In otherwords: The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

I've always found the alignment system rather stilted... it's too black and white, when life is more chaotic good/evil with maybe a bit of neutral tossed in to confuse people. People look at the alignment system and see True Good as being an untouchable saint, which is how I have always thought they were represented. You don't drink, don't swear, don't bang hookers (lol), you don't take rewards for good deeds and on and on and all. It's more of a caricature of good than anything else. Just like True Evil has always been portrayed as moustache-twirling men in tophats and black capes... or raspy robotic voices with a fetish for choking people. In that sense, both sides of the coin are boring and unimaginative. But if you allow the pure-as-the-driven-snow True Good person to have something... broken with them, like they have a psychological flaw, or they secretly like poking nymphs (in *that* way) at night... in barns; then you have a more interesting character. Vader's back story in the prequels made him an interesting villain, instead of the rather 2D villain he was in the original trilogy. He had a spark of good in him smoldering away for 20 years (?) that ultimately led him to save his son in ROTJ. tl;dr: True Good - generic and boring; true evil - never played well enough and also generic and boring.

Landstander was pretty much what I was thinking of for "aether-sight". So I would suggest go with that.
-
If youre just wanting it to be a part of her character and not have it be an actual disability, you could give her aura-sight, or some sort of blind-sense that she derives either from her magic studies, or somehow granted from the aether.

I will never buy from Razer ever again. Ever. I had two of their Naga in a year, both of them broke in six months. Also never buy the Logitech K800 wireless keyboard it's utter crap. The keys broke, the usb cord seemed like it was made of aluminum because it was flimsy and broke within two weeks, and finally it stopped taking a charge from my computer.

Are you sure you get hit with AoEs? Cause I was standing in a red ring last night when I was botanying and didnt take any damage and I was stealthed.
-
During the "were trying to launch" week, when everyone was trolling the tech support forum like crazy, I was trolling the trolls sometimes, and didnt get banned by the forum nazis... maybe my troll-fu wasnt strong enough to trigger the ban hammer. lol EA/Bioware I didnt have any trouble with... of course I only emailed them once to get the key thingy removed from my account. That got taken care of pretty quickly.

I still think pwe/cryptic CS is worse, but as it stands, only just barely.
-
Yeah sounds to me like you were trying to grief the gatherer... even though you can technicallyauto attack mobs with pickaxes and hatchets, they do a pitiful amount. Of damage and you might die faster than the mob... Also the gatheerers are not choosing to mine for ore or chop trees in "combat zones" or during fates. And finally it possible that the miner you tried to grief was a bot.
-
Good luck with that... I filed a ticket three weeks ago and have only got their notice that it was recieved. Mine could have been resolved in a couple minutes with either a yes or now answer... but nope...
-
On A related note I dislike how fast the time runs in-game. 2.5 min or so for a full day I think it is... So I had an idea... as a community we should decide what time zone to go by and pretend that thhe world is at that time too... even if the srtting itself shows the sun up. So if its say, 5am gmt irl then its 5am eorzean as well.

I dont think it's really that big of a deal, him mentioning that you should switch to Japanese... I don't think it should have been #1, but it's nothing to get worked up over (if anyone is). If this game had been Russian, German, French or whathaveyou in it's native language, I would have switch the voice-overs to that language because I like listening to games in their original language as long as it doesnt force me to read the game text in said language as well. lol I'm not fluent in Japanese, but I do understand bits and pieces and I like figuring out where one word stops and another begins too. Do I think that the Japanese vo's sound better? Some of them yes, others no.

I Have Made A Terrible Mistake: When to Just Reroll
Chisae replied to K'dath's topic in RP Discussion
30 seems to be my cut-off, at least for a one time thing anyway, since i remade Taijha on Gilgamesh when she was already 30 on Balmung. Usually 20 is my cutoff for a character. Also, welcome to OCD-land. I have NO idea how many times I have made a character in other games, got through the tutorial and HATED the look of her... so back to the chargen and back through the tutorial. SWTOR, I think I went through Hutta 10 times. Last time through I swore I wouldnt go through the planet again, and then I quit for good. -
Cajun, as I've seen it RPed has a tendency to turn into Jamaican real quick. Generalizing is bad, I sorry, but I dunno what other names a 'Jamaican' accent goes by. I could also see it working for an Ele. Right... I meant Louisiana, not Cajun... and youre correct. Canjun gets morphed into Jamaican really easy. lol
-
Hmm i never thought of Cajun, I can see that working for the moonkitty accent actually. I'll have to check it out tomorrow.

My aunt has a magnet that says something like "swearing a sign of a limited mental ability"... or maybe limited vocabulary. Cant remember which... basically you're too stupid to talk properly so you have to swear to fill in the blanks. To which I giggle and remember how the Russians have like four stages of swearing, and you're a god among potty-mouths if you can string enough expletives together (and still make sense) to get to stage four. lol i also agree with Vinter, you can only change words around so much without repeating yourself or just not having enough impact.

I've been trying to figure out what Taijha's accent would be without falling back on "general redneck yapping Yeehaw ya'll" lol. Tai lived in a tiny village out in the boonies of the East Shroud near the ocean. She's a country bumpkin, but she's been living in Gridania for a bit, working as an apothecary. I figure, the moonkitty dialect of Eorzean would be significantly different from general Eorzean spoken in Gridania - and probly other moonkitty tribes/villages as well. Kinda like my previous example of Hokkaido/Yokohama Japanese being different than standard Japanese found in Tokyo. I supppose I could just talk like Boomhauer from King of the Hill...

K'nali, I don't think were talking about using excessive vulgarity (though that might be the case), but rather lore-appropriate terms and topics, shite, bugger (a slang term for having sex last I checked), and so on. I think I have heard NPCs use "fuck" before, but I cant recall. The game lightly peppers dialogue with vulgarity where appropriate to set the tone for certain areas or stories; LimLom being the most notable. I could see people being whiny and offended if the game was sanitized like some other MMOs that have their heads in the sand and act like the world is Hello Kitty lol, but it's not. It's gritty. Even the 1.0 Uldah intro had a brief scene on your way into the parade where a guy was hitting up a prostitute... sadly they got rid of that, I thought Uldah's intro was the best of the three. Also, my sunkitty, K'anika is a bitch... snarky and abrasive, but I tend to go light on the profanity, and just use the in-game terms where appropriate.
-
Bwahaha!! I knew those three were doing it together! I just never stuck around long enough to verify it.
-
Congrats! I expect a free... I mean I expect to buy the first copy! (lol)

Offensive is in the eye of the Beholder, but some Beholders are raised with such a thin skin that just saying hello to them is sexual harassment. lol Whenever someone whines and moans about sex or adult themes in this game (generated by the players), I want to take them on the Eorzea Sex Tour... show them all the prostitutes and flirting and propositioning that the npc's have going on. I can't really fault the players (not that I would anyway) for using coarse language and having adult themes when the game has them out on display in plain sight.
-
One of the zones just outside of Limlom looks just like that... I think its the one with all the windmills.
-
I cant get over how freaking adorable Ququ is... I just want to hug him and squeeze him and pet him and stroke him and call him george.
-
Oh true, true... but Balmung has far more 1.0 players than Gilgamesh, so endgame elitism is going to happen a lot more frequently (for now).

Youre on a legacy server, thats gonna happen.
