  1. It seems certain directions from the cities have different strength'd enemies. For instance, East of Gridania is pretty much a deathtrap, while south is easy enough, and North-West is medium (for me that is).
  2. First and foremost, find enemies that are at least green. If you're losing to green, double-check your equipment and abilities. There's either sub-par equipment putting you in jeopardy or your ability rotation isn't optimal. EX: THM, spamming Scourge and Banish got me killed. Using them occasionally with a heavy reliance on Sacrifice and Phantom Dart results in me winning against orange /cons.
  3. There may very well be the same kind of keystroke available here, but I really don't know about it, this is the only way I can see how to move my macros. If someone more familiar with FFXI tries it and finds out how to save the macros server-side, by all means let me know.
  4. So if you're awesome like me, you play FFXIV on fourteen hundred different PCs, all of which need the macros mostly for job/equipment changes. Problem is, FFXIV doesn't save the macros on the server, despite being rather small anyway. So, here are some instructions on how to move, backup, and replace your saved macros. 1) Open Windows XP: ..\My Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV\user\((NUMBER))\ Windows Vista/7: ..\users\USERNAME\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV\user\((NUMBER))\ 2) Find "mcr0", yes there is no extension for this file. Copy that to another machine in the corresponding folder. 3) Start FFXIV, and enjoy.
  5. That or just self-censor. I have no problems using asterisks in place of expletives and I'd rather do that then let some auto-censor system do it. That said, if an auto-censor system is in place, then I wouldn't worry about it.
  6. Sounds like someone uninstalled it from your machine. Installed programs don't just disappear like that.
  7. People need to start leaving this off lists. Really... That's how the industry works. I disagree. While I can (to some extent) accept repeated terrain, the degree to which these landmarks repeat themselves in one journey is distracting and less immersive. Is it a major problem, not really. But it's still a problem.
  8. All patches were gathered using uTorrent (MicroTorrent). D2010.09.18 ~5.4MB ~50 seconds (108KB/s) D2010.09.19 ~414.6MB ~12 minutes (575KB/s) D2010.09.23 ~6.4MB ~40 seconds (160KB/s) D2010.09.28 ~17.9MB ~1.5 minutes (198KB/s) Guesstimates only
  9. Ah? So are aggressive monsters no longer given any sort of pre-aggro grace period before they notice and attack someone who they spawned on top of or within their aggro zone, as was the case of XI? Shoddy bit of programming and unfairness, there. Yeah, I've been smacked upside the head a number of times by inopportune spawns by these freakin' fish that live outside of water. They spawn, and hit me before I can even see them on the map or in front of me.
  10. Pros [*]Beautiful World and Scenery [*]Interesting and Mildly-Addictive Crafting [*]Interesting and Addictive Gathering [*]Easy Access to All Jobs/Classes/Etc. [*]Easy Mix-and-Match Job Abilities[/list:u] Cons [*]Noticably Repeated Landmarks [*]Terrible "Targeting" Algorithm ("Tab Targeting") [*]Severe Combat Latency [*]Aggressive Mobs Spawn On Players[/list:u] Pretty simple list so far. I might expand on it later.
  11. I've gotten into a bit of trouble with my Linkshell once or twice over this. I do emote thoughts on occasions, feelings as well since they definitely inflect a body stance or (as said before) an inflection that otherwise would be nearly impossible to put into words without delving into a massive amount of mathematics. The character limit does indeed put a stop to a lot of my attempts to add these to my character's actions, but without the inflected feelings behind the actions and words, the character falls flat and is about as two-dimensional as a character's actual dimensions in Paper Mario. Is it meta-gaming? Not really, so long as it isn't taken for granted.
  12. Speaking of Zero Punctuation.
  13. Yeah... I don't think his APB videos were "glowing", but they basically showed a kind of "it had promise" perspective. I take BFF's position with a grain of salt. I've never played Minecraft.
  14. The guy is funny to watch on occasions, though he certainly should stay away from calling his stuff "reviews".
  15. While the guy is humorous to watch and I enjoy his discussions, this one seemed a bit off at least on the first half. http://www.zam.com/bffreport.html?bffreport=41 I wonder if there's any MMO that he really likes.
  16. Patch D2010.09.28.0000.patch has been added.
  17. The run to the others is almost nothing though, so I wouldn't worry too much.
  18. 1:45- Don't interrupt me jerk!
  19. Just bought my own copy. Played a four-hour long multiplayer game against my boss and some of my customers. Four hours long because we had to wait for people to remember that they had to hit end-turn. Ugh.
  20. If they tell me to take it down, I will. Until then, I'll keep providing the service as needed. The best thing I can recommend to SE is have an alternative method to download patches. One method does not inherently work with everyone. I don't mean to sound rude or too aggressive on the matter, Square-Enix as a company has just been bothering me as of late.
  21. You have to extract the patch file using either 7zip or Winrar. I tweaked the instructions so they are a bit more clear.
