1. forgive the newbish question, but where do augments even come from?
2. guess I'm late to the party, but the dreads look great
3. With A'kos, his normal style would have the twirls and flips of the rogue/ninja skill set, as well as the kicks. He's a fast, very nimble fighter and uses them like dance steps. It's not to different from his 'unarmed' style, which fits with his mechanic Pugilist level, as he doesn't have many aether enhanced moves yet, so no ground erupting air punching whatevers, but he knows how to use his body and put the hurt on the other guy. It's the use of two blades and all the kicks that really suits his combat style, and the more magical type ninja moves. Hand signs would be a new but not totally foreign concept, as he would be used to drawing sigils and symbols in the air to make his simple magics work. His abilities as a true Disciple of Magic are next to nothing though, and I'm not sure if I really want to change that, but we'll see how rping him goes. Mechanic wise, when I played in 1.0 as a different character, Gladiator was my main class. I'm not sure how good he is with the weapons, but seeing as how I like swords he probably has some skill with them, since sooner or later I'll go back to my first love, (swords, not neccesarily Gladiator). Any other kind of move he learns, he tries to incorporate it into his preferred fighting style.
4. I'll be looking forward to it  getting my feet wet is trickier than I imagined after all this time.

Looks interesting, I like the investigation type of themes, and particularly for A'kos the idea of smuggling people out of the Garlean empire Looking forward to recruitment starting back up.
6. Best thing of my day
7. I haven't gotten into rping yet in game, I'm just shy like that, getting back into a community and all But one thing I'm sure of with A'kos, is that he's familiar with magitek devices, their use and some simple maintenance. Not that anyone would know it to approach him, but if he saw someone trying to figure something out he would be tempted to show them how it works.
8. Will try to get A'kos there. Who has no idea what a maid cafe is.
9. A'kos would be very interested in this, looking forward to the next one
10. I. Basic Info Characters: A'kos Saiyal, Midlander male, Ardent Sun, Hellguard female Primary character: A'kos Saiyal Linkshells: None Primary RP linkshell: None, but would like to change that, and join a FC II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium is what I'm most comfortable answering with. I can rp anytime and almost anything, but sometimes I need a break from anything IC. To me, 'heavy' implies that you are IC 24/7. Views on RP combat and injuries: Nothing without consent, and if someone were to say my character was permanently injured, that character would think they were nuts. I don't like rp'd fights anyway, as no one ever agrees on a system, so I'd likely only get into one with someone I knew well (ooc at least) anyway. Views on IC romance: I'm a fan, though it depends on the character. A'kos is a young guy in a land filled with beautiful women, he's definitely interested  Ardent on the other hand sees romance as a distraction to her studies and can't be bothered. OOC I have to be comfortable with the other player. Player and character are separate of course, but if I'm not cool with the other person, I'm not going to get to the level of trust I need to rp that. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): All about it. I like family rp and camaraderie, but also adventures and doing things like dungeons IC. Views on lore: It's interesting, and I enjoy every bit I can find. I just wish I didn't have to risk spoilers to learn all I want to learn, which is everything. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Hard to communicate otherwise in game I thought this question was about things like Vent or teamspeak until I read the examples. I'll do most rp in /say if that's what's going on. Linkshells are fine with me, just another chat channel with a (possible) theme. III. Other Info Country:United States. Timezone:Eastern Contact info:Can send me whispers in game or pm me here. Emails are for friends. [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow]
11. A'kos being pretty much an immigrant himself figures they're just people his home country doesn't have for whatever reason. So, to him they're in the same boat as most beast tribes (Save goblins) only civilized. A'kos and the Au Ra might as well gotten off the boat together.
12. Hellooo. I'm another returning player here, though in my case the last time I played it was still 1.0 so I feel like I've pretty much just started a new game. Except with the ever swanky asuran gauntlets. I'm still getting used to things again, learning as I go can be a little tedious but manageable. I used to rp all the time in ver 1.0 up until I left the game for greener pastures with some friends. I can't say anything in particular has brought me back, not the expansion, but it felt like a good time to return and see how the world has changed. So lets check out this template thinger... --MMORPG background Most of them? I played EQ, but Asheron's Call was my first mmo love. Not strictly a mmo, but persistant servers for NWN. Also; WoW AC2 EQ2 Aion Sword of the New World Dungeons and Dragons Online (great rp community back then) Neverwinter Online SWTOR The Repopulation alpha (and when it's released) Phantasy Star Online 1 and 2 Blade and Soul for a little while. Small horde of free Asian mmo's Somewhat larger horde of stuff I know I'm forgetting. --RP experience Heh, well I started rping in the Red Dragon Inn back when AoL was bright and shiny new. But I've rp'd in all the games above except for Repop and the PSO's. Besides mmo's, I've done a lot of table top, play by posts and chats online, and some larping. Since when I did the larping I thought it'd be like hiking/camping with swords. I was kinda right. --Character ideas/info A'kos is the remade main I played in ver 1.0. I wanted to connect them somehow but with only 6 or 7 years (game + real time) I couldn't make him a kid. I think I'll just say they're from the same place originally, an island nation outside of Limsa Lominsa's borders. Not that it really matters, A'kos is a Lominsan essentially. Besides being swashbucklery and seemingly carefree, I don't have much for him unfortunately. I usually have lots of information on most aspects of a character. This guy though? Nope, likes booze but can't hold his liquor as well as he thinks, likes fighting, loves the Rogues guild, and wants his own personal airship. (I know it's possible I saw a mount!) I wouldn't mind assistance here. --How did you learn about the coalition? Came about it looking through the Balmung official forum. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Probably medium, I'll rp anything, and do any activity IC. But if I'm with non rp'ers I probably won't. And sometimes I don't have the energy. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? I'm a school teacher on summer break, so I have lots of time. I like to write and build/customize Gundam kits. Other things but I've written enough already  Thanks for having me
13. Lucky indeed. At the moment I have been reduced to rotating my alts so I have some way to progress when my guildleves are on cooldown on one character. At this rate I'll have a fully fleshed out character, skill wise, in oh.. a year.. maybe more? *Scratches head* How bad was the leveling in Aion/FFXI again? I thought SE said they wanted to move away from that. In Aion, it was a breeze until you hit mid level, then you tripped over a pretty hard fence, halfway through the mid levels, you were introduced to a brick wall. High levels? Well, brick wall, covered in grease, with you handed rubber gloves, then told to climb it.
14. You can reassign points every thirty minutes Incidental, what sort of magic do you want to use? If you want to min/max your options. Healing =MND Direct Damage = INT Debuff = PIE Pie is good for direct damage spells too mind you, its your accuracy after all, but if you weren't interested in that, you could even out INT. Healing is only boosted by the MND stat and doesn't miss your allies.
15. I'll always have a fondness for frell
16. Some names might be silly and appear as out of game at first, but some of those could also be looked at as nick names. My character did some business with a nice gentleman by the name of Fiddler Crab last night.
17. I like Therese Felspar or Therese Felhold. I can't say much for the duskwights culturally, besides they see their wildwood cousins as traitors and look at the hyur as invaders
18. On the subject of navigating the cities, that'll be a personal matter I think. Limsa is pretty easy for me, whlie Gridania is the most straight forward. Ul'dah just confused me so I try not to hang out there long. I agree with the other assesments, though I'd like to add that Gridania seems to have the most mobs for grinding.
19. Great lineup in the banner Tagyr's captions are also pretty spot on with what I thought when I looked at it. And the ladies are looking pretty cute, and quite attractive :approve: *shines a spotlight on Therese*
20. Well, Cure was mentioned specifically as having its aggro generation reduced come launch, perhaps other spells as well.
21. The beginning of the main questline is different for each city, but eventually they all converge into a single story according to SE. Other than that and where guilds are located, not much difference. Xzen started in Limsa and has spent several days in Gridania lately.
22. Thaum/Lancer seems a fairly popular choice, on FFXIVCore.com there is a guide to making that combo. You may want skills from other classes as well, but really its all viable.
23. They've said there will be PVP in the future, but are working on it still. A good combo for Thaum, first thing that comes to mind is Conj, and if you like tanking then you'll want a mix of Glad and perhaps some Marauder. As for stats, its kind of like that, but the physical stats all work well for for DoW and casting stats are the same for DoM. But tanking I'd say Vit then a balance between STr and Dex, its good to keep in mind your style of combat. For casting, what kind of magic do you want? Attacks,Debuff, buffs, healing? Int will increase the power of your attacks, while Pie will boost your accuracy. Mnd gives more MP and supposedly( I haven't tested it myself in retail) boosts your healing magic. Character concepts are supremely useful here, not just for rp, but for mechanics as well.
