The goal has been reached and there are now sufficient funds to renew the RPC until around May of 2012. Thank you to those who donated. RPC would not be here at all without your support!

While I don't mean to discourage you, now would be the worst possible time to try creating your own RP shell. That's not to say it can't succeed, but the likelihood of it doing so would be rather slim right now unless you've already got a handful of friends waiting in the wings to pump initial energy into it. The best time to create a RP shell now would be right around PS3 launch when the flood of newbies start coming in and oldies return. There have been 3 attempts to start a crafter only type of RP shell and none of them have managed to get off the ground (save for Silver Anvil, but even they struggled quite a bit in keeping an active roster and eventually had to disband). The RP community, along with the general community, is in a slight lull right now. This is largely due to the game still being considered in unofficial "beta testing." You can still find RP of course and there are numerous events still going on. But most RPers have pretty much settled into whatever shell they want to be in for the time being. Again, not trying to discourage you. Just don't want you to get your hopes up by creating your own group. My advice would be to join a pre-existing one and consider creating your own after you've garnered enough interest later down the line. Either way, hope to see you in Eorzea!

Due to deals that I've been able to take advantage of, we currently only need around $50 now. The domain name was thankfully taken care of completely until 2012 due to a transfer deal. So now we just need to handle the web space itself, of which I've already got 40% towards. So in short: $50 is needed now. EDIT: Edited first post. Only $30.00 is required now.

EDIT: Goal reached. RPC shall be renewed for another year. It's time for the RPC site fees to be paid. The site renewal fee is done only once a year (it saves money to pay for a full year rather than month by month) and now is that time. I will update this thread within 24 hours of each donation until there's enough to cover the bill. I can't pay it all solo since I have other financial obligations that take priority. I am however starting us out with about 40% of the bill prepaid. Current RPC donation status: 100% In the very rare event that there is not enough to cover the bill, the RPC site will go down (though everything will be backed up). In the even rarer event that the funds are still not available within a month of going down, donations will be fully refunded to all donors. To make a donation, follow these steps: Step 1: Navigate to the main RPC page (via the "Home" tab up on the banner). Step 2: Scroll down to the "Paypal Donations" box on the right side of the screen. Step 3: Input how much you wish to donate in proper decimal form (for example: 5.00) and select the appropriate currency that you're using. It's on the Euro by default so please change it to whatever you use (USD for United States Dollars, etc). Step 4: Click the donate button to log in to your PayPal account, following on screen instructions from there. Step 5: After you follow the instructions, you're done! Please send me an email, private message, or post here so we can confirm that the donation went through. A PayPal account is necessary. If you do not have one, you'll need to make an account or figure out a different donation method (and I'm not comfortable with different methods since they're less secure for all involved parties). Deadline to reach 100% is May 2nd, though that can be extended a bit if necessary. However, if not enough funds are available at that point, a warning to backup character stories/profiles, etc will likely be issued.

Apparently, Yoshi-P has begun posting in the Japanese forums. A Japanese individual has posted a brief summary of his posts thus far on Zam. Here the summary that was posted: Sounds like there are going to be adjustments made to the geography itself. Perhaps that poem he posted earlier in January has something to do with it?

OH LS Bliss Haute Couture Fashion Show
Kylin replied to Seraphine Felstar's topic in Chronicled Events
Grats to the winners (and condolences to those who had to suffer the wrath of the judges)! 3rd place went to Amalthea Ghoulheart. 2nd Place went to Rynn Limley. And the grand prize went to Kyri Saggita, Eorzea's new top model! A few pictures have been uploaded to the RPC gallery. Feel free to add any more you may have. -
OH LS Bliss Haute Couture Fashion Show
Kylin replied to Seraphine Felstar's topic in Chronicled Events
This event is today at 4:30 PM (EST), 1:30 PM (PST), and 9:30 PM (GMT). There are numerous different times posted both on this thread, the calendar, and other LS forums that differ drastically from the actual official time. Just thought I'd bump this for Sera to inform those of the real start time. -
Another small wiki update! :bomb: A new posting editor has been installed for those who lack knowledge in wiki coding. To use it, simply go into the page editor and click the toggle button: And it will reload as this: This new editor will likely be more familiar to many of you and make it easier to update pages. It also allows you to see coding changes you make as you make them in your post. Unfortunately, color codes and fonts are not accessible yet this way and will still require wiki code knowledge. I will look into this at a later time hopefully. The new editor also allows you to easily link something to a category by using the very last symbol on the first line. Please note that many categories in the list may be deleted and moved around though since there are presently too many. :bomb: Numerous categories have been deleted and merged into other categories. As a result, many pages have moved into somewhere easier to access. :bomb: The Location category is now mostly in its final form, now neatly organizing locations by the following subcategories: City-State, Geography, Global Region, Hamlet, Player-Made Location, and Region. Landmarks may also be added at another time. :bomb: Wiki tutorials have been updated a bit more. See the "Wiki Tutorials" link on the wiki sidebar for more details. :bomb: New content has been added in various sections. Note: The wiki was originally launched very messily. The number of categories used was overwhelming and has been trimmed drastically (and will continue to be trimmed). This made pages very difficult to find and it was even worse due to the lack of organization and linking between categories. More changes will continue to be made, though the wiki is certainly much more manageable now than it was previously. Please note that this wiki is not meant to be like other wikis such as Zam's or Eorzeapedia's. Their wikis are extremely extensive in terms of gameplay aspects. The RPC wiki is primarily focused on lore only. We actually do have a ton of stuff that no other wiki has in that department and it's best we continue focusing on that angle since going any other angle would be a waste of time and energy. We do not need a database of items, stats of beasts, etc. That kind of stuff would be looked up via other wikis, not ours. Other changes include an overhaul of the bestiary section. Presently, each beast type is set up as a category (such as dodos having their own category). This is unnecessary since this wiki doesn't need to list every single type of dodo in the game. NPC's will also be given a subcategory of player-made npcs. If you have any suggestions to other changes you'd like to see to the wiki, please feel free to note them here. I can't promise anything, but I will look into things at the very least.

Some decent info here. Finalfantasy14.eu :

Logo would be approximately 210 x 225 pixels. :approve:

The wiki overhaul is mostly complete, save for some minor issues that still need worked out. :moogle: A new theme has been installed, drastically changing the look of the wiki. :moogle: The navigation menu has been altered to support subcategories, along with other additions. :moogle: A temporary logo has been added. A new logo has been added, courtesy of Willowhalfmask. :moogle: Categories have been altered. âCanonicalâ and âNon-canonicalâ subcategories no longer exist. This is to make the layout simpler and easier to understand. If you wish to add non-canonical (player made) lore, please indicate as such in your wiki post via a stub or quick mentioning at the top. :moogle: Stories category has been removed due to lack of use. Stories can still be posted on these forums regardless in the Town Square section. :moogle: Various new content has been added. Known issues :moogle: Some colors still need editing. :moogle: Internet Explorer users will encounter a minor glitch in the top menu (next to the log out button). :moogle: The license info is not yet displayed in the footer, but it is still under the same license. This requires coding additions in which Iâll have to wait until FreelanceWizard is free to do so. :moogle: Page stats do not display on the new theme. This goes with the license issue and needs recoding to work properly. Future changes :moogle: The logo will be replaced whenever someone with artistic talent decides to submit one to us. :moogle: Equipment category will be renamed to âArtifacts.â :moogle: New categories will likely be added. Feel free to suggest what youâd like to see. Other categories will continue to be cleaned up if they are not needed/used. I hope that these changes have made things much simpler on the wiki and will thus encourage more additions to it. There are still a ton of things missing entirely or just partially filled. Images could help spruce up some pages as well. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to any and all categories, especially Lore, Locations, and Bestiary. Any links you see in red are in need of being filled out.

Finally managed to fix all the database errors! Also fixed various dead links related to wiki tutorials. Thus, the wiki overhaul is now underway. It should be complete within a few days or so. It will be announced in this forum section, along with the changes made. A new look is being prepared, a new navigation system, a banner/logo, and more.
-
Created a page for you. Just type your name (first and last) in the search bar. It's a basic page layout but can be edited to whatever you want later down the line. I used Brin's layout so you'll have to change any instance that uses his links >.> The wiki is a super major headache right now though. The database errors are driving me mad and I can't fix layout issues. The wiki guy has been MIA for a month now despite my email and PM so we're kinda screwed right now until I find someone else to fix everything.

Happy one year anniversary RPC! That's right. It's already been one full year since we set out to lay the foundation for Eorzea's RP community. A lot has happened in a year's time. Linkshells have crumbled, new linkshells have formed. Old faces have disappeared, new ones have come. But the RPC is still here and as strong as ever. This project began with only a small handful of role-players from FFXI's Sylph server in December, 2009. I set out to invite other known RP groups still alive in FFXI, including Sylph's Crystalline (most of which are now in what's known as Outer Heaven), Leviathan's Lost Boys (known as Stormguard as their Eorzean counterpart), Lakshmi's Canta Per Me (most of which are now in what's known as AETHER), Siren's Silver Gryphons, Kujata's Braved Dawn, Asura's Sfant Umbra, and several other FFXI RP shells. You've likely heard the saying that gathering RPers is like herding cats. That saying couldn't have been more true. Mobilizing these Rpers to join a RP coalition was a task in and of itself. Coming from FFXI, most were used to living in isolation in the RP world. It was difficult to explain to them all that successful RP coalitions existed in just about every other MMORPG (excluding FFXI). It was the norm (and still is--look at new MMOs like Rift or Guild Wars 2 for instance), but persuading everyone of that was easier said than done. Reluctantly, these Rpers began to unite under one banner though. We started gathering on our first forum. While it wasn't the most glamorous looking forum, it slowly became home. RPers from FFXI's different servers began to get to know one another and gradually, the insecurity and doubts about the RPC began to subside. New friends were made and new bonds were forged. The RPC's original charter was born and approved unanimously during the very first formal RP discussion and vote. After gaining approximately 70-80 role-players from FFXI and voting on our charter, the RPC finally went public on February 15th, 2010. We made our presence known on sites like Zam, Eorzeapedia, Core, and several other smaller sites. Our numbers began to continue rising gradually. We began our first etiquette discussions, the RPCV was launched, the RPC Council convened, the linkshell teaser site launched to reveal the first 10 RP shells of Eorzea, and so much more. Once the release date for the game was finally announced, the RPC exploded. Our membership soared through the roof and posting activity spiraled out of control. There were so many posts per day that even those who checked the forums multiple times per day couldn't stay caught up. To those who originally had reservations about the RPC, the success was astonishing. The server vote for the unofficial RP server went quite smoothly compared to other RP server votes in other MMOs. While Lindblum maintained a strong lead for most of the vote, Besaid eventually won out. No other server had much of a chance of winning. Mysidia came in third and even that was a very distant third. All in all, 230 role-players voted. Zam, Eorzeapedia, and Core all three covered the results of the poll on their front pages, further solidifying the selection as the true RP server. Other media outlets, such as the Mog House blog and other smaller fan sites, announced the vote as well. So much more happened between then and now, including drama, ugly politics, the launch of other projects, and so much more. To cover it all would be difficult. With all that said, I am in the beginning stages of creating a tribute video for the RPC's 1 year anniversary. I am hoping to cover all remaining RP shells in it while also remembering the RP shells who are no longer with us. RP shells please submit screenshots to me via PM or email (). Presently, I have screenshots for Coral Vanda, Elements, MonsterHunters/Mog House, Outer Heaven, Sanctus Refero, and TALE. If youâre not listed, I have -nothing- for your shell yet. The video will mostly be screenshots only since getting video footage of every RP shell would be much more difficult. Maybe next year ^^. But don't worry. Sylph RPers can testify to the fact that I can still make a pretty epic tribute video with just screenshots . Thank you to every single one of you, whether you still play the game or not. The contributions from each role-player, no matter how small, are the reason we're still here and the reason that we'll remain here until the game goes under (which hopefully won't be anytime soon >.>). It's amazing to see an entire year already having gone by. Despite the bumpy launch of the game, the RP community has still managed to thrive and make a name for itself. The bonds we Eorzeans have made so far will remain with most of us forever no doubt. Ups and downs alike, the ride has been amazing so far. And I look forward to the many more years ahead in which even more memories will be forged. In the meantime, happy adventures and Happy Anniversary, RPC! Hope to see you all in Eorzea! Best wishes, Castiel PS: No Zeahs were harmed in the production of the site's new temporary banner and background.

First I've seen or heard of this. But I love it nonetheless. Looking forward to more. If there's anything the RPC can do to further support future episodes, let us know (if you're even reading this, Jake). I'd be happy to help in any way possible. Though it seems you've got it all under control

Hey linkshell leaders/members! This is just a quick little announcement that I'm looking to gather linkshell pictures (for each remaining RP group). I'm working on a little surprise project that was originally going to be canceled but is now moving forward at the very last minute. Some linkshells have extensive galleries on their forums and I'll likely use those. Those who don't have galleries on their forums, please submit as many linkshell pictures as you can to me ASAP. You can do this via PM or via email at . I appreciate it. Thanks!

An Epic section will be added to the site (link to be added under the Lore tab). At first this will just be the teaser site with the overall theme and other relevant info. Following the first event, it will be replaced with the old RPC book theme which will be used to document each event. This will of course require participants to document their own individual team's adventurers since each group may have varying experiences.

Just wanted to apologize to everyone for the delay in the previously promised wiki overhaul back during the previous RPC site update. I have been working on it but ran into some snags. I sent a private message to our local wiki expert but that was 2 weeks ago and I've yet to hear back. If anyone else has extensive experience in Media Wiki coding, feel free to speak up and we can try to get the ball moving. The wiki is one of the last big site updates and I'd like to remove it from my to-do list ASAP. The wiki look will likely change somewhat drastically. A new theme has been worked on that will provide a cleaner look and easier to navigate system. There are a couple glitches/issues that need worked out before I can proceed any further however. Due to my lack of expertise in wiki coding, I can't do too much myself for fear that I'll risk breaking the site like I temporarily did a couple weeks ago while updating to the latest version >.>. Just wanted to give a status update and let you know that there are still plans to overhaul it. I'm just waiting to hear back from our wiki guy or find someone else who has equal experience who can help.

Below is an outline regarding the future Epic, approved by the Epic Committee. Some of this may be subject to change at the last minute depending on the difficulty of implementation. Feel free to ask questions if something is not clear. The Epic does not yet have a start date. The next news release regarding this will hopefully be a teaser site about the story arch along with a projected start time. For those not familiar with the Epic, it's a massive storyline meant to encompass and bring together all RPers. It will span for several weeks and unite Rpers from as many RP linkshells as possible, freelancers, and even non-Rpers. Structure of Besaid's Epic Rules: There will be a set of rules for every Epic. These rules will be dependent on the story arch, however there will also be commonly seen rules from other RP shells in order to help prevent god moding and meta-gaming. If one can not or does not wish to abide by the rules set forth by the Committee, they will not be welcome to the events. This event is FOR the entire RP community. Any OOC sabotage attempts against it is an act of aggression against the entire community and will be treated as such. If necessary, reports can and will be made to one's linkshell leaders, a GM, and if needed a detailed report will also be recorded for the public. While this may sound âharsh,â the Epic is one of the HUGE things in which the RPC offers and as such, is taken very seriously. However, the chances of such sabotage are very slim seeing as other large public RP events haven't seen such issues. But the warning remains the same nonetheless. The Epic is not mandatory to participate in. It is entirely optional. Like any public RP event, it is a privilege to attend, not a right. HOWEVER, keep in mind that the storyline will be considered CANON. Remember that even if YOU don't like the Epic, a large amount of role-players (including some possibly from your own linkshell) may very well be taking part in it. Hence, it has to be considered canon for the sake of everyone else even if your character opts to not be involved for whatever reason. Content: The content of the Epic (in game quests, storyline, event management, etc) will be coordinated by the Epic Committee. There will be an engaging and overarching storyline in which everyone will be able to take part in. Additionally, the Epic will be set up in a way that the content can still be role-played even outside of the scheduled events. This means individuals and linkshells can easily create their own sub-stories that tie into the larger plot. Scheduling: All in game RPC Epic events will occur on weekends only. This is the best and only way to reach out to all time zones. Specific times will be designated by the Committee. Linkshells please keep this in mind while scheduling events while the Epic is ongoing. There will be ample time (5-7+ days) given between each event's schedule. If a linkshell has a public event they've been planning for a long time, the Epic Committee will take it into consideration and possibly reschedule. The entire Epic is estimated to last approximately 4-5 weeks from start to finish. Each event will likely last 2-3 hours or longer, depending on each individual team (look below for more info on teams). Organization: Here's where it has to start getting complex. As we're all aware, events of this magnitude (according to the turnout at the Full Cold Moon) can be quite chaotic. The chat box could be overflowing with text, it's difficult to keep everyone together AND entertained, and the entire scene can just be chaotic with 50+ people in attendance. Fortunately, we have a system in place to handle all of this. Almost every event will start with a guildleve. It will be posted OOC'ly up in the Bulletin Board. IC, these leves will be distributed to all nations to gather adventurers together. This should help bring together both casuals and hardcore role-players since technically EVERYONE uses the leve system to some degree or another. The leve will have a designated time and meeting place. Everyone will gather there to meet with the "Quest Master" (note that Quest Master is an OOC only term and is henceforth abbreviated "QM"). While in the presence of the QM, everyone is asked to remain as quiet as possible. If you wish to chat ICâly during this part, please do so in /linkshell, /party, or /tell. This will help tremendously in getting the event started. Don't worry, you'll all have your chance to shine and chat to your heart's content. Just not in the QM's presence. The QM will brief the adventurers on the mission and give some background lore related to the main story. This will usually be done in /shout with large attendances (hence why the meeting location will usually be somewhere semi-isolated). After the IC briefing, the adventurers will be split into teams of 3-6 people each, depending on turnout and mission details. Each team will be given a different mission related to the overall mission. For example, team 1 may be charged with investigating a certain area near Ul'dah while team 2 may be assigned to investigate near Coerthas and other teams would be assigned elsewhere. These teams will be decided based on the mission. You may be divided by any type of system depending on the event, ranging from gender to race to rank to class to just about any other classification system. It will all depend on the content of the event. This division of teams will be done IC'ly for believability but we will OOC'ly strive to put people into teams OUTSIDE of their own linkshell when possible. The purpose of the Epic is, after all, to bring role-players of all stripes and shades together. After the division in teams, the QM will send everyone to do their thing. At this point, you will be able to RP to your heartâs content, get to know your teammates, etc. A "GM" will be assigned to each team (which may or may not consist of a member of the Epic Committee depending on numbers). This GM will enforce Epic rules and possibly serve as the person who is primarily responsible for advancing the overall quest. After each team finishes their quest, they will return to the QM to report. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, not quite. In order to avoid repetitiveness and predictability, every event and every team will have varying experiences. For instance, a saboteur character may be put into certain teams every now and then to try sabotaging the mission for some reason or another. Sometimes you may have to do battle with powerful beasts in the wilds or even villains who may show up to ruin your progress. Sometimes you may have to deal with a very difficult NPC character who may require a lot of effort to get the info you need. The possibilities are only limited to one's imagination. And if you're not too careful, your character could even end up kidnapped and held for ransom! In addition, we will sometimes reach out to linkshells/companies to help host an Epic event if they are willing, putting their own group in the spotlight for the duration of the event. Role-players and non RPers alike will both be drafted for each event as needed to help with "NPC" management. Path System: The Epic is being designed in a way that supports multiple "paths." That means the story may take a different path depending on whether the adventurers succeed or fail at certain missions. This allows YOU to have an actual impact on the direction of the story. For instance, failing a certain mission may reveal a secret that wouldn't actually have been ever introduced if you hadn't failed, thus putting the storyline on path #2 instead of path #1. Various different endings will be prepared. Which ending will you crazy adventurers bring about? Epic Site: There will be a section of the site set up for keeping a detailed account of each event. Those who miss an event can thus keep up-to-date easily. Each team is asked to post the details of their adventure in a pre-designated thread to make this process easier. Epic Start: The Epic will be announced once the storyline and everything else is hashed out by the committee. A teaser site will be released to give everyone a look at the story angle so you'll have ample time to come up with your own subplots if desired. The Epic will NOT start when the teaser is released. You will be reminded of this again when the teaser site is revealed. The actual official start of the Epic will be via the Town Square. There will be rules for the brief thread (such as one post per character to avoid interaction scenes and just focus on the character's initial reaction to the event). After that, the remainder of the Epic will be played out via the events posted in the Bulletin Board (all of which will be marked "Mission 1," "Mission 2," etc.). The committee MAY post a behind the scenes story related to the Epic from time to time, though this remains to be seen and it would have to be made clear that it's OOC knowledge only. Presently, a theme has been agreed upon and the details are under construction.

The structure outline for the Epic will be posted in the Headlines section on Friday, the 4th. This upcoming week will likely have a lot of attention on the upcoming patch and I'd rather something as significant as the Epic not be too overshadowed by it. The story arch and details are currently being hammered out and will not be revealed for awhile longer most likely. After the structure is posted, the next Epic related news you'll all get will be the teaser site, which will reveal the actual story angle and a start date for the Epic.

Welcome! I fixed your sig. The character tab was messing up the spoiler tag. Let me know if that's how you want it (or you can edit it yourself now that the spoiler tag is set up correctly ^^). I'm not sure if there's a way to change your sig picture for these particular sigs. As to why it's outdated, I'm not sure either. I think they're supposed to update every 24 hours but I'm not really sure. Someone else may know more about it.

Currently observed throughout Eorzea, Valentione's Day was originally established to pay tribute to Countess Arabelle de Valentione of Ishgardâa remarkable woman who exhibited unparalleled courage in her quest for true love. In present day, it has become an occasion on which people express feelings of love and gratitude to those most important in their lives. This is commonly done via the exchange of simple chocolate bon-bons crafted specially by the giver. While in recent years there have been complaints that the true spirit of the day has been grossly pervertedânow little more than a marketing ploy conjured up by the Culinarians' Guild and the Company of Eorzean Kukuru Growers to increase sales of their productsâthis does not take away from the fact that countless people across the realm use this tradition to bring happiness to others. And isn't that what the countess would have wanted? House Valentione Coat-of-Arms For further info, see the Lodestone: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=ebb24e6b791146967b5ef78776aa0ef7e9d2ddc0 Event runs from February 1st to February 15th.

Wow, lots of huge news. Looks like they're aiming to give us 2 small updates every month for a bit. The addition of official forums may be interesting if nothing more than seeing the impact it'll have on fan sites. Though like most official forums, it'll probably be a cesspool of non-stop whining >.> Too much goodness to post about though. All in all, this is the announcement I've been personally waiting for all month ^^
