  1. Aysun has a stereotypical taste for fish, raw. She also greatly enjoys pastries and sweets, and they are a real treat, because they are expensive for her to purchase and she can't make them herself. Tea is a must, she finds her own leaves and makes her own usually (and is really terrible at it, usually with quite a bit of dreg still in it, but she clearly makes it to her own taste). She doesn't care for fruit, because they're /too/ sweet, but will eat them. Doesn't care for red meat / dodo / mutton either but won't turn it away. She really dislikes crayfish. A lot. Disgusting things. But again, you eat what you have to! And of course, she had developed quite a drinking problem over the last year or so, and is very partial to any quality rum or ale.
  2. OH. Okay. x3 So many welcome threads I missed the Pastry Army's

    Hello!

Welcome! School+job+husband+life+FFXIV can get a little overwhelming, but is totally possible. I did it!
  4. Welcome! Glad you found your way here and hope to see you in game. Don't get too overwhelmed. Everything will fall into place and you'll have plenty of people to help you along the way.

    Hello There!

Welcome! I was going to say something else.. and I literally forgot. PRETTY HIGHLANDER *Highlander5FAIL*.. I'm too short. ._.
  6. Welcome! ..Pastry Army? x3
  7. Still 20, as far as we know. We are "untouched by time" according to a trailer. So, no, the time-skippers did not age. I put it on my wiki as Age 19 (according to her) / 24 (according to her nameday)
  8. Yes, Eorzea has cats (and dogs). There are NPCs of other races who I have seen refer to Miqo'te as kittens, so I'm sure there are jokes. My own character tends to take offense to those jokes, but I'm not sure if NPC Miqo'te do. Some may just milk it for what it's worth to get what they want out of someone. The ones who are more tribal in nature also use words that are more animal-associated (mane, for example, for hair), so it's not really surprising that some NPCs just see them as another kind of cat. The racial differences in this game are interesting. While Eorzea is a melting pot, the races still appear pure, which has always lead me to believe that when they do interbreed the child will take the main race/clan trait of one or the other parent. You don't see Lalafells with cat tails, or even something like a Miqo'te who is clearly a Keeper of the Moon by skin tone with slitted pupils. Culturally, there are plenty of stereotypes, as you've noticed the dancing/prostituting Miqo'te thing - however there are plenty that do not adhere to them as well (and there are Hyur prostitutes too! I found some! ). SE has said one of the reasons that the reason cross-breeds are rare is due to cultural differences between the races. It would be hard, I imagine, for a traditional tribal Miqo'te to marry someone they love, when she grew up in a society in which there is one male to thirty females? As Rhynka pointed out, there are indeed "city Miqo'te" from what I've seen. There's also plenty of racism between races, which is incredibly entertaining to me to see in quest lines. One that comes to mind because I just saw it the other day during beta was the Wildwood Elezen who was incredibly disgusted by a Keeper of the Moon's archery. Saying she was not fit to use a bow, desecrating his noble art, etc. Plenty of tolerance though, too.. My own character I made intentionally distant from the "traditional" Miqo'te, because when I created her I had no lore to use and didn't want to just hijack the lore from XI. Upon finding out that's what SE did, I decided her grandparents were the ones who left the tribal life. I had her grow up on a boat, with her mother and a bunch of sailors, mostly Hyur. She sought out other Miqo'te when she went to the adventuring life. Since meeting many and seeing how many of those of her race are, she has developed a dislike of them. And the males, she's always disliked (daddy issues+meeting some rather unsavory ones in RP). Which is hard, because she was raised to be proud of being a Miqo'te. ..I'm completely rambling. But seeing people embrace racial differences in this game is something I really like.
  9. We do has battle bards! I just said I'm one. I just don't usually.. play it up. Like it's not a huge part of my character. Bards in this game are two things really to me. There's the battle bard, who is an archer that uses an instrument/voice to cast magic like a mage does with their staff/wand. Then there's the tavern bard, who tells stories, sings songs, does poetry.. They can be both, or they can be one or the other. It's pretty interesting.
  10. Psssst! This is what the character reference thread is for, not individual artists art threads (unless they specifically say they're looking for people to draw). Here's the link.
  11. I'd be more into bards if they weren't so common already. Don't wants to step on the more bardy peoples toes. Aysun technically is one ICly, when Bard was introduced as a job I introduced it into her story by making an NPC that she interacted with and learned about it (rather than using the actual job quest). But she'll always be more archer than "bard" and I don't really play it up IC during combat situations due to awkward ("So.. so you just whip out a harp during battle..?" ). She's always been a dancer though. *waits patiently* OOCly, BRD and WHM are my mains. I can tell you in 1.0, Bard was incredibly fun and incredibly important (huge role in the Garuda fight, for example). It is easily my favorite job.
  12. I'm wondering what the "Posted for justice" is referring to. I'm not really surprised that they're restricting it at first to ensure that the transfers worked properly. I plan on logging on to Balmung mostly just to see if there are any more clues to what happened to the time-skippers so I can start RPing. Once I figure that out, I'll be back on Gilgamesh until new players can join us on Balmung.
  13. Must be part Keeper of the Moon. Dem fangs. Lol. Good stuff! Keep up the good work.
  14. Uther Abodo's UTHER'S right. Damn you changing your username right after I post to fix that I had called you Uther..

  18. I doubt that Miqo'tek is a Miqo'te-only LS, I think they're just playing on the fact that the founders are both Miqo'te. Send a PM to Aylis to clarify, I'm sure she wouldn't mind. Guilds/LS's and RPing--well, it really depends on the linkshell (LS). Guilds in FFXIV are different from other games. We get a physical item, called a linkshell or linkpearl, which you can hear and speak into to communicate with your guildies. So yes, you can (and very often do) have RP occurring via the linkpearl (audio only). Of course, people meet up and RP in person too, don't get me wrong. Sometimes, a pearl is used strictly for RP, sometimes it is used for OOC socialization (denoted by speaking in ((parentheses)) or [brackets]) as well as RP. And of course there are plenty of OOC only social and game-content related linkshells. People will talk about free companies too, which are a new feature that we don't know that much about yet, but are kind of like an "upgraded" LS with in-game benefits such as a guild house. Oh, and welcome!
  19. Welcome! I hope hope hope that you'll join us on Balmung!
