  1. Welcome back! I've just returned after a year hiatus, so cheers! Feel free to look me up for rp any time.
  2. Although this is not something Benedict would be a part of IC as 1,000 Gil is a lot of meals for a poor man, I applaud the idea and wish you all the best!
  3. I definitely plan to continue the DRK MQ. I love learning the lore of a class. These questions are mostly so I can roleplay my character accurately. As I start him down the DRK path I don't want to break lore if I can help it.
  4. I got to start the DRK quest line the other day and I have a question about the fueling if your powers.
  5. Amusingly, I have just come back to the RPC as recently as last week. So, as I am really trying to build back contacts and add to my rp friends, feel free to look me up and message me any time.
  6. I. Basic Info •Characters: Benedict Whiteraven •Primary character: Benedict Whiteraven •Linkshells: N/A •Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style •Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would say that I'm a medium roleplayer with some leanings towards heavy. Although I find the story well written and the combat enjoyable, roleplaying with others is where I get most of my enjoyment in game. I am perfectly ok with having OOC discussions but I prefer they not interrupt roleplay if possible. •Views on RP combat and injuries: I feel roleplay injuries and combat to be a natural part of the game. I have roleplayed Benedict suffering from many injuries throughout his career and find that when combat is called for then it adds to the roleplay. That being said, I do not believe it ever benefits anyone to break from lore or take things to a godlike extreme when it comes to classes and combat. Such as, don't all of a sudden pull a magical knife that has the power to never have the injuries it inflicts be healed and constantly cause crippling pain and expect me to not hit the PAUSE button and ask, "WTF?" I am also a fan of incorporating class abilities into my combat descriptions if I am roleplaying to be a member of that class. •Views on IC romance: I think this is another area of the game where doing it well is beneficial but going overboard can bring misery to all. I love the idea of character meeting and relationships being formed, romantic or not. This is one of the great joys of mmo roleplaying, the ability to interact and have relationships with other characters. If this becomes romantic, then you get to explore something new in character. My only real advice is keep it IC and not OOC. •Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): See above. Caveat: Nonromantic relationships are a pillar of a good roleplay community. Friends IC usually make good friend OOC. Romantic IC count as good friends OOC in this case. •Views on lore: Lore is the backbone of the game and without it then we are basically playing in the plumb pudding of fantasy rpgs. The lore is what makes the world and the game itself, unique. I try not to break the lore, although I admit to not being so well versed that I don't do something by accident. Once I know better, I tend to adjust my roleplay accordingly. •Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I use says almost exclusively IC. Linkshells, tells, and other sorts of contact I adjust based on who I am speaking with. If a LS is mostly OOC then I use it for OOC, but if it is designed to be a hub for RP, then roleplay it is. 7. <-- Has degree with a focus on Egyptology. Where do I even begin . . .
  8. Thanks. I appreciate any info I can get. It is a little disappointing to hear that they don't get into more detail concerning the link between emotion and magic, but I like the reference to monks and chakra. Again, thank you.
  9. I really love the bold look you give your work. Any time you feel bored and want to sketch up Benedict I'd be honored.
  10. Roe women are always so striking to me . . .Anyway, here is a screenshot of Benedict.
  11. That at least lets me know I'm on the right track. Thank you. I am greatly looking forward to playing through the storyline. I am currently working my way through the quest content to unlock heavensward. You take a year haitus and the whole world falls apart . . . Thanks for the reply.
  12. I am planning on roleplaying Benedict as a Dark Knight and so I have done some light reading about the Dark Knight and I'm trying to get a feel for the nature of their power and abilities without revealing spoilers about the storyline. I figured I would ask the RPC to give me a synopsis without relying on story specifics. From what I gather they gain power from their emotions, but I am not sure this is exactly correct. How does this translate into magic? As it seems they do indeed wield their own form of magic. Clarification would be most appreciated. Also, if you have time please look over my wiki, as it is a work in progress, to get an idea of the character as he stands now. https://wiki.ffxiv-roleplayers.com/pages/Benedict_Whiteraven Thank you for any feedback and assistance.
  13. This, exactly! Welcome and I look forward to rping with you some time!
  14. I will have to do the same, assuming you'll have me. I would love to expand my rp connections. I have recently returned to Balmung, as well as, the RPC in general. I took about a year hiatus and have struggled with meeting/interacting with other roleplayers on the server.
  15. Welcome aboard! I love the colors in your signature. Feel free to look Benedict up any time.
  16. Welcome! I too have tried to get in on RP at the normal hubs but in my experiences there seems to be so much going on that walkup rp can be missed or ignored. With that being said, when things are less chaotic and you can communicate more one on one or to a small group then I have found the rp community to be very open and welcoming. I look forward to seeing Garrett about Eorzea (Benedict is has also been bit by the wanderlust bug).
  17. Welcome! I'm recently returned to rp on Balmung from a hiatus from the game, so if you ever want to do some rp, let me know!
  18. Your work is simply amazing. I'd love to work with you when I return to the game (about a week or so). It would be nice to get a picture of Benedict for his return, especially since he left as a Paladin and will be returning as a Dark Knight.
  19. I did have a female Roe, but I will be making a comeback with my male Midlander. Female Roes though, so striking. Anyway, thank you both and any help being pointed in the direction of fellow rpers is always appreciated.
  20. Is this still going on? I doubt anyone would remember me but I will be coming back to Balmung in about a week and would love to have an avenue to jump back into the rp community.
  21. Hey all, I am planning to come back to Balmung and FF after a very long break. I am an avid rper and wanted to also make a return to these forums. I am curious how the RP community has fared in the past year? I have heard that things are no where close to what they use to be, sadly. I'd be very interested in reconnecting with old friends as well as meeting new ones. Anyway, cheers and I hope the RPC is as active and welcoming as it use to be.
  22. Np Konner, You are missed btw. I wish we had a closer play times. I posted a notice about the Coffer and Coffin night on my FC site, so maybe you will at least get to see some of our people there even if Skaenmoen can't make it.
  23. Saturday, December 19th? December 19th is a Thursday. So the 21st then?
