  1. The Margarah chapter of the House Mavanix/Avalon mini-epic will focus on a major internal house struggle between the matriarch's (Elza) supporters and supporters of Nina and Kalara Mavanix. Margarah, the fashion/merchant sector of House Mavanix, is attempting to break away from the house entirely as per the article posted in the Tonberry's Lantern. This event will be quite similar to the fashion contest hosted by Outer Heaven last year, though with a very different and slightly more serious IC angle to it. About three in game events are planned for this. Two will be preparation events and the third will be the big fashion showdown itself. I'm hoping to gather a lot of support for this as I'm sure it'll be quite fun for all involved parties. Elza's side will consist of a more liberal mindset whereas Nina and Kalara's side will consist of a more conservative mindset. If nothing else, this will serve as a wonderful opportunity to create some mild IC conflict by exposing different character beliefs in fashion/politics. Below is a tentative schedule: Tentative Schedule: [spoil]I have a lot of people asking me about the schedule so here's a tentative one (subject to change depending on my work schedule and the schedules of others). Locations and other details to be revealed later via IC correspondence and fliers. Yes, it starts this week but if it's too short notice for too many people, I can possibly push it back another week to an extent. I purposely tried my best to leave the weekend alone for fear it would conflict with LS events. Friday, April 13th around 6-9pm EST: Preliminary preparation event #1. Two separate events will be held back to back, one for each team. Judges are welcome to attend either, both, or neither in order to ensure all rules are upheld. Models themselves should TRY their best to attend, barring any other commitments. Monday, April 16th around 6-9 pm EST: Preliminary prep event #2. This will involve a public auction of sorts to buy certain high class wares for the showdown, so ANYONE is welcome to attend this. Just keep in mind that it's an event held by the upper class of Ul'dah and so there will be a lot of stuffy nobles roaming about as NPCs . Saturday, April 21st around 6-9pm EST: Fashion Showdown. This will be the actual event and all judges and participants should arrive as early as possible ("fashionably late" is not very fashionable for something like this ). Obviously, this is all coming rather quickly. Pushing it back further will be extremely difficult since people have plans at the very end of the month and/or the beginning of the month. Plus, 1.22 could interfere with the schedule if it gets pushed back any further. IC recruitment for some still has to happen ASAP. If you have not been approached IC about any of this, send me a tell (Kylin Mavanix) in game immediately. I'll be on most of today and Thursday and will try to keep myself open for RP scenes. Also, still need someone to host the showdown event. Another judge or two may be needed as well [/spoil] Roles Filled/Needed: Judges: Those who will have a non-bias view in the competition and judge each side's contestants based on their fashion sense. Judges will be hired by Margarah and will ICly be agreed upon by both team leaders. 4/3 (backups desired as well) slots filled (Eva, Miyu, and Xenedra) Kyri as backup. Announcer: 0/1 (backup desired as well) slots filled Contestants: Those who will actually wear the outfits on stage before the judges. [glow=blue]Team Avalon (Elza's team)--[/glow] 3/3 Slots filled (Everwatch members) [glow=red]Team Margarah (Nina and Kalara's team)--[/glow] 4/3 Slots filled (Aysun, Yssen, Calico, Dralid) + extras in case 1 or more can't show. Unknown: Azreiel, Mali Audience members: Anyone and everyone is welcome to be a spectator of the "duel." If interested in serving any of these roles, please post and we'll work out the IC details afterwards. If your character is a mercenary type, perhaps you'd be hired with lots of gil to wear and display the team's chosen outfits. Or maybe your character just loves fashion and would jump at this chance to show their stuff. This fashion showdown will determine who maintains control over Margarah and again, it's a great opportunity for mild IC conflict between differing character fashion/political viewpoints! Basic Structure: 3 total rounds, unless a victor is declared prior to. One team to be declared victor at end of each round. Models will strut across the stage one at a time, one team at a time. 3 models, possibly differing in each round, will be displayed per team, per round. A brief intermission (10-15 minutes) will be held between rounds for models to change outfits. A point system will not (officially) be used, though individual judges may utilize one for their own reference. After making comments, judges will simply award their vote to one team or the other for each round. Whichever team is awarded the most votes wins the entire round. Judges will have access to an extensive list of rules (ICly, not OOCly) and will ensure that each team remains within the framework provided. Winner of the duel, in accordance with the contract between House Mavanix and Margarah, will take full control over the Margarah business.
  2. [spoil]IC responses are welcome. Forgive the shoddy appearance of this, especially the text formatting >.>. Still lacking a decent template. To view image at 100% properly, click to enlarge, then click the expand size button next to the "close" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the image.[/spoil]
  3. The coding has zero bearing over cookies refreshing. That's 100% web browsers. If you keep getting old images from the old site design (like I did for awhile), there's a way to delete all cookies related to this site manually (either by clicking the delete cookies link at the bottom of the home AND forum page or by going directly through your browser and deleting the ffxiv-roleplayers folder in the cookies list). Alothia, which browser do you use? Can you please provide a screenshot of how the banner looks? If the problem hasn't resolved itself yet, can you take a quick peek at this phpbb template? Do the three banner images line up correctly on it for you? http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=425 I'm a bit surprised at some of the 'hate' toward the color scheme/images, especially considering I asked for feedback/help multiple times over a month ago (along with an actual screenshot of the forum index page rough draft) in the Lounge and received very little feedback then. Text colors will continue to be tweaked as necessary, though I see no issue with any of the images or overall colors, and no "pixilation" on my end (unless you mean the sides of the scroll, which is designed that way to give a lighting effect until a shadow effect can be added). Cursor: Option to have/not have is not possible through a phpbb coding standpoint. It either has to be one way or another >.>. Rainbow text: I'll (reluctantly) remove it when I find a prominent means to display text while hovering over it. Loading: It's not really that much more image heavy than the old site design. The borders surrounding everything caused a lot of memory issues then too. The scroll and background /are/ a bit more heavy in loading than the previous backgrounds though. I don't know how much more I can optimize them but I'll try. On a final note, and I don't mean to sound defensive, but saying things like "I wouldn't open it up at work" or comparing the site to Twilight stuff are kinda rude ways to get a point across in my opinion. Yoshi-P put it best in one of his semi-recent posts on the Japenese forums--encouragement will cause me to move heaven and earth to satisfy the community. Insults, on the other hand, can cause one to stop caring. But thank you all for the feedback nonetheless.
  4. Welcome back! It's possible your old account was deleted in this recent update (or the last one). Any accounts that hadn't logged in for a certain amount of period were deleted. So that may be why you had problems trying to log in. Either way, always nice to see people return. I assume your lack of activity is related to the game's state at launch? If so, it's definitely improving quite a bit with each patch. Personally, however, I still tell people I know to wait until 2.0 simply because of the map redesign (which I think is a /huge/ deal by itself to give a more vibrant atmosphere).
  5. I haven't been satisfied with the registered users color myself either. So I'll keep on playing around with that until I find a happy medium. Took me a bit to find a good blue hue for moderators that I'm content with (Admin color may still be a bit bright as well...). Other suggestions are of course welcome, though just don't get too crazy with anything
  6. Please report any unlisted bugs you may see here, graphical or otherwise. About 85% of the site's files have been changed and as such, there's no doubt going to be some hiccups here and there. Other feedback is welcome as well, as some modifications can be made if enough demands are made. Just be nice about it . I slaved quite a bit over all of this A number of things will continue to be tweaked over time. The scroll background will likely have a shadow effect added to better flow with the background image. The background image itself will also be tweaked. I had planned to add a flier above the paladin's head to spruce up that part but it turned out badly so I'm waiting on that a bit. I also intended to add a black mage lalafell /behind/ the scroll for the times the site may load slowly in order to give the viewer something nice to look at. But the blm image turned out to not look too great on it so I'm holding off on that a bit longer too. Some text colors may need brightened a bit more as well.
  7. ItĂ¢s finally here~. The new site design is officially live with all its fancy goodness. More minor alterations (in coding and images) will continue to be made over time through ninja edits and the like. But for now, take a gander at the new shiny look! Be sure to refresh your browser a couple times for all of the graphical elements to reload properly. You may have to refresh multiple times on different pages for a short time until your browser fully updates cookies. I apologize for the delay and for how long the site was down today. There are some things I'm still tweaking as I write this (such as the linkshell section colors, sticky updates, etc). :tonberry: Domain name and web space has been renewed for another year! :tonberry: The forum color scheme and overall appearance has seen a drastic overhaul. Please refresh your browser in any circumstance that something seems Ă¢off.Ă¢ If refreshing doesnĂ¢t fix it, please report it. More than one refresh may be needed in some areas. For your reference, the site /should/ look like the below images (save for some minor tweaks since these are pics of the test forum) so long as your Internet browsers are up-to-date. Depending on feedback, tweaks may still be made. For instance, the use of two different borders depending on the page (brown borders for posts and content, and green/beige for tables) may be changed to only one type of border if people feel the use of both is out of place. Forum main page: [spoil][/spoil] Post page: [spoil][/spoil] Control panel: [spoil][/spoil] :tonberry: New buttons have been added for new topics, replying, etc. In addition, numerous icons throughout the forum have been changed/updated. These may require refreshing the page to load properly. :tonberry: Forum categories can now be collapsed/expanded upon a single click. When logged in, these settings will be saved no matter what computer/ISP address you log in from. :tonberry: Zam tooltip support has been added. Simply add a link to an item in the Zam database and hovering over it will allow for the item to pop up on your screen. It should be noted that Yellow Gremlin tooltip support is also still usable. :tonberry: Hovering over links (image links included) have a much more visible effect now, including rainbow colors (for text) and slight movement (text and images). The sole exception for this are the banner images, which will remain in a static position. :tonberry: New navigation buttons have been added, along with fancy hover effects! :tonberry: Certain navigational items have been relocated for better visibility, such as searching active/unread posts, marking forums read, etc. :tonberry: The following users have been given moderator status: Rain, Sha. :tonberry: A recent events block has been added to the sidebar. As such, events will no longer display at the top of the forums. At this point in time, the calendar block on the main page differs from the one on the forum index due to coding complexities. The calendar on the home page is NOT in sync with the actual calendar itself and can only be edited by administration. However, I will keep it updated as soon as a new event is posted until it can be synced with the calendar itself. The recent events block on the forum index is in sync and will appear as normal when any user adds an event. :tonberry: The signature box in the user profile page has been merged into another box for a cleaner look. As a similar move, the "image description" box in the gallery's view image page has been merged with the "image details" box for a cleaner look. :tonberry: Users will now have an Ă¢onlineĂ¢ icon show up when they are currently online. The icon can be found in the userĂ¢s posts, profile page, and in their private messages. :tonberry: The Users box has been merged into the Statistics box at the bottom of the forums. :tonberry: A Ă¢LikeĂ¢ mod has been added. You must be logged in to use it. You can find the like button in the row along with the Ă¢quoteĂ¢ post button, etc. I will hopefully ninja edit the icon in the near future to make it stand out more. Likes given and received will display in the following areas: User profile, post sidebar under the avatar, and under signatures if that particular post was liked. :tonberry: The current time (as recognized by the forum OR your user account) is now situated in the footer of the forums. In addition, the default date/time format for the forums has changed to: Abbreviated month Day Year, Time. You can change this in the user control panel to your own preference if it's not to your liking :tonberry: The Classifieds section has seen a slight overhaul in order to better match the rest of the site in terms of widget locations. :tonberry: The Ă¢authorĂ¢ column has been removed from the topics list page and is now fused with the post title/time/date. :tonberry: PayPal donation widget on the home page has been removed. It will be added only in the months leading to domain name/website renewal from here on out. :tonberry: The Necropolis section, along with the myriad of posts contained therein, has been deleted from the forum database entirely. :tonberry: The Pub section has been eliminated. Linkshell seeking should now be done in the Welcome Desk section, whereas linkshell specific discussions can now be held in the Assembly Room. Should the Assembly Room become too congested with threads in the future, I will consider sectioning it off into different sub forums (such as general RP discussions, story/event planning, linkshell discussions, etc). :tonberry: A new cursor has been implemented! For whatever reason, the cursor does not seem to work in Internet Explorer 9 (nor in some lesser used browsers). As such, the default cursor will still be displayed on this browser. The cursor is also somewhat buggy on Google Chrome, though the reason for this remains unclear. It is currently most optimized on Firefox. :tonberry: Home pageĂ¢s portal has been updated from version 1.0.6 to 2.0.0. This will reduce the number of queries the site database makes, thus alleviating server lag issues slightly. In addition to this, certain parts of the site will now auto-redirect. For example: ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum will now redirect to ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum/index.php. This should not affect bookmarks or any other navigational issues. These redirects may be better optimized at a later time. :tonberry: A gallery block has been added to the sidebar of the home page and forum index to show recent images. :tonberry: New randomized banners have been added. A total of 10 images will randomly display upon each page load. Images can easily be added/replaced later down the line. :tonberry: The link to the "Info" page in the home page's welcome box has been removed. :tonberry: Some stickies have been updated. :tonberry: 186 users have been deleted from the forum database due to prolonged inactivity or duplicate accounts. More may be deleted gradually over time. Further optimizations and ninja edits will occur as needed. Please point out any bugs, graphical or functional, should you find any. :tonberry: The wiki and forum databases have been refused together once again. Your login on the wiki will be identical to your login information on the forums. Those without a forum account cannot edit the wiki. Known bugs: (to be fixed as soon as solutions are available) [spoil]*(Graphical only) When loading a saved draft into your post, the left border of the post extends a bit too far downward. *(Graphical only) The like button is not as prominent as it should be. *Welcome box not working properly (being worked on right this moment) *(Graphical only) The user panel in the header area looks rather tacky when you log in IF you don't have an avatar. This will be fixed later by giving all users without avatars a default avatar. *(Graphical only) Text in sub forum sections doesnĂ¢t line up properly with each column. Since there arenĂ¢t really any sub forums in use, this is an extremely low priority fix. *(Graphical only) Chocobo cursor does not work properly in all browsers. *Uploading images to attach to ads in the classifieds section sometimes fails and leaves behind a simple white box instead of the actual image. *Forum rules blocks lack any borders. Due to no forum rules blocks not being used anywhere on the forums at this time, this is also a very low priority item. *Some text colors/coding aspects in individual posts may no mesh very well with the new color scheme. Users are encouraged to go back to their Linkshell ads and character profiles/stories to make necessary edits. *The new calendar sidebar tool does not sync with the current calendar at this time. *(Graphical only) The sidebar on the forum index does not completely match the sidebar on the home page in terms of placement of text, styling, and sizes. This is because of the complex nature of the new upgrades for the home page coding which resulted in me having to manually code the forum sidebar as a temporary measure. This will gradually be tweaked over time until the portal dev team can create a proper necessary modification. *The scroll background does not continue down when the sidebar becomes longer than the forum list. *The site redirects are not set up properly, though you should be able to get to where you need either way. *Numerous images can stand to be better optimized with added shadows, buffed edges, etc. *IE8 and possibly other browsers may display the login box in the banner incorrectly by breaking up the guildleve borders. *Images aren't resizing properly on the home page's news section, causing the page to "break" when viewing said images. *Some text colors may continue to be tweaked slightly.[/spoil] Delayed/cancelled: [spoil]*Addition of Lodestone character profiles into the user profile. Due to the complexity of this addition (and the potential server load issues), this has been cancelled at this time. *News page with scrolling news items. This has been delayed, possibly cancelled, until further notice. Attempts were made to achieve this and they all failed at this time due to being incompatible with the home pageĂ¢s portal. *Possible implementation of the Eorzean clock based around the Windows version. Thanks to Ocaelynth, I possess the basic code for this. However, I am still unsure exactly what to do with it and how to convert it into a proper widget. *Sound effects for hovering over the main buttons in the header. This has been cancelled to avoid server lag, security threats, and potential annoyance to users. *Colorized custom titles. This has been delayed due to low priority. I may go back and reexamine it at a later time (implementation wonĂ¢t be difficult, just tedious). *Displaying the sidebar on all pages. This has been put on hold due to the complex coding of the home page. As soon as the portal dev team creates the necessary modification, this will be added in properly.[/spoil]
  8. Assuming Aysun is able to finish up the two images by tomorrow (no pressure  ), the site update will be scheduled for Thursday. The site will be unavailable for several hours starting around morning hours. You may/may not see multiple error messages throughout the morning/early afternoon (EST time) if you try to connect since I'll be modifying about 80% of the site's image and coding files. Some things to note: 1. Refresh your browser (possibly multiple times) after the update in order to update your browsers cookie files for this site and display everything properly. 2. The update may end up restructuring the entire site map slightly. For example, ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forum may become ffxiv-roleplayers.com/index.php. I plan to try my best to set up automatic redirects so this won't impact anyone in terms of bookmarks and the like. However, should I fail and should you get a constant error message saying the page doesn't exist or whatever, please manually type in the url bar "www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com" and update your bookmarks. Again, I hope to avoid this via auto-redirects but everything doesn't always go as planned. I'm super excited for this relaunch of the site and have put a tremendous amount of work into it. I'm sorry it's coming so late but I wanted to make sure there were as few bugs as possible first. I promise you that every aspect of the new design looks better than this one. And it's very "Final Fantasyish" as well ^^. Further ninja edits/tweaks will be made after the update over time to get everything better matching. Full notes will be made regarding this update after it's done. Comments and suggestions will of course be welcome once the update is live. Also, a preemptive congrats to Sha and Rain for becoming soon-to-be new moderators for the forum!
  9. Bump. All I need help with now is with a mere two images. That's it. Everything else is 99% done aside from some coding stuff I'm experimenting with. After playing around with the above mentioned two images, I've come to the conclusion that it is beyond my skill to complete. So until I can find someone willing and able to get it done ASAP, the site overhaul is at a complete stand-still. Image 1: Requires knowledge in animation creation. You'd simply be creating multiple layers to give an image a glowing effect. Tried this myself thinking it would be a breeze. Boy was I wrong! >.>. Sample image (along with the actual image in which the effect is needed) can/will be provided to show what I'm aiming for here. Image 2: Requires knowledge in image cloning/completion. I have an image that is partially cut out and is missing it's bottom lower right half. I'd need someone able to use mirror copy/paste and/or cloning techniques to make the image whole again. Please either post here or contact me in private if you prefer if able/willing to help with this. Once these two images are done, I can finish everything else within a day or two and have the new site officially up within a week's time. So the sooner, the better! Thanks in advance.
  10. Extensive patch notes can be found here.
  11. I was hesitant to post this but I figured it was probably healthier for people to be upfront and honest if concepts like this are ever to fully reach their full potentialĂ¢Â¦ I wonĂ¢t comment too much on the f-bombs, sex chat, etc, because I didnĂ¢t really see it /that/ often (though being afk and spending 8 hours a day working on the new site is possibly the reason for that). However, I do agree with AysunĂ¢s primary points. We all represent the RP community in everything we do. If someone wants to ERP or do some outrageous RP, more power to them. ItĂ¢s 100% their right to do so. Just donĂ¢t do it in public (Market Wards includedĂ¢Â¦). WeĂ¢ve had discussions on this on these very forums before. Some may not care what the non-Rpers think of them, but a good chunk of this community DOES care. Granted, there are some RP haters and trolls who will forever be beyond reason. But thatĂ¢s not the point. The RP community has a reputation to uphold to other communities. Some of us have been using multiple behind-the-scenes strategies to expand the RP community. Those strategies can hit brick walls when others unknowingly ruin it through their public antics. Not only that, but it causes small splinters in the RP community itself, which is what everyone is seeing manifest right now. We really can't afford splinters and/or stifling growth right now. Again, I havenĂ¢t seen too much of the above myself. But I agree with the overall premise of the argument brought forth. Now on to the part I was hesitant to postĂ¢Â¦I also dropped my Intermission pearl last night. My reason for doing so was completely different though than those who may have left over the above reasoning. After the absolutely abysmal turnout to the excavation event (and its subsequent cancellation as a result), I started to ask myself if these people I shared a shell with were ACTUALLY role-players at all. They liked to -talk- about RP a lot. But when it came to actually participating, it seemed an entirely different story. When you have 20+ Rpers on the shell and only 2 turn out to a unique event that breaks the clichĂƒÂ© tavern gathering mold, itĂ¢s rather quite devastating (even moreso when 3 of those no-show 20+ are members of the hosting shellĂ¢Â¦which prompted me to just spare myself a lot of future heartache and dissolve Archavalon early, but thatĂ¢s neither here nor there). And itĂ¢s not just about this one event either. IĂ¢ve seen this happen in a multitude of events. This one was just the breaking point for me and thus is the one IĂ¢m using as an example. IĂ¢ve Rped for about 8 or so years now in an MMO setting and Eorzea is the first ever instance where I constantly see the Ă¢I canĂ¢t attend the event because itĂ¢s not something my character would doĂ¢ excuse. The Rpers IĂ¢ve known for years now (who are absolutely [glow=red]phenomenal[/glow] Rpers by the way), donĂ¢t need an Ă¢excuseĂ¢ to go to an IC event. Where thereĂ¢s a will, thereĂ¢s always been a way. IĂ¢ll take Endricane as an example. He sent me a tell that his character had no IC reason to attend and asked if it would make sense for Avalon to hire a bodyguard for Kylin. I responded by saying that Ky wouldnĂ¢t be at the event, but it would make sense for the excavation team to hire mercenaries for protecting the miners. Within 10 seconds and a mere tell, he had a valid IC reason to attend for his character. I think he deserves applause for actually reaching out and FINDING a reason for his character to be there. IĂ¢m not sure where IĂ¢m actually going with this rant. My point I guess is that I want to be part of a ROLE-PLAY community first and foremost, much like several others IĂ¢ve talked to. I donĂ¢t mind socializing with fellow Rpers in an OOC fashion. But I was under the impression that the OOC shell would be a way to /unite/ the RP community by fostering greater communication, greater event participation, and so on. Perhaps I was wrong in assuming this. If the primary basis behind the shellĂ¢s concept is indeed just a social outlet, as it seems to currently be, I personally have no need for it. And as such, IĂ¢m presently dropping my support for it. I may reconsider at a later point in time. WeĂ¢ll see. But the only reason I even play this game at all is for RP. Everything else (leves, etc), takes a backseat to that for me. When you feel like everyone else has a different view in that area and when you see everyone constantly making excuses as to why they canĂ¢t attend this or that event, the atmosphere becomes one thatĂ¢s difficult to stick around in. One of my purposes with this public storyline was to reveal the multitude of RP events we as a community were capable of that didnĂ¢t follow the same old format every single time. After this event, Toto-Rak and a primal fight were next in line and could have revealed ways for Rpers to recycle in game content for a myriad of purposes. Anyway, IĂ¢ll cut this off now so I can stop rambling . Good luck to Intermission. Hopefully IĂ¢ll still see a lot of you around from time to time.
  12. Welcome to the RPC! Look one of us up for the OOC pearl so you can get to know everyone a bit and find more RP opportunities. Off-topic: Your signature is adorable >.>
  13. (Bump to remind those interested that this is later tonight!)
  14. There is no way to disable it from the forums. There /may/ be a way to disable it through your browser itself but I don't know exactly how. Putting in an enable/disable option for cursors on websites is unheard of and I don't even know where to start with something like that. In addition, upon further extensive research, it seems most major browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc) do not allow for animated cursors. So in the instance of the chocobo cursor, there won't be the rocking back and forth animation unfortunately. There is a workaround that involves using javascript to create the cursor (which is how the moogles are generated), but it comes out too laggy and would be more harmful than beneficial. The final product is below, however, it won't have the rocking animation unfortunately due to browsers being stupid.
  15. The upcoming site update will bring in a new cursor for the forums instead of the oh-so-dull white arrow. I'm undecided on which to use though. So I'll just ask everyone what they prefer to look at in the future! OR, if someone is talented enough and/or willing, they can make their own custom animated FF14 themed cursor and submit for feedback. However, time is literally of the essence and you wouldn't have longer than a week at most to submit one. [attachment=2] [attachment=1] [attachment=0]
  16. If you attended the Mavanix Academy orientation, you will receive the following flier in the mail. If not, the flier can be found posted up on the bulletin board in Ul'dah's Quicksand tavern. OOC translation: [spoil]The Mavanix Academy will be holding a public excavation on the 4th sun of this upcoming moon. The location is Avalon's private excavation grounds just west of Little Ala Mhigo in East Thanalan on the 20th bell. Interested participants should arrive early. This is perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in an excavation for those who may have never been in one. We look forward to your support in this current endeavor. Sincerey, The Mavanix Academy ::In small print at the bottom:: Fees will apply to those who did not sign up for the excavation during the Academy orientation. Avalon members will not be charged.[/spoil] ((When: Sunday, March 4th at 7:30pm EST Where: Little Ala Mhigo (as instanced area--Avalon's private excavation grounds)))
  17. Thanks to all for attending! By the end of this first story arch, your minds may need much mending . All the rhymes may drive you mad. Soon, it'll be the new fad! The excavation event will be more hands on. I'm aiming to have it Sunday (the 3rd), though this may change depending on what other shells may be up to schedule wise. It'll be more interactive for sure and will allow for small groups and whatnot, along with a lot of freedom for individual stories to blossom if needed. And by the end of the event, the real action will begin!
  18. ((Bump to remind those interested that this is later today! To answer the above question, level will not matter at all for this first event since it is mostly meant to just ease people into everything. The second event will largely be similar in that level won't matter. Events #3 and 4, however, will require actual battles. More info will come on that when we reach that point. In addition to the live events throughout this story, I'll also be posting up stories that go along with everything. Most of it is behind-the-scenes things that may/may not become public knowledge. The story posts are mostly meant to fill in blanks, while leaving certain other blanks open to individual interpretation. The first post of Avalon's Academy profile is now up here: http://www.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/avalon/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=116 Hope to see lots of people later tonight! Remember, this is not a typical social event. It, and those that follow, are story driven. As such, it may not be /everyone's/ up of tea, which is perfectly fine.))
  19. I've actually been watching this game pretty closely. It's one of the few MMO's that stick out to me. And it seems like a RPer's paradise based on the player-made content they're aiming to create. That said, it's still likely a looong way before it's out here in the West. So I'm mostly keeping it at arm's length right now. But I will be keeping a close eye on its development.
  20. Plastered around the city of Ul'dah is the following flier. OOC translation: [spoil]The Mavanix Academy of Ul'dah hereby invites adventurers and scholars of all types to partake in one of its many public orientations. Learn first-hand the history and academic strengths of one of Ul'dah's long-standing acadamies, founded nearly 160 years past by Lord Darian Mavanix of Avalon and House Mavanix. The Academy will also give information related to potential enrollment in its myriad of classes for the upcoming new academic year. Come one and all, whether an interested scholar looking to learn or a curious adventurer looking to pass the time! Orientation begins promptly on the 25th sun at the 20th bell at the Academy tower entrance in Ul'dah (forgot to add this snippet in the image, please assume it's there ><). ::In fine print at the bottom of the parchment:: Orientation is free only to Avalon members. All non-members will be required to pay a fee of 1,200 gil to partake in the event.[/spoil] ((This will begin the public Archavalon storyline! Starts at 8pm EST on Saturday, the 25th. Mentioned 'fee' is purely IC and you will not have to pay OOCly. This, and future events in this plot, are not typical socializing events. They are story driven, though there will of course be opportunities to socialize before and after the event should people wish. Please avoid "fashionably late arrivals" as such arrivals will likely be locked out of the event due to IC happenings and whatnot. So please arrive early. For the purposes of this event, we will be pretending that the 2nd level of Ul'dah is an instanced area (the Academy). It will ICly be one of the many towers located around Ul'dah. So just hangout by the elevator prior to the event. Assume that there's a secretary inside that won't allow anyone to progress beyond a certain point prior to the event start. Hope to see many there! If any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.))
  21. As announced today, Besaid and Fabul servers will be merged to create the new server Balmung (server #7 >.>). This means the new unofficial RP server will be considered Balmung. Hopefully Square Enix makes it more official with a "RP friendly" tag of some sort in the future. Most browsers require a certain media plugin to watch the video. You will receive a pop up prompt if this is the case. Simply install the plugin and it'll let you view. YouTube didn't work due to audio copyright. Should the video require constant buffing, you are advised to let it sit on pause for a few minutes so it'll play more seamlessly after enough time has passed to download. You may use the alternate link to download the video directly and view on your own PC should it be easier to do so. The video is not my best work, but it's something I promised a year ago. Better late than never![/spoil] Two years ago today, the Final Fantasy XIV Role-Play Coalition went public for the first time. The result was something many of us never could have possibly imagined at that time. Our numbers and activity gradually increased until the release date of the game was announced, and then our numbers shot through the roof in a way that canĂ¢t be described unless you witnessed it first-hand. What followed was a rough ride filled with forged alliances, shattered friendships, drama, memorable events, and adventures beyond our wildest dreams. Today, the face of the RP community has changed drastically since its initial inception. Many of our friends have left, possibly never to be heard from again. We've made new friends...and enemies. We've fought, we've laughed, we've cried together. We've lost a lot and gained just as much. Amidst it all, we've never really lost sight of the bigger picture. And in the rare chance that we did, the community quickly realized it and came back together each time (Mog House, Red Pearl, Out of Character). Though it's been a long (yet short) two years, this is only just the beginning. 2.0 is creeping closer and closer with each passing day. New adventures await us all then, and I can't wait to begin them with new and old faces alike. Without making this too long and flowery, I just want to wish a very happy 2 year anniversary to the RPC and its members. Here's hoping the next year and beyond are as adventurous or more than these last two.
  23. My plan is to have an image on each side of the background--a paladin on one side and probably a black mage on the other. This will cover up most of the bleak grey area. Problem is, there's not much job art/pictures out there to do this yet >< I do like the idea of putting Eorzean fliers up around it as well though. I can try to do both, though I need to locate good images of said fliers.
