Ah, thank you for the links, I was actually looking around for a discord but couldn't find any.
-
Not to sound contentious, but I am not sure how I (as a transgirl) feel about cis people RPing a trans character.

Is Balmung still the prime spot for RP or did everyone mostly move to Mateus since the other has been restricted since forever? I know we kinda spread out since the vanilla days. (ARR launch).

Air is a fuel source, I didn't say it was the only source. Which why if you suck out all the air from a room that's on fire, the fire will go out. Or some fire suppression systems use foam to smother the fire cutting it off from oxygen. It's also why backdraft is such a huge danger for firefighters. If you're cutting into a house that has a fire in it, it can explode into a huge fireball because it suddenly got access to more oxygen. And yes, you're right, blowing out candles does snuff the fire, but that's more of stronger force suppressing a weaker one. If air/wind always snuffed out fire we would use wind cannons to fight fires.... also people blow on sparks or embers when trying to start a campfire or the like. Rennaisance era alchemy which this is partially based on didn't have a concept of oxygen, but they did have observations and putting out fires using air/wind wasn't one of them.

How do they figure wind extinguishes fire? Wind is air, and oxygen is a fuel source for fire. Water or Earth would extinquish fire. If anything Wind would empower Fire.

So hows RP in Jenova? Balmung is forever full and Gilgamesh seems to be dead.. I may end up transferring a character.

I *hated* the Dreaming, except for the actual Dreaming part of the setting, which I thought was pretty good... my favourite thing in the Deep Dreaming was the Great Engine. What is it? What's it do? How do you turn it on? What are those funny letters on it? WHO KNOWS!! The mechanics and setting for owod Changeling were horribly depressing. the Lost however, I totally agree, was what the Dreaming should have and could have been. I miss the fun kiths though; Pwca (Pooka) and Coblynau (knockers), were my two favourites. Dark Ages: Fae on the other hand was my favourite owod Changeling book, that was just brilliantly done. I still have the 99% of the owod Changeling book, just cause I was a packrat, and I figured they might be worth some money since they are all out of print now. o3o Have almost all the Lost books as well. Oh, and I agree with the others who say they don't like the new version except for the Lost. Owod ftw!

Kinda got it backwards... werewolves, changelings, and mages usually start out that way. Vampires can, but I think most people like RPing the Embrace or whatever they called it. Hunters are still mortal, and don't have anything supernatural about them (except maybe Faith I think). Also: Changeling the Lost ftw!

Whats wrong with the lusty amaalja maid? They had the Lusty Argonian in Skyrim which I absolutely loved (it was hilarious). Also the Green Hills book I mentioned was just a background title I made up that I said Taijha had been reading.
-
A nice thought, but what is up with the eyeball stuff lately?
-
In rp the other night, I made up a title on the fly: The Green Hills of the Forgotten Springs. It's a story about two sunkitties who fall in love, but from different tribes and run away to be together.

Attribute points for arcanist to scholar
Chisae replied to little-patchy's topic in FFXIV Discussion
When I played ACN, I would turn on aether flow and keep it on until the cooldown finished, then use the drains to smack mobs with, then I could turn Flow right back on... probly not the best way to use it, but it worked good enough for me. -

I'm confused... I was told a long time ago to put points in INT for increased spell damage. So now were putting them in MND (mana pool), and using Cleric Stance? Is that just for the 10% boost? -
Isis, you know about my character K'anika, who isn't really a "good guy", she's more of a... Mel Gibson in Payback. Not really good, not really bad, not really amoral either. heh. Taijha isn't really the white-knight material either. She'd end up stabbing herself (accidentally) with a knife before she could kill someone. She's definitely not bad-guy material either, though she would probably be called a goody-two-shoes by less than good characters or bad guys.

When I was a part of the swtor site on enjin there was a person who would makeup titles of bad_romance novels and write snippets of them. It was a lot of fun, and some were hilarious... I could do the same if you make a wiki page...

-= ...written in what tries to be a neat script, but with a delicate feminine touch that is obvious... =- 14th Sun of the 10th Moon Ugh... Now I remember why I dislike Thanalan... the sun. It's too... sunny. And the dust! Gods forbid that there be some water when you need a drink. As if I wasn't blind enough normally, I can barely see my hand in front of my face. If it wasn't for Missy, I probably would have wandered into a beast-tribe village and roasted. Speaking of roast, I wish I had one right now. I haven't eaten since last night... stupid rodents stealing my food. 15th Sun of the 10th Moon Ahh... I think I have sun burn!! How is that even possible?! My skin is almost black. Momma always told me to stop staying up during day light hours, but did I listen to her? Noooo... *illegible writing follows with what looks like water blurring several of them* 16th Sun of the 10th Moon Yep, I got a sunburn... Missy woke me up this morning and I thought I was going to die from the pain... even her feathers brushing me hurt. How to the Sunkeepers put up with the sun in this hellhole? I need to make a salve... something with a balming agent... need to find an herbalist if I can. Also need to remember to give her extra feed tonight for scaring her this morning... 17th Sun of the 10th Moon I passed some guy on the road... I think it was a man anyway... could have been a moving tree for all I could tell. Yeah, so that... person, said Ul'dah was another day's journey in the direction I was going, and that there was a rail station I should reach by night fall. What's a rail? A type of animal? Why would they need a station for them? I was told this place was called Dry Brush or something... wonder what these metal rails on the ground are for... and just my luck, their inn rooms are full for the night. So I guess I will be staying out under the stars with Missy. Thankfully, they aren't against letting me camp-out inside the station area. I asked someone what type of critter a rail was and what the metal road was for, and they looked at me strangely and then walked off laughing... so rude. Are all the people here like that? Oh pot roast, how I missed you! I traded the inn-keep the food for checking on the health of his chocobos, since a vet hadn't been by in a few months. He got the better end of the deal, but pumpkin seeds weren't cutting it anymore...

My take on the anthropology of the Keepers of the Moon
Chisae replied to Shayrei's topic in RP Discussion
Or perhaps they are there to show that just because the Almighty Lore says something doesnt mean that everyone falls into step with it. I agree with you on this... if males are few and far between in your species, you're going to find love and companionship with the same sex. Daughters and the occasional son are probably raised by their mother and her female-mate-wife-husband-lover-whatever (lol). Speculation again, but I like the idea, and it logically fits in with the snippets of lore we were given. -
You could take some real world book names (from the same time frame of Ff14 roughly) and turn them into Eorzean titles. Like Culpepper's Herbal could be Culpryfwyn's Herbal, written by the famous Roegadyn herbalist of the last era. Or just make up your own book names, such as Lalala's Theories and Treaties on Magical Formulae and Applications.

Oh I didnt even notice that you have courtesans as an option. lol What are they then?
-
Lace girls makes me thing of courtesans, highly trained/educated ladies in fancy dresses that entertain patrons during parties (and not necessarily with sex).

My take on the anthropology of the Keepers of the Moon
Chisae replied to Shayrei's topic in RP Discussion
I think part of the trouble we might be having is that we are trying to stuff cat-people into a human cultural view. Among humans its considered bad for people to be promiscuous, at least in most cultures. Cats however do not share that view point. They go into heat and they go off and find a likely bed-buddy for a few minutes to half an hour. Its more likely that both tribes are promiscuous, especially as Allgivenover noted, males are rare among the Moonkitties. They wouldn't pair up monogamously at all. I am sure there are exceptions, like in very tiny families where the head female lays claim to a particular male. Larger extended families would have a pool of males and the females would take one as the need or fancy arises. The males on the other hand would be trying to make themselves look better than the other males in the lot to get their genes passed on (just like in every other species - except maybe fish, dunno about them). I kinda liked the OP's sociology write up, but I have to agree that it doesnt really fit. It might fit with the Sunkitties though. As for or not making up stuff to fill in the gaps, that's a debate from another thread that was beat to death and got no where. Some people are alright with fannon, others think it's the road to hell lined with dubious good intentions. It's just a topic where both parties have to agree to disagree. Especially since the naysayers are not being forced to abide by said fannon. ANYWAY... I'd be more inclined to pass on this idea that Moonkitties are puritan with their sexuality - and while I've said before that I haven't seen any moonkeeper prostitutes like I have Sunseekers, really its hard to tell one from the other sometimes. That's my ten gil... *goes back to watching anime* PS: We weren't given a "right" but SE hasn't come out and said that making up lore for our own enjoyment is against TOS. As long as someone isn't trying to make up stuff and for oithers to go along with it, it's not really your place to tell them they can't do it either. *really goes back to watching anime this time* -

Some of the things in the Sociology part I didn't know about, very interesting. -
Right now, I think Bard is the only support class we have.
-
I *think* K'anika might be a fit for this. She's a fighter, sometimes a prostitute (and no I don't do ERP lol - thats just part of her history), a drinker and sorta addicted to Somnus. She could be hired to shake someone down, or just work as a hired thug. She's not bad, but she's not good... I kinda think of Mel Gibson in Payback (*loved* that movie).

Perhaps a better use of space would be to not have the same leaders be in every LS but have different leaders for each? I know it sounds bad, but... if the same people are in every LS, they are potentially taking up slots that new people could use. It's sad we have to resort to this... As K'anika: Also I am unhappy in OOC 1, no one talks. The Driftwood chat seems to be the one everyone wants to be in. That ones never quiet. *sigh* Oh well... I'm sorry if I sound like Im always complaining about this, but it annoys the crap out of me.
