Do what Ben does . . . drink more. Either you get inebriated enough to get over any social anxiety or just you get to a point you no longer care about the chocobo poo. For Benedict I keep it genuine, when he gets drunk . . . I get drunk and that is what leads to fantastic nuggets of dialogue like the following being shouted out while holding onto an equally drunk woman while standing on a table: "I am a man of keen eye and slurred speech! A marvel of the world I live in and truly a man well past his expiration date! I am a whisper on the lips barflys and broken down Limosan hookers! I am BENEDICT!" -Quote from a VERY drunk Benedict, spoken in the same tone as the Kevin Conroy "I am the Night, I am Batman" speech. Ben is loud, cheerful, and tends to make very little sense when he/we/I am drunk. Cheers!

Amusingly, my first character was a female Roe (whom I still adore and will always hold a special place for me), but as she became more active in the community and started going to more events I found that she was being asked many disturbing questions, being hit on constantly, and at one point being continuously stalked by someone who couldn't take a polite "no" for an answer. It got so bad that I stopped feeling comfortable with the character and eventually took a 3 month break and when I came back I rolled up Benedict, my current long term character. IRL I'm male and found that although my Roe was far more welcomed into rp situations, they weren't all situations I wanted her to be in. As Ben, he is largely ignored in most situations as rp tends to center around the female characters in general. However, I find the rp done with Ben to be more enjoyable as a lot of the hassles of rping a female aren't present. Also as a side note . . . I formally apologize to any woman I may have roleplayed with when I was in my teens as I'm sure I was equally as annoying and bothersome.

Doubtful many (or any) would remember me much as I tend to not make a big splash, but a few here knew me before and felt it was time to do the customary "I'm returning" post. I took a break from the game after the birth of my ever adorable second son, five months ago, and now I've once again got the time to dive back into Eorzean RP and so will give a small synopsis of my character, Benedict Whiteraven, whom I have been developing in game for several years with the occasional break here and there: Ben is street urchin turned soldier during the Garlean Invasion of Eorzea. After the war he traveled around making use of the only skill he had at his disposal, swordplay. After quite a long time his life became more complicated through heartbreak, impulsiveness, and bad choices over all, and when he had hit near rock bottom he found himself in the possession of a Dark Knight soul stone that proved to further his undoing by bringing out all the worst traits of his as well as emotionally giving rise to all the pain and hurt he had seen in his life. Unable to control or deal with those emotions he became a danger to himself and others as he lashed out against everyone and everything around him. This left him living alone in a frozen cave in Ishgard. He was then offered a chance at redemption and has since given up his sword and armor to walk the path of the healer (my actual favorite role to play both in combat and otherwise in most MMOs) and Astrologian. Magic is new for Ben and he doesn't have the confidence to rely on it the same way he use to rely on his sword and armor. He is now working hard as an apprentice astrologian (working on getting customary CNJ/THM levels for cross class skills before diving into raw AST leveling. *So if you see him dressed as a CNJ/THM, please understand he is not leveling those classes IC, but instead training as an apprentice AST) to understand magic and the fundamentals of his new path and possibly find peace for himself and redemption for his past. RP Experience: I've been tabletop roleplaying with the same general group for 25 years now, and we still regularly meet every other week. As for MMORPGs, I started on Everquest back in 1999 and have tried most other popular games along the way. I love in-depth story and I'm a big fan or lore based roleplay, as I feel distinct history and lore are what make a fantasy world stand out from every other fantasy world out there. I always welcome random/walk-up roleplay and in most situations will drop whatever else I'm doing to engage in it happily. I look forward to meeting more rpers in Eorzea and welcome anyone to hit me up anytime. *Also, I will need to do a major overhaul and revamp of Ben's wiki page soon. Anything currently there is based on his last run as a DRK.

I never had a chance to go to one of these before due to scheduling conflicts before but Ben is set to return to Eorzean RP (after a 5 month break), and I will actually be able to attend this event, YAY!

Do you have any info on where one might find the meanings tied to the cards? I would be neat to use this in rp and give readings. Sorry if that is a duh question but I just started looking into AST lore.

Benedict moves about picking up the fliers that are cast about without care or concern for what they say. Quietly talking to himself as he does, "Good paper. Useful on cold nights . . . Stick some under a shirt or in the boots. Helps stay warm. . . "

Amusingly for Ben this situation solves itself in most instances. See, Ben is homeless and I tend to post him outside of public rp hotspots and panhandle to players passing by. If they are accepting to a little random rp then they engage in him, and if not they walk by . . . which works if you are playing a bum. As for overhearing people in a public place rping through a dialogue he would be interested in, then I have him walkup. I do get that sending the /tell is considered polite, but it seems odd to secretly ask to join a conversation being had in the most public of forums in the game. If they ignore Ben then I assume they have something against him being a bum and move on without breaking any immersion for myself.
