Hai guys! This is literally one week (7 days at the time of this post) away! So here are some pre-event notes to keep in mind for the event. --IC fliers in the OP are posted at bulletin boards throughout the city-states (such as in the Adventurer's Guild). That should go without saying but I had some people ask about that so I figured I'd at least say so here. --Location is OOCly at Falcon's Nest south of Camp Riversmeet. IC, however, it is NOT the hamlet itself (in order to safeguard SE lore when havoc is wreaked). It is being treated as an instanced area NEAR the hamlet and is private property of House Felstar. The journey to the location is semi-dangerous (level 45ish mobs) so be cautious and/or travel in groups. --Upon arrival, please assume that a lot of NPC adventurers are present at the event as well. Feel free to use any of these NPCs as you wish throughout the event. It is also safe to assume that some of them are likely Garlean spies in disguise ^.~ --At the site is a circle of crystalline statues of the Twelve. The color of the crystal for each deity will be that of the elemental color they are. For example, Nald'Thal is of the fire element and his crystal statue will thus be red. The statues are a tad taller than the tallest roegadyn. --Please avoid God mode tactics during this event. There will be "fighting" involved, though your character certainly doesn't have to be involved in the said fighting since there will be plenty of hardy adventurers present to do so. Do not use super mega spells to wipe out entire mobs of enemies. Try to be "realistic," especially considering our characters are bound to be weakened after the first disaster. --Following the catalyst for the action, teleportation will not be possible in the immediate event area. This will be explained ICly at the appropriate time. --There will be a total of FOUR threats we'll be facing down, the first of which will serve the catalyst for the following three. So there will be tons of non-stop action. They're all going to pretty much be piled on top of each other almost simultaneously and largely be connected to current events in game. Prior to this will be about 60-90 minutes of mingling, the prayer session, and a brief 'vote' for best dressed male and female. --You will have a choice between three paths in the event. You can either stick through the entire event with the "escape group" or you can opt to be teleported to a random location to RP your own stuff out after a certain point (will be announced on Backstage). Alternatively, you can attempt to "escape" on your own via a route different than the group's, though this path will likely only work if you have your own individual plans for the event.

It's a very pretty website. Good luck ^^

There are a couple of blog addons out there for phpbb. But I'm unsure if that's what people want. The mods would essentially link to another sector of the forum (like the calendar/gallery/classifieds do). On that section would be the front page showing recent journals and so on. The journals themselves are listed exactly as the news on the RPC home page is--most recent topic first with all older ones below it. Is this what you mean? It's not exactly too different from a forum section, save for being on a different page from the forums, being in reverse order, and listing recent entries via a navigation menu. Alternatively, there's also the option to install WordPress on a separate section of the server like the wiki. However, I doubt this option would be a good idea because it would require people to visit yet another "site" to check on updates. Most people like to just come straight to the forums, see what's new, and then go on their merry way. Putting something in a separate area from the forum completely may detract attention from that simple n' easy route. Yet another alternative (though I think people said they don't want this even though it's essentially the same as the forum mod) is to simply add a forum category for journals and then set that particular section up so new posts show on top of each other.

Bump to remind everyone that this is in less than 2 weeks! I have some volunteers to perform as bards and whatnot, but still have no volunteers for cooks or guards. Cooks can be done without I suppose and we can just pretend there's lots of food there or whatever. Guards however...well, this is one event where they'll likely do more than just stand around. Remember that a lot of tensions exist between some of the current characters and there's likely to be some scuffles when they finally come face-to-face at this event. And then we can't forget about the actual action that comes after the mingling  I'd also appreciate it if someone was able to create a music live stream for the event. This stream will not of course include the individual performances of some characters but there's bound to be NPC bands playing music throughout the event and I'm not really experienced in creating such streams. More updates to come in time!

Added spoiler tag capabilities to the wiki. Please note at this time, there is no spoiler button in the wiki editor window. You have to use the code manually for now since it'll take me some time to add the button properly. Simply surround your text with this code: text here

I'll be one of the people who plans to age the character by five years (I've already adjusted his present age in accordance with these plans). Events following the Full Cold Moon event this month will result in Ky's disappearance more or less. He (not by choice) will be leaving Eorzea with House Felstar to get away from the coming conflict.

New update for the wiki! Adding new pages has been simplified drastically. An option has been added to simply add a page to the category you're currently in. For example: If you wish to add a new holiday to the wiki, you may simply navigate to the "Holidays" category and add the new page by simply typing the name of the page and then "submit." See picture below. Please note that the old method of adding pages (via searching, clicking red link, and manually adding categories) is still possible as well. But this new method is a huge step forward for the wiki illiterate :ugeek: EDIT: Prior to the launch of ARR, I hope to have some smaller updates to the wiki to make it even easier to use. Particularly, I'm hoping to edit the wiki editor further (you'll notice it has changed recently already) to include basic BBcodes and colorizing features similar to the forums. As another mini announcement, the "Bazaar" has been added to the navigation link and removed from the list of forums.

The feeling thermometer is a little exercise that will be conducted every few months. Its purpose is to give people a chance to "rate" how their character feels toward other characters at a given period of time. The ratings range from -5 (intense dislike/distrust) to 5 (intense like/trust). 0 is complete neutrality. Please note that this information should not be used for metagaming purposes. Since this data is the first of many future such exercises, the data is subject to evolve over time as well. This data represents only IC feelings and does not reflect OOC feelings. Below is data for Kylin. Feel free to add your character's data as well! Kylin's Feeling Thermometer: The following criteria was used to include a character in my own data: 1. The character is not a member of Crystalline. Crystalline members have a separate feeling thermometer on their forums. I may edit this post to copy/paste their results at a later time if I feel like it. 2. Kylin has actually met the character at least once. If I have never met you ICly, I have not included the character in this data. 3. The character has had semi-recent activity. Characters who have been MIA for prolonged periods of time are not included in this data, despite the fact that their scores may be quite interesting...Hopefully I didn't miss anyone though! [spoil]Ariel: {3} Holding a great deal of respect for Ariel, Kylin has had a difficult time winning over her good graces, or at least he believes so. Her being severely injured during the House Mavanix investigations has caused Kylin to feel a large amount of guilt for her present day condition. Blade: {1} Kylin has only seen Blade person-to-person on two occasions. Blade is likeable enough, but Kylin remains somewhat jealous of his proximity to Gerik. Deirdre: {-2} Kylin has only actually seen Deirdre person-to-person an entire two times, but holds little trust for her. Her interest in Gerik makes Kylin uneasy and even somewhat jealous. She's also endangered Gerik by being a target of Ysa. Endemerrin: {2} An old Outer Heaven comrade, Kylin liked Endemerrin well enough. He found the hyur to actually be somewhat attractive, both in physical traits as well as the 'knightly' persona. Gospel: {2} Another old Outer Heaven comrade, Kylin holds great respect towards Gospel and has positive views on him. Since Outer Heaven's fall, the two have grown quite distant however. Leanna: {3} Kylin doesn't know Leanna too well overall. However, her dedication to and assistance in the House Mavanix investigations helped her gain great respect from the young man. Remilia: {2} Same as Gospel, Remi is a former comrade of Kylin's from his Outer Heaven days. The two have grown extremely distant as of late though. Riku: {3} Kylin doesn't know Riku very well overall. However, his dedication to and assistance in the House Mavanix investigations helped him gain great respect from Kylin. Seohyun: {2} Kylin mostly liked Seohyun right off the bat. She seemed like the type of person he could see himself hanging out with on a regular basis, despite her 'mockery' of one of Kylin's outfits. She has since vanished though and the two have no contact with one another. Shara: {2} Kylin likes and respects Shara well enough, but doesn't know her nearly as well as he'd like to. Ysa: {-4} Having been "attacked" by Ysa, Kylin obviously hold no trust or like for the woman in the slightest. Having attacked his friends as well only adds fuel to the fire. Kylin has even considered sending the Felstar 'assassin,' Vertigo, after the woman but as of yet has not bothered to follow through. Yssen: {2} Kylin respects Yssen a good deal for the most part, but is flustered easily by him anytime he's critical of Ky's father or family. He sees Yssen's criticism as hypocrytical due to Yssen's sister's behavior.[/spoil]

Original post has been edited with IC details! (and some ominous music just to set the tone for the event  ) If you wish to contribute as a bard, cook, or guard, just PM me or contact me in game.

Update for those not watching the official forums/announcements closely. The video was temporarily been taken down for a bit. The trailer was widely criticized for choppiness/low frame rate at certain spots. According to Yoshida, the trailer plays fine at the Tokyo Game Show. The choppiness seems to merely be caused by being converted to a YouTube video and is in no way related to the game itself. The video has been reuploaded without the lag now. As for the difference in graphical quality compared to the Live Letter video, this video is apparently based on an older build of 2.0. The Live Letter was based on the newer build.

This event shouldn't have any direct impact on individual plans for characters. If anything, it'll possibly reinforce one's plans if they so choose to. That said, I do know that this event will be the last appearance of numerous characters (myself included most likely) until 2.0. But if people still have other plans, this event won't impact those plans much at all.

New FFXIV trailer revealed at Tokyo Game Show.

Most of the details are hammered out. The IC flier will be up in about a week or so most likely. Like the last Full Cold Moon ball that happened sooo long ago, we'll need some chefs, guards, and bards to volunteer to help. Time-wise, it'll likely be around 7ish pm EST for the start. The only thing lacking is a location. I've been back and forth on it and can't come to a decision. Still being over a month away, I'm not too worried about that though. However, any ideas would be appreciated ^^. Due to the nature of the event, I've come to the conclusion that hosting the gala inside a city would probably be a bad idea. With destruction coming to the event, it would be difficult to RP destroying an entire section of a city. There's no telling what SE has planned for the city-states so instead I'm aiming to host the event somewhere in the outside field. I've considered one of the Vigils in Coerthas, but there are level 45+ mobs way too close to all of them and could cause a lot of interruptions to RP. I've also considered the little clearing next to Moonshire Grove in the Shroud (where the decorated stage is located), but the stage isn't even accessible and there's nothing really special about the place aside from the closed off stage . I've also considered using a hamlet for the site but that would require reigning down IC destruction on said hamlet. And while a better alternative than a city-state, it's still a little risky to go that route lore-wise.

Kylin exited the phrontistery, carefully tucking his bag of vial-filled medication into his bigger bag. He pulled the hood of his cowl back over his head before returning to the lower streets of Ulâdah. He always felt nervous returning to his hometown. He was still technically wanted for questioning for the House Mavanix downfall after all, though it seems as though authorities were thankfully far more preoccupied with the Garlean threat to worry about such investigations. His father had requested he not return to Ulâdah ever again, but it was the only place he could acquire his medication. Sure, he could have easily hired someone to acquire and deliver it on his behalf. But the allure of the desert city was still too much for the young noble to resist. As Kylin walked past the chocobo stables, he couldnât help but see a small crowd gathering just down the street from it. The small assembly was surrounding a shouting hyur figure in rags. His disheveled hair and dirt stained face indicated that the man was either extremely poor or had seen better days. âRepent!â The figure shouted to the group. âRepent and the gods shall save you! In their fury, they have given the Garleans the deadly hound of Menphina! Repent and the goddess shall surely reign in her beast and shower us in her everlasting love!â A few members of the small crowd nodded and shouted in agreement as several others in the assembly rolled their eyes and carried on with whatever they were doing prior to investigating the scene of action. Kylin continued to watch the preacher for another moment, secretly wondering if prayer alone would be enough. Upon arriving at the city gates, he had witnessed one noble family leaving the city entirely via caravan, their destination known only to them. Not everyone had the same blind faith as this preacher, fleeing for somewhere they deemed may be safe. Maybe that was the smart move, maybe not. Dalamud could fall anywhere after all. He had only partially admitted it to Gerik so far, but Kylin was indeed terrified as well. He wasnât ready to die. And he wasnât sure how to proceed to prevent such a fate. Those who vowed to fight were surely delusional. How could one battle against a celestial moon of all things? This battle was a losing one. Nothing short of a miracle would be substantial enough to turn the tide, so perhaps the ragged preacher was on to something. His father and stepmother had assured Kylin time and again that all would be fine, though he could tell that even they were afraid. He never thought heâd see the day but his father, the mighty Cartius Felstar himself, was actually afraid. Kylin knew this because his father was already preparing escape plans in case things got ugly. The Felstarâs private airship had been quietly prepared to take the family and leave at a momentâs notice if necessary. The hyur sighed inwardly, turning and heading for the city gate to leave the city. When push came to shove, he wasnât sure what heâd do. He was petrified. As if taking the preacherâs advice, Kylin said a silent prayer as he exited the city.

((Ominous music to set the mood just 'cuz )) http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/NoxArcana-LabyrinthOfDreams.mp3 OOC Details: [spoil]When: October 28th, 7pm EST. Event to last into the night, though the action will begin around 8:30pm EST. Where: Falcon's Nest hamlet in Coerthas (Camp Riversmeet is closest camp). This location is OOC only. IC'ly, it will be utilized as an instanced type of area--a private piece of property of House Felstar's. What: What will start as an elegant gala meant to unite adventurers and scholars for prayer and/or brainstorming for the coming Garlean threat will take a deadly turn as a two-prong disaster strikes the gathering area midway through the event. These disasters will be a fun way for us to RP at least some of the 7th Umbral Era content in game. It can also help set the stage for whatever you plan for your characters to do prior to the November server shut down. Perhaps the disasters/loss of life at this event will further solidify one's plans to fight in whatever battle SE is planning. Or perhaps the event will further solidify one's plans to run away from the coming battle and not look back. The event will leave a tremendous amount of freedom for characters to do as they wish and not force any particular ending on anyone. Character reactions and interactions will be the absolute center focus of everything. This event will likely serve as a catalyst for some people starting to get separated as well (some pearls may get destroyed/lost in the chaos if people so choose, etc). To sum up, this event will be meant to serve as the "beginning of the end" and should be loads of fun for all who decide to attend. Look forward to our last IC days together as the apocalypse draws near![/spoil]

Heh, it's okay. I think you thought I was talking about the wiki when I was actually talking about the Directory forum section. Whereas I thought you were talking about Directory posts and not the wiki. Glad it's at least straightened out now ^^;
-
Yeah, I'm only planning to delete old wiki/Archive section profiles that have completely been transferred to the new wiki. Anything else will be saved in an administrator section so returning players can request to access their old stuff if necessary. Character sheets are a completely different issue compared to Directory profiles, as I'm aware people put a lot of hard work into those

I'll say it again since it doesn't seem to be sinking in. I put up warnings long in advance. Look at the date of this thread. And I posted in YOUR thread a week before it was deleted. It said something along the lines of "if you're still active, speak up before this thread gets nuked." You didn't speak up. Until an hour after it all happened. Go figure. Ironically, you're responding back and forth to this thread rather quickly but yet couldn't respond to a post I made over a week ago asking if you were still active. /sighs. Also, please quit speaking on behalf of "everyone else." By the looks of it, you've only just now digested this news and have had zero time to talk to "tons of other pissed off people." Again, sorry for the inconvenience. But these particular profiles aren't exactly that hard to make, unlike wiki/archive profiles. They're just incredibly basic questions that can be redone in 5 minutes. I just redid mine in fact in about 10 minutes. No need to make so much drama over something so minor. I could understand if there was no notice. Or if it was a more detailed profile like you see on the wiki or in the Archives section.
-
Your "Character Sheet"is fine. You do realize that, right? Your wiki profile is untouched, as is whatever you have in the archives. The purge only went for "player sheets." That is the, "what kind of roleplayer are you" type things. Those aren't that hard to remake...
-
You do realize I posted a WEEK in advance in each thread that was believed to have inactive players, right? Plenty of notice was given and had I been told in advance, the thread would have been spared the deletion. I've gone to great lengths to publicize all of these cleanups and if people simply ignore those updates, there's not much I can do about it. Sorry for the inconvenience though, at any rate. EDIT: As an added tidbit, the chosen purged ones weren't chosen because the sheets themselves were inactive. They were chosen because the /players/ who posted said sheet were believed to be inactive.
-
Directory has been mostly purged of inactive individuals now. A new format and updated index have been added. Please take the time to update your details when you get a chance! The format was cleaned up a bit and some things were removed due to simply being redundant/unnecessary. The directory can now be used to announce absences, seek feedback on characters, or seek out help for storylines/character roles. Please see the new sticky there for further details. Please note that the index sticky is based on user forum names. It is highly advised that you request to have your user name changed to better match your in game name to avoid confusion and allow people to research your characters with more ease. This is not a requirement, but it will help YOU a lot if people can actually connect the poster to the characters in game easier. I will bring up the topic of username changes again closer to the launch of A Realm Reborn. Simply contact me with the request and it'll be done within 12 hours. My next focus will be the Archives. ALL posts here will be purged. I will start slowly deleting the ones that are already on the wiki. But should anything not be transferred within a month or two, it will be perma-deleted. The Archives will then be set up as a direct link to the wiki's list of characters.
-
Updated with newly posted format.
-
The Directory section has two intended purposes: 1. To display relevant information about each RPer's views, styles, and character information. This information should be located in the first post of the individual's thread and can be updated at any time for any reason by the individual. 2. To serve as a personal bulletin board. This type of usage includes using the thread to seek out others to play important roles in an individual storyline, gather feedback on characters, or announce an extended absence/return. These types of posts should be located within the individual's single thread after the initial directory post. These posts can be cleaned up at any time by requesting a moderator to delete old posts when necessary. You may modify the below template however you wish. Please link your wiki profile to your character list if one exists.
