  1. If you didn't get it tonight, send me a tell tomorrow and I'll be happy to help if you need a healer. I didn't get it, unfortunately! I went to the restroom and came back to get the "YOU DIDN'T CLICK THE BUTTON, START OVER" message. I wanted to cry, hah. I'd love to grab you to help tomorrow! It'll probably have to be post-work though, which means 10pm est or later. Unless a miracle happens and we down Garrosh tonight, I'll be raiding in WoW until 10pm CST anyway, so. Well then, that's serendipitous! If only I could get my lazy-ass non RPing friend to tank for me, but he's kind of a turd like that. I'll give a look for you when I get on after work in the evening, then.
  2. Also Siobhain, it'd take a pretty sexy Roegadyn to make me take up weaving, just saying. Then again, my character likes taller women since his mother dwarfed his father, so who knows!

  4. I don't see anything wrong with the cultural methodology. Just because its not anything relatable to modern day society or hy'urs doesn't mean its bad. Sunseeker females don't just readily sleep with the nuhn like a pack of sex slaves either. Its just a mating process to ensure strong young. Oh, no, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the culture in any way is flawed. I'm saying that it's being implemented in a silly way that's detrimental to the actual society itself. As was already mentioned in this thread, they're hunters who care about strength, and as you said, strong offspring. It makes sense, and it has all sorts of potential. It's disappointing to see it squandered. And my character wouldn't approve, but...well shit, he's sort of a prude, so he'd probably be bothered by the entire situation without even getting into the minutiae.
  5. Truth be told, I kind of got that vibe myself. Maybe it's from having a significant number of friends who are open about that sort of RP, or from being on the internet way too much, but when someone specifies "Only girls" when trying to gather a group of female dominant species...it can lead to misunderstandings. Definitely always a good idea to specify what you're looking for, no matter the situation. At least that way no one will walk into something they're not expecting!
  6. I...have not had the misfortune of seeing that FATE myself, but it seems like a really, really poor handling of the dominant animal pack structure the Seekers of the Sun have going on. I mean, when you have an entire half of a species whose only male surnames mean "Guy who has sex with all the women" and "Everyone else", it leaves a lot of room for interpretation, both good and bad. tldr: Where's my quests with sexy Roegadyn women. :<
  7. Curses on the DPS queue curse, haha. I'm trying to get Titan before the servers go down for maint..half an hour in and no luck so far. I hope I can do it!
  8. The biggest issue I have with walking up is the absolute, gut clenching terror that OH GOD WHAT IF THEY AREN'T RPING. I've been on the other side of that, and on the approaching side. I even had a non-RPing friend who I play with on Balmung keep getting approached while he was trying to fish. The best you can do is keep trying...though I'm not really qualified to give the advice because I tend to shy away from it more often than I should! Oops! Search comments and friendly questions seem to help, though. (I'm actually acquainted with someone who roleplays a ton back from my Ragnarok Online days, but he has a bad habit of somehow getting stabbed a lot, so I'll avoid that for the moment. >.>; )
  9. I think it's believable, but only if done right. I mean, I just finished the Company of Heroes questline (I'm right about to fight Titan, oh boy!), and there's what, at least 8 or so of them you meet, with a significant number dead and/or tempered, with the survivors sometimes blind, crippled, or otherwise forcibly retired. Defeating Primals is messy business, to say it in a polite manner. Having to execute a longtime friend after they get tempered is enough to make me walk away from the business, I'd say.
  10. It's definitely feasible. If anything, it's much more likely than anyone attempting to say that they have some purloined Magitek armor from the Garlean Empire to ride around..
  11. Goodness, I feel your pain. I'm maining monk right now, and I was in queue for about an hour earlier to get into Brayflox for the story quest. It's especially bothersome when you only have a few hours each day to play and you have to spend half of it in queue, risking the chance you might have to drop before dungeon completion. It makes my soul hurt...but I guess that's what I get for playing a DD class.
  12. My new goal is the infantry subligar from Brayflox's Longstop. Leather leopardprint underpants? I can live with this.
  13. "Can you imagine what I would do, if I could do all I can?" - Sun Tzu. It's a bit recursive, but it's neat and applicable to him both on outlook and reference material for character.
  14. I. Basic Info Characters: Khyros Oroban Primary character: Khyros Oroban Linkshells: None as of yet Primary RP linkshell: None as of yet. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-Heavy. I'm not in character 24/7 because sometimes I like to enjoy the game as a game, obviously. But long term, internally consistent storylines are what gets my blood singing, so I enjoy engaging in roleplay and taking it seriously with that in mind. Views on RP combat and injuries: I'm all for them, I suppose. Combat-wise, I've never been a fan of actual PvP deciding roleplay scenario combat, since it's always...well, skewed. One person might play a lot more, or be better at the game, or the game itself might be horrifically imbalanced (Case in point, I played a Ragnarok Online Roleplay server where all in character combat was settled through in game PvP, and that game is...balance challenged, shall we say.). I'm more amenable to rolling when it comes to RPPvP combat, but even then it can be troublesome, since adding that much of a random element can make things haphazard at best. Since it's essentially mutual storytelling, I tend to agree with the person I am engaging in RP with to do it through emotes. Of course, that includes making sure to avoid the sticky topic of Godmoding, by which I typically tend to make attack emotes more suggestive rather than descriptive. Along the lines of describing the attack and the intent, and letting the recipient decide on the actual effect. As for injuries, I've had my share of those in my time. Broken limbs, bruised organs, even lost digits and eyes here and there. (And once upon a time died.) Of course, serious injuries and beyond are something agreed upon by all parties, or else it defeats the purpose of collaboration. Views on IC romance: I have no issues with IC romance. Just like any sort of involved RP, it can involve drama, that's true. And like any other sort of long-term RP, it can involve people having their lives interfere with their RP lives. But despite any negatives, it -can- be an extremely potent motivator and agitator for RP. Like everything, done well it can be wonderful. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Something I've done many times in the past (Just not on this character.), I've had people RP siblings, aunts/uncles, children, even things like sworn brothers. (Can't go wrong taking precedents from Guan Yu, right?) It's just another layer of resources to fall back on when crafting stories, so it's A-Okay in my book. Views on lore: I'm the sort who'll sit and read the lore just for fun, and do my damnedest to make sure that what I write fits in with it. I scoured wikis and game info while answering the 100 questions about your character bit to make sure that my answers fit the setting, timeline, and even naming conventions. I decided a childhood Lalafell friend would make sense in Ul'dah, so I had to look up naming conventions for them, their unique vowel usage, and make sure that the kid's name was the right phonetic setup. This stuff is serious! Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I tend to see /say, /party, and emotes as the primary RP in my views, with shouts and tells being more slanted toward OOC (though in group situations, tell is a marvelous mechanism paired up with an emote for whispering to a specific person.) III. Other Info Country: US Timezone: EST Contact info: Oroban here, Khyros Oroban in game, and I can hand out skype/email as well if I deem it necessary.
  15. Eesh, well, the fleshing out bit has been taken care of, courtesy of the 100 questions to ask about your character thread. (As seen here.) Hopefully that'll make it a bit easier for me to jump into things. If not, it was a rather enjoyable hour or so of my life, in any case. Something to do in the depression that after unlocking Qarn I'm not high enough level to go to it, haha.

  17. When you get to level 30 in your main class, and 15 in a specific alternate class, you can take the job quest. When you get it, you upgrade from, in this instance, archer to bard. Bard is literally just archer with new skills, and new equipment available. You don't -have- to upgrade into bard, but there's literally no downside to it..
  18. So far, I'm going to have to say I'm in love with the Foestriker set. But since I've only played medium armor classes, and I'm only level 31...well, my selection is limited! I'm gonna dabble in Gladiator shortly so we'll see, but for some reason I really like the inclusion of the long tunic/satchel that's included in it.
  19. Hey all! I picked up the game back in 1.0 (but wasn't a legacy due to...well, 1.0 I suppose.) Got into the game in Closed Beta, early start, and all that. I got to be on Balmung from the start, at least! But I've been an avid roleplayer for night on a decade now, and I figured it'd be nice to get into the RP community here rather than blunder blindly about the server and hope to stumble into some RP. I'm still in the process of fleshing things out, but I figure it'd be a good idea to get integrated into the community as it goes rather than just try to plunge in. tldr; Hey, I'm Khyros and I'm new! It's nice to meet all of you, and I hope we get along! (And if not, well hopefully it'll still make for a good story, right?)
