1. Pffft! RP never sleeps! Just because the next big event isn't until next Saturday doesn't mean there won't be more RP around this in the mean time...
2. Ah, I wasn't aware that the law had confiscated a barrel of poison. That does change things. That said, I don't buy the "hiding out" argument. Ul'dah is a large place, and the only evidence of the attack that most people would be aware of would be a moderate explosion. How many people would hear that and think "attack!", instead of just "construction accident"? I can appreciate that we're trying to pull back from "zomg, everyone is dead meat!", but it feels a little bit like we're trying to handwave in mitigations to something that was handwaved to be worse than it needed to be. Again, I'm not pointing fingers, nor am I trying to say "Askier/Osric, you ruin everything!". It's a fun arc, I'm happy I'm part of it. I just want these aspects of the arc to be in scale with the rest of it.
3. See, my main concern with the water supply poisoning is that there really isn't any way for this to happen. The poison takes three to nine hours to show effects, and then kills its victims four to twenty hours after that. So the first victims wouldn't start showing up until at least three hours after they drank at the well. Since people were already coming down sick in the refugee camps, the connection to the water might not be made for a while after that. The attack took place in the evening, so I can picture a lot of people getting water for their evening meals before the first people start showing symptoms.
4. I hear you, but what starting to bother me is the absoluteness of the scope of this. Every source of water in Ul'dah has been contaminated with a toxin that kills people within 24 hours. That goes beyond "increasing tension". Speaking personally, what I'd like to know is: Shouldn't the NPC guards of the city be able to prevent some of the water supplies being poisoned? How lethal is the poison when it's at the dilution it would be in the water supply? What percentage of the population is susceptible to that? If Jin'li was able to do this undetected, how was anyone able to find out that it even happened? What percentage of the population drank a lethal dose of the poison before that happened? If I were running Ul'dah, and I became aware that this had happened, I'd assume someone was attacking the city. I'd focus on mitigation, but I'd also call up everyone who could hold a sword and ready a defense. This includes both guarding the Sultana (event 2) and the aetheryte (event 3). How will that affect those two events? This is a large event, and as large events often go, things go awry because people aren't aware of the whole picture. My concern is that this makes it too easy for the villains to achieve victories* that would have long term ramifications which are difficult to play out. This is a big wall of text, I know. I don't want to sound like an Angry Andy, and I don't want to sound like I'm calling Askier or Osric out for putting this together - this is a fantastic arc, and it's been a lot of fun to play in it (as it was to play in their last arc). I just feel that the actual details of these tension-increasing events need some clarification.
5. Every water source? So, literally, everyone in the city should now be suffering the effects of the toxin? And dying, since death occurs by the twenty hour point?
6. I remember you from back when I started, and I loved the idea! You inspired me to start doing villain RP, myself. If you do end up on Balmung (which it sounds like you have), please look me up because I think we could end up being fantastic RP resources for one another.
7. I will pay your FC fee if you create one called "Bexy's Midnight Runners"...

10. He remembered first seeing her, a bright but shy girl-child with soft pink hair in the house of her father. C'kayah had brought him an unusual delivery, explosives that many considered too unstable to carry, and the Hyur had invited him to stay for dinner. He'd adopted the Miqo'te, taken her in when he found her starving. It was an all-too-common story in the weeks following the Calamity. He remembered her shining pale eyes when he gave her a clockwork chocobo. She'd thrown herself in his arms and he felt she might never let him go. He remembered her reading the books of poetry, of politics, little volumes of history and intrigues he would bring her when he came. She'd become the bright point in his trips to Thanalan, and he made it a point to always bring her a little gift. She was a delight, and he loved her like a doting uncle. He remembered seeing her graceful form as she danced, as she walked, as she sat. He didn't know when his love for her changed from the chaste love of a relation to a more carnal desire, but he took pains to hide it away. She was the daughter of a friend, and not even seventeen. He remembered the looks they would give each other over dinner. Looks that promised something they both knew could never happen. He remembered meeting her later. She was an adult then, and her too-bright eyes seemed to pierce him. They admitted what they never had, but he was mated to another and could not act on his feelings for her. He remembered painful months. Remembered her pain, and his own, each time causing them to flee each other before inevitably drawing them back to one another. He remembered the look of betrayal in her pale eyes when left her. It didn't matter to her the reason. Didn't matter that someone he cared about was in trouble and needed his help. Didn't matter that he would have done the same thing for her. All that mattered to her was that he was leaving. She had grown into a woman, yet was still a child in so many ways. This could not go on. He could never change how he felt about her, no more than she could about him. But he would not be the cause of her harm anymore. The link pearl cracked as he brought his boot down on it, then split into two uneven halves. He picked them up and held them in his hand, before tossing them into the stream. A brief pain shot through his heart as he did so, then he felt a weight lift from his soul. This terrible love which had nearly claimed both their lives would not do so any longer. He walked away, his step light, whistling tunenessly to himself.
11. Holy crap, Tiergan! That's so good! You've really captured Osric there perfectly!
12. C'kayah grinned languorously, his eyes taking on a distant look. He tugged at a cord around his neck, withdrawing a small bag of fine, supple leather from inside his shirt. A flame colored feather dangled from it, tied securely with waxed thread. He loosened the thread closing the bag slipping a lock of pale pink hair from within. A fine ribbon tied the hair, and he held it as if it were an item of great value to him. He smiled at it, as if at a long-departed lover, before replacing it in the bag and slipping it back inside his shirt. "Now that we've had this question, let me ask a new one: If you were to die tomorrow but have any one thing you wanted today, what would it be?"
13. Ul'dah is the city of a thousand stories, with an underworld so complex and ever-changing that even those tasked to police it have given up on fully understanding it. Within this varied landscape sits one organization among many: Tylwyth Narah, the sea-spirits. Small in numbers, they are notable mainly in that they are evidently a Roegadyn Sea Wolf gang in a desert city. While we have our own RP that we do, we tend to focus on unscripted cross-FC roleplay. Here's the way it works: We are an in-character organized crime syndicate on the Balmung server. If you need some villain for your RP arc, contact us and we'll provide it. We'll help work out IC reasons why Tylwyth Narah would be involved, and provide you with short- or long-term foils for your characters to struggle against. Not everyone in Tylwyth Narah is willing to participate in any kind of RP, but there are enough dark RP enthusiasts to support anything you might want to do. We're all on board with the idea that, as foils and supporting actors in other people's stories, we aren't necessarily going to succeed at what we do. For the most part, we expect to lose - though we often will lose very stylishly! We can also put you in contact with a group of players portraying Sultansworn/Immortal Flame officers, for the law-and-order side of the equation. If you're interested in including Tylwyth Narah in your RP, either use the contact for here or get ahold of any of our officers in game. We operate as a linkshell, to allow members to remain in their free companies, though we also operate a Tylwyth Narah FC for those members who don't have one. Our current list of recruiting officers is: Alexander Mason Khivva Nhys L'lani Tyata
14. There's also the Quicksand Appreciation Society. It's a mixed IC/OOC linkshell for people who RP around Ul'dah a lot. It's pretty active, and quite friendly.
15. Personal Profile Character Name: C'kayah Tia Gender: Male Race: Miqo'te, Seeker of the Sun Domestic Profile Civil Status: Part-time resident, non-citizen Place of Residence: Apartment near the Aftcastle Occupation: Criminal Free Company: Tylwyth Narah Social Profile Nominally a resident of Ul'dah, C'kayah maintains homes across Hydaelyn as part of his smuggling operations. He's recently joined a Rogadyn criminal syndicate, Tylwyth Narah, and occupies a position high within the heirarchy. This brings him to Limsa far more often, and he's begun to rent a home there. He probably spends about 25% of his time in the city. Meta Profile I'm IC probably 80% of the time, and always happy to RP! I run Tylwyth Narah, which is a criminal FC. We do our own RP, but we also are available to act as villains in other people's arcs. I'm available most evenings.
16. This was a lot of fun! I want to thank [Tea?] for putting this together, and good luck on getting your house!
17. Wait... Yangh the deadly assassin and cruel bane of all who cross her path is... a tea house hostess?
18. C'kayah laughed delightedly and waved for a fresh drink. "Bring one for our new friend, as well! What a delightful answer, my friend! Pray tell, do elaborate on that."
19. Alright, I'll bite! For C'kayah, his main motivation in life is to be: (Giacomo Casanova) However, real life and his natural talents have conspired to force him to be more like: While any reasonably attractive woman can turn him into: Much to his detriment (but the benefit of any conflict-driven RP)
20. C'kayah laughed coldly, his eyes flashing with barely suppressed cruelty. "Since we are speaking honestly, if you were to answer for me, you'd probably say my greatest pleasure was walking away from you, my nunh..." He snorted and rolled his eyes before chuckling coolly. "Until today, I would have said that the simple pleasures in life involve good food, good drink, and spending time with those I care about. Last night, however", he said, his eyes taking on a distant look, his expression softening and warming, "a child fell asleep in my arms while his mother sang him a lullaby. That was perhaps the simplest and most sublime experience of my life."
21. "Yesss", C'kayah grinned, drawing out the word like he was unsheathing a sword. "Your loved ones have caused me a great deal of excitement, too. Which brings up the next question: What's the greatest betrayal you've ever suffered?
22. "Fights?" C'kayah laughed. "So many people thinking only of fights for their excitement? Granted, fights are so...primal. But they're only a means to an end, really. "For me, nothing is quite so exciting as time spent alone with a lover. Honestly, Menphina smiles upon every hour so spent."
