[Interest Check] Marketplace and Twin Adder RP FC!
Chisae replied to Oriane Suhzu's topic in RP Discussion
Oh Taijha would love the marketplace, she will come to sell her medicines and her handcrafted clothing. -
The title caught me off guard, I had to wonder for a second why you were wanting to rp as a cactaur.
-
The draenei were like that because the players made them like that... the lore behind them was holy do-gooders, not space-sluts. Night Elves were far more promiscuous in in-game lore as I recall... I remember there was two lesbian Nelfs at one outpost in Northrend (absolutely loved those two girls).
-
I think we need to stop trying to apply our morals and values onto a fictional race. Line between fantasy and reality and all that. And just because a race has a harem-type culture per tribe doesn't mean they are necessarily promiscuous otherwise. I see just as many prostitutes of the other races as I do Miqote, not that I go around looking for the red-light districts in the villages and cities (queue all the " suuuuuure" comments). lol

Saikoray, who is this "we" you speak of? I'm not being sarcastic here... well not really anyway. There's a buttload of "we" in Japan that SE is catering too with this sorta thing... whatever that is. Remember, everyone playing this game outside of Japan are the secondary "we's", our opinions and what we want are of less concern than those in Japan. That's not intended to sound bitter or snarky, I'm just pointing it out. Also Allgivenover makes a bunch of good points. I would also like to point out that Lost Springs in the Sagoli Desert has a whole village of Sunkeepers that aren't being portrayed as promiscuous (I think I saw one that looked like she was a hooker but thats it), in fact all of them were armoured and armed and several of them had the spoils of their hunt laying at their feet. That doesn't mean that all Sunkeepers are badass epic hunters either.

chargen name generator offers up surnames for elezen that are not even in the game npcs (that I've seen), the fandango site however, does. I think the site one is based off 1.0... or perhaps XI. They are both good tools though, don't discount the site just because it offers fewer names for some races (supposedly). I spent nearly another pushing generate on elezen and had well over 30 different surnames.

The Apothecary's Guild, primarily headquartered in Gridania, in the beautiful, lush forests of the Black Shroud. A place to recover from what ails you, since conjury cannot heal all of your troubles, and isn't meant to. Fevers, gout, sore throats, injuries of all sorts, you can find treatment at the Apothecaries' Guild. Is your chocobo sick? Bring them too, there's veterinarians as well. --- OOC nonsense: Okay so it's not really a clinic/hospital (yet), but that could be fun... the Apothecaries' Guild is a Linkshell for networking healers, and herbalists, animal doctors and physicians so they can trade remedies, ideas and ask questions. It's a tiny LS right now, but if you have a mundane-healer-type character of a magic healer type (that only uses it as a tool), feel free to contact me for an invite should you like to join. Taijha Tayuun for contact info. Well, doesn't look like there's any interest... so nevermind. I give up.

Until I get a way to change my Miqote's name (not Taijha), she will be stuck with the name Masikha Rosewood. *sigh* She was a hyuran until I used my vet reward to change her. >.>
-
I will be homeless until Gridania homes are released, that's all there is to it.
-
So when does Gridania and Uldah get their housing... all I see is mention of the Mists. >.>

Cheapening would be making everyoone looking the same... uniqueness in the chargen only goes so far when you have armour that forces you to wear a hood or a helmet. This is 2013. We have pc,s with hard drives in the terabytes and vram in the gigabytes. There's no reason for limiting character uniqueness like there was in the early days of mmos. Also something is not exclusive if everyone can get it... that would be more like that sword in warcraft that only one person on a server could have. I could go home and level a paladin and get the "exclusive" "iconic" paladin look if I wanted... Raubhan has unique and exclusive armour.
-
So it another mind-wandering day at work so ended up thinking about the Tonberry Lantern, and thought a n IC medical publication would be fun. I came up with the names the Gobbue's Frond or the Cactur's Needle as names. The idea would be to post articles - large or small - about health and medical remidies and the like. More later...
-
Yeah I really loved that system... there's a bunch of things I loved in GW2, that would make this game so much better. This just made me ridiculously happy.
-
The LS isnt just for Gridania, its all city-states, its just that ICly Tai hasn't left the Shroud except for once on a curiosity-binge into Eastern Thanalan... she got sunburned, so she hasn't been there since. It's a linkshell of doctors and whatnot from all over, like a network for sharing ideas and asking questions and so on. Also Im in-game now, so feel free to whisper me if you want in.

*agrees with Naunet* This shouldn't even be an issue, it should just be a staple of MMOs nowdays. If this was a 1P game with only multiplayer support, I don't think anyone would really care, because you are the "special snowflake" of that game. In mmos that doesn't really work because everyone ends up being homogenized and bland, you don't look iconic, you look like a carbon copy of every other player of the same class. It's boring and uninteresting. If they have half a brain among their decision-makers, they will put in some sort of transmogrification or appearance tab. That way those that want to be "iconic" can run around in their AF armour, and those that don't can run around with the look of something else over the top of the "iconic" armour. As for the dying of only one part, I'm relatively happy with how it dyes stuff. In Rift, you could dye multiple parts, but you were lucky if you could tell which parts were being dyed sometimes. You might just be wasting several gold on a dye that only colours a tiny strip on the back of the jacket, or the tiny buckles on the boots (I'm not exaggerating). At least in this game you can tell whats being dyed, when you can.
-
I see what you did there...
-
It's an LS right now... I *might* do fc... but I think if I did an fc too, people who are already in one and wants to be a part of this too, couldn't be in it... since I think you can only be in one FC.
-
Introducing: the Apothecarie's Guild! I didnt know there was a 20 character limit, so I couldn't use EMS like I was going to... Feel free to PM Taijha Tayuun (me) is you want to join as a medical person, or somesuch.
-
I think Im gonna do both, the LS would be IC and the FC chat would be ooc... dun need both to be IC. One doesn't need to be a member of both.
-
I might go with EMS, I like that one the best out of my inventions. FC or LS though? I suppose I could do both though...
-
I didnt know they were turned off... Well if you want to join, once I get the name I like settled upon, or someone helps me figure one out, you could join as an herb supplier or something.
-
If your items have even just a 1% spirit bind, they cannot be traded. It's basically like soulbinding in other mmos.
-
You could try /blacklist add Sometimes people have trouble with the shortcut version. Or you cant right click, send tell, and then edit the command so that it's /blist add "gilspammers name" and then enter and "ok" when the message to add pops up. Really we just need a right-click command for this, and for report gilspam.

I. Basic Info Characters: Taijha Tayuun, Paprika Rika and K'anika Mahji (Gilgamesh) Primary character: Taijha Tayuun Linkshells: Intermission 1 (or is it 2?) Primary RP linkshell: Still looking II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I love being IC as much as possible, except when doing dungeons or doing something really out of character for Taijha (like battles); though I have in past-games done IC stuff and just had them be dreams. I don't care for ultra-serious RP all the time, I tend to like light-hearted themes, or just casual banter. That's not to say that I don't want to get involved in any deep storylines or anything. Views on RP combat and injuries: I tend to dislike RP combat because it usually ends up in drama-whoring. If it *has* to happen, I want clearly defined rules and as little bitching as possible. lol Injuries are fine, and death is *only* an option if the involved parties agree to it. You try to murder my character without my say-so, I put you on my blacklist. End of story. I don't spend hours and even days making my character for some halfwit mouthbreather to come along and end her life. >.< /endrant Views on IC romance: I am a big hopeless romantic, I have always thought it would be fun to get involved in a romantic storyline (guy or girl, I don't care). I like my erotica single-player (lol), so I don't get involved with it. But stuff like kissing and hugging, and flirting in public areas is not ERP, and I am perfectly fine with that. I am single IRL, so I don't have to worry about the "other person" getting upset that my imaginary character is having an imaginary romance. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I love mundane RP, rarely does anyone want to play that... everyone seems to want to be some sort of dramatic character, or evil psychopath. I am happy running about the world playing as a nobody healer or whatever, a traveling merchant, or just some shy bookworm that runs a bookshop or something like that. Taijha has a whole NPC village that I think would be really freaking cool if I could get other players to be a part of. She has a long-lost sister named Masikha that hasn't been seen in 10 years. I would be more than happy to rename the NPC if someone wanted to play her sister, the only requirement would be that she has the surname of Tayuun (since Moonkeepers are matriarchal). Her mother (Jhili) is still alive, but getting on in years, and her father (Lhei'a Nelhah - they never married), is presumably still alive, but he's a traveling merchant, so she hasn't seen him since the Calamity. Views on lore: I love the lore in this game, it's so interesting. But the in-game setting is somewhat limiting now. The zones are tiny and there's freaking invisible walls around the most irritating places possibles (docks, ledges, tops of hills, wells, window sills...). So I ignore part of the in-game world in regards to locations. Such as Taijha's home village of Narrow Cleft, which does not exist in lore or in-game, but it's in Eastern Shroud on the shore of the ocean (couldn't make out the name of the bay or the ocean though). I've always promoted the idea that the real Twelvewood and the villages and towns would be far larger than they are shown to be. Farmsteads would exist, houses and other shops would exist in the in-game towns like Bentbranch or that village where the Floating Cork Inn is. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): /say is IC for me. Always. Linkshells if specifically tagged as being IC, are IC for me, though I will use brackets for OOC. Party chat and whispers are OOC for me... unless you are standing right next to me and noting that you're whispering in /say, it seems rather screwy to be claiming you're whispering from the next town over... III. Other Info Country: 'Murica... lol Timezone: EST Contact info: Here... or in-game; K'anika and Corriander are on Gilgamesh. I dunno what I want to call it though... Thought of: Gridanian Medical Society; Eorzean Medical Society (EMS); Twelvewood Apothecary Organization (TAO), but organization makes it sound too modern. Twelvewood Physicians Society (TPS, lol Office Space) also sounds nice. Oh, Apothecaries/Physicians Without Borders! haha.. I wanted it to be more like the Royal Medical Society in England though. Twelvewood Medical Society (tooms lol)... Twelvewood Apothecary's Guild (TWAG ).
