note, I will /ask/ that all attendees take a Backstage pearl at least for the duration of the event. Should you wish to drop the pearl afterward, that's completely up to you. But I will need to give some OOC communication at times and this is the best way to do so. If you do not have or do not take the pearl, that is also your choice. But communication will be difficult, as I'm not going to send tons of tells to repeat myself. On this same note, I /ask/ that OOC chatter over the pearl be kept to a minimum if possible. With the spam of /say chat, nobody is going to want to see an additional spam of /ls chat. The event area will be large enough for people to split up as needed to avoid too much /say congestion. The first 90 minutes or so will be largely mingling (along with a prayer session and "performances). There will be a live stream for music during the event, as there is ICly an orchestra there. I will be unavailable in game until about an hour prior to the event (work FTL).

4 more days! If you have a track (instrumental) that you'd like to hear on the live stream playlist during the gala, let me know immediately please!

Greetings fellow Rpers! With the apocalypse just days away, weâve all got our plates pretty full at the moment. I want to take this moment to thank all of you wonderful people for the memories made these past two years (good or bad) and issue a pep talk for the future. While there were times I was personally tempted to jump ship from the game due to its own flaws, Iâm so glad that I never truly wavered and stuck with it all. Itâs been an absolute pleasure Rping with all of you and I look forward to the new and even more amazing adventures in A Realm Reborn! With the game about to come down, itâs time to look to the future. A number of things have transpired this past month or so, events that not all of us agree with. But weâll truck forward just like we did in the past. Weâve got almost three years of history behind us that have only strengthened us in the end. There are those who wish to wash away some old âstigmaâ from the RPCâs past. But hereâs the thing: that negativity is what made us grow stronger and shows that weâre capable of surviving anything. Itâs not some bad skin that needs to be shed. The past isnât something to be shunned, but embraced so that people can learn from it for the present and future. After all, one canât have growth without surviving conflict first. And the RPC has grown exponentially in various different ways considering the state of version 1.0. Iâve already spoken to a number of current and future RP LS leaders. They have been gracious enough to promise their continued support for the RPC. After speaking with these leaders and listening carefully to them, itâs clear that a large portion of the community is content on the current path weâre on now. Of course, as in any community, we canât satisfy everyone. All we can do is try our best in making an environment that is conductive to RP of all calibers. And so far, I think itâs safe to assume we have that track record. Just look at all the various public events weâve had over the years! Fashion shows, campfire stories, tavern nights, epic storylines, galas, mercenary missions, charity work, training sessionsâ¦the list goes on and on! We truly are blessed to have such a wonderful community overall that's focused on what matters most to us in this game: Role-Play! There are those who say âthe RPC is dead! Look how few post there!â First of all, weâre not dead. Statistically, the number of hits our site is getting has been increasing rather than decreasing. In addition, the in game RP community is more or less dead at the moment itself. Most people have left the game, waiting for A Realm Reborn to launch before returning. Furthermore, a lot of these Rpers here are spending the majority of their time in game as opposed to on forums, talking over the Backstage pearl and/or Rping on a consistent basis. These things considered, the RPC is doing just fine in the present times and is serving its purpose as it was originally intended. An observation Iâve made over time is that the loudest complainers are often the ones who seldom bothered to even contribute to begin with. Should one actually contribute to a cause and be an actual part of the active community, the rest falls into place like clockwork. So if you find yourself complaining, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Sitting on the sidelines and crying about it helps nobody. Get in the game (figuratively and literally) and make a difference yourself. To sum up this miniature pep talk, The RPC has a rich history that includes the good and the bad. Everyone is welcome to take part of anything that goes on here, whether that includes posting or attending events. Nobody has ever been run out or excluded. Those who choose to leave only do so on their own volition. To wrap this up, Iâll say it again. Many of us are content with the path weâre on now. Members of the RPC are constantly Rping in game and we have a track record that speaks for itself. And thatâs what itâs all about. We are a ROLE-PLAY coalition after all ^^. The site itself could use some touch-ups, but people are already volunteering to do just that. Again, thank you all for the wonderful version 1.0 times. Sorry the pep talk got a little longer than expected. But hereâs a big toast to A Realm Reborn! May our adventures beâ¦adventurous? . Please feel free to share some of your best memories here of version 1.0! ~Kylin Felstar [bBvideo 650,450]http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/tribute/RPC_Tribute.wmv[/bBvideo]

Moderators simply keep an eye on the forums and make sure none of the rules are broken. Their biggest task is likely deleting posts from spam bots as they come (gil sellers, etc), moving threads to the appropriate places, and keeping important threads updated. The important thing for moderators is that they visit the forums frequently (preferably daily if able). Moderators ideally should also take the initiative in posting news in the Headlines if other users have not done so first. Keeping the forums active while ensuring as non-bias of an opinion as possible is generally a good thing as well. I'm not sure I really want to redesign the entire site from scratch. It's taken a long time and a lot of hard work to get it where it is now function-wise. I'm pretty content with the overall layout and user interface, though I'm open to suggestions of course. The only thing changes really necessary are purely graphical (banner, background, colors, etc) The aforementioned teaser site for linkshells/companies is something that requires from the ground up building though. So that may be right up your alley, Deir (and no, not the alley you're thinking of!). Preferably something flashy, but simple as well. This was our last teaser site: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/guildteasers

[align=center][/align] The end is a week away and now it's almost time to focus on new beginnings! The RPC, approaching its 3 anniversary in February, will soon be in full overdrive mode for preparing for A Realm Reborn. Below are some things already in planning. Please offer any feedback or additional things youâd like to see to make this a continued thriving hub for role-players! --Graphics used on the site will be overhauled. This includes the banner, the background image, and colors. The overall structure and layout of the site will remain unchanged. Blade is, to my understanding, working on a new logo. A new background image is still necessary and nobody has volunteered for that. However, one may wish to work with Blade in this to ensure the background and logo match each other in colors/contrast. --The Guild Hall will be purged. This is being done for a couple of reasons. 1: It's hard to truly know whoâs active or plans to be active in ARR. 2: Almost all of the data listed is outdated anyway and this will force linkshells to update everything. All original posts will be saved for some time in the Chronicles subsection so if thereâs any info someone needs to rebuild their post, that won't be a problem. --An aggressive ad campaign will be underway when the time is right! To compliment this, we will be echoing our previous ad campaign used in the past by creating a teaser site for known ARR RP linkshells. If you wish to have a hand designing said teaser site, please speak up! --Working on syncing up the calendar sidebar on the front page with the one on the forums. --Forum section names may be changed to something more simplistic for ease of usage. For instance, Hydaelyn Observatory ---> Final Fantasy XIV Discussion, etc. Feedback on this is encouraged. --Addition of new moderators and removal of MIA/inactive ones. Who thinks they're up to the task? --Considering changing the "Website" column in the member list to a Lodestone character link column. In addition to this, I may add a means via your user profile to add a main character's name to your posts (such as how one's linkshell is displayed). --Please help expand the myriad of lore on the wiki. There's plenty there already but a number of pages are still lacking in pictures, detail, and so on! It's easier than ever to /add/ new pages as well with the new simple to use interface. In addition, don't forget to update your character's profile after November 11th! Remember that we're about to fast-forward five whole years! Well...maybe not all of us --Planning with member linkshell leaders the Eorzean Olympics via the Leaders' forum section. This will hopefully launch within our anniversary AND ARR's launch, offering a large myriad of RP events right from the launch of the game! What better way to help reunite people after being in stasis all this time while at the same time celebrating three years of having successfully united the RP community on Besaid/Balmung, eh!? --Journal/blog section. Please offer feedback on how you'd like to see this in the appropriate thread. --Rebirth of a myriad of RP discussions during the server downtime to foster healthy discussions between RPers. Please give feedback on any of the above you feel the need to and offer your own suggestions not listed here.
