  1. Threw in a bunch more shots into my album that I took last night (before they started these ridiculous login restrictions).
  2. But this is just as bad, because then the players already on the server won't be able to get their friends on the server (and make no mistake - all of the NA servers are locked right now). They done cocked this up bad.
  3. And this is why you make sure you actually have a reasonable spread of servers for each region, instead of throwing a bunch of servers in for one island nation and the same number of servers for everywhere else. Who do I have to call to complain about this boneheadedness? Really, now...
  4. Welp, since we're stuck anyway, have a screenshot.
  5. This is correct. Japan has 25 servers for one island country. NA/EU has 25 servers for a smattering of different countries, two of which combined make up the entire continent. Needless to say, whoever decided on this server distribution is largely at fault here.
  6. Hmmmm. I'm not sure when the last time I suffered a launch like this was. I mean, Aion had queues, PSO2 had some pretty terrible lag, TERA... actually, pretty sure TERA was smooth, and for some reason I can't remember anything about GW2's launch (not sure if that's a good thing...), but I can't recall a single instance where I was completely unable to log-in on the second day whatsoever, and also unable to run any dungeons even when I can log in. This is really the worst early access period I've ever seen. Granted, I wasn't there for WoW's launch, or RIFT's, or TOR's, or TSW's, but you know, I really don't care. This is beyond incompetent. Someone, somewhere, really, really fucked it up. You could just say your character was born outside of a tribe, you know.
  7. Some amusement while you try to get back in.
  8. Yeesh. This is not cool, man. Not cool at all. When will I even be able to play this game? I wonder...
  9. FTFY. There's not going to be very many Chinese or Korean players on the Japanese servers, and I guarantee you that if there were, they would be seeing even more issues than we're seeing. The MMO player base in Korea and China DWARF the NA/EU player base. The market there is simply that huge.
  10. I feel sorry for the guys working on this stuff. They've been working overtime probably since Early Access began, and haven't had much in the way of breaks since. All the same, I don't understand why we're having so many issues to begin with...
  11. Servers are back up early. (Maintenance ended at 4:40 PDT instead of the scheduled time.)
  12. I'm just going to assume they've started the next maintenance early. Really would appreciate some forewarning on this, tho...
  13. Error 90000 and 10102 in full force now. Joys of joys! Oh, well. The perils of MMO early access...
  14. I can vouch for this one. Kind of gets repetitive during the second half, but that first half is pure gold. What's particularly impressive is how good the animation is throughout, despite the fact that it's a comedy series. The literal translation is "I Want a Girlfriend, But She Has 8th Grader Syndrome!" Pretty funny show. Interesting how it gets dramatic towards the end as well. Good show, but there are some pacing and production issues towards the middle. Still, the soundtrack is glorious! Have a taste. The others I haven't seen for myself, so I can't comment on them. Perhaps I'll give them a look-see (though I haven't heard good things about SAO, myself).
  15. Just for that, I'm posting PSO2 music in this thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeMdjIeJaPs
  16. Well, I put rage in the title because I thought it would be amusing, but I'm still kind of disappointed that this keeps happening (and to the NA/EU servers exclusively). Guess I'll get my time attacks done in PSO2 while I'm stuck here.
  17. Contain all of your anger and disappointment within this thread, as we are stuck for the next two hours and forty minutes as of this post. I find it amusing that all these terrible happenings only occur on NA/EU servers. I wonder what the dealio is?
  18. I'll be IC, but at the same time, my focus, at least in the first few days, will be in progression. Once the 'shiny-newness' feel wears off, I'll probably hang out more.
  19. If you watch the cinematic, Limsa Lominsa gets hit quite badly, actually.
  20. Garuda's theme... I need that in my veins.
  21. Oh boy! I hope this includes me as well, since I couldn't load my appearance data I ended up messing a few things up on T'rahnu...
  22. "Bloody hells!" works too, or alternatively "Bloody bells!" if you want to be funny. I don't expect to be all that sweary with my characters, but if I do, this thread will be useful for sure. "Damn you to the seventh hell!" "By Althyk's good grace!" "Feck that gobshite!" "By the Navigator!" "May the Fury take you, you godsdamned swindler!" I can do this all day!
  23. Well, between Warrior and Dragoon I'm all set here! Heh. I would like to see Blue Mage sometime soon, though... it's just such a wonderful class, though admittedly I don't know how they'd make it work in the framework of an MMO (and no, I didn't play FFXI).
  24. But it's the comparison here that's bad, not necessarily the "master of all" aspect. Someone saying they're better than someone else is always going to create tension, regardless of whether or not it's justified. One can have a character that's good at everything without it being godmoding, but of course saying that they're better than everyone else would be godmoding. In other words, godmoding is bad, in any context. That's as far as it goes, IMO. Context is important too, of course. FFXIV actually does support "master of all" characters, provided that there is enough investment in the player (and thus, presumably, the character) to do so. What it does not support is one character simply outshining all others for one reason or another (unlike, say, Aion, where the generals have the ability to transform into superpowered raid bosses). There is an upper ceiling, and most characters will hit one at some point within their lives, assuming they don't meet an early demise first. I personally enjoy writing about supremely overpowered characters and exploring how they interact with a world full of ordinary people, but that's something I do exclusively on my own time within my own established universe, and would be completely inappropriate in the context of an MMORPG where I'm expected to play nice with other players.
