  1. I've said repeatedly that it is possible to improve SE's character creation without sliders. Countering with examples of extreme sliders doesn't actually address my point. *sigh* Again: Far more than roleplayers place a high value on character customization. And again, the game isn't just about it, sure it's important but most people are content with just changing their hair color. Most people I know pick races based on stats alone for Pve. Sure other people care - but in my raid team, only 2 of us use glamors. Most give zero shits. There is enough customisation with how many races there are and color options. They will always add more, but not as a priority over dungeon and content for the community. People get far more out of one dungeon than they do out of 3 hairstyles.
  2. Well, does anyone have a I ideas for what sort of things would help? I'm going to post up a event on the thread- even if it's just "limsian social day" or "gridanian social days". Just for those characters who are from Limsa or from gridanian have an excuse to be in the city and meet their neighbours.
  3. Awww~! I've seen your art thread it's very cute! Maybe over the summer we can do an art trade. I'm a bit busy with finals but we could work something out. Certainly. I'm in the same boat, I have finals very soon.
  4. ;-; as much as I enjoy the grindstone it doesnt fit everyone. It clashes with a lot of IRL stuff for me and I have to pick one or the other.
  5. I know~ But meeting more people is always fun and if we curve attendance in these areas, people will frequent them more and follow each other more. It'll be great. It also might make more people roll Gridanian/Limsian oriented alts. because I've never met a Gridanian Elezen.
  6. >< If I were better at art I'd ask for an art trade.
  7. Real life first, I understand. I am of the same opinion as you though. I might make a weekly continuous event on the calender just to bother people about it. "harvest Day" or "Hot sailors get back from sea day" Those are two very legitimate reasons for vising either place, right?
  8. This. What I fear is, with the large influx of Au Ra, many will somehow find their way to the Quicksand and be all "'Sup" as though they'd always been there and no actual change had even been made in the society. Like what they did with Miqo'te? All of a sudden. All the tribes are in Ul'dah for some reason or another. (Despite the fact most of them are situated in Limsa or the Shroud) It makes me sad that I've seen like fifty R' players but they're all from the desert. I'm the only one from Limsa. ;-; all the R' npc's are only found in Limsa too. I feel your pain. I used to roleplay a traditional keeper. I kind of gave up on that after every kid and their dog was a city cat.
  9. You know what- Gridania and Limsa need more roleplay love. I've bene thinking this for a really really really long time and whenever I go to find roleplay in these areas it just doesnt exist. I think the servers should have a 'weekly Gridania/Limsa' day where people roleplay there if it suits there character. Why so much Ul'dah guys? Does everyone like the smell of burning rubbish and deceitful npcs? Why not pretty waterfalls and nature? or beaches and fish smells? Also, Pirates, everyone loves pirates. Why are there so many pirates in Ul'dah? the closest dock to ul'dah is miles away! Not to mention, Limsa is the most racially diverse. ._.; All dem roes, 'qote, Elezen, hyurs and lalas. The only thing they have a smallflux of is Highlanders and hellsguard. *talks to the wall* I half think posting this wont change anything, but I'd really really like to see people outside of Ul'dah or housing areas for a change. The world is large and beautiful and people spend most of it in their room or in the tavern. At least visit a different tavern.

  11. Maybe make the horns so they kind of cloak the under layer of each fold? Does that make sense?
  12. Schweeet~ I have a few people who might be interested in it too! *grabs IC fiancee*
  13. I'll have a semi-part time alt. My main focus is my main Gin. I like my human. :3 Au Ra overall dont interest me too much but I like the Xaela lore. I just cant wait for people to ignore it all, like keeper lore. Yay, super social close knit-race of warring people will be super social and coming into super social conditions all the time.
  14. @Meena: It's been explained several times that character customization is in NO WAY an RPer-only thing. It's not even something enjoyed primarily by roleplayers. Almost everyone appreciates high levels of character customization. Well yes its not perfect, but its not the focus of the game and wont be. Its a competitive full time MMO to some people and those people don't care half as much as we do about being 'different' looking to everyone else. Remakign the character creator would be a waste of resources and rebuilding the engine might have to be a possibility which would bring down the game again for another year and a half. Im not saying you're unjustified in your opinion, i'm just saying that non-roleplayers spend more time doing actual game things, than having tea parties. And we are such a small percentage that at the end of the day - We don't really even matter as a demogrpahic. -snip- Could SE remake the character creator? I guess. They'd have to spend a lot of time and resources in it, detracting from actual game content. Then they'd have to probably give everyone another free fantasia, like 1.0 to 2.0 so that they can completely remake their characters potentially again. Essentially this.
  15. Take me. I have some spoilery character stuff that you might want to know! ^^ Gin is down for this. bending lore can be fun like this.
  16. Still, the PVE focus of the game will make it so people care about what they;re staring at 90% of the time. I get the feeling MOST people will be male Au ra.
  17. And the like? Just hairstyles. A couple facepaints. It wouldn't kill them to add to face options, to remove face restrictions on special features, or to increase eye/jaw/nose/mouth options. Harder would be body types, but I know that is also doable, too (have seen an MMO add them after the fact). Yes, FFXIV CAN do better. Well, yes they can. However you have to remember they have people dedicated to making hairstyles and outfits for the game part of the same team. They dont just stop all the dungeon work to make aesthetics. Its why things come out slow. I personally think they are releasing enough for customization - sure, i'd love to see more cross-race hair options but to be honest? I'm more interested in the actual content of the game, not playing dress up. Its a MMO, we as the roleplayers are the minority. They will cater to the players who pay to do all the content before us. Erry day.
  18. Mhm! looks far better now! I'm still unsure of the whispy bites because horns dont normally do that in such small arches. But the straightening and strengthening of some of the lines helps a lot. For now they sort of have this feel to them: *think* Mmm.. Images help more than words to me. D; I dont mean to ruin your work at all! Just want to provide criticism to help!
  19. Yeah I need to do heavy detailing on the horns. I noticed that myself after I did them. They don't have the hard edge they need yet. They're going to have that look once I get the actual plating done. But I started getting tired. :< Edit: Maybe I'll go through and remove the wispy spines and make them not so curved. May- yeah, take away the wispy bits. Horns are bone which are not whispy. They weren't supposed to be wispy, just sharply curved but I hadn't drawn the details in to show that as of yet. Though I think for clarity's sake just having them not curved like thorns would be best. I do appreciate the feedback, since it's pretty critical at this stage of the images- since I can go back and edit things very easily. Yeah, I think reducing the visible curve from around the head will help a lot, More.. juttery lines? I'm pretty bad at describing things. It looks great so far.
  20. Did you ever see that documentary about Darkon? Yes, I have. I have a lot of friends in it. No, I'm not in it. The documentary was shot before I joined, and I ended up joining a nation that refused to sign the release forms and filed for copyrights on all of their stuff in order to avoid being in the film. All in all, I'd say it was a smart move. I don't think the documentary was bad per se, but much of what happened there was done for the benefit of the cameras. It isn't so much a documentary as an improvised amateur drama with larpers for actors. Danny's (A.K.A. "Cardboard") scenes make me cringe. I feel they exploited him unfairly. He certainly should have known better than to bare himself on camera like that, but the filmmakers recorded several days worth of footage for each subject. It's clear they used footage that fit the way they wanted to portray the "characters". I think Danny and Beckie got it the worst. I think they tried to portray Beckie as an escapist who resented her lot in life, but that really is far from the truth. I saw the documentary before I joined, because to an outsider it really does make the actual game look fun, even if the game is full of kooks. And don't get me wrong, Darkon has its share of kooks, but when I see the documentary now, I don't concentrate on how fun the game looks anymore, I see the attempts to portray a lot of people I've come to know and regard as good friends as a freak show. That is exactly what happened over here. A documentary was made by a show called 20/20 and they made the people with this hobby out to be weirdos. http://tvnz.co.nz/20-20-news/20-having-larp-3047776/video?vid=3056114

  22. Hmm, cant wait to see it colored, from the line art the horns sort of look like fur...
  23. You're more extroverted than me! I'd love to do that but I'm super shy about it... Even though I cosplay. ;-; I'm pretty introverted. Most of my characters are silent 'glare at everyone' types. But its a lot of fun and most of the people in the community are similar to me. So its not hard to get along with them.
  24. >_> Going away for 4 days at a time to pretend i'm in a fantasy world doing fantasy things when all I look like is this: KZ04mfAY2BU Larp is fun, okay. D: I play a few Otome games.. a few.
