  2. In an earlier post I mentioned that Geno Segers as Chayton Littlestone was a good one for Berrod. For Blood though, I decided that the best voice for him would be mine! I recorded a few lines from RP I had on him. It's not the best (far from it, it's actually pretty terrible), but it's closest to what I imagine his voice to be!
  3. I've played a lot of sad scenes, but none of them have really brought me to tears. That's fine; it's really tough to make me cry for fiction anyway (The post-vault scene doesn't count damnit, I was running on zero sleep and VULNERABLE!). My RP partners and I -DO- yap about it in skype and stuff though...and yell at each other...
  4. Lol I dunno which monks you hang out with, but all the monks I know are STOKED for those weapons, including myself!
  5. Don't forget holding you up on advancing the MSQ as well. Don't listen to these yahoos, they did it without the sync option! It's a game, it's always supposed to be about fun! BACK OFF, GRUMPY GRANDPAS. Seriously though, it's up to your personal preference. If you just want it out of the way to advance in the MSQ, grab two other level 60 folks for an unsynced undersized party! If you'd like to experience the fight to something close to the fullest (and win lol), Unlock Dzemael Darkhold, get yourself to 45, do your Artifact Gear quest and jump back in there! Either way is viable, and you get it done. It's just a matter of how you want to do it. Have fun!
  6. Back in 2.0 when I was leveling Berrod, our group kept wiping to Garuda's limit break, even though we managed to keep a decent number of the rocks up. What we ended up doing was grinding to 45 to get the four pieces of Artifact gear. That gear gave us a significant boost and made the trial lots easier! We were able to endure the damage and push on. Gear matters for Garuda Normal! You can always do an undersized party of non-synced folks, but where's the fun in that?
  7. I think this is what turns people off lalafell is the stereotype of Popotos and such. I feel a lot of lalafell players arnt taken seriously and dont rp at all and so as a rper of another race you dont see many. A shining example of Lalafell done right would be Gus Pumpkinweed. But Berrod doesn't take Gus seriously at all. Not to say that the character isn't good, or isn't done right, I think he achieves what he sets out for. But if you're looking for Lalafells that you want to be taken SERIOUSLY then you may need another example. A character done right and a character that ought be taken seriously are two different things.
  8. If someone wants me to take their character seriously, they need to write them in a manner that'll prompt me to do so. I've come across so many obnoxiously childish (and sometimes mega creepy) Lalafell characters that it takes a bit more for them to earn the benefit of the doubt. It's a case by case thing, really.
  9. In this case though it's the devs coming out and specifically saying "This is just like how it is in the game, except for the ways it isn't because that would be too troublesome to represent accurately." Why not just leave it alone? They -have- left it alone though. We're the ones who messed with it by having our own headcanons!
  10. They left it up to us to tell those stories. We're the weapon X projects, we're the ones capable of playing the supervillains. The teleporting lore is for US. Most of us are just too biased against it to use it -- which is fine, but the setting itself isn't really cheapened by it other than it not being what some of us want it to be -- and that's -our- problem and limitation, not the lore's. It's just a thing -- and it has ALWAYS been a thing, very little of this is new! A lot of us have managed to make it work well with our stories already, and the people who WOULD take undue, disruptive advantage of it have already been doing so. Business goes on as usual!
  11. I get what you're saying, but even if 10% of people are able to do it, that's still a huge number of individuals with a gross advantage and it certainly would have had world repercussions, yet somehow hasn't been touched on until now? I dunno, I guess it rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I would've preferred they ignored teleportation? Its one of the more game-y aspects of the world and really doesn't need concrete lore. But I'm just complaining at this point ;D It hasn't been touched until now because WE haven't touched it. They placed that lore-to-gameplay connection for us, the players, who are meant to represent adventurers in the world. We're the ones who chose to ignore it for the sake of roleplaying along the lines of a certain convention.
  12. Notice that the requirements of Return are stated 'compared to Teleport'. It's relative. I'm pretty sure Return still requires a certain threshold of anima not available to the layman. Sure it's less taxing. That however, does not mean that it is not taxing at all. There is nothing up there that suggests anyone can teleport willy-nilly.
  13. The healers were likely conscripted folks and not the purebloods!
  14. I hope people dress as someone who actually wears a cup to a fight. BUT YES GOOD.
  15. Speaking as someone who did not come into the game as a Final Fantasy buff, I can completely agree with the reasoning given for the change in spell names. It is easier to read, more concise, and unmistakable. Take this for example: Two raiders on voice chat during a raid, both healers. They're from different places, with different accents. One healer tries to communicate 'Cura' to the other, but the other hears it as 'Cure' because of his accent. Whoops! Or perhaps he tries to communicate 'Curaja' and the other hears 'Curaga'. While it is a good novelty to go with the old spell names (I mean, I like them too, don't get me wrong!), ultimately it's just not ideal for a game so widespread among so many people with different backgrounds, manners of speech -- and it may certainly get confusing to those who are just starting out and trying to learn what the hell the spell names do. 'Cure one' is unambiguous and straightforward! I can see why they did it. A simple matter of function over fancy, and a wise choice.
  16. Kudos to Reiner Dorn and Restless Wind for that engaging spot of roleplay last night! Looking forward to more!
  17. The All Saints Wake event is in the general area of Mih Khetto's, will it still be hosted there?
  18. The Monk gear is something Berrod can wear to fancy parties...I'm so excited for this stuff agggh
  19. Sadly enough au ra weren't around on Eorzea before HW (With a select few who came with the Domans, but they kept themselves out of sight, knowing Eorzea is racist as fuck). So I fear your backstory is one who you really couldn't do if you want it to be lorewise correct, but in the end, its your subscription you're paying, and your character. That's not entirely accurate, since the DRK shows us that there were Au Ra in Coerthas before. Granted, things sucked for them. Yeah but... that sort of included being executed, and generally not being treated nicely to say the least Might just have been Ishgard. In truth, I'm 100% sure if they weren't a playable race, they would be happily still executed for looking like dragon/voidspawns, and treated just as shitty as beasttribes ;_; but hey... Agreed on that one! Also I forgot to answer the OP. Given that Yugiri went through some effort to conceal her appearance (granted it was more of a 'WE AIN'T DONE WITH THE MODEL YET' cop-out) in Ul'Dah, it wouldn't mesh well with a home grown one. I don't really see anything wrong with a pre-heavensward Au Ra though I wouldn't play one myself...-- I mean, at LEAST some of the Kha tribe could have made contact, right? It's the visibility I'd be concerned with. Even if he was around, it's likely no one would have seen him for what he is. There are easy ways around this; glamours perhaps? A lot of folks went with that route... OR. If he's an axeman you could have him be centered around Vylbrand? A crew member on an exploration vessel perhaps? Maybe they picked him up on a trip? Just shooting ideas here.
